Really not worth the cost anymore. Kinda Sad. The cost has gone up, but the level of service has gone way down. Service at the Bell Tower was horrible. We ended up having to get up and search for someone to take our payment after waiting for 30 min with empty glasses and plates. The lobby bar was just as bad. I was embarrassed by this because I thought I was treating an old friend to what had been an excellent hotel. She was not impressed. On a positive note: The receptionist checking us in was very nice and the concierge was very helpful finding us alternate places to eat since we were not going to subject ourselves to more bad service at then hotel. I wont be going back. Very sad since I used to love this hotel.

Very easily accessible to the rest of the Plaza area. Desert was full of flavor! The presentation was just as impressive. Excellent service and extremely friendly staff. Very upscale place to eat or grab desert or just some drinks. The atmosphere was very welcoming and high end.

We had a great lunch at the French restaurant connected to the hotel. Attentive, friendly service for a great price. Be sure to bring cash as they don't take cards; if you don't have cash, you have to go to the ATM across the street. The shops in and around the hotel were just meh. Very much just touristy trinkets and other things. The area was nice with interesting architecture.

Beautiful historic, luxury hotel. Accommodations were wonderful. Bed and pillows were extremely comfortable. The staff exceeded expectations and met all of our needs with a great attitude. I will stay here again next time I'm in Santa Fe.

A beautiful yet historic hotel. Located just a few steps off the square in the heart of all the galleries. Just a few more steps in the other direction is the historic church. Most of the tours start just outside the doors of the hotel to include city tours and adventure tours to the local mountains. Most restaurants were. 1 miles or local spots at less than a half mile. For being the oldest hotel in the area the rooms have all the comfort of a modern hotel. Our room was clean and stocked with free water, which is needed on those warm days. The staff is excellent and very helpful. If you run out of water in your room, just ask for more. The hotel also boasts the Bell Tower Bar for the nightly sunset happy hour. The margaritas are ok but the view is unbeatable.

Top notch hotel. Has everything you could want. Lots to see and do within walking distance.

Room is really cramped, and what bothers me each time we visit is how unspecial they manage to make you feel. Last night, we were turned away from the bar for drinks because we only wanted drinks (no food). We were told they were at capacity.

I was very impressed with this hotel. The staff was great and every accommodation was granted. The beds are nice na d firm. The restaurants are fantastic!

Went here for lunch and did not stay at the hotel. The meal was good, the service was also good. There may be some other spots in town that are rated higher, but if you don't want to wait almost 2 hours this place should be at the top of your list. If you like margaritas you'll be happy with the one you order here.

Best chile relleno I've ever eaten.

I was very excited to go to La Fonda with some friends as we were staying in town for spring break doing volunteer work. We heard of the live music and decided to check it out. However, upon arriving the server declined to serve one member of her party due to her valid, government-issued, Wisconsin id being vertical. Don’t come here, the music was too quiet and the food was only standard.

Beautiful and romantic setting. Specially by the fountain. We went for an enjoyable lunch, Nancy made us feel comfortable and welcome, her support staff was on it every step of the way. My La Fonda cob salad was tasty and satisfying. La Plazula invites you to a Birthday Club offering one Free Entree for your birthday month. Be sure to sign up.

La Plazuela was a pleasant surprise from past visits. Food was great and the service excellent. For about $16 per head and enough to take home for lunch tomorrow, it was a good value too. Always a great atmosphere in La Fonda.

Great historic hotel with a superb staff. Everyone from the front desk (Michael at the front desk night shift was wonderful), the concierge, restaurant staff, housekeeping were super friendly, knowledgeable, and eager to help. Our room on the 'Terrace' floor was cozy and beds were comfortable. La Fonda is right in the middle of all the action on the Square a is a 'must stay'.

Nice hotel, I'm glad they haven't changed much. The rooms are nice with what looks like 50+ year old tile, very quaint but still updated on a lot of ways. Bathrooms are nice. The restaurant in the lobby is very good and the lighting is great. Parking is close by and safe.

It is always relaxing at La Fonda. The rooms are beautiful. La Fonda is on the plaza, so no need for your car, unless you leave the plaza area. Parking is in the La Fonda parking garage. Staff are superb and quick to respond to visitors requests. La Plazuela, the restaurant at La Fonda serves wonderful food. I especially like their breakfasts. La Fiesta lounge is a great place for a drink or lunch buffet. The Bell Tower is spectacular in the spring, summer and fall. Beautiful views, great drinks and appetizers. Go early as it is sometimes hard to get a table, but the wait is so worth it. As you can tell, we have had wonderful experiences at La Fonda.

I wish I had a better experience to share about this place. On my recent trip to Detours at La Fonda, I had the displeasure of being followed around while I shopped. I noticed the security guard watching me as I came in, and in the holiday spirit I smiled and gave her a nod of acknowledgement. What I received was a glare in return followed by the very obvious and humiliating realization that this woman was blatantly following me as I tried to do some Christmas shopping to bring home for my students. When I called her out, she returned with the same rude glare. I did bring this to the attention of the clerks at the front desk who apologized profusely for this poor show of character. As I told them I understand the need to monitor during such busy times, however there are right and wrong ways to treat people, and the way this woman treated me was wrong. I don't know why she singled me out. Perhaps she thought I acted too friendly, or maybe I just wasn't the right color for her. While I have a clearly Irish name, a result of my father, my mom is from India so you can picture what I may look like. It wasn't hard to notice that the other, whiter customers entering and leaving were not being given the same treatment. I don't know what kind of policy La Fonda has for the treatment of their customers, but they should reconsider the training their security is given. I hope La Fonda addresses this problem so that no one else has to experience such insulting behavior.

This place is awesome. Its a must see if you're visiting the Santa Fe Plaza. Oh and go check out Santa Fe Cutlery next door. I have tons of hand made knives I build for sale there. You will really enjoy visiting this area of the Plaza.

We had a family Thanksgiving dinner here. It was great! There was an abundance and variety of food. The service was top tier! This hotel is full of history and is rumored to be haunted! They even have ghost tours!

Stayed here for the Plaza tree lighting. Was treated excellently by the staff; really felt pampered. We had an amazing room with a view. I wish we could have stayed longer, there was so much more to the hotel I wanted to check out.

The food was rich and the bottle of red wine also. The room has high ceilings and our staff was professional and expert.

It was a very artsy hotel. I love the gallery at the ground floor. Concierge was very nice and helpful to my husband. Other staff were awesome as well. The old couch was a little bit out of place in the sun room (old balcony converted into a sun room).

Very disappointed, especially when every other experience in Santa Fe has been a positive one. My girlfriend and I were enjoying the town and decided to drop in for a drink. We were refused service due to the fact that my girlfriend's ID was aligned vertically, not horizontally, which is typical for an Texas ID when the individual is younger than 24. We were both forced out of the bar feeling quite embarrassed, as if we were caught trying to drink underage. This particular hotel obviously discriminates against younger people, and I was glad to take my money somewhere else. Would recommend anyone thinking of going here to reconsider and not support this kind of unfairness. That is all.

It has changed a lot. I've been coming for about 32 years. The staff is excellent. It's really become commercialized when they used to be shops here but now there's just like shops are in every nook and cranny. It's very nice hotel.

Long wait to get a table. Make reservations. Don't let the strawberry enchiladas fool you (crepes) the crepe is dry and flavorless. Chicken was good but a little dry; liked The papaya and cilantro sauce. The tortilla soup tastes good. The place decoration is very unique.

Great food. Good atmosphere. The little pastry shop is super awesome if you get there early. They say that the hotel is haunted that's kind of cool. They used to hang people in the lobby back in the cowboy days. That's pretty interesting. There's so much history in that hotel alone. It's located smack dab right in the middle of the historic downtown Santa Fe so… If you love beautiful Art, wonderful food, Hispanic, Native American culture, high quality hotels… Then Santa Fe is your place to be. My personal favorites places to visit are Houshang gallery for bold art with vibrant colors, Santa Fe Gold Works for beautiful locally handmade jewelry, and the Violet Crown Movie theater has wonderful quality food… It's an odd thing to think of good food coming from a movie theater, but it does. They even have home made ice-cream, and good craft beer.

We dined at the restaurant right in the middle of the ground floor and the food and the service was excellent. There was a bar next door but the music and ambiance exuding out was very lively and positive. While waiting we browsed around the little shops around the restaurant but inside the building. The displays were unique and interesting. Not a boring minute during the entire experience.

This is a neat hotel with a very rich history. This place as been around for a long time. If you get a chance, read up on the history of this hotel. From assignations of a district judge, to a gambler suicide and even passing of intelligence & Russian spies during the advancement of Los Alamos. Not to mention, Bill the Kid was jailed not far from there. The rooms are nice. Very much a southwestern styling. It is close to a lot of very nice shops and a neat little plaza. I would recommend and I would stay again if ever in Santa Fe, NM.

Beautiful rooms, lobby, and building. It has a classic meets contemporary Santa Fe feel. The bar and restaurant are both excellent, but a bit pricey (granted nearly everything in the area is pricey). The Hotel's location is fantastic for anyone looking to spend time shopping in Santa Fe, but you'll want to stay parked at the hotel as much as possible due to the area's heavy pedestrian traffic. Just walk out of the hotel onto the street and start walking if you're looking to visit the many shops in the area.

We had lunch and drinks on the Balcony. It was do enjoyable sitting on the balcony with the nice breeze and enjoying the lovely view! Our lunches were delicious and the menu had interesting items from which to choose. The wait staff were friendly and helpful. The next time I'm in Santa Fe I'll definitely go back. Also, my husband enjoyed drinks and talking to other guests at the lounge on the main floor while I enjoyed the shops in and around LA Fonda. Great experience!

Good levels of service to be found at this historic and attractive old hotel right off the plaza. It's clearly been a few years since a renovation, but that's a plus in my book. Plenty if the original features and work are present while still remaining comfortable. Great rooftop views as well.

Truly one of my favorite hotels I have stayed in. I have traveled a lot and have stayed in 5 star hotels and this one is in my top five. Classy, amazing service and perfect location. They take great care of this hotel and the staff all believe in what the hotel stands for. I will definitely stay again. The food is amazing too, I highly highly recommend the chicken tortilla soup. Enjoy!

Great hotel. Stayed here for two nights and it didn't disappoint. We'll apportioned rooms (ask for one with working fireplace… Delightful experience), very clean, prompt and courteous staff. All good!

Beautiful place. My room was tiny, but it was overlooking the central Plaza. Very comfortable, cozy, and had everything I needed. Meet my brother and his family there, and after a long day of sightseeing, shopping, and a fabulous dinner, we retired to the private upper lobby to visit. Great place. Expensive for me, and certainly not something I could afford normally, but they were so gracious and accommodating for us, I thought it was worth every penny. I want to go back!

The hotel was nice but some of their decorating choices were odd. The floor was concrete and the only rug was under the bed. Other than that it was a good bed with nice sheets. It is pricy but that is the cost of staying in the center of Santa Fe.

We stopped by to view this spectacular place and for a dining experience. Everything was excellent, including the staff. Price was near our expectations, which was a bit over our budget. Very iconic spot in the downtown.

La Fonda Hotel, even if your means do not allow you to sleep in this hotel, do not hesitate to push the door, at 100 E San Francisco St to see the inside and why not have a drink. This is undoubtedly one of the most beautiful hotels on the 66 road and one of the oldest in the United States where the past is still steeped in the walls. Today it is a luxury hotel with incomparable charm whose rooms are furnished in the colonial or Mexican spirit. It has three restaurants, a spa and a shop.
It is one of those must-have hotels on the 66 road.

The location is great! We parked in the La Fonda's garage and we're able to explore many interesting places on the Plaza. The food is high, but the guacamole is good. The interior is swanky, but I would never she'll out to actually stay there, when there are so many nice hotels a little further from the plaza.

I live in the area but if I was visiting Santa Fe, this is where I would stay. It's a very historic location that is a short stroll to the Santa Fe Plaza. The location can't be beat! The hotel just finished a refurbishment of the first floor bar / lunch buffet. The Mexican lunch buffet in the bar is fantastic. My Mom loves to go there when in Santa Fe. The hotel has a very nice center atrium restaurant that is light and airy. The food is good. It's a fun place to take friends. The hotel hosts holiday buffets that are really nice. There is a roof top bar on the southwest side of the building on the fourth floor. It's a pleasant place to have a drink overlooking the city. If you want the real Santa Fe experience in a historic location, then this is the place right in the heart of the action. The airport shuttle stops in front of the hotel. There is a parking structure attached to the hotel for guests. If you have a tall vehicle you wont fit.

Food was excellent, and the plaza atmosphere was really nice. Each meal comes with a side of Posole and sopapillas, which is a nice touch.

Staying at the La Fonda was a wonderful experience from check-in to check out. The staff is incredibly courteous and helpful, we had a wonderful experience with Anita at the front desk. The rooms are beautiful and thoughtfully put together, plenty of storage space and areas to put your things in the bathroom. We had a great afternoon at the pool. There is so much to do and see in Santa Fe and the La Fonda is the perfect base to do and see it all. The concierge staff is particularly helpful with ideas and planning. I wish I could make the La Fonda my permanent residence!

Beautiful building. Cozy rooms with original art and comfortable beds. Staff all extremely friendly and helpful.

Fuimos al restaurante se dice La Plazuela. Había muchos platos en el estilo de nueva Mexico. Comí ceviche y gazpacho verde. Había muy rico, pero un poco expensivo. Me volvería otras vez.

Stopped by LA Fonda on the Plaza for a quick after dinner drink. Had the Ancho Chile Margarita and the Salsa flight. I would say that both were adequate, nothing spectacular, but the hotel is beautiful and the newly remodeled bar was gorgeous.

We stopped in the bar for drinks after walking around the plaza. The ambiance ia lovely, the bartender's delightful and the drinks are cold. He even made a Shirley Temple for mem.

Food at La Plazuela is outstanding. Not very spicy, but excellent authentic New Mexican food!

The La Fonda is lovely. It's situated right between the Plaza and the Cathedral. It is within walking distance of everything you want to see in downtown Santa Fe. The rooms are nicely decorated in a lovely southwestern/Mexican motif. The staff was very friendly and helpful. The La Plazuela restaurant has good meals at reasonable prices and is one of the restaurants that is open at a later hour. 10:00pm is late for Santa Fe. They also do room service until that time. Because we stayed there in late March/early April we didn't get a chance to visit the lounge area upstairs — it was still a bit cold. They were also in the middle of a remodel in the lobby. The registration area was being re-done. Despite the remodel the lobby was clean. Would definitely stay again at La Fonda.

Old school. Very old school. Historic! La Fonda is undergoing an update to bring it into the 20th century. Kinda like an old shoe. Walk the halls for history and dine in their kitchen to make history. There's not a bad dish, unusual yes — like cauliflower steak. Can be pricy so watch your pennies and treasure the bountiful abundance of service, fine food and drink and a dash of old school Pueblo surroundings.

Excellent location. Very close to Ski Santa Fe. Restaurant was pretty good. Pretty nice rooms with comfortable beds.

Stopped for a drink, atmosphere was good just super packed and crowded, the wait for a table was to long for us to sit down and eat, but a standing cocktail by the sports bar was good.

I'm not in the mood to write a long review, but feel the need to… one year after we held our wedding reception here. I will just list off the problems: 1. Checked into my suite (I was the bride) … the room was completely trashed… had not been cleaned, and it was already 3 p. M. 2. We were not allowed to set out our party favor matches that we had made because they were a fire hazard (we were never told we were not allowed to get matches…) completely ridiculous 3. Before my husband and I were introduced to our reception, we were notified by the planner that some of our guests had small bottles of alcohol in their purse and that we needed to make sure they threw them away… WHAT? who says that to a bride… go find someone else to complain to I don't care… 4. Staff was rude to our guests when they would try to walk through the lobby to get to their rooms or go outside. 5. Also, we were told when we were booking the room for me a couple months in advance they told me that there were no rooms available on the "suite" side… this is the side of the hotel where there are only about 8 rooms, and where the terrace is… I was bummed, but ended up getting a pretty cool room by the clock tower… anyways — my aunt and uncle checked in (had booked a normal room) — and La Fonda put them in one of those suites that they claimed were all booked! 6. The bar that we paid for shut down 15 minutes early. Not acceptable. You say you will stay there until 11 pm, then you stay there until 11 p. M.

A 4 star rating should never be given to hotel that is dog friendly.

A stay at La Fonda proved to be unnerving with extremely loud super-woofer BOOM, BOOM, BOOM noise from youth and intimidating types cruising around the Plaza. Some were cruising on super-charged thunderous motorcycles and spinning their wheels to create squealing sounds and tire smoke during jackrabbit starts at the light signals. I could not find any police in the area to complain of the horrendous noise and potential danger to pedestrians attempting to cross San Francisco Street. Locals I spoke to indicated it's always like this, especially on Friday and Saturday nights. My elderly mother was nearly struck by one of the cruisers talking on a mobile phone while speeding his vehicle through a red light. The Plaza is an attraction to tourists and families with children. Some cruisers broadcasted obscene, police/women violent rap/hip-hop lyrics. Where the heck are the police? Why does the local city government allow this dangerous behavior? For $282.00 a night at the La Fonda, one would expect to some peace and quiet not to mention a feeling of safety while crossing a an intersection with a green light.

La Fonda is truly the jewel of Santa Fe. From the bell staff to the woman who cleaned our room the staff was nothing but gracious and friendly. The room was artfully decorated with the old town charm of Santa Fe. The robes, extra pillows and towels were nice as well as the coffee maker and refrigerator. Rebecca at the concierge desk was such a pleasure to work with; her dining recommendations were excellent and her knowledge of the surrounding area was appreciated. She was delightful! Seeing Jorge's smiling face at breakfast was at great addition to our yummy dining experience. La Fonda will hold a special place in our hearts.

Pretty good, the bedrooms a little smaller than normal. The food is great but no room service. Very nice staff. I recommend it to anyone coming to Santa fe.

Do not miss the chance to enjoy their egg's Benedict. Blew mind.

For events, the management can be pretty unhelpful unless you get in their face. Our event room changed day of, and there were sudden upcharges as well. Sleeping rooms are nice, but the bed is uncomfortable. Several nights without solid sleep. Lastly, the restaurants are not well-exhausted and there's a fried/burned smell throughout the first floor.

Nice place for dinner or drinks at the bar. Good service, live band is entertaining and always people dancing.

Great. Loved it. Ms Brenda helped us out a lot. We hope to return soon.

I review only the the new mexican lunch buffet for $10 at la fiesta lunch at la fonda; this is good food and all you can eat at a great price in this location; you cannot get better value in any restaurant in vicinity of santa fe plaza. Also parking tip for budget travelers; free parking within reasonable walking distance at capitol building garage when legislature not in session; capitol building has unique architecture and great art displays.
