The Hershey Farm Inn and Restaurant provided some unique experiences as well as some strange events. There are some pros and cons about staying at this inn. PROS: *The inn sits on a 23-acre campus with gift shops, flower shops, restaurants and wooded areas. * Enjoy dining at the Hershey Farm Restaurant with some country-cooking for breakfast, lunch and dinner. This is open to the public and reservations are recommended during busy times. The full smorgasbord offers a wide selection of food; hot, cold, pastries, fruits and items grilled to order. The complimentary breakfast for staying at the inn was excellent. A wide selection of breakfast foods were offered including a variety of meats, pastries, pancakes/waffles, fruits, cereals (Hot & Cold) and even ice cream and whoopee pies. For lunch and dinner, you can order particular food items or choose the smorgasbord. There is also a Subway Restaurant on site across the parking lot. *Location to Sight & Sound Theater. Park and walk the trail to avoid the traffic congestion. This hotel offers discount rates to Sight and Sound Theater when you book a room. *Outdoor swimming pools for adults and kids. The Kiddie Pool ranged from 9 inches to 15 inches in depth. The other pool reached a maximum depth of 5 ft. 6 in. Guest towels are provided at the pool with a restroom near the pool and one behind the pool. *The petting zoo consisted of 4 goats near the restaurant, carriage house and farm house. There was a rooster in the woods, somewhere. *They offered a nice pond for fishing; surrounded by geese and swans. *There were 2 small playground areas for children to play on. *The front desk staff were very friendly and accommodating for a larger group with reservations. They were attentive to the group and possible upcoming needs. *The outside of the buildings and property appear to be well-maintained. CONS: *One of our rooms was very dirty including a partial bar of soap from previous guests left in the tub, dirty black marks and hair left in the tub, toilet and sink counter. *RUDEST Housekeeping/Cleaning Lady. At 9:30, she walked down the porch and into ALL 5 of our rooms to start cleaning. Checkout time is 11:00. She stood at the door near the porch to wait for people to finish in the restrooms. When she walked in on me, I was told to have a safe trip home. Apparently, that meant to checkout 1.5 hours early. When I told her that checkout was at 11:00, she completely ignored the comment and went about her business. The room do-not-disturb signs were underneath the wooden porch deck. She denied us re-entry into our rooms to wash up from the goats and playground. This lady was also smoking in non-smoking rooms as she was cleaning. This is the rudest service I have ever experienced at a hotel. This was reported several times to the front desk. The front desk clerk reported this to management. The front desk clerk apologized for the rudeness of this lady and said it will be taken care of but this was not addressed with us during the remainder of our stay as entry was denied back into our rooms. Thankfully, we had taken stuff to the car but were enjoying other amenities prior to leaving the hotel. BOTTOM LINE: Hershey Farm Inn provides a unique experience with walking trails, pools, pond and a few goats. It is nice for families with small children since they can run around. Unfortunately, the housekeeper left a bad impression of Hershey Farm Inn and I will strongly consider other options for lodging during future visits to this area. Not worth the price for poor service.
