Our first impression was a big one… we walked into the quaint office, rang the bell and Jeff came out to greet us. He didn't just come to the window at the sign-in desk, he came out into the lobby, shook our hands and chatted with us for a while as if we were old friends. That really made us feel at home. He walked us to our room, and it was the coziest little thing — very befitting to an inn along the wine trail on a lake. The little touches were so very nice. Bed was comfy, but the best part was that we had our own little deck off the back of the room where we listened to our music at night, ate our leftover sandwiches from the deli we hit earlier in the day during some wine tasting outings, and just sat enjoying the peace and quiet. Even though there were rooms on either side of us and perhaps people were also sitting on THEIR decks, we never heard nor saw them and it felt very private and wonderful. Can I tell you another nice little touch that tells me these innkeepers really take pride in their inn? As the sun was going down, we were returning to our room only to find the proprietor hand-lighting little votive candles inside lanterns outside of each and every room. At night, the place glowed with warmth and was so very inviting. These little touches really wowed us. The location was wonderful… away from the hubbub of Geneva and Watkins Glen but still a very short drive to both. Wineries abound in the area, and RIGHT across the street was Hermann Weimer vineyards — a Wine Spectator award winner. VERY nice. That, and the homey Crossings Diner was delicious for a home-cooked breakfast. You'll meet a lot of locals! It was a comfortable stay at a great value and location. I highly recommend staying here as you explore the area!
