Based in Chinatown, it was the dirtiest, smallest and noisiest hotelroom I ve ever seen. You automatically look really for chalk marks on the floor and the „crime scene — do not cross“ caution tape… At least the staff was quiet friendly.

I booked this place for 9 nights but had to leave after the first. If there was the option to award this place no stars I would. It was hands down the worst place I've stayed at. I'm not sure if it's even fit to be considered a hotel. The rooms were ridiculously small (if you stood up and spread your arms you'd be touching both walls easily). The walls were so thin you could hear everything that guests even 5 rooms away were doing. There were about 16-20 "rooms" crammed on a floor but only 2 functioning baths. It was also considerably dirty and smelly and customer service all but virtually absent.

Not worth the cheap price! I, like everyone else, went here for the cheap price, but even I have my limits. I ignored the warnings, and I shouldn't have. The staff is friendly and the building is secure enough, but the rooms are unacceptable. You're basically in a janitor's closet sized space, and it has NO CEILING. In case you're not sure what that means, it means the only thing dividing the space between you and other guests, are the tall walls. You can hear every move they make. Every belch, snore, passing of gas (which happened a lot), and phone call/phone alarms at all times of night. There is no where to put your things, so I couldn't even unpack. There's barely room to turn around, just a small hook on the wall and an outlet to plug in your phone. The harsh fluorescent light is not comfortable at night, and the light from the other rooms will shine into yours. So if you need darkness to sleep, that's entirely dependent on the other guests turning out their lights. The bed is also AWFUL. When I arrived the sheets had hair and blood stains on them. They changed them out for me, but who can comfortably sleep on something after that? Also I woke up with SEVERAL bug bites… SEVERAL! The bathrooms are a mess too. You share them with everyone on your floor, so complete strangers are using the facility before you and most don't cleanup well.

Bring Ear Plugs! Paid $55 after taxes and fees for a Friday night, a single room was just over 6ft long and 4ft wide, think a closet with a bed. I was expecting the worst, but wasn't all that bad. A very annoying lady was talking very loud at 7am on Saturday morning until another guest yelled "Lower Your Volume". The walls are paper thin, you can hear pretty much everyone else. At 9am a Probation officer came and was banging on a guest door? The room was pretty hot for me at night maybe 75f, I like a colder room to sleep, there was a small fan that helped a little. In the room was a tooth brush, paste, soap. Came in at 2am and left at 11am, this is just a place to sleep. Still $55 for a place to get some sleep and shower at this location in the city, not that bad.

Pros: really affordable for NYC Decently clean bathrooms and bedrooms Convienent access to the city. Didn't need to cab to Chelsea I just walked. It was about 2 or 3 miles. Cons: Quite loud at night. Couldnt fall asleep as quickly as staying in a real hotel room. The rooms are literally janitor closets with beds. Wifi is absolute trash. Couldnt even watch Youtube in 480p Minimal storage space if not none. No views or windows Overall if youre on a budget you get what you pay for and its not a bad option. Id rather stay in this than in a hostile. Plus its pretty much in the middle of everything. If you have a lover traveling with you and you want to get frisky with them that'll have to be put off because theres no space.

OMG! Never go there. Although it was 50 bucks cheaper than to rent a good hotel in NY, it's not worthing the money. The worst experience. We had a very small room (dusty) with no window. Therefore it was summer it was very very cold. That's not the worst although — they gave us dirty and in a bad conditions coverlets (think they weren't changed a month)

The cheapest hotel in New York with a terrific place.

Catastrophic — chicken coops of 1, 40x2m.
One is separated only by gypsum cartons from the other over 30 people, above it lies a wire fence — you hear every fart and smell every beer-soaked burps.

Calling it Grand or a Hotel is a bit of a stretch, rooms are small and the facilities are basic. Facilities are pretty poor, reminiscent of backpacker hostels in Asia. Just a fan, a shelf for your stuff and a bed. Given the location/surrounding neighbourhood and overall condition of the building you could easily be in Bangkok as in NYC. Rooms are tiny, its hard to conceptualise till you see them as all the photos above don't show the space between the door and the bed. Luckily I had quiet neighbours as there is no privacy in terms of sound between the rooms. I could hear both sides of a phone conversation taking place next door. Was somewhat hard to find due to construction covering the facade. Really only suitable for people on a tight budget, and to be honest it wasn't that much cheaper than other options, especially if you're in a position to wait and book at the last minute. Good Location though and the staff are friendly.

If you are forced to sleep, get yourself a bag-sheet, earplugs and a mask for the. Eyes.

Bed bugs will attack you in the night and ruin your week. It's quite embarrassing to deal with. No cost savings are worth subjecting yourself to this place. I brought a live bed bug to the hotel staff and they didn't care. Owners and hotel managers not present. This place grosses me the f out and I travel for a living in budget rooms around the world. Please do not stay here.

The only positive thing about this "hotel" is its geographical location. The place is creepy and dildoing; the rooms are dirty; the Windows (when there are) do not protect the cold or the noise. The bathrooms/WC are not regularly cleaned or reassorted toilet paper…

For a budget minded traveler, it's a great choice. They offer warm to hot showers, simple sleeping quarters, and a relaxed atmosphere. Staff is friendly.

What have you expected dumb people? The standard fits to its costs. Haha that claustrophobic room like 2x2 meters that I have had a pleasure to be living in will stay to the rest of my life. But it's ok! PS: I'm the one who put polish souvenirs on the bed when was living the room last year at august.

Very loud air conditioning, very hard bed. The front desk people were pleasant. The bathrooms weren't cleaned in the 2 days I was there.

This hotel is disgusting to pay for 3 days and I went running the first night had bed bugs I went to see a doctor had the entire back infected to a video we take the type of reception I wanted to return the money not because they recommend it in the web pages is unhealthy.

Rent room cheaper, $50 a night plus tax but it is a room that is smaller than a closet of the apartment, it is literally a single bed, has bath comoartidos, if the hotel is full you'll have to wait to take a shower, even so, if you want to go as a tourist with a couple of friends, this place is perfect because all you have left to 25min in subway, consider also that you can sleep peacefully if you are a heavy sleeper, because he listens to all of the other rooms.

Very dirty, the bathrooms are shared and mixed, and the medium washed every 2 days and very superficialmemte, the rooms are tiny and expensive, only the bed and 30 cm to a side, that is common in Manhattan, the rooms if they are clean. The managers are very friendly and are willing to help.

Though the representative at the counter was NICE, the hotel/room was far from. The sheets had multiple stains and the bathroom had knats and mosquitoes. The room of course was absolutely tiny, but, you get what you pay for.

It is a dungeon, don't go down and why pay them.

Do not let your dog stay in these Kennels! The place is like a prison, but unfortunately the tiny closets which are turned into rooms are not as big as prison cells. We measured our single rooms… the entire floor area of the room was 6 feet by 3.5 feet! There is a tiny bed and stained mattress in the room and nothing else at all. The entire place is absolutely filthy throughout and the stench is vomit inducing. There are no windows in any rooms and the ceiling of the rooms, well there isn't one… it's caged metal. There is zero chance of any sleep… even with a 24 hour day of travel with a long flight and then a few beers! Far to much noise… generally made by the sounds emitting from both ends of around 40 men! The bathrooms are disgusting and unhygenic… better to get your wash or bath in the Hudson! Can you have a Zero Star rating? One star is so very generous… whether it be the rating on here, or the star rating of the hotel. Stay away… even if offered free of charge. We booked 4 nights. Left 7am first morning. Disgusting. Disgrace.!

I would never recommend this place ro my worst enemy. This place is disgusting, staff are rude and honestly you would be better sleeping on a park bench… A PARK bench is probably bigger than the bed they offer. I give this place a rating from 1-10 a negative5 PLEASE SAVE YOUR MONEY AND GO TO ANY OTHER PLACE THAN HERE.

It's quite fine since I am just here to visit the Place and not the Hotel itself though I am not expecting that it would be like this small. The price per night is cheaper than the other hotel so do the room. The room itself is cheap but it can accommodate you well. Just set aside those people, my neighbours, who — I think — doesn't know that their alarms are kind of loud and don't turn it off as soon as they heard it. Gosh! And the way they talked to each other is kind a messed things up cause the rooms here aren't soundproof, okay. I just can't say "Hey! Shut the hell up or just think of those people whose are still sleeping! " Man! That's kind of rude I'll do that. But, all in all, it's fine to stay here if you aren't that picky~ thing~y type of a person. So there, thanks.

Good for people who just need a place to just crash in at night after a whole day tour in New York where small room does not matter. And if you like Chinese food there are lots of restaurants nearby open until late night.

It is very simple: New York is a big city and you'll spend most of your time visiting the highlights. That's why a hotel in New York isn't that important, but a little bit of comfort in your hotel would be welcome. I will be honest with you: the Bowery Grand Hotel will not offer you that kind of comfort. The rooms are very small, even a midgit would say he barely fits. You'll have to share the bathrooms and these bathrooms are not clean. If sleeping is the only thing you'll do, then this hotel is perfect for you. If you want to do some relaxing in your hotel, than I suggest you should find another one.

Very very small rooms! The ceiling of the rooms consists of netting and the walls between the rooms and corridor are incredibly thin which makes this hotel very noisy. You can literally hear your neigbours whispering. There are better hotels in this price range.

Worst place I've ever lived in. Tiny room is okay but there's no roofs; it's open on the top and that's why you can hear 10's of people snoring whole night. Got tortured for a week.

The worst "hotel" I've ever stayed in. It was freezing cold in june and I had to sleep with my sweater on because they wouldn't lower the air condition. I caught a cold though. When you entered the "room" there was space for one bag at every side of the door and that was it. The fan was broken and so was the tv. But the worst thing of all: I had bedbugs. And not only one or two… There was a nest or something… Worst stay of my life. Wouldn't have expected that to be possible on 3 squaremetres… Fortunately expedia got me out of this nightmare and upgraded me. Will NEVER come again.

Was trying to get a room here for weeks but the 2 "NO VACANCY" signs that stay in the window suggested it was always booked. Dispite the signs we finally get a room the size of a standard closet, Room 112. Within the first hour I found the first weird looking bug, not recognizing it we didnt think much. After Dozing off for about 2-3 hours I woke up and turned on the light, 3 MORE BUGS! But these ones looked like bed bugs and they were. One right under me and one on my pillow, I couldnt believe it. We grabbed our things as fast as we can and on the way out, there's 2 more crawling from the corner of the bed. When we told the guy at the front desk he acted like he already knew and was sorry we had found them. He offered us another room after he told us there wasnt any ones available but the one we had but I didnt wanna risk spending the hours of 6-11 (checkout), switching rooms with more bugs. WORST EXPERIENCE EVER! The best part was getting my money back and leaving this place. Trust me, DONT waste your time.

Fleas and bedbugs EVERYWHERE. I told the staff about this and they got me a new room, a new disgusting room with even more bedbugs. I had to buy insecticide myself, but it didn't work well because there were just too many of them. I got bit all over the body and it is just painful. The stay here, I would say, is the worst thing that ever happened in my life.

Location on all 100% convenient to subway a couple of minutes. Around some Chinese, and with them on quieter. Yes and walk to the ferry at stèjton island and to the Brooklyn Bridge, it is can be reached. Places in little ulrobočke. But for that kind of money. This is the best option!

Great location. Grand Street Metro is a block away. Feel the excitment of China Town as soon as you step outside. Rooms are very small, but had a working fan. Great place to crash for a night or two if you are visiting the city. Bathrooms are shared but you can lock the door and take a nice shower. I will stay there again if I am traveling alone.

You'll get a bed at a very central location, but nothing more. However, the rooms are private, which is nice, and it's cheap. Good for backpackers who travel alone and don't need much comfort. My room was very small but clean (and there were no bedbugs). Be warned that the stairs are very steep and there's no one to help you carry your luggage!

So, this as "you get what you pay for" kind of hotel. It's cheap, one of the cheapest in Manhattan. And you get your own room. Which is incredibly small, the bed takes up around 75% of the surface. Inside the room you have a small tv, and they give you a free small soap bar, a free small tootbrush, a free small toothpaste tube, everything small small small. The restrooms are very nice, 3 every 10 rooms, so you rarely find all of them occupied. In facts, they are bigger than the rooms themselves. In every floor, two have a shower, one has shower+bathtub. You have a hairdrier in every restroom. The water is not so hot, I think because they want you to wash yourself quickly, but hey, remember, it's a cheap hotel. The people at the reception vary a lot. They shift from the supercool young asian guy who gives you suggestions around the area, to the old chinese man who doesn't speak english at all and smiles a lot, to the nasty middle-aged oriental enemy of mankind, who wakes you up at night shouting that he has to "check" something in your room (it didn't happen to me, but to my — innocent — neighbor, and the walls are very thin, so this thing woke up the entire hotel). They give you free wireless connection (but you have to ask for the password at the reception). Problem is that sometimes the wireless goes away.
