Review of Econo Lodge Jefferson Hills Hwy 51 2*

It appeared clean and smelled like gardenias when we walked in but I must admit, I felt super uncomfortable and almost drove the 2 plus hours home with my daughter. This was not exactly how it appeared in pictures. We were last minute bookers for a hotel because of a dance competition so this was the only hotel within 25 minutes. I called a day before hand to make sure we were good to go with the reservations and the woman who answered the phone spoke English but when I asked if everything was ok she never did really say yes. I was confused but at least she found my name. We checked in and left for dinner and shopping. We booked a non smoking room. We were given room 101 there were people smoking outside right next to us and directly above us. We got into our room and discovered the door doesn't really have the security we deserve. My 13 year old daughter was exhausted and went to shower. She came right back out nearly gagging saying someone waw smoking in our bathroom. I didn't image how bad it was until I walked in myself. It scared me honestly because it was seriously like someone was JUST in our room. The lack of sound proofing was unbelievable. I did not sleep a wink. I could hear the people above us walking around so clearly that it sounded as if someone was opening back door to our room and would walk right in. It smelled like smoke so badly that my throat hurt by the morning. I woke up my daughter early so that we could get out ASAP. When we walked into the main office to check out there were elderly women who were arguing with the manager about being over charged. He seemed to not even care. Then a man walked in, without shoes, and demanded his "card" (whatever it was), was arguing about what HE has paid, and demands 4 quarters. The manager starts to argue back about the amounts he has paid and gets restless so he just hands the guy a "card" and 4 quarters. When I checked out, he took my room cards, didn't ask how my stay was… actually said nothing, handed me my invoice and we left. I felt disgusting all day. I will drive the 2 plus hour drive home and back before I ever stay here again.
