The Boot Inn Hotel

Superb! Can't rate this place highly enough. From the freindly and helpful staff, the cleanliness of the rooms and the fabulous food, it was all fabulous.

Came for a meal, food choice was limited but very high quality. Possibly the best gammon steak I've ever had. Large range of drinks was good. Had to sit outside as no room left inside.

The Boot Inn is a friendly relaxing base from which to explore. The staff are attentive and friendly. The bar is welcoming and well stocked. Our bedroom was clean, a good size and very comfortable. The bathroom was very well laid out with a bath/shower. We stopped for two nights and had our breakfasts and evening meals there. They were all cooked to perfection. I do however have one downside to The Boot Inn. Meals are served in a conservatory. During our time the weather was very warm so the conservatory windows and doors were open. Flies were the problem. Yes to be expected at that time of the year and with the heat, but a real annoying pain when eating to have to continually wave your arm around. I've not looked into it but there must be something The Boot Inn could do to ease the problem. One of those kitchen blue lights maybe. This wouldn't stop me staying there again. The area is wonderful and beautiful. As I said at the start The Boot Inn is a great base from which to explore.

Love this pub. Especially when it's the beer festival. Food and drink are reasonably priced and the staff are lovely.

Pleasant garden, atmospheric pub good service and very good food. One of the best for quality and choice in Eskdale in our opinion. Home cured corned beef short rust pastry pie being just one of the choices when we were there. Thanks to all at the Boot Inn. Keep up the good work.

Simply excellent food. Well kept beers with choice of 2 or 3 on draught. Experienced managing couple who seem to genuinely love what they do and so provide a friendly welcoming service — what a pub should be.

Fabulous pub with great beer, people and food. The locals are nice too. Really good atmosphere, very friendly, just about every board game you can imagine and great beer. The minted lamb with mash is to die for, the pies are excellent and the chilli is also perfect. We ate there a lot and for good reason. Very short walk from the campsite, open fire which is very welcome on wet days in April. A really good place to spend an evening or three when staying at the campsite.

5 star Gluten free catering and dog friendly! Thanks for a very warm and comfortable stay, highly recommended! We will be coming back.

Have just stayed 4 nights at this great pub, had initially booked for 2 nights but felt so relaxed and welcomed by Laura and Sarah that l struggled to leave! l rarely do reviews but when a team of staff are so accommodating l feel it is only fair to let people know. Thoroughly recommend this lnn for its food and a very good night's sleep! They love dogs too! Cheers Mark. Woodstock Oxon.

Brilliant pub with friendly staff, excellent food and drink and a lovely warm fire to dry off at after walking on the nearby fells. There's even a stack of games you can play while you're there.

Amazing and wonderful people who could not do enough for us. Travelling from Ben Nevis and booked in for a meal for 8 of us, we realised that we would not be there in time, by 8 pm. We were in constant contact with them giving updates as to our progress. So, 8 was reduced to 2 and even then we were not within the kitchen hours. Our supper was kept for us and served with a beaming smile and anything else we wanted, pudding, cheeses etc… I cannot praise highly enough the unnecessary extras that the staff went to for us considering that they are not a big chain group. The room and bed and super soft, large towels were wonderful and so comfortable. I cannot rate this venue highly enough.

Lovely staff, great food and a comfortable bed. Fantastic views and amazing sights to be seen around Eskdale and Wasdale if you fancy a walk. Not much more you could ask for.

It's a dream of a place, like in the film in "the hobbit", small ancient beautiful houses, the tour with railway Ravenglass and Eskdale is great. Great restautants.

Unfortunately we were denied one of the many tables available outside because it was 5 minutes past 7pm. Luckily there was another pub just around the corner where we were amazingly served. We just wanted a coffee and a sticky toffee pudding to end our stay in the Lake District. We won't go back to this place for sure.

Good food — especially recommend the Falafels — friendly staff, and they make Wi-Fi and electricity available freely. Will be visiting again!

Others received table service but for some reason we did not. Apart from that, food was amazing, staff are really friendly and a great place to socialise with great views on a clear day!

Beautiful location. Very peaceful. The boot inn is a very charming Inn. The room was very nice with a big comfy bed. What more do you need? Anita and Stuart are the perfect hosts. Stuarts curries are top. We took our dog and he was made very welcome. We will definitely be be visiting this lovely place again.

Really nice friendly pub located in such a nice peaceful area. The food is really nice and not over priced and if you travel by the steam train you get a 10% off voucher in the booklet given at the main station in ravenglass. Would highly recommend trying the lamb and gravy hot sandwich.

This is my second visit to The Boot Inn and again… I wasn't disappointed! Fantastic home cooked food, so much so I just had to take a couple of portions of lemon meringue pie home with me, which was no trouble at all for the staff. There is a nice atmosphere and comfortable seating, the staff are all very friendly and helpful. I will definitely go again.

Absolutely fantastic food and service, the staff were very friendly. Easily coped with 16 people on one table at short notice before Christmas.

Fantastic Service, even when fully booked they found us a Table, Food was brilliant, staff very polite and welcoming.

First visit. I ordered the steak pieces in chili with cheese Nachos, and my gf went for the moussaka. The 'moussaka' bore very little resemblance to Moussaka. My meal was ok, in fact I quite enjoyed it but for what we got the meals were vastly overpriced. The second night of our stay we tried another restaurant very nearby. (Just down the road). I won't say the name as that would not be fair but wow, WHAT A DIFFERENCE! I I would recommend The Boot Inn however if you are just after a drink. The beer garden of lovely so have given an extra star for this reason.

Amazing improvement since the new landlord and lady moved in. Looking forward to going back in the summer.

Dreadful place. If I could have 'starred' this lower I would have. We arrived for a nice Sunday lunch and were received by a very stoney faced individual behind the bar with zero personality. There was no Sunday lunch. We were presented with an A4 piece of paper with an average menu — however the prices were very expensive. We paid £35 for — 2 half lemonades, 2 x prawn sandwiches, a bowl of chips, Children's Pizza and a Children's pasta. I'm more than happy to pay gourmet prices however the food was very very very poor. The pizza served was a standard frozen pizza and they'd put extra cheese on top. The pasta had no sauce. The prawn sandwiches were horrid, the bread was cheap and dry. I complained about the food quality to the waitress — all she said was 'I'm not the chef'. I did ask her to convey my message to the chef but he or she never came to discuss. They were obviously aware of the poor quality. Other diners were equally dismayed by both the greeting, the service and the dreadful food quality. This is disappointing given that its a Pennington establishment — I'll never go back. Service and food needs sorted. This isn't good enough in 2014.

Popped in after arriving in style on the Ravenglass and Eskdale miniture railway, very clean, tastefully decorated, good quality food and good service, reasonable priced too.
