Disappointed. The last couple of times I have been in there I have had to send my food back so I wont be going back again. The young lady serving us was very nice, however they forgot the sauces with our steaks, and by the time they made them, it was really cold. Plus 2 of the 3 things we originally wanted were out of stock, it can't be hard to buy a gammon steak and some prawns surely!

So disappointed in this Inn, it has so much potential but we didnt enjoy our stay. Lots of negatives and only a few positives. But the staff do their best which you can only admire.

We were the only people in the pub and our food was completely forgotten about. The food was limp, stale and clearly a few days old. Apple crumble? More like uncooked pastry and tasteless tinned apple from a can. The plus side was the welcoming and friendly staff, but that's not enough to bring us back.

Very poor, over 1 hour wait for our mains, severely under staffed. My grilled chicken was cremated, pork belly was over cooked and had turned to mush. Finally the sirloin steak had the texture of a wet insole. The waiter discounted our food but we will not be returning.

The staff were very friendly but the decor was very dated the floor wasn't very clean the meal we had wasn't very appetizing in appearance or taste.

Staff lovely, hotel needs a lot of TLC little niggles that were constantly annoying like out of order phone and TV in first room, swapped to a smaller room no glass shelf in bathroom and metal bracket that it should have been on kept falling off the wall, male guest was given our original room and spent over an hour on the phone after midnight and due to adjoining door we heard every word of his conversation! Food average. Beer less than average, waitresses were lovely!

Customer service was excellent at this small hotel! As international travelers we felt well taken care of. Unfortunately the hotel was understaffed and a little run down, but our room was still pleasant.

Charming Hotel in the center of Banbury, cozy room and very friendly employees. Good food and great variety of beers in the bar.

Don't eat here the food is terrible you can get better from a kebab van or McDonald's.

The rooms and interior were beautiful, accompanied by the friendly and helpful staff that served us. Breakfast had a god selection of cereals and had a fair variety of hot foods to choose from, though not that fancy. Bed was extremely comfy and windows are gorgeous, especially in the morning. However, serious water damage in the ceiling which concerned us but did not hinder our enjoyment of the night. Hotel only provided us with one toilet roll which I feel was insufficient and extra should be available in rooms.

Loved having breakfast when they were cleaning the floor with bleach. Breakfast, well what can be said, rubbery eggs, no butter advertised fresh fruit, which it was about a month ago. Plus side bed was comfortable.

Room was clean, shower did leak but didn't cause an issue. Good night's rest although could hear the traffic through the old Windows of the building. Would recommend for a few nights stay over. Breakfast was chaotic but cooked fresh.

Posh place and very beautiful. Would have stayed longer if I could afford. Lovely garden and very old creaky but cosy rooms. This hotel gives you everything. I forgot my shower gel so I used the small sized shower gels provided. Also breakfast is included in the price and it was a hell of a breakfast bar. I would definitely come again. Polite and helpful staff :) Mind you its not quiet it's busy at the pub downstairs esp around this time of year so dont expect to get an early night every night. Xd.

10 of us went to the Cromwell Lodge on Tuesday 12th December had a lovely evening and the food was very good and the staff looked after us. Keep it up Cromwell. I use The Cromwell a lot. Its a sham they cant keep a manager. Marry Christmas and thank you.

Our room needed decorating was in the same room 2 years ago needed decorating then. Mould in the shower. Whatley hotel is the best.

Terrible place. So sad, it's beautiful from the outside but the inside is quite literally falling apart. Wallpaper hanging off walls & ceilings. Rotten broken windows. Plastic pot behind the bathroom sink to collect water, half of it missed the pot and flooded the bathroom. Loose floorboards. On a good note the shower was hot & the bed comfy. Don't waste your time with the breakfast it looked as if it has been on a plate for a week! Very short on staff. All in all a very poor offering and most certainly not a 4 star property. I would not stay again nor would I recommend it to anyone.

It used to be fairly tired but now it's just tatty! Not worth the money. Definitely won't be visiting again.

Terrible rude service, bad food was ill after fish and chips! Go to this out of date hotel which stinks of damp if you like wasting your money. Avoid at all costs rip off.

Great Beef and Ale Pie and share plate. The beer is good, the food is tasty, big, and overall fair price. Would love to visit again.

Old, tatty and tired hotel. Small and modestly equipped room. Average breakfast and no-one serving behind the bar. Had to go to the pub over the road for a pint.

So far so good. Just got here but the room is fantastic and the food and beer is great. The staff is wonderful and the people that stroll through are friendly.

Very lovely room, great size and nice and clean. Nice staff but a bit short staffed, took a while to find someone to check us in. We had to check out early and they didn't have any staff for a while. Overall nice I would go back.

Stayed in a double room and a superior room, both very comfortable room and the staff are extremely friendly and helpful.

Last night I can honestly say I had the worst meal here that I have ever had at any restaurant, anywhere. The restaurant was full beyond it's capacity and far too hot. We were not shown to our table, we had to locate it ourselves. The table was crammed into a corner with board room style rather than dining chairs, this meant it was extremely difficult to get into the chairs and no hope of a toilet trip during the meal! Nobody came to take a drinks order, we had to go to the bar ourselves. Once we had bought several bottles of wine for the tables, we realised we had no glasses at all to drink from. One of our party went to the bar to ask for glasses and was told they had ran out and will bring some over shortly. No glasses arrived. It took 4 trips to the bar to collect enough glasses for our table and even then we had to share water glasses for the duration of the meal. A very rude waitress approached our table and simply shouted 'mushrooms' at us. This was the arrival of our starter and our first interaction with a waitress I unfolded my PAPER napkin and began eating. The starter was luke warm. The main course arrived and was even worse. The veg portions were small, sprouts overcooked, carrots raw and parsnips raw. The potatoes were very dry. The dessert was the best part of the meal but still a disappointment, tasted like Tesco value range ice cream with no decoration at all.

After leaving 2 pubs already one cause of the loudness of the music and this other cause they did not service food after 7.30pm. We stumbled across this pub. What a find great food great prices great beer great service. Would recommend this pub if you are in Banbury.

Dont bother eating there. Food is average. Service is poor. We were left on our own and I had to get up to get people to come to take our order and get the bill. Not going again.
