My husband and I travel very often and this may be the worst hotel management we have ever experienced thus far. This hotel stole our money by MORE than double charging my credit card for over $700. After calling an extraordinary amount of times, they bounced us back and forth for weeks between the hotel and the restaurant. Both claimed that it is the other entities problem. They provided us with 2 receipts that have identical charges, both unsigned. No one is willing to help or claim responsibility. The management at this hotel has no respect for their patrons. No calls back, ever. We had to track them down and most times they wouldn’t take our call. We had to resort to disputing with our credit card. We would not be surprised if they attempted to validate their charges to dispute my claim. Disgusted is an understatement. Specifically with the Manager Tom and Lyle who refused to do anything to help resolve the issue.

Great quaint place wonderful grounds and atmosphere and very clean!

In a beautiful outdoor setting, you can enjoy a delicious menu and excellent service!

Nice resort clean friendly service great food pool and bar reasonable prices stayed here several times its always a nice getaway.

Have stayed here a million times. Seems like home away from home at this point and the staff is like family. The staff in general are always super helpful in terms of ensuring the grounds are setup to be taken advantage of — e. G. Firewood ready for late night s'mores, giant games on the lawns, heated pool, etc. They also throw a great Halloween party!

Great family friendly place, we’ll be back again next year!

What a great place to stay when your out here in Montauk the rooms at so nice bathroom is spacious an very very clean the grounds are so awesome an a great out door pool will be back love ❤️

Perfect! Away from the crowds yet just a short distance away. Grounds are lovely. Rooms are well appointed. Pool is cool. Checked in and stayed for a cocktail and a bite at the restaurant. Highly recommend.

Somewhat loud on the weekends during the season. Well manicured grounds with a helpful staff.

Great hotel. Fantastic pool and lounge area. Rooms a bit small but clean and all you need out here. Great staff very helpful. Access to parking at ditch plains an added bonus.

It’s a nice spot really cool with good live music. Only negative is 1 bathroom and hard to get drinks when crowded.

I visited the resort on Sunday August 5th, for the Sunday BBQ with Michael Symon. I was greeted by very friendly staff.
The food he made was AMAZING despite the fact that it was not what was listed when I ordered tickets for the event. An almost totally different menu. I was disappointed, but despite that, what Chef Symon put together was incredible. It was a great experience. He’s a gracious person also. And the price was so reasonable.
The public bathrooms at the resort were not great. At no time in the 3 hours we were there for the BBQ, were the toilets stocked with ANY toilet paper. Not good when you have over a hundred people present at an outdoor event at your resort.

The gem of Montauk, hidden away from the busy main drag. While we were there, the well known chef Michael
Symon was cooking a bar b cue for 100 people, while the folks from Lululemon were giving yoga classes on the lawn. Awesome.

Resort was nice but the rooms were VERY small for the price. Very nice out door area including Adirondack chairs, and lounge chairs everywhere.

Had a garden view room. It was nice but I wouldn't say it was $50-extra-nice. Beds were comfy and clean and the housekeepers were really nice. It was close to restaurants and bars too.

How about putting curtains on all windows in the room?

One of the best resorts in Montauk! The Backyard Restaurant is awesome and had great food and accommodates all group sizes and weddings!

Great service… good food and pretty nice rooms. It's an older hotel and we stayed before memorial day. So be prepared for roll in space heaters if it's cold. Other than that it was awesome… really cool backyard style outdoor area with firepits… hammock's and swings, heated pool etc.

Looking back, I can't imagine having our wedding anywhere else. The
backyard/grounds are the perfect setting for a laid back, Montauk wedding. The fire pit and lighting backyard there are just dreamy. We had 220ish people at our wedding and the tent and dancefloor still felt
spacious. Our band was rocking all night long and after we shut the tent…
down, we could still blast music inside/around the bar so the noise
ordnance was not a hinderance at all. Our guests are still raving about the food (although admittedly I barely
ate that night, but our tasting was great! ). We knew before we picked Sole
that we wanted to serve family style and I still think that's a great
idea. Cindi and Sue made sure everything ran smoothly all weekend long, even
with the rain! Which thankfully cleared about an hour before the ceremony.
They were calm, cool, collected the whole day which made us and our guests feel the same. The planning process definitely moves at "montauk speed" so be prepared
for slower responses from your vendors out there. Overall we couldn't be happier and are already planning a (much smaller)
reunion next year to try to recreate the magic again!

During off-season, the resort doesn't get very busy, which is nice when you want to relax by the pool on a beautiful September afternoon. The Backyard restaurant doesn't stay open 24/7 (I arrived at 3pm, and it didn't open until 5pm for dinner), so there is no room service, but the town center is within a 20-minute walking distance. The rooms are very nice, with bathrobes and hairdryers provided.

Sole East is was a great pick for our overnight stay. It is close to the beach and town. Not far from Gruneys. The room was on the smaller side but clean. A cool beach feel but trendy. Employees were nice.

This was our third year coming here, each year we bring another couple with us… we are up to 8 of us now and EVERYONE loves it! Soooo looking forward to next year! Wonderful staff, beautiful place, great food & I must recommend the "backyard punch"!
This is hands down one of my favorite vacation spots and I HIGHLY recommend ot to anyone thinking of staying in Montauk!

Called at 7:30 was quoted a price for 299, the called back at 9:15 was then told 399. I was desperate because rooms were not available. Arrived at 11:00. Checked in to a loud crowded bar scene. Figured I would speak to a manager in the morning. They ran ny card and couldn't even give me a receipt said I can get one in the morning. Ok tired just wanted to get to bed. Got to my room (window right by the band out side) Needless to say didn't sleep much. Blood stains on the sheets… can this get any worse. Yes. Spoke to a manager and they said no I wasn't quoted 299. And they can't do anything for me. Ok. If I come back they will give me a discounted room. I guess they are ok with poor service. Overpriced. Window unit air conditioners. Loud. Blood stained sheets. No customer service. Manager doesn't care. Would never stay here again or recommend people to ever go here. I am in the hospitality business. I opened up a hotel. Customer service is everything. High standards are everything. Shame on you Sole East.

Great Brunch and kool vibe! Great place to chilax and have brunch while listening to the kool music! Love this place!

This is a review of the restaurant, very good food and atmosphere. Felt it was a little ridiculous that we had to go to the bar for a soda. Could not order a coffee with desert and our desert took 45 minutes to come to the table. Also can't substitute anything on the menu, it is served as it is described. Staff also seemed stressed and were yelling at each other in front of guests.

Went for drinks at the bar. Definitely convinced us to consider an overnight stay. Beautiful property!

Visited their Beach hotel 3 years in a row. Two of those years were great, minor complaints. This past trip, we stood a little longer and regret every minute of it. First two nights were fine. Third night a group of college kids were in the room adjacent to us. Needless to say they would not be quiet. They would constantly bang, scream and lord knows what else they did in that room. The noise didn't end until roughly 3:30AM after some of the "guys" got into a fist fight. We called the hotel several times regarding the noise throughout the night. Nothing was done. When we checked out the following day, we complained to the front desk and we told, "We don't do anything about that. " We'll be staying at a different hotel from this point on.

I will not be staying at this hotel again. While the grounds are pretty, we had dirty sheets and towels in our room; pubic hair included on our sheets that also had stains. The staff was not rude but far from friendly. The beds were very uncomfortable. When asked to get our complimentary beach towels, we were sent to the sister hotel to pick them up. Upon arrival at sole on the beach were met with an attitude told they had no towels and that the resort should not have sent us there. We had to buy our own beach towels for $27 at local shop. For what we paid I expected much better service. Very disapointed.

I went to book a hotel room as a surprise for my parents and I spoke to a guy named Thomas and I gave him the dates of May 20th into the 21st. He asked me if it was a one-night stay and I confirmed and he gave me a price. I told him I was getting the room for my parents and asked if they would need my credit card when they came and he told me that I would need to sign a credit card authorization form and scan him a copy of my license and credit card. I did so and got back to him a day later and he put me on hold to deal with a customer and said he would help me in 1 second to book the room and instead a girl came on the phone to help me and when I told her what was going on she said let me go talk to Thomas. She comes back and told me that it was a two-night minimum and that I couldn't get the room for that one night. I told her Thomas already told me that I could have the room for that date so why was that changing now. And she said we have a music festival coming up we can't rent the rooms out without a two-night minimum and Thomas said he never discussed dates with you. So I said if he never discussed dates with me then how did he give me a price on a room? He gave me an exact price and made me send him a copy of my license and credit card for what reason if we didn't discuss a date? And she said I don't know but he said you guys didn't discuss a date and we can't give you a room unless it's a two-night stay.

Terrible service. Place was empty and they still did not seat us even though we had a reservatuon. Seriously needs to get its act together.

Great people, great vibes and AMAZING food. The rooms are modern and comfortable, the outdoor area is very relaxing and the staff is very helpful.

Do not book at the sole east motel. The front desk was rude. The room had many problem and no one could fix it. At night I did not fill safe sleep with my family there because the door only had one lock that font desk could open. do not book ever.

Clean nice rooms, beautiful pool area. Very good restaurant w garden in the back.

Absolutely outstanding in every respect: 1. The location off the beaten path, means peace and quiet 2. The grounds are beautiful, the pool, the fire pit in the garden, the restaurant and bar 3. The staff, super nice, eager to make the stay as pleasurable as possible 4. The rooms are clean, comfortable, with all the amenities one needs 5. The west locale is half a block from the beach 6. The prices are very reasonable 7. It's a win all around, cant wait to go back.

This hotel is not even worth a point on one star. I had made reservations, and wanted to contact the office to confirm the reservations, the woman in the "call center" was rude, and was unable to confirm/answer any questions regarding my reservations, to which I later found out that the woman doesnt even have the hotel's computer system. This hotel is open during the off season but in order to speak with someone in the actual hotel you have to call on Mon Wed or Fri between 11-3 (In my opinion, there is no purpose of the woman in the call center other than answering the call and stating she would "send a message. ") Long story short, based on the way I was treated, by the manager, I cancelled my reservations. I was charged a cancellation fee after not even 24 hours of making the reservation. I completely agree with Alic12 as far as the attitude of the staff. They were very rude/snotty and not willing to help at all. For all potential customers please save your self the frustration and DO NOT book @ the Sole East. Advice to the Sole East if your going to makeover the hotel you might as well make over the ugly attitude of a staff that you have employed, you should have left the staff back with the bed bug infested rooms you once had! Hope this is helpful to anyone reading.

Nothing like the website. Room was VERY overpriced ($350) — Again not like website. Totally renovated meant Fresh paint — NEVER had a hot shower, shower dripped FOREVER, Sockets were literally falling out of the walls — a safety hazard. NO safety locks — maintenance walked into room while in bed — Then again there was no place to sit. Chest of drawer was a three drawer night stand. Closet was two feet wide — had to live out of our bags Room was so small only one person could move at a time. Pool was so cloudy you did not know which way was up. Partying Noise was not kept to a reasonable sound level. Staff had NO training in service — everything was hit or miss. FOOD was good but the same order often differed. Drinks were good when you could find a bartender. Everyone was friendly but not much helpful. Montauk is very laid back but for the price one should received SOMETHING.
