I have stayed at the Pope many times before but not for a few years. I booked for one night and planned to have dinner at hotel with father in law who lived local. On arrival we found it had had a lot of work done doing it up, and on room allocation we were initially happy with room. But we had a few issue. 1st. Door key car did not work so we had to get it re-coded. Then put on Sky TV is this did not work. Went to reception again and after 30 they still could not fox it. Then in bathroom it had lovely Shower and hand bason both he electric fancy controls But the bason controls you could not get hot water or keep on for more than 1 sec which was annoying. Last room issue was light switch by bed did not work… We then went for dinner. We had a nice table in the conservatory With plenty of room. We got our drinks at the bar and took them up our table. We then waited to take good order. After 35 mins I went to bar and asked it we could order. In another 10 I had to go and ask again for them to finally take the order. Then food then arrived in ok time. Starters were enjoyed by all 5 guests. We then waited anoth 25mins for mains to be delivered. I hadconfig of Duck. Which was worst Duck I ever had. I waited for staff to come and ask if ok but this never happened so I ended up eating parts. We then finished and had waited yet another 25 mins. It was getting far too late and we could not go through another long wait for desserts and so had to go to bar and ask for bill. Very disappointed. On checking out on following morning I went through my issues but no action done except the receptionist would let the manager know. But we have heard nothing. Hence my above review.
