The charm of an Ole English pub. Great breakfast this morning. Friendly, accommodating staff. The Loft is awesome. Center located to sites within walking distance. Old town. Lots of hist all around.

Great little hotel near restaurants and port. Friendly staff and comfortable room with a rain head shower. We wake up early and the whole town seems to be still sleeping at 8am. But other than that great stay.

Super happy helpful bar staff.

Its ok going through refurbishment just a 6. Minute walt from gate 4 with easy access to cuise terminal.

Disappointing. Went for drinks and dinner. Nice place, good atmosphere but service is very poor. Started when I called to reserve a table:
"Can I book a table for 3 at 830pm? "
"Yes"…
"Would you like to take my name? "
"OK what is it? "
Turned out I didn't need to book as the restaurant was empty which diluted the atmosphere as there is a dividing wall. Service from 2 bar staff was very slow. Ordered G&T, when we asked for lime & lemon slices in it we were greeted with a sigh then the fruit was obtained from the other end of the bar and dumped in the glass by HAND!
When we ordered more drinks and food the barmaid walked down the bar to the till looked back and ordered us to 'Come here'. Couldn't take the whole order, took the food order, left us as the bar while she took it to the kitchen, came back 10 minutes later to do the drinks which we had to order one at a time while she made them then took the next order. At the bar for 20 minutes to order 3 main meals and 3 drinks.
Finally asked to set up a tab, insisted on keeping my card behind the bar, in this day and age of fraud I declined and received a very hostile response. When you have such a choice of venues in Oxford Street this won't be anywhere near the top of my list.

This is our second visit to this charming hotel. The staff are so helpful, nothing is too much trouble. We have already made our next booking!

Absolutely awful experience. Took over an hr for a cooked breakfast — we were the only people in the restaurant so the time taken inexcusable. Had to cancel and leave as late for boat. They huffed and puffed when I demanded a refund.

Rustics, but friendly service. A room kinda small for American standard. Foods are good both quantity and quantity.

Stayed here Saturday just gone with my partner. We were very impressed with our stay! The staff were very attentive and helpful. We payed £71.50 in total for the room and that included breakfast which I thought was very reasonable! Especially as the breakfast was very good and even included free muffins! if we’re ever in Southampton again this place would be our first choice! Thank you for a lovely stay.

Came here for lunch, and the food was tasty and delicious. Great deal got drinks 2for1 cocktails Service was good and friendly, would come back again.

We have just been to fuck off by the manager as she’s leaving tomorrow and she doesn’t give a shit. We are sat here at 10pm and cold by the door so we shut the doors. They then were rude to us and told us to keep them open as they are hot at the bar. Sorry but doesn’t your customers health matter? Then 5 mins later the manager comes out with notes on the doors saying keep doors opening. Shouting in our faces and swearing at us too. I have never been spoke to like that by a company. Disgusting. Sorry we’re paying £5 a drink to enjoy our friend sbirthday and they have just ruined it. We are so fuming.

Wonderful restaurant and bar, decor was lovely. Location great if you want to drink and party. Our room was OK apart from the cleanliness, shower was all lime scaled and needed a thorough clean. The room had electric sockets which were slightly loose on the wall. Was very disappointed as paid £77 for a boutique experience but got very shabby chic instead.

Bar and restaurant area looks very inviting, other than that NOT a place I would want to waste £77 on a room!. Standard of cleaning appalling, although after I had complained to the duty manager we did receive a bottle of wine for the inconvenience of having it cleaned again. The 2 ladys that worked on the evening shift were fab, very welcoming and apologetic about the cleanliness of the room. On the other hand a gentleman that took the key after us vacating did not even bother to ask if we enjoyed our stay. I personally wouldn't stay here again, cleaning and maintenance of the place is extremely poor.

Appalling. Shocked by quality of food, such a poor standard for the price. Too poor to bother to complain. I had poached egg, mushroom and spinach on granary toast set me back £8.00.1 tiny poached egg, burnt mushrooms and indescribable, desimated spinach. I was left starving, egg over cooked. We had to move on elsewhere to buy a crossoint to deal with hunger. My partner’s full English breakfast was served cold, 1 mushroom, very dry, bacon over cooked who knows what they did to the sausage but let’s just say it could have been in the oven for at least 1 month, no exaggeration. Cup of tea, tasted like dishwater. Apple juice from a carton, fizzy? We rest our case do not eat here. Lesson learnt. Hyped up, ponce cafe with obnoxious cock of the walk waiter with grandeur above his station. Trust this is a spot on review. Not worth one star but had to give it a star to send the post.

If you need a great place to stay in Southampton this is it! Friendly staff serving fab food and Great Cocktails in the the most comfy relaxed dining area and roomy bar with gorgeous well appointed rooms above and a tip top brekky included. Booked to go back already.

Can be very overcrowded and long wait at the bar. Good atmosphere and in a good location close to other pubs and clubs.

A good independent hotel, essentially all you need in one place a good bar serving good beer and apparently cocktails, then good evening food with decent bedrooms for the sleeping bit. Then an excellent breakfast to set you up the following morning. Stayed a few times with work and will definitely stay again.

Nice and worm people. Very clean. Well situated.

Staff are great, the food and bar options are great, however the "shabby chic" rooms just appear a bit grubby and dirty in places. I get the beaten up furniture look, but that's no excuse for a rusty bin and build up of dirt and grime. The loud noise from the nearby bars until around 3am obviously wasn't the fault of the hotel, however double glazing should definitely be on their to do list when they do any improvements.

Loved this place. Staff was amazing, going out of their way to help us with everything from vegan meals to taxis. The rooms were clean and well supplied with extras. The breakfast was made to order and delicious. Thank you so much!

Bar area was clean, service was fast and friendly, and the drinks were of good quality.

Worst hotel I have ever stayed in DIRTY and breakfast not edible — you advertised a restaurant or food available NO — we arrived on a Sunday for 1 night prior to a cruise to be told food finished at 11am. I suggest you take a good look at your curtains and windows they are disgustingly dirty. I have given you one star that for your staff who could not have been nicer.

What a great little find! It is not a 5 star hotel but you wouldn't notice. The service was impeccable and couldn't fault a thing. Room was tidy and clean and plenty of tea and coffee etc. Breakfast was needed and delicious and plenty of it. Bonus of 2-41 cocktails the night before too. Will definitely be staying again when in the area.

It's a bit pretentious, most people in there are a bit stuck up and think they are better than everyone else. Nice enough bar, drink prices are alright, just not a fan of the (older) crowd.

Always a decent atmosphere.

Floor boards too creaky, a bag was covering the smoke detector.

Staff were polite, rooms were very clean as expected. Room had an iron which was needed.

Great food and beer and cheap.

Toilets were bloody great. I had the best snap off ever.

Enjoyable stay. Convenient location bar prices steep but offset by superb atmosphere and friendly staff. Worth the money.

Stayed there for 3 nights, and I would like to say, Cargo is one of the best hotels I ever had the chance to stay in. The food I was served was superb, English food with a twist. I would recommend the chicken and Chorizo linguine and the homemade beef burger especially. Having had the chance to meet the chef to congratulate about the food, I was very surprised to see it was a young Thai lady cooking. She seemed passionate about food, wherever it came from and I had never been disappointed with the food served during my stay. Even the hot breakfast was better than my mum's! The room was lovely and well equipped. The staff was very helpful in providing anything I was requesting. Even overnight thanks to Winston, the nightporter. Would definately recommend to anyone staying in Southampton for a few days.

A very trendy, boutique style hotel. Great value for money and the menu is quite varied for the fussier eater (me! ) The staff were very attentive although they didn't take no for an answer when it came to extras when ordering e. G. Garlic bread? more drinks? dessert? coffee? anything else? I almost felt bad saying no. The other problem was the lack of taste in both mine and my partners food, it was very bland. However both were presented very well and came with side salad and super-skinny fries which I haven't had for years! Overall it's worth a visit, but not the best place on Oxford Street.
