The hosts are amazing here down to the smallest detail. Exceptional clean from top to bottom. The breakfast is slightly different every day with a strong focus on local fruit and low fat options. We never need lunch after eating the buffet style breakfast. The rooms are comfortable with silky soft sheets, bathrobes, fresh flowers, and cozy mattresses. The outdoor showers are a treat all in themselves (don't worry, you. An shower indoors too) and not to be missed. We have been here 3 times now and I can't recommend it enough. 5 stars!

This beautiful plantation is located close to all the ocean activities happening in Kono & is the perfect setting to get your rest, enjoy fabulous breakfasts & meet interesting folks from far & wide. I highly recommend it. The owners are lovely people.

Lisa and I made this the first stop on our anniversary trip. I would’ve been happy if it was our only stop. I didn’t want to leave. Michael, Greg and Hannah are beyond great, they made our visit extra special. Beyond that, the property and the views are amazing. This is a true Hawaiian B&B in every respect. We’re already looking forward to coming back. Hopefully my kids can get a break from their Graduate School schedule to join us.

The owner's and house manager are friendly and go out of their way to make your stay a wonderful! They offer fresh food, hot tub, sauna, great views and more! Such a lovely experience with the Ka'awa Loa Plantation including everything from the sweet room overlooking the valley and K Bay to the swing and outdoor shower and the amazing service, conversations with Michael and Hannah. What a treat!

Our stay at the Ka’awa Loa Plantation was heavenly. We had the ocean view Kealakekua Room and enjoyed our breakfast on the gorgeous lanai. Bed was super comfy and the food and coffee were superb. Mahalo!

Ka'awa Loa completely wrecks the definition of 5 star ratings. I don't know how they could be any better. We feel so very welcome and comfortable here… more so than anyplace I've ever been. Michael's breakfasts are fresh and delicious. We just got here and I'm already looking forward to my next visit!

There is no way to say enough good things about this B&B. Gorgeous views, relaxing setting, delicious food, amazing service. Every need was met with a smile. The outdoor shower was an added bonus along with the comfy bench on the porch.

This place is paradise! It's not just my favorite place to stay on Hawaii but my favorite place we've ever stayed anywhere! It is the most tranquil, peaceful spot imaginable. I would have been happy to sleep on the porch, with its spectacular view of the water, but then I would have missed out on the comfy bed in our lovely room. The hot tub is wonderful, the lava shower is wonderful, the breakfast is WONDERFUL… everything is wonderful! The feeling of warmth and hospitality that Michael, Greg and Hannah create is magical. I am dreaming of returning here as soon as possible!

A wonderful place to stay with fantastic views of Honaunau Bay, Mike prepares the best coffee and the best breakfast in Hawaii! The rooms are lovingly furnished and feel at home.

Macadamians are good. However this is a tourist trap. Gift centre overpriced and can buy identical products at most grocery stores, Wal-Mart or Costco for a better price.

Absolutely love the Ka'awa Loa Plantation. Greg and Michael are excellent hosts and are very accommodating. The breakfast (and afternoon goodies) are fantastic. Easy to feel right at home, highly recommended.

What a truly wonderful and magical place! My new bride and I showed up there for our honeymoon. Just a couple of nights, but being on that hillside overlooking Keawehāhea Bay and the peacefulness of the hillside with relatively no traffic in the area, made it for a very relaxing two days. Michael was a very gracious host, he made breakfast every morning, and always made sure that we had some type of pastry or sweet confection for us to enjoy in the afternoons. Regardless of the request, Michael always made sure that he met every expectation! The rooms are clean, well decorated, and the rooms on the ocean side have an unobstructed view of the coastline. It is the perfect setting for a relaxing day, or if you want to head down to Captain Cook's Shoreline, you can go snorkeling, or just enjoy the southern Kona Coast.

Hannah was an excellent host. She made gluten free waffles for my partner in the morning along with an excellent spread of fruits and from the plantation, breads, nuts and more. The room was comfy and the views from the balcony were spectacular. A really lovely place but Hannah really made it exemplary.

I simply can't imagine a better place to stay near Kona. Our ocean view room was clean, comfortable, and really did afford a wonderful view of the ocean. Michael's breakfasts were generous, delicious and accommodated special dietary concerns (gluten and canola oil-free) creatively and without hesitation. We absolutely will be back the next time we get the opportunity, and highly recommend Ka'awa Loa to all.

We spent a total of four nights here — — one in the garden room and three in the main suite. Based on the description, I was expecting the garden room to be small and cramped. It wasn't in the slightest. It was a large room with a adjoining toilet. If you do stay in the garden room, make sure you take full advantage of the outdoor showers — it's magical! For the next three nights, we were moved to the suite which was magnificent. A four-poster bed, separate dressing room, a huge bath and a separate enormous shower. This really was luxury and at a bargain price. What made the stay even better was the breakfast laid out by Michael each morning. There was an abundance of fruit — — all grown on the property, including the coffee. Michael would also prepare something hot each day: we had pineapple French toast; scrambled eggs; and fried eggs. Not only was the breakfast delicious but you could enjoy it on the beautiful Lanai overlooking Kealakekua Bay. We enjoyed every minute of our stay here and would definitely recommend to anyone visiting Big Island.

Best B&B we've ever been to for all the points others have mentioned. Breakfast becomes the main meal of the day. Provides a completely at home feeling compared to nights we spent at a hotel. Endless supply of coolers, chairs, towels and especially invaluable advice to get the most out of your time on the island. And the pricing is exactly as advertised, no games or extra charges that others warn about for other properties. Definitely an excellent value and a highlight of our trip.

The hosts are warm and accommodating, and the place is very well managed. The setting, overlooking the coastline, could not have been more beautiful. The design embodies Hawaiian elegance while remaining homey and comfortable. I chose Ka'awa Loa as the last stop on my tour around the Big Island, and it was the perfect choice. I was able to relax in The Mountain Room, which gets a wonderful breeze at night. The breakfast is top notch, the outdoor showers are a relaxing place to tidy up after a full day around Captain Cook and Kona. Truly, it is the complete package. There is no doubt that I'll go back.

We stayed at the Ka'awa Loa Plantation for the first five days of our honeymoon. Michael and Greg were wonderful hosts and were always ready to share their knowledge of the area and make recommendations for places to visit and restaurants to try. The view from the porch is spectacular, particularly at sunset. The breakfast was amazing and the coffee and most of the fruit was grown on site. Be sure to try the lava rock showers!

It was great. They had a very tasty breakfast and very warm and lovely staff. They have a home stead and a cottage you can stay in. The room are very clean and well set up. There was mangos on the ground that you could pick up and eat. There was a great mango swing as well.
