Two days ago, on our stay at Ibis Styles Kensington London, my newlywed wife and I were appalled by the lack of staff competence and the standard of the rooms offered. Upon arrival, we requested the assistance of the reception staff for directions around London for the main attractions. However, it seemed the gentleman we were liaising with had extremely poor English skills and poorly navigated us. We instead visited the local Mariott hotel where the staff were polite, helpful, assisted us with all our queries and booked or reservations and provided us with maps. Following that, we checked into our room to find the room to be extremely small – not even fitting our luggage. With further inspection, the bathroom looked to be aged and unclean. The shower basin was dark and dirty with sealant coming of the glass panels. Last time I checked, Ibis Styles was not a hostel. After our second night, we feared that the roof immediately outside our room was going to cave in at any time when the air conditioner began to heavily drain through the ceiling, drenching the surroundings. I could not upload the videos of this via your email form, however if you provide me with an email, I am happy to send them through. The roof was soft and obviously not maintained. We immediately rushed to reception to advise them of the issue and they did not seem phased by the issue. Fearing for our safety, we requested a refund so that we could stay at a more accommodating and safer hotel. However, this was denied and instead they relocated us to a lower ground room. You are better off staying at a hostel!
