Close to everything. Then again, everything is… lmao. So, hotel is great. Jacuzzi tub is amazing. No elevator, so stairs is a must. The rooms are plentiful, clean and very quiet.
The breakfast was good, please tip… A special thanks to the hundreds if not thousands of people who used the bed before we did. Y'alls molded the heck out of it. Our bed was like clouds… best sleep I've had in months. Then again, it could have been my herb?! Nevertheless, I highly recommend this place.

Third time is a charm I like how centered this place is right in front of the water feature fountain so it's easy to find. They were able to get me in a nice room on the first floor only five steps up and breakfast is great.

My husband and I came here on honeymoon, our plan was to only stay for two nights. Upon arrival we immediately knew it would be longer. We ended up staying for five nights. The hotel staff was beyond amazing! we wanted to give a special Thank you to Veronica, who went way above to accommodate guests, including finding a guitar for my husband to use during our stay. The Continental breakfast was very well display and the host was extremely pleasant and informative. It was quaint and the prices were right and was in line with exactly what we were looking for during our stay. We definitely will be back.

I always stay here, never stayed any where else at Catalina, and we are staying there again very soon! Everyone is super nice, welcoming, makes me want to come back! Rooms are amazing, comfortable and cozy, makes me forget that I came to Catalina for the island, or for the room and showers! hahah! ❤

Great place to stay. Reasonable pricing. They did not have elevator, and the stairway was a bit complicated because the hotel has been there for centuries. It was still an amazing stay and I would definitely go back!

The best thing that I liked about the hotel was how friendly people were there. Like you want to take a fruit from breakfast to your room, "Of course! Not a problem". Or you want to watch the World cup on their bigger TV, "Sure, others can also enjoy it". Overall the hotel is old as much as I understood. I wouldn't say it's super clean but it was normal enough (clean towels, clean bedsheet etc) to feel comfortable.

Loved it here! Awesome location. I brought my bike over for 2 days and they stored it for me overnight. They came to the pier to get my bag from me and I just rode my bike. Everything is close there on the island. Front desk people all very nice. Would definitely recommend.

Nice old fashioned Avalon Hotel. Less than block to the beach & great pizza next door! Staff is helpful & friendly. If stairs are an issue or carrying bags up them, be sure to ask for ground floor. They do pick you up & take you back to the Catalina Express/Flyer boat dock!

Very quaint little hotel in the heart of Avalon. The rooms are small but they are cozy! The building is a little old, and it feels old, but it doesn't spare amenities. The continental breakfast was hosted by the friendly couple that own the place. Awesome vives.

I have never written a review for anything before, but had to write one here. I will only stay at the Glenmore Plaza on future visits to Catalina Island. The room had a great view. Very clean. Comfortable bed. Owners and staff were friendly and helpful. The location is ideal: close to boat dock, restaurants, shopping. We have stayed at other hotels in Avalon, and this was by far the best experience all around.

We need to give this place 4.5 stars! They have recently updated the entire hotel and it is very accommodating. The lobby and lounge next door for continental breakfast needs attention, but overall this was an excellent stay! Staff was friendly and informative. This hotel has some history, it was built in 1891 and has survived a lot. There is character and nostalgia throughout. It is excellently located at the center of town and perfectly placed for easy access to all the restaurants, activities, tours, and tourist fare. We would definitely return and maybe consider a fourth floor room on our next visit.

This place is fabulous! They have a shuttle service to and from. Lovely view, wonderful large showers with three shower heads. The staff is friendly and knowledge about where to eat and visit. They allowed us to keep our luggage in a storage room until it was time to go, after our check out time! They are located close to great food and the beach, we walked everywhere. WE WILL BE BACK! 2018, we came back, and they have really improved! They have moved the breakfast to the social room, used for guest gatherings or parties. It is very professional and spacious with tables to sit at. We had room 317, with a patio, so we ate there. But if we had another room we would have eaten there. These folks know what hospitality is! I felt sad to go. But, WE WILL BE BACK! This is home away from home. In fact we got home and immediately wanted to go back!

Enjoyed our stay in Avalon at the Glenmore Hotel. The entire staff made us feel like family. Personally acknowledged us coming and going. Picked us up at the dock and drove us to the hotel, also drove us up the hill to a restaurant. Nicely presented buffet breakfast next to hotel. No elevator, and my husband has a back injury, so we were given a room with 4 or 5 steps up. The room was spacious, marble bathroom. Walking distance to waterfront, Blue Water Grill, shopping, museum, movie theater, zip line etc. Love the staff. Definitely recommend The Glenmore.

Edited review: originally a 2 star We booked a "deluxe king" room. VERY small and on par with a room from motel 6. This was apparently a "remodeled" room so I would hate to see anything less than what we booked. Our "closet" is a shelving unit with a zipper cover over it, the view from the room is a rooftop. Spoke with the front desk who told me this is typical of Catalina island. Called Expedia who were unable to do anything. Do yourself a favor and either spring for a prem…ier suite or steer clear of this hotel. Update, the hotel owner did listen to our concerns and we were given a beautiful room to stay in. Thank you very much for your customer service.

I would love to like this hotel as its around downtown and staff are nice. However, we stayed there for 2nights and the first night we didn't have hot water. The room keys are marked with room number and hotel name on it… Which in our opinion, if the key gets lost and someone finds it, they can easily break into your room.

The hotel is ok. Most others are nicer, but this place usually has availability when others don't. Friendly staff and off course your on an island!

Such a beautiful hotel! Great service & right on the strip! We stayed in the Marilyn Monroe room on the top floor ❤ the only hard part was getting the drunk bday girl up all those stairs! Lol.

We really enjoyed our stay last June. Would absolutely go back. Beds were comfy, bathroom really nice. Good breakfast. We arrived and our room wasn't ready and they were so awesome that they upgraded us and put us in another room right away. They even let us keep our luggage there after check out before our fary launched so we didn't drag it all over the island. It was the best trip I ever had.

Good service. We got the deluxe king bed room, which was nice. Don't get the cheap queen bed room, which doesn't even have a heater and it can get cold in the winter.

Clean comfortable room at a reasonable rate. The staff was very accommodating as well.

The hotel was built in 1891 — neither charm or care is evident. The entire hotel slopes, which makes the stairs (no elevator) an issue when carrying luggage. The room was roughed together — repairs where lacking. The bathroom tub seemed that it would fall through tge floor. Could not chnage the card use to reserve the hotel. There are better options, just as old but better kept. Tge only plus was the central location.

We loved this place! The owners and staff (especially Karen) are fantastic. The room was clean, and super comfy. You are right off of Main Street and close to everything. One of my favorite things is that you get an actual key, not a card. We’ll stay there again!

Our room was spectular with the balcony overlooking Sumner! We were able to have breakfast out there ♡ And, the enormous 3 headed shower was a special treat! We were treated like "royalty"♡ Loved it!

The staff went way beyond their responsibilities to make our stay perfect! The couple that does breakfast are so comical and welcoming, very great start to the day! This hotel is very recommendable!

Staff was nice. Breakfast was simple but nice. Rooms not so great. Major paint peeling, light fixture hanging down, major stains on sheets. That was nasty. Took quite a while for hot water to come in to take a shower.

Awesome location. Hotel is stuck in the past. Some might like its charm. Id rather see more luxury.

I would highly recommend this place we really enjoyed it. The service was awesome. The only thing that they could improve is the continental breakfast maybe offer some yogurt or boiled eggs.

Hotel in full renovation Spartan room very dark and view on the opposite wall and its bazaar. The manager made a gesture by overclassing us in another room. Careful no elevator.

Had a great stay at the Glenmore. There are many cool suites available here. Unfortunately I was abruptly awoken at 7am by employees in a truck right outside our window in the alley doing God knows what that loud for over an hour with no consideration for sleeping guests. Had a 6 hour flight a few hours later and would have enjoyed the extra 2 hours of sleep before check out.

We LOVE coming here! This is only our second visit to the Glennmore Plaza, this time we were able to stay in. Staff is very quick on bringing up new towels, they also answered our many questions. Checking in and booking a room is amazingly simple! During the time of our stay they were under construction doing some remodeling in a few of the top level rooms. It was not that big a deal, since they only worked during the daytime and stopped in the after noon. It didn't bother us in the least some as we were able to go to our room to take a nap even while they were working. You might want to do leg stretches before using the stairs. My daughter and I went up and down the stairs from 4 floors many times. My daughter loves the waterfall showers and the large tubs with the jets! AMAZING! Ooh and their breakfast in the lobby is good, bagels, mini muffins, fruit, and other pastries, jam, orange juice, coffee and tea and milk… We just loved our stay so much, we will always plan to come back and stay here!

A great hotel with lots of quirkiness that just adds to the island ambiance. Great staff, great room with a ginormous spa tub in the bathroom. Continental breakfast is a little light but all and all a great place to stay.

It was an enjoyable place to stay. The room was lovely. The view was great. Although it was a bit noisy. They were doing renovations on the room above us during the day. Also you do get a lot of Street noise from the golf karts. I would stay again.
