Acceptable for short-stay: tidy, clean, good customer service.

This place is amazing! I'm only having a coffee here! But wish they were like this 30 years ago when I was traveling… The youngsters staying here must feel so comfortable and safe.

We felt this hostel to be the best for our stay. Rooms were cleaned everyday, a hearty breakfast for 6 pounds, excellent pastries and coffee. Location was great, the cafe portion with internet was a welcome calm after a busy day. The only drawback was that the laundry machines were not working properly if at all. The wonderful, friendly, helpful staff was the best part. I would highly recommend this place.

Convenient location. Good price/quality.

For the price and location as a hostel it is pretty nice — quiet, clean, comfy. It was a bit hot but once aired out it's back to normal. I forgot to bring my own towel so I had to pay £2 to rent one, I might as well buy one elsewhere.

Very affordable. Good room. Shared bathrooms could be bigger. Great deal for breakfast. Well located.

For its low price, the hostel offers a good experience. The location is great being close to some of the main colleges in Oxford, but at the same time close to the main attractions of the city. The rooms are very clean when compared to hostels which are similar price around in Europe and England. I would say that the only downside is the breakfast which is 6 pounds and first, doesn't offer a big variety of foods and secondly, the quality is quite poor as all the juices are very diluted and jams tasteless. Aside from that, the place is quiet and the ideal place for someone who's visiting the colleges or staying a few days in the city.

Excellent value. The rooms were tidy. Each bed has an individual light, power point and 2 X USB ports. The staff were friendly and accommodating.

Clean, though musty smelling. Unseasonably warm temps made the room quite warm. The self catering kitchen was very convenient. The purchased breakfast was plentiful and well prepared. Definitely recommend the breakfast if you're setting out for the day.

Situated in a nice location — not too far from the local park and rides, whilst being close enough to the city centre. Plenty of rooms to manage in peak periods. A lovely little garden with plenty of seating. Shame about backing onto the train station with regards to noise. Light sleepers might struggle with the trains, but it was never an issue for me. Friendly staff, and good food.

Lovely, clean and I was lucky to have very quiet roommates! Very close to city center and the train station is literally arround the corner, friendly staff. A good place for backpacks! (The reason I'm not giving it 5 stars is because you have to check-in at 2pm, and leave the room at 10am, so you don't have 24h, like you would have in some other places, and Wi-Fi only on ground floor, not in the rooms)

Booked a private room for 5 of us in bunkbeds and it was great, a good location being near to the train station and easy to find. Clean, tidy and had a plug with two USB charging options next to each bed. Would definitely go back again if I wanted to stay over in Oxford.

Decent and well located hostel.

Just behind the train station, about seven minutes walk away, clean and convenient hostel, there are coin-operated washing machines, the disadvantage is that the room does not have Wi-Fi.

Was good in itself, unfortunately there were some details that were somewhat inadequate, e. G. The too small showers or the problem with the airing.
Food was really good, vegetables were always almost perfect. Of course, the English food is not something for everyone.

A 10-minute walk from the centre of Oxford. The site is clean and comfortable, without the frills. The lovely staff. Very good breakfast and very good price.

The beds are comfortable but the hostel is noisy and it was impossible to sleep!
The toilets are a little run down.

Amazing place to stay. Good food, good facilities, awesome folks to stay with and brilliant Location, with plenty of restaurants nearby and all the tourist attractions and bus stops at a walking distance. I'd definitely recommend this one.

You have a private bathroom, but you have to reach the hallway. Key card system something strange, food great!

Great hostel. Polite/helpful staff, ideal location, very clean facilities. A pound more expensive than the dodgy looking place down the road but not regretting my choice — lots of things they usually charge you for (lockers, luggage storage) are free and the rooms are excellent with plenty of space and powerpoints on the beds :)

I decided, foolishly, to cycle down the Oxford canal from Nuneaton on a day off and was looking for cheap accommodation for a couple of nights to recover. Never having stopped in a hostel before, I had no idea what to expect (except maybe bunk beds and sweaty hikers). Apart from the bunk beds and this, very sweaty, cyclist the accommodation was indistinguishable from a decent hotel. I arrived looking like the creature from the black lagoon's slightly less pleasant cousin and was given a warm welcome by the lovely receptionist, there was a secure hut to store my bike and, most importantly, a lovely hot shower in my private bedroom to crawl into. As I've said, apart from the lack of a television and minibar, I could've been stopping in a city centre hotel. I can't recommend YHA enough, I'll certainly be stopping at another one the next time I have another stupid idea.

Good location. You can reach the city centre in a few minutes! The food is improving, there is little choice and is not very diverse. The beds are narrow and partly too short. The sanitary facilities are clean but a bit cramped. All in all a suitable youth hostel for excursions and city confirmation.

You get what you pay for. Simple rooms with all the basics. Staff are great and decent sized reception area with small cafe. Locked bike shed also available.

Very good experience. Staff is very friendly. Prices are excellent compere to local hotels. Great overall atmosphere.

What you expect from a hostel? Obviously clean and comfortable So yeah it is. Cozy and comfortable, good environment and friendly people.

It's a hostel, so it's not luxurious, but it's clean, comfortable and good value. The staff are very friendly and helpful. There's a bar and restaurant (with meals to satisfy hungry travellers), and good self-catering facilities. Note that there is no lift inside the building. The location is very close to the train station and bus stops, and a 5-10mins walk into the heart of the city. We'd very happily stay here again.

The location is very good you only have a very short walk to the Westgate center where you can shop very well. Also close by are all sights. The food is OK and the rooms too.

Nice hostel. Convenient location (near train station). Has a kitchen where you can prepare food and hot drinks. Very good value for money.

We stayed there for two nights and were rather satisfied. The staff were very pleasant and helpful; for breakfast you could choose from the English or continental version and it was really nice. I'll definitely go for the hostel when in Oxford again.

Staff are very helpful. The bar and lounge good. The rooms are ok. The best way to get close to the city centre is!

Good value for what it is. Friendly staff were helpful, we were able to leave our luggage while we explored the town and borrow a game to play in the evening. It's right near the station and the stop for Seacourt park and ride is nearby so very convenient for the town centre. The room was a little tired and could have been a bit fresher but overall ok, beds were fairly comfy. Breakfast is really good value and the shared areas seemed nice, a couple of lounge rooms and a large dining area. We enjoyed our stay.

Clean. Spacious. We stayed in a single room with en suite bathroom. Staff were very friendly. You can relax in the launge.

Excellent hostel with spacious rooms (for a hostel). Some facilities are available for a reasonable price, while some are free! Do try their breakfast, it's a great spread for the price.

The hostel is ideally located, next to the train station and close to the city center. The facilities are really good and staff is helpful. The lockers to store your valuables are a bit pricey and it can be a little noisy late night / early morning because of the trains.

The perfect place for a little rest. Clean, classy and equipped with everything we need. Like at home.

The YHA was clean and spacious. The staff were all really nice and helpful. The downstairs has a cafe which is a great spot to hang out and have a bite to eat or a drink. The hostel isn't that social, which worked for me this trip, but if you are traveling solo you might not make many friends here. It's easy walking to Oxford university and the city, next door to the train station (double windows mean you don't hear them though), and really yummy food nearby.

Big mistake to have not read all the reviews in details. A dorm-like hostel for backpackers definitely not for family. Room is hot in July with barely air flow not mentioning AC. Next to train station therefore noise is expected. Not necessarily cheap 159 pounds a night. The car parking is 1 mile away. The staff are nice though.

Called in for food at the end of a long day walking the Thames Path — lovely pizza and AMAZING tapas with calamari as you might get in the Med — really impressed!

Stayed there for once a week for 4 months and most of the time had good nights sleep. Almost always found the rooms clean and the staff were always helpful. Used there kitchen most of the time which is fairly equipped. The only downside is the adjacent station. If one is a light sleeper, he might have some trouble sleeping; specially in rooms on that side.

Made a booking for disabled but when I arrived the person who allocates rooms didn't even have me on a bottom bunk! Not alone ground floor? But the man sorted it for me but still had to go on first floor which was not easy but did have a nice room and bed so thank you to him pleSe make sure you read customer comments on booking or else what's the point on them being there?

Right next to the train station, easy to find (nothing more to leave the station, to the right). This is also a negative point because it is not at all well soundproofed and you hear passing trains at all hours, including at night. We stayed three people in a triple room without bathroom. Normal beds, dressers, and heating. It had a wardrobe, a mini desk, mirror and locker for use with a padlock of your own. Access to a private terrace small. Cleaning of the room, is acceptable. Not having bathroom in the room was somewhat uncomfortable, especially due to having to leave for the night. We looted right in front. Small bathroom: a toilet and a shower cabin, narrow and squat. Not coming water for taking a shower, just a hilillo, despite the fact that the temperature was adjustable and so nice. The showers are made almost impossible. The hostel has a kitchen, which we didn't use; a reading room, apparently not very large, a living room with a billiard table, and a dining room. The dining room is spacious and serves both for eating your own food as to taste the q have to offer you in the hostel. This open 24 hours a day. For almost 6£ per person included breakfast. It was English breakfast, with pastries, toast and cereal. Of the pastries, toast, cereal and drinks you could repeat. Eggs, bacon, sausage, etc. Only served once. The food was not very hot. Acceptable quality. The hostel has an hour of checkout very early, 10am.

The hostel was very good, the staff very friendly, the kitchen the living room and the dining room in perfect state, very clean and very complete. The rooms, the beds comfortable, the room clean. The only but, the shower, with a quantity of water derisory that complicates a lot the task.

Very good hostel! Very clean. Comfortable and cute. The attention of all the staff are very good and are very predisposed. 10 minutes walk to the center is a great option in Oxford.

It's been pretty good, a very nice place.

Good price for what you get. Breakfast could be better. Noise levels particularly loud, staff need to intervene when it gets out of hand.

It's a really lovely place to stay, but unfortunately had a downfall of there being no lift, which was a little bit of a pain as had a pushchair, luggage and a 19 month old toddler to get to the second floor of where my room was. However, a member of staff frim receptiin was always there to lend me a helping hand with my belongings up and down the stairs if and when needed.

The rooms are clean and comfortable. The big rooms have their own bathroom and a shower. There are restaurants and grocery stores in a walking distance. The beds are comfortable.

Alright coffee, good staff, nice relaxed atmosphere. Will return.

Room was filthy and the extractor fan in the bathroom wasn't working so the walls were permanently running with condensation, even with the windows open. The room smelt of damp, probably due to the amount of black mould on walls, ceiling and window frames. However, the bed linen was clean and the staff were friendly and amenable.

Very clean and pretty quiet. The location is great: around the corner from the railway and about a five minute walk to restaurants, museums, and shops.

I stayed here back in November 2013 and it was not the best hostel I stayed at and was a little disappointed that they didn't provide towels when booking a private room, I didn't pick the hostel for anything more than a place to sleep the night. The room was also quite cold and I ended up getting sick after staying here which wasn't helped by the temperature of the room. Also a little expensive compared to other hostels I've stayed at and next time I'll probably just opt for a cheap hotel room and have a nicer stay.

Amazing hostel! Sweetest people and the sweetest place I have ever been too! This place is the place to be, and its surrounded by tons of outlets and bars. The people are very helpful and have the world of patience.

Bad experience at this hotel, since the lady who was in charge of the reception seemed not to want to do their job, and not helped us at all, the same woman who ignored us when asked it for anything as the Wi-Fi or the billiards room the next day. In addition, the cleaning woman came while we were in the room and without any shame started to do its job. Fortunately, other hotel workers were commissioned to fix a problem with the shower since the first day I had to shower me with ice water, and treated us fairly better. Full breakfast, but is not included. As for the rooms, are pretty crappy, uncomfortable bunks, and tiny pillows, window would not close well, etc.
I give him a low score because that is their relationship for money, so if you, seek another alternative.

Very expensive for what it is. Ruinous and tiny, rooms with a bathroom with a shower very poor. The mattresses were thin and uncomfortable. The best, breakfast (without either being the panacea), and above all, a very nice Brazilian chef.
There are also nice people at the reception, however, the presence of Gladys, fogs all this a pasota woman, who ignored us or tried to help us in any moment and just worried about that I pagásemos our stay.
I don't know if there will be better options in Oxford, but certainly I will not YHA Oxford.
