We stayed at the Angel for 2 nights. Lovely room, very clean and comfortable. Great food and lovely atmosphere. Owners were both very helpful. Had a great stay. Recommended.

We had a great lunch here. My first time back in Alston for decades and despite covid this pub was warm welcoming, with a lovely pint and good food. Absolutely recommended. And the suet pudding was delicious.

Being a chef myself it was lovely to enjoy a wonderful beef Sunday lunch lovely well done.

We come to alston as a family once a year and we aren't big drinkers but whenever we can't find someone at the youth hostel this is the first place we come and 9 out of 10 times they are here. This is because it is such a nice pub, the staff are so nice, friendly and helpful and the fire pit is so nice after a cold walk in the snow, definitely recommend to anyone!

Lovely local Inn with plenty of charities to entertain you whilst your enjoying a good pint or bar meal. Would recommend…

Would recommend the angel Inn lovely food and staff.

Came for a visit with my Dad who used to come on his bike many years ago, so came for a bit of nostalgia. Food was decent. The beef and ale pie was mouth watering. However the fish n chips was just average, the batter being too hard. Mushy peas superb. Pub is dated but has charm. Bit wiffy out the back entrance as the bins were overflowing. All in all a canny place.

Dog friendly pub. Lovely staff, nothing was too much trouble for them. They even brought some chicken out for our two dogs and made us all feel welcome

Nice pub … but very diappointed with the food … starter was ok … but main was awful … the batter on the fish was very over cooked and there was not a lot of fish once I got in it : (

Cracking little Inn on the main street of Alston. Ken and his team make you feel welcome from the first moment you arrive. More importantly so do the locals. The Angel is a one bar 17th century Inn, traditional style with beams etc, painted black and white (almost mandatory for a pub of its age) serving great ales lagers wines etc and really tasty wholesome food, locally caught Trout etc. The rooms are small, but that's the norm with a building of this age, and a little tired but the atmosphere the locals and the superb breakfasts more than make up for the shortcomings of the rooms. I think that for the money it is extremely good value and massively enjoyable.

Cosy good value excellent food. Location of Royston Vasey but the "local people" are all very friendly.

Warm cosy place, friendly staff and a good Sunday roast at a reasonable price. Myself and my six siblings ordered Sunday roast, within 10 minutes all seven of us were served at our table with a good lunch. I'f you're needing a good roast dinner in front of a warm cosy open fire then this is the place to go!

Canny little tavern in Alston. Cheap enough and very cosy.

We just popped in mid — hike to use the loo and have a quick warmer upper. The fire was lush. The staff were lovely. We would have stayed longer if we weren't losing the light.

Just remembering our stay at the Angel Inn as a real highlight of our Pennine Way walk. It was so good we stayed an extra night while Storm Aileen went by. Every meal was absolutely delicious, the pub was packed with visitors and locals, the room was clean. However it was the warm welcome we received from Joyce that was the real standout. We arrived wet, muddy and tired, yet Joyce could not have been more welcoming and continued to look after us during the whole stay. Thanks so much to everyone who helps run such a fabulous pub.

Good quality food/bar snacks, nice friendly staff, nice vibe to place.

A little pub, good to have a sit-down after a walk around Alston. Staff is not particularly friendly and the drinkers around the bar neither.

Food is excellent value for money and the staff are always friendly and welcoming.
