Rooms are really nice, didnt see staff much but were friendly when we did, breakfast was good.

Lovely welcome from Richard great breakfasts plenty to eat nice spacious room. Maybe difficult if you cant do stairs as there are no rooms downstairs. Very close to the lake 10 minute walk.

Excellent value. Room 1 had a very nice shower.

After arriving at the Wanslea Guest House, our comfort with the place was instant, and became even greater when our room was revealed by the host, who was very friendly and approachable throughout the stay. The room was themed in an Arabian/Ottoman style, and contained luxurious features such as a Jacuzzi and a reasonably large TV — some things unthinkable when considering the price paid per night. Despite rarely going to B&Bs, I could not give a sensed fault whatsoever of the place. I would highly recommend if going for a few nights in the Lake District and you want a economical yet comfortable place to rest after a walk over the fells or an evening meal out.

Excellent value for money given it's location. I was in the budget double and it was very nice, well provisioned clean and comfortable. The breakfast was excellent and the proprietor, Richard was exceptionally friendly and accommodating. I'd definitely go back here and recommend it if you want to visit Ambleside without breaking the bank.

The location is ideal, the accomodation is spotless and owners are very accommodating. The Walkers Breakfast sets you up properly for a day on the fells. Thanks Richard. Great shower and a well decorated room. The hosts were nice too and breakfast tasted great (though the continental options were a bit limited) — would throughly recommend you stay here if you are in the lake District?

What a truely delightful place to stay. Room was light, clean and warm. The bed was comfortable. The bathroom spotless. Breakfast was tasty and very filling. Will be back.

Clean room with interesting decor and a decent breakfast. More impersonal than some of the other B&Bs we've been to, which may appeal to some and disappoint others. One can walk to the town center though it's not that close (actually an asset from a noise standpoint). Be warned that, if you are driving, there are only four tight spots for their ten rooms, though there is free on-street parking a short walk away (though that too may be full on the busiest weekends).

My girlfriend and I stayed in early April and Richard was a most accommodating, friendly host. The room was clean and spacious enough and 5 mins walk from Lake Windermere. Breakfast was certainly ample for a hard day walking around the nearby mountains and lakes I would certainly recommend and return.

Lovely room (Rock and Roll) and the owner was very understanding. Good location for walking into town and my wife loved the bubble bath jets!
