Via Limehouse Hostel Hostel

This hostel could really do with a renovation and more regular deep cleaning. There are some areas which are smelly, and most of the bathrooms seem very dirty. Kitchen and roof area are locked up fairly early. However, it is usually a very low price to stay here, and I love the location by the marina and river. There are worse places to stay, so for the positives, it just scrapes a 3 star rating from me.

Worst and shabby hostel I’ve ever been in. The stuff was very nice but the rest was just so dirty and the air so breathtaking that my stomach turned. I wouldn’t recommend this hostel at all. Furthermore, the breakfast was terrible. The only thing offered was white toast and cereal.

Its not too bad, the room and bathroom were clean but tiny. Staff was nice. The fridge was dirty and full, so maybe a good idea to get a bigger one :)

Horrible place to stay, we were given a basement room which was hot and smelled mouldy, and had no windows. Bunk beds are unsafe and not secured to the floors. Most rooms have bunks that sleep 3, so the top bed is scary. We got a locker and got given abket to a locker that was full already, good job we are honest as we could have helped ourselves to someone else's stuff. Other guests noisy all night. Bathrooms fairly basic and grim. Even the orange juice at breakfast is clearly watered down. Felt unsafe most of the time. One night was one too many.

Fantastic value for money. I got an en suite room for £50 which was basic but comfortable. It's walking distance to Canary Wharf and the staff are friendly and helpful. For 4 times the price I could have gone to a 'budget' hotel and probably had a worse experience. Will definitely stay there again.

Super small rooms for 12 people (like literally 20 square meters) but exceptionally good Wi-Fi.

Not the cleanest hostel I've been to. Reception staff was friendly and helpful. Rooms/dorm was small but that's what you pay for. It's about 15 mins from brick Lane by taxi. There are a couple of low budget options for food in the local area but generally you'll likely want to head into town for food requirements.

Nice hostel located in London Limehouse. Rooms are very clean, fast Wi-Fi available. Staff is very friendly and helpful. Bus station right next to the hostel. I would recommend this hostel to other people!

Good location but too small room for so many people.

Staff are very helpful. I have to particularly mention Rebecca who is a very charming lady who makes you feel at home any time of day and Madeline a nice and pleasant welcome they give you. Over all the entire staff there are great bunch to deal with.

Price is not bad and showers are kept clean. Not much choice for shopping nearby. Transport in and out of central London is close.

I stayed over a weekend that was incredibly warm in London due to Hurricane Ophelia and yet the radiators were on throughout the hostel. The pictures of the rooms? I don't know what hostel those photos are from because this was cramped with small rooms with no room to open the ensuite door never mind get changed in the room. The desk staff were rude and abrupt, I work in customer service myself I understand it is stressful but to basically bark information at your customers was just poor.

Stayed for six nights in the room with two single beds and one private bathroom. The room was quite loud as it was next to the door on the second floor, but the quality of the beds, blankets, pillows as well as the shower was great. The team, especially the ladies that assisted with the check in/out and helped us print football tickets were efficient, friendly and always ready to help. Would definitely recommend/return (in a room further down from the hallway entrance! ).

This place is nothing special but it does have a nice paint job. Communal kitchen is tiny for so many rooms and it seems as though the staff don't really care too much but it is cheap for London and walking distance to Canary Wharf and a few other places with good bus and tube links.

Based on Commercial Rd, this is a super efficient hostel with great staff. Clean and safe and comfortable, at very affordable rates.

I really don't care if this is what you get for not paying much, but it wasn't nice. Breakfast was not fulfilling and not good (toast and cereals), some rooms were PACKED with people and the bathrooms were small and uncomfortable. You couldn't even rent towels but had to BUY them. There was so much noise from a different school group and they didn't do anything against it. Hated staying there.

Front receptionist Thomas was as rude as could be! There was a guy earlier, around 1pm-2pm that was ALOT nicer. Asked "Thomas" what could be done since room was a sauna and he did not care about what we wanted. Very bad service! Back in America, people like this get fired!

We stayed here for two nights as a group and had booked out a six bed dorm. The staff were generally friendly and our room dash clean. The room was a little like being in a sauna however, presumably heating up during the day and not cooling down. Bunks are triple stacked which provided some comedic value in the mornings as we got out. Breakfast was worth the £3.50. Don't visit the guest kitchen it was vile — spilt liquids, sticky floor, fridge was disgusting… Don't think it is ever cleaned! But overall worth the money — cheap place to stay.

If you are really desperate for a nights stay, Limehouse would do. It's crammed, hot, and the Wi-Fi is extremely spotty. I wouldn't recommend this hostel to anyone traveling through London. The front desk people are very nice and it's moderately clean.

Stayed in a two bed room with private bath last night, you won't find a better place to stay, for the price even close to that location. Slap bang in the centre of the city, short hop from the DLR station, room was small but perfectly adequate, comfy clean beds & bathroom and nice enough in general. Anyone rating this place poorly doesn't appreciate the word hostel and is confusing it with a hotel. Wouldn't stay for a week, as you're paying for basic, but would absolutely stay again for a night or two.

It's a convenient budget hostel for spending a few nights in London. Well situated and connected by bus and tube to reach easily all major tourist attractions. Staff tries its best to keep it clean and friendly and even clean your plates after having breakfast. Rooms are small and bathrooms are shared and those who do not appreciate it, should book a hotel and not a hostel!

By far the nicest hostel I've ever stayed in. Staff was incredibly friendly and helpful. We rented a locker but ended up not feeling the need to use it for our personal belongings. Forgotten toiletries and towels and such could be purchased cheaply at the desk. Only complaints were nighttime noise levels outside, and misplaced expectations of the purchaseable breakfast being hot bacon and eggs. Would definitely stay again.

Loved my experience at the hostel. Friendly and efficient staff, rooms, toilets and showers very clean. Reception 24 hours. Nice and tidy common area. Definitely would come back. Very easy location to find, only 5 minuts from dlr station.

I'd only recommend it if you're alone and looking for something cheap, or you're groups of 4s and can get a full room all together.

Clean rooms and with all the services although the attention was a little to duty.

Not walkable from city centre but there is a bus stop next to the hostel. Room (private twin) is a bit stuffy. Wifi is good.

Multi-Purpose place, Ikea-style furniture, right and independent shower. Breakfast 3, 5 pounds.

It's less than £15/night a 5 minute walk from Limehouse DLR. Breakfast is a tad overpriced at £3.50 as I'd prefer a croissant and coffee at Prêt to what they have here — but that depends on your tastes. You share room with people you don't know and most people can get into every area with a small amount of ingenuity. Take care of yourself and your stuff and you'll be fine (there are lockers for valuables outside the rooms). I was here for 3 weeks, met people who stayed here 6+ months. :) It's a real good place to stay in near-central London if you've got your expectations set right.

Very good cleanliness, however, is underground. Very noisy.

The rooms do not have — such as on the official website, a private bathroom described — in each case, but there are on each floor, a unisex bathroom with (well noticed! ) 5 (! ) Showers and 4 toilets, which are dirty and very bad smell (no ventilation). Some of the rooms don't even have a sink in the room. The room consists of beds which are uncomfortable and of poor quality. There are Latex mattresses that are high-reach beds are only full of pain, because the bed frame so hard. The Lounge is small, loud and uncomfortable. The walls are thin, you can hear everything. Also to the outside, where a well-traveled road, is to hear everything. The Breakfast I could not try yet, but I can already say — do NOT BOOK! The Hostel is a disaster, the only advantage is probably that it is so cheap. (I would not pay for these conditions definitely)

Was real extremely closely in the 4-bed rooms. The window of our room (003) was only in an interior. Not a single hook on the wall and the door handle is also de-energized. And around 2pm in the night then the fire alarm, even though nothing was
The Breakfast was just Toast with a variety of cheese/sausage and jam.

12 beds in an 18 square meter rooms … Nasty food and crappy location are included. Too bad there is no 0 star

Absolute joke.

Much to expensive for what you get. We were herded as a class with nine people in a tiny room. As we can us 3 of our group in a 4-bed room to change, however, is much smaller. In one night strangers came into our room and it turned out the beds, obviously, are the 3 which have now been put in us with Free goods, which clarifies the competence of the employees. In between, you also noted that you could not open the window because of a curtain Verhindete this. The 6 guys in this tiny room is a disaster. Breakfast was very poor. Lappriger Toast, 1 Cent jams the packages, and the coffee was good, and like to go as a rat poison. The one star I give the sometimes overwhelmed but always friendly staff of the hostel. Who, as a group, worse living conditions than in prisons close to experience I can recommend this Hostel to the heart.

In terms of hostels, this ranks as the worst I've ever stayed at. Noisy all night, loud bangs that sound like gun shots, doors slamming, walls are super thing and you can hear people talk all night from all around you. Rooms are super tiny even for London. Most of the staff is rude and some came into our room while we were there. No help booking of activities or tours. Location is very far out, but with a 5 minute walk you can be at railway, and £6.50 gets you all day on the railway and tube from this zone. Leave at least an hour to Heathrow airport. Would definitely never come back. Pay a few GBP more and go anywhere else!

BEWARE! I stayed there from 4th June to 6th June 2016, in a 9-bed room for both men and women. I woke up the 6th at about 8.30 am and found out that all of my money, my mobile phone, and even my Oyster card was stolen. Staff called the police like ONCE but since they didn't reply I had to physically walk to the police and ask them to come. The dome camera NEXT to my room door was not correctly programmed and so the cops couldn't check whether someone entered/got out my room (and/or corridor to my room) or not. I want to highlight the fact that it is a DOME CAMERA which can be programmed in all positions (360° coverage). Moreover, the hostel staff were not supportive in my opinion and refused to refund me the night stating "it is not our policy". Actually, I am firmly convinced that the thieves were the Italian men sharing the room with me. All of them checked out that very same morning — police obviously didn't investigate that much, notwithstanding my suspects (but that's another matter). So, long story made short: — no security or camera and staff was not really helpful. I am afraid that something worse could have happened to me or could happen to anyone hosted there and they would have no chance to identify criminals or offer support.

It's ok. You get what you can expect from a hostel. Very small rooms with no more space than the beds need and a nice sitting area on the ground floor. But it was dirty as if the cleaning staff would only clean once a week in the showers and communal area, which is definitely not enough for the amount of people staying there.

Staff very welcoming and kind. Rooms ok, but small and hot. WE MUST PAY FOR TOWELS! Otherwise, super beautiful design.

Staff have some sort of stick up there ass and need to realise they are working in a hostel not the ritz. I can tell you now they would never be able to get a job cleaning the ritz, let alone working reception. Had to tell myself to calm down before I punched the guy out… Appart from the arrogant/lazy/obnoxious staff the place was good. Its a hostle and took my booking last minute as my Airbnb booking was cancelled. Rooms are hot but the place is clean. Unfortunately I wouldnt stay again due to the few staff members who ruined what could have been a enjoyable experience.

Review Limehouse Hostel London East Side: I have been staying at hostels for over 25 years, and have never experienced customer service like this! Simply Amazing! It makes me feel more like I am staying at a 5 Star Hotel! (I spoke with the manager & turns out his background has been in management at Marriot) I checked in late, past the time they had for dinner, & commented too bad I did not come earlier? I see that you had fish & chips available for dinner? Would you like some? I can get that for you. GREAT! and I ate after 10pm without having to go out! I was so tired, I overslept & I was sorry I missed breakfast that I had paid for the night before. No problem, let me get you something… and I had a sandwich & muffin & tea, and he said, I will bring you your tea! REALLY? Wow! This is not like a hostel I have stayed at! and the hostel itself? Recently remodeled, clean modern, and affordable, I booked through airbnb and would have booked directly if I had found them online. Maybe they could use more internet marketing? The only small things I found was they could use some hooks in the bathroom to hang clothes and some small stuff like that? Most of the time the internet was better than most places in London & I had trouble getting Wi-Fi to post this? Many of the other hostels were full & they had a group of German Students who I spoke with who were very friendly, Since this is a newer place, you may be able to find a room here? I plan to be back!

So a bad Hostel, I have never experienced before. You should not rely on the pictures… the entrance area looks just as beautiful as on the pictures BUT the room max. 8mq large (for 6 people). Without the cabinets, no towels, and if it is then what mithat, you can not hang up. The suitcase you can push, not even under the bed. The cleanliness leaves to be desired also. Both 2cm of dust, as well as leaking joints. The toilets and showers in the hallway are not gender segregated. In addition, you have to dance in two things all the time, so that the light stays on. The only way to be able to, at least, his jacket hanging, is, unfortunately, only in the most impossible corners, where you gets a turn. The 3 floors beds have rust no crossbar and can be reached on such a small room area, of course, very bad… climbing experience is desired. The Breakfast consists of Toast, jam and a variety of cheese and meat… at least good coffee.
