Review of DoubleTree 4*

Doubletree Greenway Plaza: Possibly the worst Doubletree I have stayed at. This one took that spot from the Doubletree in Portland OR. The customer service was OK. No complaints but nothing to praise either, but the room was terrible. If you have read other reviews about this hotel they no doubt mentioned that the rooms are very small and awkwardly designed but it's not like they can really do anything about that. Where they completely failed was in cleanliness of the rooms and appliance function. I was booked to stay at this hotel for 5 nights, moved to a different hotel after the first night. When I got to my room I discovered that the phone, clock, and television were broken, I guess I should congratulate them on the fact that no lights were burned out. When attempting to fix the TV and clock I found lots of trash and used plastic utensils behind almost every price of furniture. The bedding looked clean enough upon visual inspection but in hind sight I will be washing my clothes with bed bug killer just to be safe when I get home. I couldn't call and ask for these items to be fixed and cleaned since the phone didn't work so I just went to sleep. In the morning I was awoken at 8am by housekeeping who seemed to be trying to figure out how to get I to the room since I had flipped the privacy latch (like a chain on the door but not a chain for those of you who don't know what I'm talking about, it means they already had the door open a little but could not open all the way. Now being awake I took to the shower and found the straw that broke the camels back so to say. When I got into the shower I found a crusty, used, blood dotted, washcloth hanging over the bar. This is not an exaggeration, I took a picture. Horrified, I packed my bag and checked out. They were nice enough not to charge me for my cancellation of my remaining nights (though they didn't seem as shocked as I was about what I had found) I would call this hotel not simply unpleasant but physically unsafe. Do not stay here.
