I had a horrible experience at this hostel. I checked into my room and was pretty quickly harrassed by an older man in my room. At first I let it go and planned to switch rooms the next morning but then the guy kept inviting me into his bed. When I went to reception with the issue and told them I needed to change rooms immediately, the man in reception sided with the guy from my room and told me because I had been polite and sat with him earlier in the evening, he wasn’t completely wrong to invite me to sleep with him. The guy at reception told me there were no available beds left, which I knew wasn’t true because one of my friends was supposed to spend the night there and never showed up but didn’t cancel, so I knew for a fact there was a fully paid for empty bed somewhere in the hostel. The man from my room kept hanging around the lobby while I was trying to get it all sorted out and I became uncomfortable being in the building at all. I decided I needed to leave. Because it was 3am I agreed to pay for that night but asked for a refund for the other two nights I had booked. The man at reception refused to give me a refund, which under normal circumstances I would be more understanding about but considering the situation it seemed a bit ludicrous. I then tried to offer my fully paid for bed to a homeless man in the lobby who desperately needed a roof over his head and the guy at reception refused that as well. (Meanwhile I saw the homeless guy again at a different hostel the next day and they did let him stay, so there are better people out there! ) Basically, this Safestay was far from safe and honestly, pretty misogynistic. I was being straight up harrassed by a man in my room and the employees did absolutely nothing about it and even took his side. Don’t stay here.
