Stayed for the first time last night, absolutely beautiful hotel, also such a beautiful place, with stunning views, food was great, the lady on the checking couldn't do enough for us really helpful and welcoming. Friendly staff and really well thought out due to covid. Will definetley be coming again xx.

Beautiful rooms, very comfy beds. Very spacious.
Toilets are immaculate. Tv is brilliant. Tea and coffee in the rooms are well stocked. The staff are welcoming, polite and are very attentive. Nice size car park.
The restaurant is nice and big. There is a wide range of breakfasts from a full English to pastry’s. Food is lovely!

Royal is so friendly this is our second Xmas here and we love it. Room is lovely, bed is so comfy the food has been amazing as always. The staff are brilliant always happy to help they make us feel at home. We spend a lot of time eating and drinking here and have made a lot of friends of the staff Sally Matt Paul Craig Shaun Liv Mel Sharon Simon to name a few.

We have just got back from a lovely stay at The Royal. All the staff were very welcoming and friendly. Our room was amazing with a great view. Myself and my husband came with his parents as his mum is from Ross-on-Wye and were married in the beautiful church some 60 odd years ago. Was so nice to hear them talking about all the different places, even saying The Royal was like The Ritz back in the day. My mother in laws grandmother worked in the kitchen at The Royal so it was nice to stay somewhere that means so much to them. Thank you all once again, we have already booked to come in April 2020 for our wedding anniversary.

Incredible Sunday lunch today staff unbelievable and attentive food off the scale … the new Yorkshire pudding and roast potatoes. Were devine and an inspiration. Beautiful setting… thank you so much especially to Sally and Paul… you were amazing… nothing but praise for you all God bless you xxx.

I had a Gourmet Burger for mains, a really nice sticky toffee pudding with Custard off the specials card and a J20. Very nice food, very nice views of Ross and the River Wye, Very nice service too 5 Stars.

Just love the Royal especially the gardens overlooking the River Wye. Really friendly staff and have booked a couple of night to stay there for an upcoming birthday as a treat.

This was a 4th visit and was pleasantly surprised this IMEX as previous visits were somewhat less enjoyed. The atmosphere was busy and the food ok but not that generous.

Stayed there on Wednesday 17th April 2019, lovely welcome, actually taken to our room, very clean and spacious. Staff are so friendly and always happy to help.
Food was amazing and plenty of choice.
Breakfast is included in the price and you can help yourself to whatever you want.
Thank you for such a lovely stay, we’re back at Christmas.

Would recommend the Roast vegetable Moroccan dish. The restaurant was a lovely venue and the meal was delicious but there was only one vegan option. Would love to make it our regular but we need other vegan choices.

We had two nights and it was amazing, views to die for from our bedroom. Staff very friendly can't wait to to return for another break keep up the good work.

Good food nice staff good value, great views over the Riverside from outside table's. Very nice inside restaurant area if weather is not good. Hotel backs onto small park at the rear of the church with seats with views for miles over countryside into Wales best views, very close to town centre.

We only stopped in here for a drink since it was a beautiful day and the views from their beer garden / decked area were magnificent!

We came down from Yorkshire as we had been promising ourselves a visit for the past couple of years … and it certainly did not disappoint. The Royal is on a cliff top with spectacular views. We paid for a suit which again we have no regrets as it made our stay more special. The hotel has so much character — a typical old english inn. The staff just cannot do enough for you to ensure your stay is memorable. We tasted all daytime meals and enjoyed them all … tasty; cooked as requested with impeccable service.
Ross on Wye is a quaint picturesque town and well worth a visit. Not your typical high street shops. It is refreshing to be able to shop in traditional family run shops. There are plenty of riverside walks with lots of local attractions to visit. We shall definitely be returning.

Great place to sit out and enjoy the view on a summers day. Perfect location. Food is reasonably priced and is of usual pub standard, my friends steak was well done when asked for rare but aside from this no problems with the food. Would have given it five stars but the service at the bar was very slow. Not enough staff behind the bar. Food ordered at the bar too so very congested on a hot weekend.

A lovely, well presented hotel restaurant, with fantastic views if you can bag one of the many outside tables on the veranda. We met friends for an enjoyable meal. There's plenty of choice on the menu. Order at the bar, not my favourite type of service as a customer, but more efficient for the restaurant. Definitely happy to recommend and will return when next in Ross on Wye.

Really nice bar restaurant. We had a nice lunch overlooking some awesome country views. Deserts are pretty impressive.

Lovely meal there today. Was served by a fantastic young asian waitress who was extremely efficient. Felt sorry for her however as she seemed to be the only one serving food, maybe they need to increase staff on these hot busy days.

I have a very good British Breakfast at an excellent price with a breathtaking view. I've really enjoyed it.

This hotel is in a great location near the centre of Ross on Wye with free parking for guests. The hotel is beginning to look a little tired and could do with a bit of a face lift. Having said that, the room was clean & spacious and the bed was comfy. The bar is a Green King pub which has its pros and cons. On the plus side, you can get a proper pint of ale, which is unusual for a hotel. On the other hand though, the food is pretty basic and if you are looking for a nice meal in the evening, you will want to go out to eat. The breakfast was good though, all the hot breakfasts are cooked fresh and brought to your table. The hotel has free Wi-Fi (only just). It is painfully slow and trying to watch Netflix in my room was a non starter.

Good Location, nice hotel, food is very good and reasonably priced. Nice outside area for drinks with nice views for miles the room I was in could have done with blinds or a curtain in the bathroom and the door would not stay closed. But it is an old building so don't expect it to be perfect.

Whilst visiting Ross on Wye we stopped at the Royal for a spot of lunch. Being Sunday, we opted to have a Sunday roast. The food was fantastic and reasonably price. The staff were all brilliant and attentive. Definatly recommend a visit.

Great location but can be overcrowded in the bar and patio due to its popularity. Food not cheap but much better than your average pub grub. Full service in the dining room or order yourself and eat in the bar area, either way the staff are efficient and friendly.

Great hotel with beautiful river views. Room included parking, bit car park is small and tight. Staff are very friendly and helpful. Door lock at 11:30pm, but the room key will let you back in. Very clean and furnished to a high standard.

Wonderfully place, such a view to die for. Good old fashioned place, comfortable with good food and good service, like the old days. Not many left like it now. Pity.

Restaurant 4* Breakfast5*, hotel has plenty of great atmosphere, bedrooms just average but the bed itself wonderful, really comfortable. Creaky floorboards on every move but I suppose that comes with the age of the building? " staff overall were excellent.

Stayed for two nights at the Royal Hotel in Ross on wye lovely stay staff very friendly and welcoming from the receptionists to the manageress could not fault it breakfast both mornings lovely cooked just right.

Lovely, traditional old fashioned style hotel. Very friendly and helpful staff. Fantastic location at the top of town with a view over the River Wye.
The only disappointment was a rather tough sirloin steak and one of the other guests we spoke to had exactly the same problem. They had another meal there the following night and said it was excellent, but we went out to eat on the second night.

Excellent service and food in a lovely atmosphere, The Resturaunt is clean and comfortable with attentive staff who are a Joy, The food is delicious and very well presented, This place used to be care worn and tatty but now it is delightful the decor is splendid and it is clean and welcoming throughout and at the time of writing I highly recommend a meal here.

Lovely food and fast and friendly service! Didnt do an overnight stay so can't contribute about any of the accommodation but it's a very tidy and clean place and I will be returning for the restaurant in the near future. The staff were very helpful and offered to put hot food on cooler plates for my little girl which is always a nice gesture. Would highly recommend.

We visited for lunch but Did not stay. The burger I has was topped with brisket of beef and a bourbon sauce and was delicious. My partner has scallops with crispy bacon and said that was delicious too.

Fantastic scenery from the new terrace. Awesome staff, serving great pub food, including a brilliant kids menu. Can't recommend the Royal Hotel highly enough.

Nice hotel at the top of the hill in Ross. Recently refurbished, the rooms are comfortable and nicely decorated. Breakfast is generous and the bar is quite cosy with good views over the Wye valley; ask for a room facing in that direction. Parking with the hotel grounds is free for guests, although adjacent parking on street for 2 hours. Recommended, especially with one of the frequent deals available.

We’ve had 3 big family gatherings (20+) since September and The Royal have always accommodated us. I’ve always spoke highly to others about the service, but today the staff went above and beyond for my daughters 10th birthday. Lots of children dining, they accommodated their needs and in particular my nephew who has special needs. They served his food (which had to be bought in by us) to him as a paying guest. Nothing was too much trouble. We can only thank you from the bottom of our hearts for making us all feel so welcome and now my family, who once felt anxious going out for meals, sit at the Royal, completely relaxed and welcomed. To others it may be a simple request but to us it meant everything. So thank you once again for all that you do.

Beautiful hotel, restaurant and bar. Outdoor seating with fantastic views and an open fire in the bar in winter. Try the gins with elderflower tonic.

Nothing but praise about this place, we went with our lurcher pup, who was surprisingly well behaved and slept under the table, can not fault anything, nice service, made to feel special, and finished off with a nice drink outside in the very pretty peaceful gardens, just a wonderful experience all round, thank you,

In need of refurbishment, the room we had was small and windows required rocking before opening because of sticking really badly. The floorboards creaked and squeaked just looking at them. For £107 a night without evening meal, is not worth the money.

I can't praise the Royal Hotel enough. We had our wedding and wedding reception there. All the staff were amazing, they couldn't do enough for you. Always polite and incredibly helpful. Food was excellent. Beautiful views from the terrace. And a loverly atmosphere in the hotel.

Attended a party at the Buckingham suite of the Royal Hotel. The party was fantastic, room looked wonderful. Well maintained facilities and the food was excellent, well above your average buffet fare. Very much enjoyed our evening. Would love to go back and stay as guests.

Amazing stay, lovely stay, beautiful town. My partner and I went there for an anniversary, just for a couple of nights. When we arrived the car park is fairly easy to miss but there are plenty of spaces. The staff were absolutely lovely, so kind and welcoming, upon checking in they urged us to check their Facebook page for food and drink deals; this was well worth it for eating in at the hotel, it saved us a small fortune. The room we were put in was right out the way at the top of the hotel on its own floor, this was lovely. The room was well presented and clean, amazing for a romantic getaway. The menu for evening meals and breakfast has all of your classics but has some gorgeous specialities. The staff in the bar and restaurant were courteous and thoughtful. All in all it was an amazing two day stay in a lovely hotel in a beautiful part of the country, we would really recommend it.

Takes ages to get served to drinks and food. Food quality isn't what it used to be — need to try a bit harder guys, the competition has moved on.

We spent a couple of days at Ross, staying here just before christmas. The hotel was very good and although a few niggling little issues met us on arrival, the staff soon sorted them out and we enjoyed the stay. And if going, check the Phoenix theatre adjacent to the hotel. A small (60) seat theatre which used to be a firestation where we saw "She stoops to conquer". Would recomend this hotel for the wonderful views of the river we enjoyed from our bedroom.

We have just spent a lovely couple of days at this hotel. Staff were accommodating, particularly around room choice as I had my elderly mother with me. Loved the fact that breakfast was served up until noon. Food was fabulous. Service second to none. Would definitely recommend this to anyone. Lovely views, quaint little town with some interesting walks.
