Visited Avalon for a wedding party and Hotel Metropole exceeded expectations. Beautiful views and experience!

The secret is out, one of most beautiful hotel's on the Island, a very friendly staff and I give it 5 stars all the way.

This place has everything arcade coffee shop aroma soap, the room was fabulous right in front of beach loved the setting my husband like it we had nice balcony.

We reserved the Beach House, then tried for weeks to schedule a block of rooms for a family event. The ladies I spoke to were friendly, but not very knowledgeable, and never followed through. I left numerous messages for the group sales person, and no one has ever called back nor emailed the proposal as promised. We finally cancelled the beach house and gave up.
Way to lose about $5k in business because of horrible customer service!

This hotel is just ok. I guess the biggest selling point is all the restaurants, shops, and arcade as part of the hotel plaza. We came for a family wedding. The Metropole did not put our wedding welcome bags in the rooms like other hotels did, so our group did not get any welcome bags that my cousin put together. Rooms were clean with iron and hair dryer, standard at most hotels. Continental breakfast included pastries, bagels, cold cereal, yogurt, fresh fruit, and hot water to make oatmeal. The view from our room was a wall of the next building, and in the outdoor hall we could smell stench from the alley and hear everything in the storage room. The front desk was helpful with simple requests.

Awesome upscale hotel with a very trendy menu. Very expensive establishment. Expect at least a $150.00 bill for a family dinner of four. Across street from beautiful Avalon beach. Beautiful weekend locale.

The rooms were nicely equipped and the staff was absolutely amazing. They have lots of stores and things to see and do. Eduardo, at the concierge was really welcoming and funny. This will not be our last visit. We will be returning this fall.

Nice rooms and a great location next to a courtyard with lots of stores and places to eat. The room comes with a good hair dryer and iron board. We stayed four nights and enjoyed the staff and daily fresh breakfast. Also loved the spa water they put out on the second floor. The stay was expensive but comfortable and quiet. They supplied a good shampoo, conditioner, small soap and a tiny box of other supplies with cotton that came in handy since I ran out of mine. Ha Very nice place and recommend for a special weekend. ❤️

Cute hotel located just off the strip, so things can be a bit busy and loud late into the evening and fairly early in the morning. Not too big of a problem. Nice balcony rooms with an ocean view for a relatively small upgrade fee. Completely worth it. Room is clean and service is thorough enough to not leave an ounce of sand anywhere, which is pretty amazing. Free light breakfast just outside the lobby in a breezeway, with minimal seating. Kind of awkward, but you can sit and eat in the courtyard one floor down if you like. Live music in the courtyard at night, which our room's balcony overlooked. It was nice to sit and have a few drinks above the crowd below, while listening to the generic tunes. Nobody yelled "freebird! " but I was tempted to! Overall this hotel provided a great first experience in Catalina.

The hotel is nice but pricey, and certainly not the luxury destination they conjure on their website. The rooms were comfortable and relaxing, but the quality of customer service is below par and the attention to detail was disappointing. We found the staff sullen, moody, off hand and disinterested. Believe me when I say we were polite and undemanding during our one night stay. We certainly would not return and spend well earned money where we felt unwanted.

Pros: nice room. I enjoyed the continental breakfast. Free loaner beach towels. Minor ding: housekeeping barged into my room after telling them not to… Sigh.

Asked for a chain on the door because it didn't have one, they said we would have to upgrade, pay more, so we just accepted this was the hotel's way. At around 8 pm the maids barely knock on the door (you can't hear the knock) then unlock the door and walk right in. One night they walked in on my husband who was jumping in the shower so he was naked. Not cool! I complained and they just explained they do that every night to offer towels. I didn't feel safe, and didn't feel respected. NEVER AGAIN will we stay at this hotel.

The hotel is re-modeled and clean. We had really fun there.

I really loved this hotel. The room was very pleasant, with an updated bathroom, and there was a great continental breakfast, The staff was friendly and helped with anything I needed, they went above and beyond to help with arrangements to have an amazing anniversary. — Anytime I called or needed their assistance they did their best to make my trip special. I really enjoyed the jacuzzi on the roof, and there is also free Wi-Fi. I have stayed at different hotels on the island and this is the Best experience I have had.

Love this place. This was our second stay. Rooms are clean, they have a lovely wine and cheese hour and it is very well located.

This place is on point very nice clean Hotel friendly staff excellent customer service I frequent Catalina quite a bit have stayed at several hotels most of a mediocre at best but this place probably going to be my new go-to hotel just going to have to try to stay ahead of the game cuz it's very hard to book rooms in Catalina got to get them in advance until next time see.

Loved, loved, loved this hotel. It was beautiful! The best linens, mattresses, pillows. The bathroom was wonderful, with super water pressure, that stayed the temperature you set it on. Lobby and staff was awesome, as well. The only thing I would suggest is perhaps even boiled eggs. Some of us need protein and not all those carbs. But it was very nice.

The hotel was nice and the front desk was helpful. The roof top hot tub is very tiny — so do not expect to to spend a lot of time in there. It has a very convenient location, the rooms are remodeled — all the bathrooms are not remodeled yet but they are trying to finish all of them…

Great stay in the heart of town. Close views and staff eager to please. Enjoyed our time and will make our return sooner than later.

We really enjoyed our stay. I don't have much beef about this place, good service, nice room, I think we paid a fair rate for the night, and ok continental bfast. Not bad!

Always a pleasure staying here! Staff are super sweet and very attentive. Anything we needed they were on it! Rooms were good size, decorations in room were nice, very clean, and didn't have that weird hotel smell. Actually smelled really good. Very relaxing. Plus location is perfect too! Definitely recommend Hotel Metropole!

Excellent. Couldnt have asked for a better place. We got a free upgrade to a room with a fireplace and a jacuzzi. Very nice. Breakfast is contenental style and has the standard fare. Only downside was the hot tub on the roof was closed for maintenance. It was ok though as we used the jacuzzi in the room instead. Awesome stay. Highly recommended.

Awesome stay, room's are 15 + in my book. Can't hear your neighbor in the room there was a wedding going on and didn't disturb us at all. Location is less than two minutes to beach pier. Fire place in room. No friege. Steve's steaks is a must prices are a high side, but the rib eye steak was to die for so awesome it tasted so good. I added no seasoning to it and the service was awesome. It's a must do when here at the island my family been going for over forty years and the new decor is awesome.

LOVED our room! Nice hard wood floors. Clean and bright. Felt spacious. Bed was very comfortable. Well designed /decorated. It's a family run hotel. I found the staff at the front desk to be very personable.

Beautiful room, partial ocean view, jacuzzi tub, and fireplace (though I didn't actually try to see if it worked). Excellent baggage service between my stay and the ferry rides to and from the island.

Beautiful hotel! The best hotel on Catalina island. My best friend got married there a few years ago and it was so magical. The staff is friendly and attentive, it was in the middle of town and lots of restaurants and activities within walking distance. If you are going to Catalina, do yourself a favor and stay here!

Adequate room, clean, updated … very loud supermarket loading dock adjacent to outside rear hallway and room access. Front rooms might be less noisy.

Probably the best hotel on the waterfront. Nice size rooms, helpful staff and a descent breakfast lay out.

Rooms nice, small hot tub has nice view. Beach across the street. Can hear concerts from the hot tub. They provided us a crib for our baby at no extra charge. Continental breakfast.

Would have been complete package if they had refrigerators in rooms! Otherwise really nice with convenience of arcade bowling and vons all down stairs! About to go eat complementary breakfast;)

Hotel Metropole is ideally located on Catalina Island. It is perfectly situated where you can view the water and walk to everything. The service staff were wonderful. There is a daily breakfast as well as evening happy hour consisting of wine and delicious appetizers.

A authentic disappointment. Reserve after seeing some photos and, certainly, the hotel retains areas that show what must be the past. The parts of the restaurants and the reception are luxurious and something ornate, as befits an establishment such as this and with over a century of history. But that said, today should not have a category of more than 3 stars. Because once you climb to the area of the rooms in the hotel need a reform urgently. And both for the hallways to the rooms themselves. The amenities are also sparse and of low level. The bathroom of our room had areas of mold, the mirror was broken on one corner and the marble sink was also broken. In regards to the breakfast, they have a lack of variety and abundance. To make matters worse, the quality is not nor much less to the height of a 5-star hotel. For example, the sausages are sliced, you can purchase bid already sliced in any super. There are hardly any pastries and do not remove the dishes used on the table until you leave. A pity, because it promised a lot. But it is a hotel very, very come to less, and with little staff. Yes, the hotel is very well located (near the centre and the commercial area) and release (with a Metro station at the door and several buses). And have the detail to give 6 drinks in the minibar (a few Coca-Colas, two beers and two bottles of water during the entire stay, a week in our case). The free Wi-Fi is somewhat slow.

Wow I can't say enough good things about this hotel. Wish I could give more than 5 stars! Family owned and operated, every staff member greeted us with a smile and asked how our stay was going. They found out my wife and I were on our honeymoon and upgraded our room. They also brought a bottle of champagne by our room on the first night with a note congratulating us. The hotel itself is clean and has a ton of vantage points to get a great view. This includes the hot tub on the roof that overlooks the harbour. Gosh I loved staying here!

Not what it used to be 6 yrs ago. Cane back for my anniversary. Room was dusty, they forgot my champagne, I got sick for two days of the 3 days from the dusty room. The boat was so filthy couldn't see out the windows. Poor service not worth the price. Room had broken parts. People smoked next to me on my patio horrible service when I complained. Small robes and slippers only.

Excellent location and superb staff. We were suppose to stay 2 nights and had to change rooms, however after we mentioned that we were in our honey moon we were upgraded free of charge to a suite with ocean view. The room had floor heating, a jacuzzi and a shower, fireplace and a beautiful and very tasteful design throughout, and lastly 2 bottles of champagne were delivered to our room for each night, although we don't consume alcohol :-). Will stay again, thank you for making our staying unforgettable!

My second stay here. Great rooms, location, and ameneties. Service was also good but not as high as a 5 star resort, but that's just the island. I still enjoyed my stay and would come back.

What a great hotel wonderful stay in Catalina. We have a 2.5 year old & 7 month old, the hotel was so helpful and accommodating. They sent a crib for my daughter — it was a nice very sturdy wooden crib. The wheels were nearly silent, she actually slept & seemed comfortable! We upgraded to a view of the water, what a perfect way for everyone to wind down after dinner. The room was large and beautiful. The fireplace was awesome & the jacuzzi tub made bath time super fun! Best hotel experience we've had with the kids so far.

I stayed here about 3 months ago and had an amazing time. The rooms are top notch and our balcony was looking out over the harbor of Catalina Island. This place was highly recommend by a few friends and it did not disappoint! We will for sure be back to book our trip at this hotel again.

This was my first time to Catalina EVER. Me and my friends had such a great time. The hotel was centrally located and right on the main strip. The hotel itself was like a little village of its own with cute shops and eateries. Everything seemed easily accessible. VONS is right around the corner if you want to stock up on waters or etc. The rooms were very roomy and remodeled. The bed sheets are noticeably soft. They offer a nice continental breakfast, which is always a plus. This won't be the last time I stay here.

Hotel Metropole is a very nice, cozy hotel across the street from the beach in Avalon. Friendly staff, nicely appointed room, comfortable bed. We definitely recommend it and will stay here again.

The Robuchon restaurant in Metropoloe is just fantastic. Highly recommended.
