Review of Mowbray Court Hotel 3*

I have traveled all through the world for years, so I know what to expect when booking cheaper accommodations, however the reviews of this hotel are much too generous. The twin rooms were not “spacious” as some reviews claimed. We were first put in a twin room that was most certainly not a twin room. There was absolutely no space for two people to fit any bags and themselves comfortably. If you are traveling with another person and you bring anything larger than a backpack, go for a triple room. The pictures on the booking website are not even close to what the actual rooms look like. Just be prepared. We did upgrade, but it was a fight. The staff told us so many contradictory things it was ridiculous. The bathroom size was great. However, the shower was incredibly small. That normally is not an issue, but with the rainfall shower head, you cannot move out of the water at all to lather, shave, etc. You must turn the water completely off. Cleanliness is not the best. The floors had massive stains and the walls incredibly scratched up. We had a pillow that had a stain on it — not the cover, the actual pillow. No big deal, we just called the front desk. We were told there were absolutely no extra pillows anywhere in the hotel, but they could bring a new cover to hide the stain. However, the worst was the staff and the fact that we did have stuff stolen out of the room. We tore the room apart and had other eyes help up look to make sure the item was truly gone. It was. We called the front desk and they refused to send a manager up to the room and instead sent the maid that cleaned the room. Of course, she insisted that nothing was touched of our items. Once we went down to the front desk our concerns were immediately dismissed, because “there is no way one of their staff would do that since they were trained not to. ” There was no we will look through laundry or nothing. We were called liars for suggesting that someone could have entered our room to take something.
