My ladyfriend has owned a deeded timeshare here and at one other non Bluegreen property in Historic Charleston for over 10 years. This was my first — and last — visit to the Lodge Alley Inn. Their "recently restored" (per manager) loft suite 111 was an under-furnished fluff job on what appeared to have been an apartment in its prior life, a 1960s GE range hood and a few other details pointed to this. One sleeper loveseat that pitched you onto the floor, a well-worn chair that appeared to have been picked up at a resale shop and four dining room chairs constituted the only places to sit apart from the two "thrones" in the hastily redone bathrooms. The sole bed in this "luxury" retreat was a very cheap double (not a queen, not a king), claimed to be "brand new" (again by the manager) by the manager yet was sacked out in the middle and a spring poked at my lower back all night. We were scheduled to stay through Friday but have returned home this Monday after spending one nearly sleepless night and being offered nothing better than the unit next door, a waste of time, fuel and money all round. In case you think I'm just doing a hatchet job on the Lodge Alley Inn, I am a short term rental house owner in a major tourist destination city and provide mid-level comfortable accommodations to many people every year. I suspect there will soon be a deed to a timeshare in Charleston up for grabs before long, since she is also convinced that an airport Motel 6 Suite would be more comfortable than this travesty. Save your points, go to Tahiti or use Airbnb if you want good accommodations in something more than a hotel while visiting Charleston.
