Highly recommend staying here! Food in the pub is delicious and the accommodation was just perfect for the week! We stayed in the Saddleback cottage. Lovely welcome from the owners! Will definitely come back!

Good food nicely presented, friendly staff. Yummy mushroom starter, very tasty! Nice decor and a lovely fire. Our room is lovely too, contemporary decor and very clean. Bathroom is modern although a bit on the small side. A pleasant stay.

Fantastic weekend stay, from the moment we arrived until we left this morning our hosts made us feel special. Room was spotless and everything covid safe. From the breakfast to dinner at the evening the food was superb, freshly cooked and real quality. The wine and gin menu was very comprehensive as were the choices of whisky and beers. Thanks to Alan and Nicki for making our friends birthday so memorable. Will be booking again and recommending you to everyone. Thanks again, stay safe and enjoy your very well earned break.

We stayed here for two nights 4 adults 2 kids 1 dog, and from the moment we walked in it was like we were at home. The beer was good, food was good, in fact everyone of us enjoyed our stay even the dog, Thank you troutbeck for a break in this horrible year.

Had a beautiful steak and the burgers were fab too. We all enjoyed our meals and would return again. Lovely owners.

We were at the Troutbeck Inn for our early mother's day lunch this last Sunday. Staff greated us at the door, very friendly welcome, Woodburning stove on in the bar, cosy!
Time to browse the menu, fully informed of anything that wasn't available and of the Sunday special roast.

Everything. Food is fantastic, fish pie was amazing! Lovely staff, good selection of drinks. I would recommend the real ales, Pearl jet stout and the elderflower gin :) We stayed the night in little mel's cottage, couldn't fault it. Hope to be back again :) Thanks to the owners of running such a wonderful establishment. Making us feel at home and getting everything right from friendly staff to wholesome food.

First time visitors to the Troutbeck Inn can’t believe we’ve missed this little gem on our previous visits … better late than never is all I can say. That and please introduce Custard … apart from that the food was amazing and the staff really friendly. We will definitely visit again.

We ate here two nights running as we were camping just down the road. Really lovely food. Our eldest daughter wanted the curry on the second visit after trying mine the day before… was impressed that she nearly ate it all! Yummy sticky toffee pudding too! Highly recommended!

Just got back from a night at the Troutbeck Inn, what a lovely place. We have 2 big dogs so were struggling to find somewhere to stay but they were more than welcome here.
The staff were fantastic, so friendly and nothing was too much trouble. We had an evening meal and then breakfast the next morning and the food was amazing!
We would definitely come back again and recommend to our friends, thank you!

This is our third annual visit to this Inn. The food is absolutely delicious and the young lady who served us was very attentive and friendly. It’s great because they have two very decent sized rooms set aside for dog owners and they get packed very quickly. Highly recommended. We’re looking forward to our next visit.

A friendly inn with a decent restaurant and friendly staff. I stayed at the Troutbeck Inn for a long walking weekend and although there's not much in the immediate area, it's perfectly situated to reach many of the northern and central fells. The staff are happy to sort you a pack lunch for your walk. The breakfasts are included in the room price, of which there are a good number of options. The bar also has a good selection of local Lakeland ales. The highlight from the restaurant was the cheesecake! I'd happily use this inn again as a base for future walking trips to Cumbria.

Biggest complaint is they didn't have diet lemonade. This is a proper Inn with a bar and restaurant as well as rooms. We were there for drinks one afternoon and dinner another day. Reasonable range of good beers, some local. Food was very good — well cooked, hot, and fairly prompt given that it all seems to be freshly cooked to order. Decent outdoor space for drinks but the inside is comfortable and clean. Friendly staff.

10 of us and 2 dogs were made to feel very welcome great hospitality. We had a really good evening meal superb. We booked for breakfast on the day we left and that was superb too good value for money and great quality. Again all of us made to feel very welcome. Nothing too much trouble even when we turned up wet due to walking there in the rain. Well worth a visit.

Really enjoyed it here. Nice range of food and drink. We only had paninis but they added that little extra to make them special. Worth a visit on your travels but food available just lunch and teatime. Open all day for drinks. Xx.

Nice atmosphere, good food and a varied menu. We turned up without a booking but they found us a table and looked after us. Good experience and will return.

This place was great. Gorgeous food, lovely accommodating staff and I wish I lived close by so I could eat there every week!

We had our honeymoon at Troutbeck Inn and it was everything we could have wished for. Charming room, attentive hosts, great food, wonderful vibe — all in all a really great stay and I recommend Nikki and Alan's marvellous inn most highly. We will definitely be back next year.

Went for dinner last night while camping near by. Lovely friendly staff and food was lovely even child menu had plenty to choose from. Would defo recommend.

This used to be my favourite place to eat … a cut above normal pub food and something to look forward to as part of the holiday. Under the new management it has moved down market and is no different from most ordinary pubs. Such a shame.

Had lunch here earlier today… absolutely fabulous meal, all freshly prepared and proper tasty… really good value for money and friendly service. Can definitely recommend the cod finger sandwich… couldn't manage a pudding so that says it all!. Note to self : will have to go back to test the puds.

Walked to Troutbeck Inn from Gill Head Farm after a long drive from Yorkshire on 18th April 2018. We got there 15mins after meal cut off time & were allowed to order food. We were waiting a while & the waitress gave us a couple of bags of crisps as we were so hungry. The food was excellent. Staff really chatty & polite. The waitress even gave myself & friend a lift back to the farm at the end of the night. I would highly recommend this place for a meal. Very friendly staff & fab food.

Incredibly friendly and helpful new owners. We stayed in one of the lovely cottages. Everything was well kept and clean. Great price too. Can't go wrong.

Excellent Sunday lunch very enjoyable very full. Not a huge selection of beers but ok. Here again for Mothers day. Very busy needed to book a table. Menu posted looks good. Beer choice has improved top marks.

What an awesome establishment! During the recent weather issues we became stranded in our vehicle and the owners took us in at 1am, despite being closed! We are very humbled by their kindness and cannot recommend the establishment highly enough. Nothing was too much trouble, our rate included a great breakfast including vegetarian options and we were not rushed. Thank you so so much for your warm welcome and hospitality. We will be back… hopefully in less chaotic circumstances next time!

Sue and I popped in in October when Alan (I think it's Alan, is that a hamster in that box) and Nikki (I know it's Nikki) had just taken over and we loved the place. Food was great and Alan and Nikki were really welcoming. I've been back this week and nothing has changed, great place, great people and great food.

One of the nicest places we have visited. Staff were exceptionally helpful and friendly. The cottage we stayed in was clean and tidy and the facilities were great. Excellent Sunday dinner in the bar and the dog enjoyed the extra biscuit! Will be returning in the future.

Best Decision Ever — stopped in to 'grab a bite' on way past (had read some good reviews in Taste Cumbria I think). Super atmosphere inside, warm n welcoming… just what u want on a misty winter afternoon. Meal was great, very generous portions & the Yorkshire puddings left us speechless, literally. (I may have to get horizontal soon! ). Great hosts, lovely venue and a good meal — and it didn't even cost an arm and 3 legs. Even the dog got a biscuit! … she made me promise that we'll come back. And we will! As soon as I've burnt off those Yorkshire puddings ;)

Went and ate here in the evening whilst staying at the Louthwaite B&B. Had a lovely meal. Nice atmosphere and felt very welcome. Felt very cosy and would recommend. Will definitely go back.

Loved it rooms spacious and really clean. Meals were absolutely brilliant as a vegetarian I would like more choise but can't pick out anything else I would change!

We had a fantastic stay there. The rooms were great, really clean and comfortable. The food in the restaurant is top notch, fat better than I expected for the money. Book the restaurant ahead as it gets busy and it's clear to see why.

Staff have been attentive and provided excellent service. Restaurant has a good and interesting menu with good quality ingredients. Breakfast especially sets you up for the day and is fantastic. Black pudding is crispy on the outside and fluffy on the inside! Handily located near the A66 giving easy access to the Northern and Eastern Lakes. Keswick, Penrith and Glenridding are all about 15 minutes drive away.

Country pub/restaurant with a lovely quiet atmosphere (it was a Monday lunchtime). Four of us enjoyed excellent food; sirloin steaks and Thai chicken curry followed by delicious sticky toffee pudding. A good selection of Cumbrian ale was on offer too. Will definitely return on our next visit to the Lakes.

Went here on our honeymoon. The food was good, and the atmosphere was great. Worth a visit, though slightly more expensive than others in the area.

Excellent food well cooked and great flavours lovely log fire and room had nice ambience. Lady behind the bar not the friendliest and seemed a bit short. Overall an excellent meal in a great location.

Great food and a lovely atmosphere. The staff were extremely attentive and we had, to quote my partner, 'one of the nicest meals we've ever had in The Lakes'.

Have stayed at Troutbeck several times and have always found the cottages clean and comfortable (having stayed at all three cottages). In all the times we have visited we have not experienced any problems. However the experience would be enhanced if the on site pub was a little more reasonable on it's food prices. However Troutbeck is always our first choice when staying in the beautiful lake district.

We have just returned from a week long stay at Troutbeck inn cottage. The view cannot be faulted, Blencathra at it finnest. Unfortunatly the same cannot be said about the cottage. It is advertised as a 4 * cottage but I have stayed in many cottages and hotels both abroad and in the UK, this I am afraid was the worst yet. For a 4* cottage you at least expect a dishwasher, this cottage had no dishwasher, no washing machine and no tumble dryer, considering the Lake District is known for its unpredictable weather a washing machine and a tumble dryer are a must. Tha cottage itself was very basic and had a musty smell and the twin bedroom en-suite smelt of urine, the extractor fan never worked and as there was no window in the room there was no way to expel the smell. The wall behind the toilet had a very large area of mould up it. Carpets in a toilet of a rented out property should be cleaned regually, this was quite revolting and made worse because it was en-suite and when in bed at night the overwhelming smell of urine crept into the bedroom and was extreamly unpleasent. The location was great and the rooms in the pub on the web site look lovely and fresh, unfortunatly the cottage could do with the same treatment. I give this a 2* rating simply because of the views and location.
