I needed to go to NYC quickly and was in need of a place that was local to the business that I had to attend to. I reluctantly booked a room here because of the location and, although the price was unbeatable, I say reluctantly because I had to "share" a bathroom. Out of all my travels, I never had to share a bathroom before so I was definitely nervous. When I arrived at the hotel, I was greeted by a very nice front desk attendant who quickly checked me in and gave me the key to my single bed, shared bathroom room (the key was an old fashioned, plastic, punched hole key type). I went up the tiny elevator and got to my floor — which was very hot (Mid August) and dated. At this moment I questioned my decision making in regards to booking this place and was almost ready to go back down to the lobby and see about cancelling. I'm glad I didn't. When I inserted the old plastic key and opened the door I was welcomed by the cleanest, coldest (A/C worked great! ) and most tidy room that I've been to in a while. Although very small, the room had a sink, desk, small flat screen, great view of the city, and a very comfy bed. I was very comfortable. The shared bathrooms and separate shower rooms (two separated toilet rooms/shower rooms per floor for ten guest rooms total) were spotless and sanitary and very well-maintained throughout my stay. All in all I had a great night's sleep and utilized the limited services effectively for my visit. It was a very peaceful place.

Excellent place to stay while in NYC, price is good, location is great, beds are comfortable, there are air conditioners. Not renovated but who cares. What you pay goes to something worthwhile as well.

I really liked the location and the friendliness of the people who attend the building. The room is acceptable for the service and quality ratio. It is very difficult to find accommodation in the heart of Manhattan for this price. I liked it very much and it is highly recommended.

Room lower than expected and not in line with the price paid. Noisy AC, and poor service. Great location.

Love Seaferers! Great value and great location! I've stayed here several times and love it. Rooms are basic, but who who visits New York to hang out in a hotel room?! Located in a cool neighborhood (just off Union Square) with lots of restaurants, bars, and shopping, and with subway a block away you have easy access to the whole city. Highly recommend!

Great place in a nice location. Clean and quiet, not much more. Excellent to visit NYC. Within 1 block fron Union Square plaza anf metro.

A great place in every way! Although cold, like everywhere else in NI.

Great for a short quick trip. Friendly staff. Extremely clean and quiet. Next trip will definitely be spent here. About 2-3 miles from Times Square, which we walked. Easy access to everything.

Customer service was welcoming even at the late night hour when I arrived. I was offered Tea in the Lobby and when I came down I was showedbhow the machine worked. Cleaniliness was a plus. My number one thing that I was pleased at is that they had available in the room draw a HOLY BIBLE! Yes I was very thank you. I'm glad that they recognize that Jesus Christ is Lord.

First night we had shared restrooms and rollaway for second bed. Room didn't have blankets but was warm enough to get by. Second night we had private bathroom and a very nice room with two twin beds. We would definitely choose that if staying in NY again. Price was good for NY and goes for a good cause.

Very convenient location.

Great location, very clean and very respectful people. Rooms are small and you have to share WC and shower, but their were always clean and shower Walther was always warm (you'll need if you go on winter) but for the price was awesome. Congrats!

The rooms are surprisingly spacious for New York! And the price is incredibly reasonable for the location. Plus they use the profits for a good cause instead of just lining some already rich family's pockets. The bathrooms are small but clean and comfortable. Beds are comfy and the staff were very friendly.

It's cheap so you get what you pay for. I was worried about the bathrooms being unclean since you share with others, but it was very normal.

Excellent family atmosphere and prices far below the hotel in the Big Apple! Preferential location for touring Manhattan.

It was nice for the price. No complaints about anything. Except for the Wi-Fi. If they invested in better service I'd give it a 5.

Small rooms, very clean and tidy. Perfect location. Just what you need if your are visiting to spend your time out and have a place to sleep.

Really great if you're on a last minute budget… if you can plan ahead there are better rooms for the same price but last minute it was lodging at a reasonable cost. Also they do good with your money helping migrants and refugees so that's always a nice bonus.

I attended a sketching event with a live model at this place. The event was great and the venue was welcoming.

Basic and clean. Bed sheets and towels crispy fresh. Good price, no frills, great location. You get the sense there is some good cause or ethics running the place. Made my stay in NY possible. A big thanks!

Very accommodating but it is more like a college dorm and not a hotel. But it is cheap, effective, and the staff are very pleasant.

I live in NYC and was staying there to aid in a work conference. The place e was much nicer than expected, and the people I talked to at the reservation desk were quite friendly. It's definitely a decent budget hotel in a very central part of the city.

I stayed here for one night and attended a concert at Irving Plaza, which was about 100 feet away from the hotel. The location is really unbeatable, value is exceptional for private rooms adjacent to Union Square, and we had no issues returning to the hotel in the middle of the night. Our room had a twin bed and a cot, and we opted for a shared bathroom to cut costs. I found the bed to be adequately comfortable and the staff pleasant. Not a single complaint! I always recommend Seafarers International House to friends looking for a place to stay in the city.

Great place! Very clean and perfect for a studenti like me, that was looking for a place where to only sleep. The bathroom istruzioni shared with other guests, but I had no problem with that. Also the bathroom was quite clean. Rooms are small, but it you are looking, like me, just for a place to rest is ideal.

A wonderful and friendly oasis in busy New York City, just a block from Union Square Park, home of the Union Square Farmer's Market. A majority of MTA subway lines criss cross under Union Square Park facilitating travel to most areas of Manhattan, as well as Brooklyn. Rooms are about like a college dormitory room. Staff is so nice — almost all of them know me. Clint Padgett even bought me lunch once! Single is around $100. Double about $145. Only five or six blocks to Gramercy Tavern, Reba McIntire's favorite NY restaurant. Seafarer's is a mission of the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America.

Cheap place to stay at compared to other hotels in NYC. Close to Union Square. We didn't read properly that the cheapest 2 person bedrooms had shared bathroom and toilet, but we upgraded to one with own for a couple of days.

It's a relatively cheap hotel for this part of the city. Rooms a small but clean. Good for a short stay in NYC.

Stayed last July. Very clean and hostel like had a street view and a sink in our room. Shared bathrooms and showers, but there was no one on our floor so it wasn't a problem. Clean rooms, nice staff and coffee in the morning. Great location for the price. Right near a beautiful park, restaurants, and subway. Best place to stay in NYC for this price!

Perfect location and price for seafarers.

First if you're looking for a Hilton, this is not a Hilton. It is though in a very good location and you get what you pay for here But there is something that this place has that the Hilton doesn't have. Most of the staff, top to bottom including room service and maintenance are so friendly that if you're there long enough you will be on a first name basis. Rooms are OK and shared showers are even ok but did you plan a trip to NYC to sit in a room? Need help finding you're way around. Just ask! There are some rooms with bathrooms and even a fridge if you need that. Cost more. There's a reason it is hard to get a reservation there. It's because they have all of the rooms full most of the time. I don't think the Hilton fills all of their rooms most of the time Try it out. You might like it and even go back.

Totally worth the price. The location is very central, close to the metro and it's a safe area. The rooms are small but nice & clean and they have proper air conditioning. The staff is friendly.

What a great place to stay. To be in Union Square for this price is unbelievable. The staff and rooms are both wonderful. I recommend staying here above and beyond any other place in NYC. You will enjoy the stay.

Great location. If anybody says the cost is to high, they don't know what there talking about. Speaking from a mariners perspective.

Great if you're expecting to be in a small dorm room. Shared bathroom was fine and my room had its own sink. I could not find anything cheaper in manhattan than this. The subway is close and union square is hopping with restaraunts and stores. There is even a whole foods down the street. Everything was clean. A/C blew cold. The only bad thing was the cot. It was unbearable to sleep on and I ended up sharing the twin with my wife. Would I come here again by myself. Definitely. With my wife, probably not. Kids would be out of the question.

Exactly what we were looking for. A clean, affordable, basic room with a great location. You absolutely can't beat this location for this price! Friendly staff ready to help. Highly recommend.

It's actually run by the Lutheran church. Stayed here during the summer of 2010. Reasonable rate and clean. I went with a single/shared bath. Never had a problem with getting into the shared bath. The location is perfect for subway access — two entrances within a block. Lot's of good restaurants within a few blocks along with two markets. Wi-Fi was weak but there are two Starbucks with a couple of blocks that have decent Wi-Fi. If you're looking for amenities, probably not your best bet. But for a clean room at a good rate, it's worth the price.
