Pleasant hostel with a clean and modern vibe. Lots of purple! Staff were friendly. Mattress was sagging a lot; staff made note of this and will presumably address it, which surprised me. Our 6-bed room happened to be facing the street, so there was some noise throughout the night and into the morning. The bar/restaurant downstairs is pretty barebones but has good prices and a decent selection for its size. Laundry facilities are affordable and work well. Overall, great value for the price.

Stayed there for 1 night and it was nice. Room mates were great and quiet. Front desk staff was friendly and always answered our questions.

As I am writing this review I am on a toilet in there hostel. Every 30 seconds the motion lights turn off. On of the bathrooms does not have a soap deapensder. Non of them have a dryer. It is in a busy city street which means there is lots of noise. Some of the lockers are broken and the beer tap in the pub doesn't work. It is clear to me that the company running this place is trying to do so as cheaply as possible. As a result I do not believe they deserve a good review. They did however have nice and helpful staff.

Near the center. The rooms were quite large, but the shower was a bit small.

Perfect for a weekend getaway. I have stayed in a room for 4 people with my partner, and we have been alone. The room had sheets on and a large safe under the bed, to put the suitcase and backpack (you have to bring padlock). On our floor there were 2 bathrooms, one normal and the other with shower, shared for 3 rooms, so no problem. It is very new, so the facilities are modern. Breakfast is fine, for what is in London, they put it from 7 to 10, for only 5 lbs/person. The perfect area, a bus stop at the door, ticket does not reach 2 pounds per trip. From the hotel to BIG BEN in just 10 minutes by bus, and 30 walk. I'll definitely come back. Good price.

Very nice hostel for the price (costed me about 17 pounds). Had plenty of clean bathrooms, and the linen was very lean/comfortable. Reception staff were nice when answering any questions I had about London. Each bed also had curtains so I could turn on my bed light without disrupting others. If I remember correctly, each bed also had a power plug — — very convenient. Would recommend others to choose.

This hostel brought together everything we could hope for. Impeccable cleanliness, respect for privacy, lovely staff. For example, our flight had been delayed by 3am, so we arrived at 4am. We were greeted by a smiling staff who made us laugh and unwind. They didn't even comment on our delay.
I recommend this hostel which, although an out-of-centre, is ultimately equal distance from all the key points of London and well served (even at night)

The breakfast has a good price and it is complete. That's the only good thing I can say.
The beds are old and uncomfortable. The plugs are far away. The location is not the best. The Wi-Fi is literally non-existent.
I don't recommend this place for a visit to London.

Breakfast is Pesimo, people make a lot of noise, but the receptionist and workers in general are very friendly.

The cancer did not go, the rooms smelt, and the Belgians could not keep their mouths. The food was too dirty. The laundry service was also very poor. If you don't want to die, you don't have to go there. The depression was also very bad.

Quality excellent price. Rooms clean and nicely decorated. The hostel's location is convenient to walk around.

I had a horrible experience at this hostel. I checked into my room and was pretty quickly harrassed by an older man in my room. At first I let it go and planned to switch rooms the next morning but then the guy kept inviting me into his bed. When I went to reception with the issue and told them I needed to change rooms immediately, the man in reception sided with the guy from my room and told me because I had been polite and sat with him earlier in the evening, he wasn’t completely wrong to invite me to sleep with him. The guy at reception told me there were no available beds left, which I knew wasn’t true because one of my friends was supposed to spend the night there and never showed up but didn’t cancel, so I knew for a fact there was a fully paid for empty bed somewhere in the hostel. The man from my room kept hanging around the lobby while I was trying to get it all sorted out and I became uncomfortable being in the building at all. I decided I needed to leave. Because it was 3am I agreed to pay for that night but asked for a refund for the other two nights I had booked. The man at reception refused to give me a refund, which under normal circumstances I would be more understanding about but considering the situation it seemed a bit ludicrous. I then tried to offer my fully paid for bed to a homeless man in the lobby who desperately needed a roof over his head and the guy at reception refused that as well.

Nice place. Very economical. Breakfast available as an option. The place has small locker but u have to carry a padlock. And toilet and bathroom is common. And not so well maintained. Buses and trains are available. Bus stops are nearby and train station is half a mile walk.

To be a hostel is very good! Mostly pretty clean, compared to the average of London hotels! In addition to the dorms has available rooms with private bathroom; I stayed in a triple room with private bathroom and TV. The facility is fairly recent, the bathrooms look new. As for breakfast, in the norm, although not very varied. In my opinion it is located in a very good location as it is about 500m from the Elephant & Castle Metro stop where you can take the Brown (Bakerloo) and Black (northen line) line. In about 10/15 min You can get directly (without changing) to London Bridge or Piccadilly Circus.

Stayed for 2 nights. Loved the place. An Italian girl check us in with a lovely smile and sent me to the bar to wait for check-in. I think the lady name was Rose, she told me all about the area and other safestays. Well if they are nice just like this one then definite will stay at another. Thanks to all the staff :-)

Firstly, the staff are completely useless. No one was able to answer our questions, no one knew whether they were making food over Christmas, or whether we could store food somewhere. We left the hostel two days after we arrived and found somewhere else to stay, and no one could help us in regard to a refund. So they owe us three nights back! Still waiting to hear back… Secondly, no cooking facilities. No food storage, not even access to a microwave or hot water (for noodles etc). We were meant to be staying here over Christmas so was not ideal. They offered food down stairs, but didn’t always stock the menu items. Also, some nights we were hanging out downstairs by the kitchen and no staff ever showed up to run it? Like this is people only option for food here and no one showed up? No signs or notice given. Very inconvenient. Honestly, don’t waste your time staying here. We moved to the Wombats Hostel and it was PERFECT. We stayed in hostels around Europe for four months and this was the only one we had an issue with.

The hostel/hostel is generally fine. Its location is good and is close to several bus stations as well as Metro at Elephant & Castle. The staff has behaved well, friendly some and dry others. Except for one, the rest treated you like "a number" and there was rather little proximity.
The rooms are big but they dwarf if they are full. The "cages" where you leave the bags/suitcases is fine, they need padlock as in the rest of places of this class. If you don't have a padlock, you can order it at the reception, as well as the adapter, cosmetic bag, adapter, soap… You can buy the towel ($7) or rent it ($2).
The bed is comfortable. I want to highlight very positively the curtains that have each of them to avoid waking up in the morning when another guest turns on the light. Very well in this regard. The negative side is the distance between the plug and the bed, especially if you rest in the top bunk. In addition, some plugs do not work. Valued very negatively.
The shower and the bathroom, in my case were in the same room. Inevitably dirty, but they're not as bad as you can imagine.
I emphasize positively: the "Hall", the reception, the computer room (they are of payment, but they are well of price) and the bar.
Overall Rating: Well, comfortable and well located, but better in small respects.

The place is nicely has good breakfast, good mattresses and Nordics, the But the shower water gets out and the organization of the new employees.

The people at the reception desk were friendly and very helpful with anything. They were open 24hrs. Also the rooms were very clean and I loved that the beds had curtains so if someome wanted the light on and I was tired I could simply close mine. The bathrooms were clean and the location is great for any site seeing. There are food stores within walking distance and everything was affordable.

I understand this place is great for low budget, but the staff here and the one in charge of marketing is false advertising. The couches have holes in them. The food served in the bar is absolutely disgusting, ordered a hamburger and the bun was frozen hard, couldn't even bite into the damn thing. Then the fish and chips are worse than the fish sticks served in a school cafeteria. Also if you don't plan on buying a private room be expected to be woken up by the cleaning staff. This place will come in the room and clean the empty spots even if there are people who have reservations lasting days later are sleeping. When asked why they woke us up, I was told "because there is no time to sleep. " Well excuse me I didn't think a paying customer should be expected to be woken up just because other spots have to be cleaned. You're telling me that there's not other rooms that can be used or the room can't be cleaned after noon? Wouldn't recommend this place to anyone. It reminded me of a homeless shelter I used to volunteer at. Ruined my london experience. The staff is rude. There's an older lady working in the bar area who acts as if she is your mother and screams at everyone. The breakfast is literally cereal and toast. Nothing special don't waste your time. Prisoners eat and are treated better than one is treated here.

Prices are unbeatable, for London at least. The location is nice too. There are no plugs on the top beds and the bathrooms/showers are few and rarely free. Wifi is excellent though. Wish there would have been more "common" space.

Beautiful Place Super Re commendable.

The place is very comfortable to stay and easy access to the metro. On the first day it was easy to get lost in finding you room if you end up taking the stairs to your room. The staff is very helpful on answering many of my questions. The few cons is that our toilet was broke so we had to walk down the hall to either shower or use the restroom. Also, there was a wall blocking the window so the room can get very hot. Their breakfast was delicious though!

It was super clean and comfortable. A lot of privacy was available in the rooms with curtains you can draw all around the bed and also cages underneath the bed to store and lock your personal belongings, I fit my whole huge hiking backpack in there no problem. You need your own lock but they sell them in the lobby as well if you need one.

I know other people have had good experiences here, however, mine was anything but. First and foremost, if you want privacy in your own room (which also includes a safety factor), do NOT stay here. The first night my tour group was here, one of the staff members just used his key card to open our door… we were in there, and this was while I was showering. Although my roommate tried to close the door and said we didn't need anything (multiple times), he pushed the door open so he could see into our room. Later that night after we got back, our lights were on (and we were absolutely positive we turned them off). I went to reception and asked for a "Do Not Disturb" sign, which we promptly put on our door. The next night when we returned, our sign was in the middle of our floor. Trash had not been taken out, nothing had been touched (cleaning wise). So why was someone in our room? The next night, we returned again to our sign on handle inside the door. Again, nothing was cleaned, trash wasn't taken out, toilet paper wasn't replaced. Still not sure why someone took time to go in the room. Aside from the privacy factor, our floor was extremely dirty. After showering and walking around a few minutes, our feet were covered in dirt/animal hair… and we did not have an animal in our room. If you're cool with staff disregarding your privacy/request to not bother you/your belongings/the room you paid for, as well as a bit of filth, congratulations! This is the place for you.

It's really nice but it would be nice if they had a kitchen to prepare your own meal. Though it has a bar and the breakfast they make it's amazing. The staff is helpful and the hotel is always clean. Well connected with the public transport

This was my second time here and I brought two friends with me this time. We were very happy about everything. The cleanliness of the place was excellent, the staff friendly and very helpful (we had a little problem and they solved it quickly and efficiently). Only comment for the better experience is that accessibility could be better. The first floor has couple of stairs and I have a walker. So it was a bit inconvenient to ask some one else to carrying it.

Convenient location in a quite pleasant area of London. I booked a bed in SafeStay for one night when I first came to London. Guessed. And I needed Waterloo station, from which the next day I had to go, nearby, and to the historic center on foot you can walk.
The service is quite consistent with the price, nothing supernatural from the hostel to wait. The socket to charge the phone, found. Wi-Fi connection was available. The shower is OK. Breakfast too. The bed was with a curtain, but I was so exhausted on the road that I honestly didn't care.
While the next day was hanging around the city, after being discharged, the suitcase was left with them without any extra charge.

I booked for me and my three kids, two out of 10 and a 15-year-old. From June 22nd to 28th. A reservation made in the month of January. Arriving at the hostel I was told that I cannot stay all the time booked as it is not a suitable place for children! And that they have a group of young people who enter on Saturday, 24 and we can not stay in this hostel for security reasons! Since there are many young people who come from sprees. I mean, a scandal. I had to go to a hotel, paying more expensive, of course.

All very clean and relatively quiet. Grid boxes to complete in the rooms. Enough clean sanitary facilities available. Wi-Fi is often overloaded in the rooms.

The room was OK, the bathroom however very small for 6 people. The lattice bed boxes as cabinet replacement have not left a good impression either. The location is very good: Nearby Metro station, close and many shopping facilities. At night, however, due to the lively surroundings it was quite noisy and felt you heard a police siren every half hour. For breakfast There was unfortunately only a small selection and there was only limited enough there.

Clean facility which deserves its price considering London's super-expensive accommodation rates. Wi-Fi works smooth and the lobby atmosphere is great.

The best hostel of its kind. Beds have all-round curtains, which is really unusual among London hostels. Also each has a light. There are large lockable baskets (though not lockers as such — so bring a padlock). Bathrooms very clean. Great value. Bar closes quite early. Free Wi-Fi, cheap breakfast option.

Clean showers and bathrooms, privacy curtains built into beds and storage lockers provided. Noise can filter in a little from the outside though. Overall a great experience.

I really wanted to like this place. It's a very modern building with great beds and the curtains for privacy is fantastic. This could have been a 4 star review. Unfortunately the staff is rude and disinterested, and they charge for everything. There is no hostel vibe and there were children running around the staircases screaming at all hours of the night. Worst of all there is no access to Wi-Fi after 12 am… come on…

I was pretty disappointed with my stay here. There is a lack of soap dispensers in most of the bathrooms and even fewer with paper towels/hand dryers. Only one of the elevators were running and not very well at that. The staff was nice enough, but not very resourceful. The website is nicer than the lodge itself and the reviews are very generous.

This hotel is a very comfortable and friendly hotel. Going there, I expected a better breakfast even if it was very good. I would recommend this hostel when you irrez in London.

Stayed a night here. Staff were very helpful and room/toilets were pretty clean. Room for improvement lies with equipping upper bunk beds with power sockets, providing locks for the "lockers" and installing soap dispensers in the toilets.

In general it is a nice accommodation, the rooms were ok. But the breakfast could be better there wasn't many to choose from. The staff wasn't always so friendly. It was great that you had Wi-Fi in the whole building.

Very good, the hostel felt very smart, almost like a Travelodge. The facilities were great with an ensuite toilet and shower in the room and with more in the corridors too. Wi-Fi throughout was very nice too! Didn't use the bar or have breakfast so can't comment on them. The location was good, around 5-10 mins away from Elephant and Castle tube station.

It's cheap and you can make reservations from third party pages. The rooms are very simple, but it's ok if you just want a room to sleep. It has Wi-Fi all over the building.

I have stayed here plenty. Staff lovely, rooms great. Apart from when I booked a room with no shared bathroom. This was the smallest closet space of a room ever. But thankfully in the morning I was able to move without a charge.

The rooms are very clean staff are co-operative and helpful. The breakfast is expensive regarding the quality, and it's not worth it at all. 10 mins walk to tube station and bust stop just outside the building which is a great location for transportation. The area is not very cozy. Top bunk beds don't have wall plug and the Wi-Fi in the rooms are too weak. Overall compare to the price that you'd normally pay in London the place is good.

Awesome Hostel! Very good quality, staff, rooms and public spaces! And a very good breakfast.

Helpful and friendly staff. No curfew. Clean and well equipped. Separate toilets and showers in dorm rooms and in 1st floor hallway. Sizable padlock metal cage lockers from under the beds. No-fee exchange money withdrawal machine. Cheap and well equipped laundry room with tumble dryer. Real easy to get to Waterloo if you've got business there or further by bus or tube. Bus stop right outside hostel. Free Wi-Fi with strong signal. Would definitely recommend. There's a G Baldwin & Co shop right nearby which has vegan and natural options to hygiene items etc.

I stayed there for 3 nights. It was a good experience for me. Only 10min walk from Elephant & Castle tube and train station. Also city bus is easily accessible. Staff is very cooperative. Rooms are attached with private toilet. Personally I preffer separate toilet when 6 people staying in the same room, so attached toilet was bit inconvenient to me. There os Pakistani restaurant "Chatkhara" nearby, just 5min walk down toward train station. Highly recommended for those who love Pakistani food. Definitely go for Biryani, you'll enjoy that.

Excellent value for money. Clean and modern looking and well-located. Breakfast is obviously not an all English but for the money it's all you need. On one night there was a really noisy group of kids but the staff professionally dealt with the situation in a fair manner and the nice atmosphere came back. I would say this is ideal for large groups (schools, uni etc) as well as for budget conscience travellers. For central London it's a bargain and a nice change from the more run-down and dirty hostels we've stayed in. We'll be back.

Safestay is a comfortable, clean, no frills hostel which is well worth the price you pay especially considering it is in London where you pay astronomical fees for accommodation. The only thing I could say might take it a step up is having a sink in the rooms because it's annoying having to walk to the public bathroom every time you want to brush your teeth. Other than that I would say this is the best you can get in the area for this price.

Excellent is highly recommended if you come in the family has each room for 6 people and very affordable in addition and the breakfast cojes what you fancy. … I invite you to visit also perfectly located in the centre of London.

If you look for a painful experience in London, this is the place to be. The hostel management has decided that sophisticated amenitties such as hot water or a heater are not that important.

Keep in mind that this is not a fully-blown hotel. Breakfast is all you can eat, but consists only of bread, yoghurt, cereal, juices and some hot drinks. Rooms are warm and blankets are really thick. Wifi available at the bar only. Also, no european wall sockets here so bring a converter. Clean rooms and corridors.

The hotel looks quite nice from the outside. Its about 15 minutes from the Elephant and Castle underground station. The rooms and the hotel in general look clean from the outside. Wifi is only available in the bar. The shower developed such a nasty smell that I had to throw up (literally! ) when I wanted to take a shower. So I chose to go to one of the public showers on the floor where I found used underwear. It stayed there for at least 4 days so I can imagine how often they clean the showers. The toilets on the floor constantly were out of toilet paper. The receptionists were unfriendly. Since you are not allowed to put your suitcase/stuff where you want in the room you need to put them in a box under your bed. (there are no closets so your clothing needs to stay in your suitcase) these boxes would constantly break or fall down on me, leaving several bruises. I do not recommend safestay at all and am lucky to be back home.

I visited the 'Poshtell' on a trip to London. It is in a great location — only a short walk from both Kennington and Elephant and Castle Underground Stations. The rooms are very nice, and large groups will find that there are also rooms for them (I myself stayed in a room of 8). Even the group rooms are of a very high standard, with a beautiful purple colour scheme; 'en suite' toilets and shower; privacy curtains; bins; underbed storage units; a large mirror; and reading lights. The food is served in a restraint downstairs, and it is buffet. The whole thing was quite cheap, too.

Scam! They accused our group of breaking of their rules and kept the deposit. They also didn't inform our group leader who had put down her credit card details. They specifically instruct cleaning staff only to look if any rule was broken or could be interpreted as broken. They didn't even clean the room or refilled the toilet paper. That is unacceptable for a room occupied by eight adolescent students. Also breakfast and showers can't be defined as breakfast nor showers. Keep away from here.

Nice building. Really well decorated and maintained. En suite room with three bunk beds and a few minutes walk from elephant and castle underground. Staff helpful and bar reasonably priced. Oh, and E&C isn't as bad as it used to be, feels like a much safer place these days. Definitely worth using for a group of friends staying in London.

Pros: — Nice and clean modern rooms with ensuite bathroom/shower — Large downstairs bar/lounge w/ pool and outdoor seating area — ATM in the lobby — Close to Elephant and Castle (easy to get around London with Underground from there) — Beds have privacy curtains and lights Cons: — TONS of 12 — 15 year olds running around screaming and jamming up the Wi-Fi, which is annoying. — Wifi internet only available downstairs, not in the rooms — No power for phone charging at each bed London and their ridiculous laws, the windows can only open about an inch and the rooms don't have ventilation, so if you stay here in the summer plan on the rooms being muggy, smelly, and hot. Also, the hotel is trying to be energy conscious, so the lights are all LED and motion activated. The lights will turn off while you're in the bathroom after about a minute, and the showers will only last about 2 minutes before turning off automatically, so showering is a fun process of waving your arms outside the curtain every 30 seconds to get the lights to come back on, and turning the shower back on every couple minutes, while trying not to fall on super slippery shower floor. Overall, it's not bad. I'd probably stay there again, but definitely not if it's warm out.

Hostel very clean and practical. Their lockers and clean beds to save all that which you do not want that they urge you or stolen. The service is good and correct. In the hall there are machines of drinks and food if you get hunger. The only downside I can find it is that it is a little expensive for the situation is that it is not central.
