The hotel staff checked us in quickly and couldn’t have been more welcoming, the room was beautiful and warm especially in this cold weather, we couldn’t hear any noise from the busy road and the atmosphere was relaxing and stress free. We will definitely be coming back every time we come to Manchester thank you for making our visit so wonderful.

Been here before and was wonderful but today… so dry, was served Sunday lunch with half what was advertised, told no gravy… sorry but if you can’t offer the menu then you have to inform the paying customer. Complained, the beautiful and friendly waitress then snarled and clearly slagged us off to other staff and manager at the end of the bar. Manager eventually comes over and knock the main off the bill. Starters lovely, initial service lovely, main-not great, dry. Cut up my membership card and will never be back. Try Velvet and No. 1 Canal St. For better… The Mal do an impressive offering too.

We had a great night on our xmas do. Staff were nice and it was great value for money.

I have visited your restaurant possibly over a hundred times and within the last 2 visits it's safe to say never again absolutely the worst service I have ever had in any restaurant. Promice a roast when booked then told no roast on arrival, no food upstairs although others where eating behind us, bar man cant find cellar key to get the wine we asked for took over 30 minuits. Such a shame as previous manager lauren went above and beyond to help and make us welcome previously but wasnt there that night. The staff running hotel reception bar and waiting on. The manager extremely rude and patronising such a shame as visited most sundays for over 2 years.

Although it was very quiet we had a lovely time. The meal was fantastic, the steak was the best I had had in the UK for a long time. Glad we celebrated my husbands birthday there. Definitely recommend.

Food fantastic however shame about the service! However the offer of a free bottle of Prosecco was a nice touch! So understand short staff situation hadn’t helped.

We took up the sunday, dinner bed and breakfast offer… all the staff were fantastic and food is as expected, well presented, cooked and tasty. The breakfast was exceptional… the room was spacious and clean

Trendy hotel. Breakfast was fantastic. The bed wasn’t that comfortable for me, it was two single beds pushed together. Shower was great.

Great location in the center. Lovely rooms and service, very tasty breakfast. Visited for a business trip and I can totally recommend it.

Nice hotel in a good central location close to Piccadilly Station, Market Street, The Village, etc. For the price we paid (below £100 room only) it was good value for our stay. However if the price was more, I may not be quite so complimentary — bedroom walls scuffed, curtains hanging off, mildew on window frames, glass shelf in bathroom falling off, scuffed furniture. Maybe its due a refurb? Do not read this as a poor review — at the right price, this is a good place to stay. Would definately stay again if the price was right.

4th Visit returning again on 29th July 2018 for a three day visit. Abode Manchester is under rated on Expedia, where I booked from please (please check my reviews of the property on Expedia). The hotel is a well kept surprise in the Piccadilly area which is worth a trip, for great drinks, a friendly vibe and great breakfast omelettes. Room 105 was fabulous, spacious, clean and with a cosy feel. … Very close to the Picadilly Train Station.

We bought a voucher from itson for a gin masterclass. However when we got there it was a Vermouth masterclass which was very disappointing as it was a birthday present from my children. The manager explained there must have been a marketing problem and kindly agreed we could have complementary entrance to the actual gin master class in September.
We aren’t that keen on Vermouth but the tasting menu was nice and the venue is smart. It made a nice change to receive good customer service, I am hoping that all will go smoothly at the event in September.

This hotel is right downtown and a great option for those who want a convenient but yet classy option. It is a building from and old era and therefore has its charms. The restaurant is amazing and also has great cocktails. Lunch on sundays is a must! Try and get a room away from the elevator as this is a bit noisy nights. Enjoy!

A group of six of us ate here yesterday. We had the Sunday Social menu with Prosecco. Bethany, who looked after us, served us immediately on arrival with iced water which was much appreciated on a very hot day. The food was excellent, with a good vegetarian option. The service made it though. Really friendly and knowledgeable. We never had to wait without a drink but also it wasn't intrusive. Really good atmosphere, great food and excellent service. We will definitely be returning.

Simply the best. Booked a standard room and was upgraded to The Johnny Cash Suite and oh my what an amazing treat! Such a beautiful suite with free chocolate, crisps, biscuits, juice, Nespresso coffee and more. Fantastic views and so peaceful too even though it is in the centre of Manchester. This hotel has character, if you want standard hotel room don’t book this. This place has atmosphere and it is truly amazing. Thank you for a brilliant night.

Okay, the staff were amazing! They could not have been more helpful. However, once we got into our room, it seemed nice. But then to our surprise in the bathroom there was a bee nest! There was a cage of rats and there was a huge hole in the wall! We then were evacuated due to a fire alarm. I would say to you NEVER stay here. The room number we were in was 789643.

Travelled here for a networking event. We used the downstairs bar/restaurant area, and were provided breakfast by the hotel. The breakfast was great — smashed avocado and a great poached egg on toasted sourdough bread. Based on this event I would definitely go back. The location is easy to find and being on Piccadilly is as central as it gets in Manchester.

Lovely place, nice food, however getting device from non busy staff is a chore. Loitering but not looking after customers Once you get up and ask for service, (being one of 6 customers) They were very polite and helpful. Had free drinks due to the late arrival of them during the meal.

The main selling point of this hotel is the central location. Other than that I would not recommend the place. The rooms are tired and the bathrooms very basic (also tired). The hotel restaurant is considerably over priced and serves a mix of fresh and what must be pre-prepared food. Food quality ranges from acceptable to weatherspoons standard so just set your expectations. The restaurant area is the nicest part of the hotel by a long way.

Friendly staff not starched like other hotels! Food is really nice well worth a visist even if your not staying at the hotel… Centrally located… down side; slooooooo lift Plus side… beautiful historic building… well worth taking the stairs to your room as it still retains its original features. Nice food and selection of cocktails.

Nice hotel, good location, but the doors to every single room bang loudly and echo through the hallways. Fine if you don't want to sleep or relax between 10 and way past midnight when guests are returning to their rooms. Never stated anywhere so noisy, particularly disappointing when the problem could be so easily resolved.

Had Sunday lunch at hotel. Excellent service with a smile. Compliments to chef on tender succulent lamb roast and beef delicious. All the veg came in little pans and contemporary styled hot dishes. Nice choice of desserts & coffees. Good ambience with DJ music. A good experience with family and friends and hope to be back! Thank you.

Went to the ABode Manchester with a friend for dinks and evening meal. We were seated straight away and offered drinks immediately. We asked if we could have food a little later as we had gone in early. With it being a quieter time they had no issue with this. When we ordered the food we didn't have to wait long until the food arrived. I had the burger which was well cooked, but still juicy. Food was presented well too. Service was excellent and the staff very friendly. The decor was lovely with a modern stylish look.

A centrally located, laid back boutique style hotel. My room was spacious if a little strangely shaped, but this seemed reasonable given it's an old building. The breakfast was 5 star — the Eggs Benedict being the highlight, however, the attention to detail with breakfast was fantastic throughout and worth the stay alone.

Things you'll definitely notice? Great front desk service. The lift is slower than a snail. The food is amazing. The heater might be off in the room but the Hot water pipes will heat your room up to 22C in hours. YOU will need the air-con to be on to survive. The location is superb. Final thoughts? If you know the quirks of this place, it's easier to stay here. Otherwise, expect some weird surprises.

What a find! Lovely hotel with good mix of old fashioned & modern. Brasserie food was lovely & good price range. You can have fixed price menu or go all out.

I'm on my second night here, I'm staying in a gorgeous room with high ceilings and a beautiful bathroom. All the staff I've met so far have been welcoming and pleasant. The bar is amazing 10/10 service.

Lovely room and bathroom although my king size bed was actually 2 doubles pushed together. My room had a view of a brick wall and some bins which was a shame. Quite pricey but in a great location.

Nice enough surroundings and those attending front of house were efficient, polite and obliging — all good however the event I was attending was supposed to have certain things provided which the management 'trimmed' down as the event unfolded. Less than impressive as this reflected poorly on the event organisers and those inviting people to the event as it was not immediately apparent that this was due to decisions made by hotel management. If that's the operation I have to say I'd think twice before considering using this as a venue. It is a shame as front of house staff could not have been nicer.

Room was extremely hot during the night due to the main pipes that run up the wall. Pipes were exposed and boiling to touch, they could have easily burnt me due to how near they were to the bed. So we tried the air con to cool down the room, but this was so noisy that we couldnt sleep anyway. Also service in the bar and restaurant were very slow. We waited nearly 20 minutes for our desert. And also nearly the same time for 2 cocktails in the bar, even though the bar wasn't busy.

Room looked quite dirty and there were silver fish in the bathroom. Outside noise did not help with sleep. The mattress was overly soft and seemed like it needed to be changed. The bed was two singles put together which was very uncomfortable. Breakfast was appalling! We waited over half an hour for the cooked options to arrive. When they did arrive the poached eggs were overcooked and looked as if they had been left to stand. The breakfast was cold and inedible!

Went with a large group for a work Christmas party. We were seated in the private dining room which was very nice. Decor, drink etc were all great, but the food was terrible. We had preordered from the festive menu and unfortunately the food was just a big disappointment.

Good location. Stayed for anniversary. Very comfy, extra large beds. Check-in staff was a bit cold. Question asked as to why we were staying, but appeared disinterested. Room was directly above lobby, loud music playing, which could be heard from our room (had requested room higher up when booked)

We had a lovely big room on first floor with massive windows. Comfy bed. Good shower and toiletries. Rather basic TV and DVD player in room. Reception staff a bit offish and nobody serving in the bar at all, we waited for 5 mins and nobody came to serve. So no drinks for us, no money for them!

Clean & pleasant room with beautiful big windows. The lobby was lovely & the original Victorian features such as the staircase & lights made it special. Unfortunately it was a little noisy at night being in a busy city centre location.

Very nice breakfast. Room was perfectly pleasent for an overnight stay with work. Really nice bar and restaurant area too. Would definitely visit again. Only issue for me is that there is no parking on site.

Beautiful building. Restaurant was lovely and so were the staff. Thoroughly enjoyed the Sunday lunch. Glad I was not driving as the Prosecco was flowing.

Took the date night package. Room was beautiful and really comfortable, and we only took the "comfortable" level room. Dinner was amazing — great service, lovely food and great atmosphere. Breakfast was disappointing, service not so great and food was so so. All in all a great stay!

Greeted with a friendly smile by the front of house staff. Check-in was speedy and polite. We stayed in the suites on the fifth floor. Beautiful room although the bathroom could do with a bit of a facelift. We enjoyed a delicious breakfast in the morning although service was a bit slow, the food couldn't be faulted. Would recommend to people visiting the city, the entrance is really nice too as they've kept the buildings original staircase. Also really loved all the artwork throughout the hotel. Night staff were also very friendly and helpful after we came in from our night out to collect our keys. Really enjoyed our stay.

Went here for a meal with work colleagues as we had a voucher. Unfortunately there was no lobster left, however the prawns they gave us instead were excellent. Meal was great value and the staff were brilliant. Will be going again.

Room was lovely, but was expecting a more special room for the price I paid. Bath was a little small but did the job. Everything else was very good, just a single hair in bath in terms of cleanliness. The reception are a bit dry and not very inviting but I only had to speak to them to check in and out. Managed to get a 12pm check in and check out was simple.

Nice room. Had air conditioning and a comfy bed. The drinks at the restaurant were way too pricey and the deal for 2 drinks for 10 pounds only applies to a few options so be careful of that!

Restaurant has been refurbished since I last visited on new year eve. Looks amazing, lovely atmosphere. Food was lovely. Waiter/waitresses polite and friendly, however were slow on taking orders and hard to get hold off. Our friend who pregant waited 20 plus minutes for a drink after ordering it. Would definitely go back.

Gorgeous Victorian building, located a stone's throw from Piccadilly Gardens — near the Northern Quarter and the shopping district. Rooms are decorated to a high standard. Very comfortable bed, power shower… only thing missing is a mini fridge, which I'd expect when staying in a 4-star hotel. Very helpful staff.

I was bitterly disappointed with abode. Really poor service — the waiting staff forgot about us a number of times. REALLY overpriced food — don't get me wrong it was nice food but SUCH a little portion. I've never had 2 small scallops on my plate for a starter — it's always at least 3. The bread was ridiculous — on the menu as sourdough — got served literally a slice of stale pan brioche. It also cost £5 for 2 slices! And they served 3 cheeses on a 4 cheese cheeseboard — needless to say I did complain but the staff weren't apologetic — they took the price of the bread off the bill and reduced the cheeseboard by 1/4 — laughable!

Fantastic restaurant. When we first came to Manchester my wife and I went here for our first meal out and it was perfection. We loved it so much that we had our Wedding meal there in September, it was a truly wonderful experience. The food was exceptional and the service was amazing. We were waited on hand and foot. I can't wait to go back!

Very poor indeed. Stale bread rolls, tasteless steak, very overcooked duck and dubious wine pairings. Our meal would have been bad at half the price. It runs as if no one is in charge at all, and certainly no one is checking the food that goes out to customers it was so bad. I think this place is living off its reputation which won't last for much longer at this rate. After a disastrous meal, we were offered a "free coffee". They certainly don't know how to put things right!

Very poor. Bad experience almost all round. Checking in with a debit card means being summoned at 0300 to pay a room service bill — appears the concept of a pre-authorisation doesn't exist here. Room was ok, once the temperature eventually reached a habitable level and the noise off the street died down. Concierge was pleasant on return and very friendly — only too happy to prepare food and drinks etc. Room service later in the evening was only too happy to assist us wherever possible and went some way to restoring our faith in the Abode. We 'dined' at the restaurant. Very disappointing — staff not overly bothered and food frankly horrendous — a little surprised a chef as competent as Michael Cain of Gidleigh Park would put his name to such a poor showing on a Saturday evening. After discussing the general experience with the waiter, we were offered a 'free' coffee as if our goal was only some sort of discount. We were informed people often arrived expecting 'more'? Avoid.

A lovely hotel near the station. Great design and nice rooms as well as amazing food. Only possible downside is the noise from outside in some rooms but it didn't impact my sleep.

Old fabric house converted into a hotel with many original features. We were given a room which sat next to a noisy bar and asked to have an alternative, they upgraded us to a suite, which was absolutely lovely. Love the way they have designed this hotel, the cafe bar looks a bit like a Weatherspoons which doesnt sit within the style of the overall hotel look. The staff that greeted us on reception were great, however the lady that served us breakfast in the cafe bar, I think is in the wrong profession.

Classy and luxurious venue with welcoming and accommodating staff. Menu will not disappoint, great variety and everything is well presented and cooked to perfection. A Manchester must.

A vibrant yet laidback restaurant from one of Britain's most well-known chef Michael Caines. Signature dishes with innovative a la carte menu include the slow poached brill, roast sirloin of beef and Goosnargh duckling. Excellent wine list from around the world. Classy set menu that doesn’t break the bank.

We had a taster menu at Michael Caines restaurant which is at the ABode Hotel — we arrived early and so was directed to the bar as the restaurant was not open. The bar was pleasant enough but despite being quiet it did take a while for us to be served and there was no option to add the drinks bill to our tab. We also had to keep asking when the restaurant would be open when we could go down.

I stayed a couple of nights at ABode and it was okay. But nothing special to be honest. Arriving mid afternoon, the reception involved some lengthy waiting, a surly silent work experience girl and a constantly ringing phone. And my room — whilst thankfully pretty clean — was decorated in a bizarre orange tartan. I ordered room service but for some reason had to go down to the restaurant to pay, which kind of defeats the point! All in all, it's not terrible, but it just isn't that great.
