Review of The Brook Green Hotel 3*

The place is a very nice pub overlooking Brook Green, a small lovely park in west London. The area is great, and becoming ever more popular with more restaurant opening up. Close to transportation, easy access to Heathrow, Westfield shopping and Apollo theatre. Area is safe, very suitable for families. The problem is that the place is managed by unprofessional people who don't know how to manage an hotel and who don’t understand that in 2013 you actually should keep a place clean. I honestly avoided eating here after having seen my room and having a look around the kitchen area. My room was filthy. It has not been vacuumed for months; the amount of dust accumulated on carpet was ridiculous. Bathroom was filthy, with marks and spills from people who stayed there before. Clearly toilet had not been cleaned in a while. The window in the bathroom was broken and could not be opened. No toilet paper either! Walls are all dirty with questionable traces on them. Furniture in room was damaged. Beds were badly made — like somebody has tried to make a joke and tied sheet half way. Lights and electric plugs were not working properly. Mattresses are comfortable. Windows are old Victorian windows and do not insulate well from street noise and Shepherd Bush road is traffic prone form early morning. Heating / air con system was not working. They are doing work in refurbishing albeit place was redone recently. Noise and dust as a consequence. But problem is maintenance. If management does not change drastically refurbishment will be good for a fortnight. Restaurant floor was very dirty, not vacuumed or washed in ages. Reception’s desk was messy and filth, so it was the counter at the bar. Because could have lot of potential to be a truly charming place. Authority though in UK should not allow places to go unchecked like this! I wonder how this place could displace on front door the sticker from Hammersmith Borough rating the pace as a 5 in hygiene. Complained but with no results whatsoever.
