My partner and I stayed here for two nights just after Easter for the duration of our Wedding, which was taking place in nearby Islington. During our stay, we were accompanied by our excitable, yet well behaved dog, who, much to our surprise given his large size (being a mastiff mix) was warmly welcomed by every staff member he had the pleasure of meeting. Located in Charterhouse Square, the hotel is just a short walk from Barbican Tube, as well as a nearby NCP car park, thou…gh is within the Congestion Zone. Although, given the circumstances of our stay, we had no time to take a look around the local area, it is very much within the heart of London, yet despite this the hotel itself feels quiet, and serene. The room itself was a Mal Club located at the front of the building, overlooking Charterhouse Square itself. It's one of the hotel's designated 'dog friendly' rooms, having been furnished with a dog bed and water bowl, as well as all the other accoutrements one would expect to find: TV, stocked mini-fridge, coffee machine (with two pods), kettle (with coffees, teas and hot chocolate), safe, large wardrobe, hairdryer, etc. The room was more than big enough for our many bags, as well as enough space to allow for a number of people helping to get us ready on the morning of our Wedding day (relatives, make-up artist, etc. ) The bed was extremely comfortable, however, the temperature in the room upon our arrival was set quite high, which made for a somewhat uncomfortable sleep, and it wasn't until he early hours that we realised we had access to the thermostat! The bathroom was very clean and sizeable, with a double size sink and walk-in shower. The shower had numerous settings, including 'rainforest' — which was wonderful — and 'deluge' — which we soon discovered would flood the bathroom floor if left on for too long. Room service was possibly the highlight of the entire experience at Malmaison. Our first night in the hotel followed a long day of travelling and organising last-minute requirements for the following day's celebrations, so we arrived back rather late and somewhat famished. Given this, we opted to order from their Chez Mal menu; a three course meal with a bottle of wine was delivered within twenty minutes, and was utterly sublime. The next evening we returned from our Wedding reception to be greeted by a complimentary bottle of fizz on ice from the management, which was a wonderful surprise. And once again, later that evening, we placed a room service order for four tapas style 'slates' — each an utter delight. All in all, our stay at Malmaison was second to none; it's location is perfect for a central-London stay, the staff are extremely welcoming, the amenities tick all the boxes, the rooms are clean and well maintained, and you would have a hard time finding fault in the food. 11/10.
