We gave you in 2019 a $400 security deposit for a suite/condo from Jan. 1-Feb. 29, 2020. Due to a cockroach infestation in our room we were forced to move out on Jan. 31, 2020. We were promised a refund of our security deposit but after numerous calls, emails and visits we still as at April 17, 2020 have not had returned our money. We would appreciate your attention.

Reminds me of the old strip motels like from the 1950s. Very Cute. Great for us because we have dogs. Ground floor. Close to beach. Staff and guests all very friendly. Small family like atmosphere. Nice little pool area. Clean! We would stay here again.

My boyfriend and I loved our stay here. The best part about this location is definitely having beach access within minutes! You cannot beat the price for what this place has to offer. Coming back soon!

This hotel is very clean and it’s close to the beach and stores … the pool is the best with warm water and is open all day and night! Katrina the office attendant is the best.! She’s always there to help and has the best personality! 5 thumbs up!

Private. Comfortable. Beach accessable. I have been using this inn for 50 years. Still the only place I like to stay on the island.

I am so disappointed at the service we received I let my husband decide what hotel to stay and unfortunately this hotel made our night a horrific night. The beds where dirty “Sandy” the air condition didn’t work and the young staff that work there smoked weed and partied outside the room all night. We didn’t bother to let the service people know we where tired. The next day was check out at 11:00 and we checked out at that time they didn’t even ask how our stay was and I didn’t bother telling them since they didn’t seem to care. This is where it actually boils my blood the girls had the odasity to over charge my husband and I a fee of $25 dollars for clocking out late. I called and spoke with the manager she didn’t refund my money and didn’t care. I had never experienced such horrible service in any hotel. If the owner ever sees my Review I appreciate my $25 refunded back to my account. And it’s less that a 0 star for this hotel I should of checked the bad reviews it has.

Perfect location, steps from the beach. Pool was open 24 hours my nieces loved it! Rooms were very clean.

My biggest fear with online booking is that the actual property looks so much different than the posted and advertised pictures. This property is a prime example. Check In: We arrived at 3:00pm for check in. Nobody was at the property to check us in until 3:30pm and only after checking in (which includes signing a 3 page contract on how they will charge you for everything) we found out that we had to wait another 45 minutes because the room was not ready. Let me add, we were the only family checked in this evening. Room: After you park in your assigned alley parking, you enter through the rear door of the “boutique”. This freshly cleaned room smelled like someone left and forgot garlic bread in a refrigerator. I immediately learned that this is the cheapest and worst hotel I ever rented. There was no cable, no complimentary shampoo, and I think we got scabies from sleeping in their beds. Air Condition: It was 104 degrees on the day we checked into to our room with AC. Yep it has ac — a plug in fan on the corner of the room! There is not central air, no thermostat, just an oscillating fan. Swimming pool: To escape the heat, we headed to the pool and immediately saw the floor was covered in algae. Dark green algae. My son did a canon ball, to wit all the algae loosened up and floated all over the place. Overall: Spend more money and get a reputable franchise hotel.

This place was dirty. Our TV didn't work and neither did the air conditioner. The beds were horribly uncomfortable. I wouldn't let my daughter swim in the pool because it was green. Mildew on the shower curtain, not enough towels for our room. I would not recommend staying here. The only nice thing I can say is there was a broom in the room.

Former employee warning everyone that if they expect true hospitality and value out of their stay, avoid this motel at all costs. The main issue is that the business does not have a manager. It is run long distance from another state by the owner who is interested in nothing but cash flow. When I worked there rooms were not cleaned, office was often empty, and guests were more often than not, unhappy. I tried my best to bring some of the motel's issues, such as its highly overworked housekeeping staff, to the attention of the owner but she had none of it. Owner scheduled two inexperienced employees for 70 hour work weeks, treating them like slaves and not allowing them to go home until motel was clean. Lied and deceptively kept telling cleaning staff that she'd hire more help, but instead forced the workload on a single, inexperienced person most of the time. Motel has a very high employee turnover because, despite it being called a "hospitality team" it is a bumbling mess due to lack of keen management and oversight. I didn't even get into the misleading nature of the website. The negative reviews about the owner are not exaggerations. Spend your dollars elsewhere, if expecting a visit where hospitality is the business's focus.

The price was not good for the quality. The air conditioning was not working. There was a rather large cockroach I had to kill. It did however have a refrigerator and an electric stove. You do have to bring all of your own cooking/eating supplies because there is a $30 fee for using theirs. There is a single parking spot per room. There were 2 full sized beds in the room I was in. It is rather dated. There was an outside pool directly in front of the room so the children screaming and playing in the pool were heard very clearly. When checking in and out the staff was wonderful and helpful. However the parking in front was completely full and blocked by other customers so I had to park down the street and walk to the office. The Wi-Fi was free but so slow you weren't able to use it. It was pretty close to the beach but not directly on the beach which was what we wanted. There also was an outdoor fish cleaning station if you happened to catch fish and wanted to cook it.

Floor is very cheap could hear the downstairs neighbor have crazy anal sex with a hooker all night sounded like they well castrating a camel down there.

If only they had a 0 star but they don't but unfortunately we had a bad experience with this place we reserved our room ahead of time and they went ahead and gave it to someone else terrible experience so they expected for us to sleep on the floor but still pay the price don't bother staying in this place because they will kick you out.

Horrible! The pool is always filthy! They advertise a free movie on a projector every Friday night but only follow thru very sporadically. The rooms are spacious, but the bathrooms are ancient! Very uncomfortable beds. I give 1 because there's a kitchenette at least. The have typical "Motel" HVAC units instead of Central Air. This would be okay if the HVAC units weren't improperly mounted in the walls (seriously anyone can just push them out of the wall). Also, there's absolutely ZERO MAID SERVICE! The windows are literally a piece of glass about an inch and a half thick! Definitely incapable of keeping out the elements. Additionally, their pricing is ridiculous! For what you get… their prices border on insanity! Finally, the owners, who are a husband and wife that do NOT reside in the vicinity, seem to NEVER be there. They even have their phone number posted on the door to allow phone calls from each potential occupant. No mgmt on site. Roach/palmetto bug infested. Stay Away if you value your lack of lice, bedbugs and other critters.

We loved our stay! It was a quick overnight trip and South Beach Inn was perfect. Inexpensive, quiet, and a private parking spot. We walked to the beach and to a restaurant, both were only minutes away. On our walk we saw an amazing rainbow!

If you want puddles of brown water leaking from plumbing onto floors, & overpriced moldy rooms, this is the place for you. I stayed here many times thru the years til summer 2015, because it was reasonably priced, clean, had a kitchen, & less than a block from the beach. So even tho prices had VASTLY increased suddenly in 2 years (2015 high season: Queen w/ full kitchen @ $89; 2017 same room/time of year @ $139) I booked again. I was told that the prices had changed because the rooms had been completely remodeled & updated under new ownership. I didn't want to pay $139 so we settled on the King room (not full kitchen) for $119, & was told it was a "special deal. " We arrived with the plan to unload our things & get to beach asap. I immediately noticed the smell of mold when I walked in. I told mgmt & suggested that perhaps it was the filter on the wall AC unit. Although it wasn't dirty she washed it. We returned from the beach at 6pm & the odor was as strong as ever. The office was closed. I called the after hours emergency number but it forwarded to the answering machine. (Shouldn't emergency lines be answered at all times)? I ran into people on the property that had been painting the exterior that day, & to whom I'd told about the mold smell when we first checked in. They'd explained that the AC was dripping into the wall & was likely the cause. Upon looking closer, we could see that the vents themselves were black inside.

We love it! This is our 2nd year in a row staying here and we a already planning a 3rd.

I been coming to this hotel for a while now and I love it jenna and her husband are wonderful managers they try to make a everyone stay convertible.

My husband and I stayed for 5 days, Jenna who checked us in was very polite and most helpful. Rooms were what I expected, nothing fancy but served our needs. Definitely priced right and really close to the beach! Walking distance. Our TV didn't get a good signal but we weren't there to watch television we went to enjoy he beach. I recommend it if your not going in thinking your at a 5 star resort, this is a beach inn! Plain and simple, nothing more. You can also pay a small fee for kitchen utensils but we decided to bring our own from home. Cooked a lot of our meals there too in the kitchen.

Very nice motel with easy access to the beach area. It had no cooking equipment even though they had a working stove and microwave. Other than that it was a very nice place to spend the night.

The rooms are big with stove and sink. The manager is nice but a bit nosy. The area is small. Its very close to the beach. Over all I had a good stay for what I paid for.

The owner lives on site which is fine, if he didn't have a million cameras and stalk your every move! He opened his house door and there is a permanent screen on with all the cameras… it was a lot! — — I KNOW I locked my door but it wasn't when I got back. — — He 'upgraded' me to the room right next to his house because someone didn't want to go upstairs. PET FEE IS VARIED AND HE WILL CHARGE YOU WHAT EVER HE WANTS OR HE WILL EVICT YOU! That was a fun surprise… on the site it says pet fee is applicable but not implied that it was going to happen or the price. My dog did zero damage and did not disturb anyone but yet my room and everything for one night was over $200. IF YOU LEAVE 5MINS PAST THE CHECK OUT TIME HE WILL CHARGE YOU FOR ANOTHER DAY! He tried to blame it on the 'computer automatically' doing it. Their system was so out of date so there is no way. You have to physically leave the premises to check out because getting your stuff out of the room just wasnt enough.

WORST EXPERIENCE! STAY AWAY! Where to even begin… After making reservations for 2 adults & 2 children, I was told I still had to pay $10 additional for the kids… the owner is absolutely RUDE talks to you like your stupid, and has no respect for the customers! After asking him what was the point of making reservations for 4, if he was still going to charge for my kids was, and showing him on the paper where I reserved for 4, he repeated himself constantly saying "they only changed for 2 adults"… to top it off we got the "family room" which has a balcony, really nice BUT literally RIGHT NEXT TO HIS HOUSE WHERE YOU CAN hear his barking dogs, and he's literally constantly roaming around on what's supposed to be our balcony for the stay, leaving cigarettes buds every where in reach for children… no privacy WHAT'S SO EVER, no visitors were allowed for our bbqs, and has NO RESPECT FOR WOMEN making them feel uncomfortable, uneasy, & edgy! Even other customers that were there were super disappointed with the rooms please turn away! WORST EXPERIENCE OF MY LIFE! NEVER AGAIN! OVER CHARGES…

RUN AWAY FROM THIS HOTEL… Really, i'm serious. If you want to enjoy your stay at SPI in a clean and quiet hotel do not stay here. First I placed my reservation with Expedia and for some reason the reservation did not go thru. Instead of emailing me or calling me — I found out that my reservation did not go throu the day before my trip. I had to reserve a Junior Suite for $200 additional. Since this was the last hotel I bought it. Worse mistake… the Junior Suite was not bigger than a regulation 2 bed room. There was a futon but it just cramped the hotel. Ok, the first night I was woken up at 330 am in the morning by the manager asking me to move my car because I was parked in a different spot… there are no numbers on the parking spots but I guess I parked in someone elses spot. Then they dont even clean your room. Oh yes they offer towels and a garbage bag for your trash but do not clean or make your beds. No one wants to come back from the beach to a messy dirty room. In fact the 3 nights I stayed there not once did they clean my room. Then the room we were in was under the managers apartment — they were loud with they're footsteps… I felt like thumping the ceiling with the broom (i guess they expect you to sweep the floor yourself). Never again will I stay here… no clock, no phone, no toiletries, and no rug, dirty old bathroom… did not like it or feel safe at all.

This place is a dive and the owner/operator is a piece of garbage. We was very inappropriate towards my wife, I went in and resolved that. The next morning he was very inappropriate towords my daughter by the pool. We pulled up shop and left before something stupid happened between him and myself. A dive is a dive when it comes to the beach, but this guy is very inappropriate.

Definitely wasn't worth what we paid for it. Not to mention the manager was the rudest person I've ever met.

We have been staying at south beach inn for the past 5 yrs. Bill and stacy are great owners and john is an outstanding manager. The rooms are always nice and clean, housekeeping is always available for clean towels and other items you may need for your stay. Swimming pool and yard is always clean as well as the rear parking. Rates are very resonable compared to other over priced hotels on the island. We recommend south beach inn for your island stay. And you are only steps away from the beach mike and birdie.

After all the excellent reviews I saw on this site, I thought “this place must be great. ” Now I wonder how many of their “reviews” were bought and paid for. It may just be we had a very rare bad experience, but from the attitude of the management, it seems like this might be the norm. Below, I’ve got our story and an overall pros/cons list so you can make a good informed decision with your money and vacation time. Overall experience – cockroach infestation, broken/dirty bathroom, thin walls with loud neighbors, and management that says “There’s nothing I can do – this is really your fault. ” Upon arrival, we noticed a couple small bugs on the counter. We’re not unreasonable people, we understand it is Texas and it is humid – there will be a few critters. We’re not going to demand a new room because there was a bug. Our third night, however, returning around midnight, we found small cockroaches all over our table, sink, and bathroom, including a larger 2-inch cockroach above the showerhead. One even fell out from our bedside table drawer. I’m not an expert on the technical definition of “cockroach infestation, ” but this was enough to pack up and leave immediately. Upon notifying management we were told “Well, there’s nothing we can do, you really should have said something earlier. ” I understand they are a small business, but proceeding to blame the customer for unsanitary living conditions is, in my view, unacceptable.
