We came to check in late afternoon, gave us a room went to it and was dirty with a note saying this is a bed bug with squished bug, went to desk got another room and it also was dirty! disgusting.

We were stuck there this week for a coronavirus scare… these people were absolutely amazing and took care us bringing us whatever we needed. From me and the other Wells boys thank you and your staff for going the extra mile, we really appreciate it… you guys are awesome! Thanks again. — mark.

Everything was so amazing. The food was phenomenal and the drinks where some of the best ones I've ever had. The staff we're always kind and courteous. The ambiance was very warm and welcoming. I will definitely be coming again.

Always enjoy being here. Have stayed a number of times. Restaurant/bar is great. Rooms could use some updating but still comfortable.

We went to the Mother’s Day Brunch this past Sunday. The food was great but the service was even better. We had Brandon as our waiter and he was beyond amazing. Hands down the best waiter I have ever had. I hope to have him when we return next year.

If I could give no stars I would. Where is the manager?! We we're fraudulently charged for smoking in our room. For one we are not smokers! Secondly, we notified the front desk of the odor and was told we a smoking room was above us and that it's just the way it smelled. That should of been a red flag. We are waiting to get our charges reversed. We plan to never stay here again. The shower had a hair clump in the drain and there was food on our floor in the room.

Great as far as a hotel stay goes. Group sales is a nightmare! If you're planning a group go through corporate instead of the hotel directly. Staff was great! Rooms were adequate.

This place is definitely plain Jane but I thought a lot of the basics were there. Here are the pros and cons I found about the place: Pros: Rooms were clean, air conditioning in room also worked really well Beds were fine, nothing super comfy though I thought the staff was really nice Location is on the lake so that was really pretty Bar on the patio has great prices and bartenders are very friendly Cons: Surprisingly there are no mini fridges or complimentary water bottles in the room The free breakfast is very sparse and, as a tea drinker, they ran out of black tea and they don't look like they replenished things like that often Gym was definitely lacking.

Had my wedding block booked here. Worst customer service ever. Everyone was rude except the restaurant / banquet manager Martha! I was so embarrassed when the cleaning staff kicked out one of my guests from there room because they thought that they were only staying one night! The front desk stole money from my mom who was paying for rooms in cash. They said the transaction never happened and when the cameras went to get checked the just happened to be deleted! There were so many problems with check ins the day before and of my wedding. The only reason I'm giving it two stars was because we had a cocktail party the night before the wedding and Martha was so sweet and helpful and the food was good! I would never recommend this hotel to anyone.

3 stars is being generous of me simply because most of the staff tried their best to help me with anything I needed. It’s a privately owned hotel but the owner won’t invest any money in upgrading stuff that he/she should. They have select rooms with a fridge of a decent size and the others are fridges that are about 2ft High and will most likely freeze your food or drinks no matter the setting. A lot of rooms I stayed in had a mildew smell to them along with the ac/heat units not working properly. The hotel is in a great location by the lake with a decent restaurant which is another nice thing. Breakfast is so so and you’ll be lucky if the pancake machine works, if you have coffee and milk. If you don’t have that tiff in the morning then it usually takes a while for them to replace the stuff. A lot of times you’ll have truck drivers come in and take up most of the parking as well. I’m probably forgetting some stuff as well.

Nice place. Rooms are nice and clean. Decent hot breakfast. They have been very accomadating in the past.

OK — it was clean and nicely sized. No room service because only "one" person on duty. Oh here's the best, the hotel rents out the resturaunt for events so unless you want lunch outside in the rain this weekend, you have to go somewhere else. Breakfast was pretty lame (eggs looked old and crusty — yuk! ), we went out instead. Bed was not very comfy but at least pillows were decent. Came back after lunch and they had tossed everyones bedding and dirty towels in heaps outside their doors up and down the entire hallway. Kind of gross — most hotels have a rolling bin at least. I expected better from a Clarion… so disappointed!

Nice hotel and location. Only thing is they have loud live music right outside our room. According to the front desk, the music goes until 12/12:30 at night. I understand it’s Friday night, but some people have things to do in the morning. 10pm would make a lot more sense.

Great place right on the water. Many amenities including a bar and great restaurant. Employees are excellent. Good location a few minutes from I-90.

Nice room but over priced. Breakfast was fair, very poor attention to cleanliness. There were napkins on floor, mens room toilets were filthy, breakfast was 20 minutes late. Trash outside right next to front door. The employees seemed blind to spills in dining room. These problems never attended to in 2 hours. These problems existed on previous visits so I believe management is to blame.

Awful experience. Staff is very rude. I called on the phone because we were arriving earlier then expected girl that answered was very unpleasant. Upon arrival they charged my card twice I noticed right away and of course said something right away girl again was awful handed it in a extremely rude way I asked to speak to her manager and then manger wouldn’t even come out and speak to me. Such an unpleasant experience because of the staff alone would tell anyone to go to a different hotel in fredonia! Not worth it!

Room was nice. Wings were good. Service was fine. Would recommend.

The living portion of the room was clean, The jacuzzi tub was gross we turned it on and mass amounts of sludge came out of the Jets so a gallons of bleach and a few hours of it soaking and it was good to go. The showerhead was held in place with a half of a walkin cooler hing. The wallpaper was coming off the walls and had been wet in areas of the living area and bathroom. From the tub you could see how gross under the sink was also. They also started testing the fire alarm nice and earley and often making for a very unpleasant wakup at an unplesent hour. When we asked why the alarm kept going off at the desk on our way out the lady said very snotty " we are testing the alarm and sprinklers sorry" and turned around and walked away. I am far from a snob but I have been in customer service for the past 30+ years of my life this is not how you talk to a customer. We are from the area and had moved away and come to visit friends and family often we will not be staying in this hotel in future visits.

I only visited the entryway and conference rooms, but everything I saw was clean, neat, well lit, and decorated very nicely. The restaurant looked very upscale, and the concierge was very friendly. I will be considering this hotel for future business and leisure needs.

Tried to eat dinner there and the food and food options were so bad we left after ordering appetizers I ordered the stuffed mushrooms but I got microwaved stuffed mushrooms, the plate was warm but the mushrooms were cold and the cheese on top was hard from being microwaved. My husband ordered the scallops and his was not warm covered in bbq sauce and they were supposed to be wrapped in bacon but sadly there was none. We were going to try to push through and stay hopeful for dinner, the options were limited and had nothing to offer and sadly I saw the man seated next to our table chopping a under cooked potato that was supposed to be a baked potato. I asked if garlic bread came with my chicken part and was told no but could eat a bread stick, I couldn’t order a roll with butter no I was stuck with a salad bread stick. My husband wanted prime rib but was told that it’s only an option on Saturdays. One of the meal options was lobster Mac and cheese, chopped up lobster mixed in Mac and cheese. We decided to run after paying for our 30$ worth of un eaten appetizers microwaved fresh (lol) and take our money and use it at a place that didn’t remind me of a school lunch room. Yokosos for the win, we spent 84$ there because the staff was great and friendly and they had hot fresh food and don’t mind if you want bread. We will never order from the microwaved restaurant again.

The banquet room was very clean but the room was freezing! Food was good, they gave us styrofoam plates. That bothered me. But other than that it was clean and had a great view!

The staff was extremely accommodating. The room was nice, albeit a little dated. In general, the place really suffers from a lack of indoor pool however. As a result, they earned four and a half stars due to the staff and the cleanliness of the place.

Friendly staff, stayed in honeymoon suite. Could've been slightly cleaner… but staff rectified my concerns quickly. Would stay again. No bed bugs!

They can put together great settings for a wedding. Great looking place nice rooms and they even have a gym/pool hall. Outside pool though no more inside pool.

I'm really surprised that this hotel has a low rating, I've stayed at this location many times over the ten years and have had only great service and comfortable stay. The staff from the front desk to housekeeping have been friendly & courteous. There is also a great restaurant on site The Wind Jammer also had a great experience there, food is also great! So finally the hotel has clean rooms it's not the Hilton but it's just a really comfortable place! I will be back again!

A little more than a year ago our family had my father's memorial service breakfast at the Clarion. After not finding what I wanted and having to pay a higher price for something for we didn't really want, I called the Clarion. Within 10 minutes my mind was put at ease and ended up with something even better than I had planned on. The waitress was awesome. The food was awesome. They even put us in the main dining area since it was their off season for lunches and had a gorgeous view. I was so grateful! The Dunkirk High School Class of 77 also had our class reunion at the Clarion in August and the same level of professionalism was shown during the entire process from planning, great food and wait staff and accommodating us when we wanted to add/change things. Great place to do business!

The place is pretty, right on Lake Erie. If you're lucky, you might get a room facing the lake instead of the parking lot or busy road. I was not lucky. The beds are comfy. The bathroom adequate. You have to beg for a refrigerator in your room. Thank God my sister is diabetic or else they will charge you. I have stayed here many times. The staff are nice. The restaurant on location is good, not many choices but the prices are fair. Breakfast that's included with your stay is also very good. What annoys me is that they nickel and dime you. The room is on the moderate price zone. They have two pool tables and a foozeball table. Bring your quarters cause it's going to cost you $2 a game to play. Really? You couldn't just let the guests play? There's a piano to play as well, but like five keys don't work. It's depressing. The gym equipment works though if you're into that. I went to the bar at 4:50 in the afternoon. There were three of us sitting there. No happy hour. Prices could have been better too. Like I said, the beds were comfortable. My niece just stated Fredonia so I probably will be back because I need a good night's sleep.

Great place with a wonderful marina. Not in the best part of town, I wouldn't leave anything in your car over night. Clean, great food in their restaurant.

Customer service there has always been horrible. Called to get a quote for a wedding reception, Found out if you don’t choose one of the packages given, you won’t receive a call back. Very unprofessional.

We enjoyed our stay here completely. One of the most enjoyable parts of our stay was when we walked by the Lakeshore at sunset. Had a great cocktail on their outside patio and a lovely meal. Our room was clean and comfortable the beds were perfect. We would stay here again and would recommend it to others.

This hotel has the potential to be 5 star. But it needs serious updates, and was NOT very clean. Not worth $250/night! It's set by lake Erie with decent views. Benches set outside, outdoor bar. The lobby was clean and inviting. Staff, was very helpful and great. Once we entered the hallways it became evident that the place needed updates; there was old furniture in the halls, and old carpeting, the game room (pool table, etc) had old dusty equipment, and the fitness room was dusty and looked like some items were broken. We had a king size room with in room jacuzzi — which was a nice surprise. The upholstered chairs had stains! Gross! The bed was clean, thank God, and pretty comfortable. The bathroom was clean No refrigerator OR microwave. The pool outside was a decent size, but I feared it may not be clean based on other areas of the hotel. I ordered cake and wine from the bar to take back to the room. The wine was pretty good, but the cake was OLD! We stayed here to drop off our son to college, and had limited choices. Last hotel we stayed in the area wasn't any better. So, we plan to look at surrounding towns for better options.

Place was nice for a quick stay. Went to turn the heater on because the room was freezing when I got there, and the dust inside started burning. I guess the heater hadn't been used in some months. We booked two rooms, one of the room's mini fridge was in the hallway on the floor when we got there. We didn't really need the extra space but I guess that is worth noting. Part of the rec room was under construction but it didn't affect us. The breakfast was great, do-it-yourself waffles and other options. The dining area is beautiful and pirate ship themed. Short walk to the marina, was beautiful. I'd stay here again. Place was huge, probably good for weddings and parties.

Hotel by the Lake on Lake shore Dr. I'm Dunkirk. Going towards Central ave. It's on your right hand side. Very clean and nice staff hotel. Food is amazing. Little pricey but the $5 Wing night/12 on Wednesdays are definitely worth it. Whether your going there to stay or just in town definitely stop in. Eat in or outside, outside has music, sometimes live band, bar, by the pool. Grey Great view of the Lake. Very nice servers!

The Clarion faces the lake with a good view of the nearby marina. The staff is very friendly and willing to help you in any way possible. The restaurant on site is delicious and the bar is very inexpensive. The room was tidy when I arrived and kept clean during my stay. There is a fitness center on site, but I have not visited it. I would highly recommend this hotel for any visitors to the Dunkirk area.

Decent rooms, restaurant is ok. Nicest hotel in the area but not much competition. It's clean at least what I saw.

Had the crab macaroni and cheese gnocchi as well as a Margarita, both were excellent. Our waitress was very friendly, polite, and competent. Overall, a great eating experiment.

The clarion hotel is a beautiful hotel, just a little dated. It's location is alright but it's the staff that really makes it worthwhile to go here.

My recent 2 night stay for business was outstanding. Amanda, the manager, was very accommodating and Linda at the front desk as well. Beautiful facility… spotless rooms and a great view of Lake Erie. The restaurant was excellent and I took advantage of their Tuesday night wing special (12 wings for $5). I will certainly stay again in the future and highly recommend. Thank you.

I attended a wedding reception at the Clarion. The hotel did a great job. Food was great. Atmosphere was nice. Employees were mostly unnoticed. Bartenders were spot on.

Stayed here with family, staying three rooms total. My room was adequate: about what you expect from this tier of hotel. My sister's room, however, had two water leaks develop overnight, one from rain leaking through the window, and one leaking through the ceiling right above the toilet from the room above (eww…). The overnight help at the front desk apparently didn't care to move them into another room, and they had to use our parents' bathroom the next morning. No compensation of any kind for them, I believe. My stay was fine, thus my rating, but would avoid staying here in the future due to their experience.

Perfect location for viewing 4th of July fireworks. Lively entertainment and fun atmosphere.

We held a catered memorial service. Food was goodgood, waterfront location is beautiful. Saw some guest rooms, could use some updates.

Two rooms tried. First had someone else's salad in the refrigerator and the second was filthy. Left and was told we would be partially charged for the room.

Not clean, rude staff, cleaning staff is offensive. Restaurant was horrible and bar tender was rude. When we questioned a drink he came to our table and belittled us in front of other people then talked about us with the manager at the bar. Bed was filthy. The entire staff starting at the front desk drops the ball on service. Phone in room didn't work and Internet was almost non — existent. Wouldn't send anyone there.

I was here for a wedding and reception. The staff did a great job, and the parts of the hotel that were seen (banquet hall, lobby, out back) were beautiful.

The food was amazing. Very very deliscious! Would definitely recommend this place for a wedding reception or professional presentation space.

The waitress we had at the restaurant was phenomenal. I can't remember her name but I do remember she called herself a "mutt. " Kudos to her and her staff. Awesome service and awesome experience.

This is a cheap hotel trying to appear grand, with a nice lobby and view. That is the best thing about this hotel. The rooms lack maintenance. They are old and not well kept. The carpet is dirty and the lighting is very poor. The linens were extremely thin. Not even at a regular home would you find such worn out linens. The housekeeping staff always seemed to be in a rush to finish the half way job. Though the front desk staff were very friendly, I was happy to leave. There is not much competition in Dunkirk so I guess they do not have to do much to get guests.

The front desk and lobby are very nice, they should have spent a little more in other areas though. The first room they gave me was nice, but the in room jacuzzi tub water wouldn't shut off after turning it on. Then they sent up the dish washer to try fixing the issue, of course this was after someone from maid services was sent up and told by the front desk to "push down on the knob to get it to shut off", which tells me they a knew about this issue, yet still chose to rent that room to me. At this point almost an hour after I called the front desk to tell them I had an issue with the jacuzzi tub, they gave me another room, which I had to move all of my belongings to, with no offer of help to do so from the hotel. At no point was I offered a discount, or future discount for my troubles. Comparing this with my stay at the Best Western a week before… At the Best Western, breakfast wasn't just continental it was full on hot breakfast, and lasted almost 2 hours longer than the Clarion offered. Hot coffee, tea, and other drinks were offered 24/7 at the lobby in Best Western also, no mention of anything like this from the staff at Clarion. Checkout time was also 1 hour earlier than Best Western. Clarion did have a restaurant inside the hotel, and supplied a menu (with prices which were already high) in the room.

One of my favorite places. Clean comfortable rooms, excellent view on lake Erie. Friendly helpful staff, good breakfast included.

There is no longer an indoor pool, only have a seasonal outdoor heated pool and a small exercise room available for guests. They do have a wonder Free Hot Deluxe Continental Breakfast everyday.

Amenities: — Free breakfast — NO breakfast only coffee served Free parking — not adequate handicap spaces due to high capacity of parking at lounge Accessible facilities Fitness room — electronic lock was taken apart and staff could not open room with key or with key card; staff told us maintenance couldn't come until 10:00 am to fix if Lounge was SO loud even with industrial earplugs, could not sleep till it was done playing. Not spectacturly clean, but adequate. Would not recommend nor stay there again.

I stayed at the Clarion, Dunkirk for a conference in the fall and really enjoyed my stay there. They were very accomodating to the needs of the group and provided a wonderful experience. I had two double beds in my room and I was alone so I put all the pilows on my bed. Those Pillows Are Heavenly! The food was also very good there. I am glad we are having our two conferences for the the year there again.

The hotel is really nice and with it being on the lake, it's absolutely beautiful. If you're looking for a late night meal, good luck! I highly recommend bringing snacks or stopping and picking up something.

We have stayed at this wonderful hotel 5 times now and we have had a great experience every time. The hotel is always super clean and the only time it was semi-loud was when they were hosting a beauty pageant and even then you didn't hear much, they must have great insulation in the walls. We never heard the trains going through town either and there are a LOT of tracks there. There are boats in the harbor you can charter to take you out on the lake for a half or a full day cruise or fishing excursion. They always have events going on there, once a month the town even has a music festival on the pier and they are used to us tourists wandering around although it's not a huge tourist area. We feel like we found the perfect vacation spot, right on the lake but there's not thousands of people all around you. We can run up to Niagara Falls and come right back to peace and quiet. They also have a great restaurant and live music in the bar on the weekends.

Great hotel, with a great location! Right on Lake Erie, clean rooms, a lot to do in the summer time, plus they have a restaurant and bar on site, which is great to come back and relax after a long day.

We selected a room with King size bed and partial wall suit. The door to the adjoining suit would not close so if some one rented it they could walk right into our room. They moved us to a new room. The TV in that room when you turned it on and turn the volume up so you could hear it, it would turn the volume back down to zero. So they moved us to another room. There was no remote! They quickly (that is the only good part) sent someone up with a new remote, it didn't work. She got another, and it didn't work. She called maintenance and they broght one, yeah it worked but the speakers on the TV had that I'm ready to blow sound to them. Oh well we stayed. To find out the room they put us in was 30 dollars cheaper but they didn't refund us the difference. I will never stay in this hotel again or any other Clarion Hotels.

What makes this hotel special to me is that across the street there is a small Puerto Rican store that offers delicious and authentic food offering take out meals. It's called Sabor Latino.
