Review of Madison Hotel Boardwalk 2*

This hotel is currently under construction as of july 2015. Very early into construction; everything still looks a giant mess. The only redeeming quality about this hotel is that the water pressure is good and the hot water lasts a while. However, the positives stop there. I booked this hotel because it was within my price range and it was close to both the boardwalk and the Boardwalk Hall, where I had concert tickets on 7/17/15. Additionally, the hotel advertised complimentary continental breakfast (which many hotels offer), flat screen tv, and conveniently located ice machines. Unfortunately, I discovered upon arriving that the hotel is under construction. I was not informed of this when I booked the room. I arrived at my room to find paint stains on the carpets, my bed sheets were torn in multiple places, and the bathroom was dingy. Strike one. I went out to attend my concert on Friday, and when I came back I wanted to get some ice before bed. The ice machine on my floor (8th) was not working. I went down to the 7th and 6th floors, neither were working. I had to go to the lobby and ask the front desk person about ice. The only working ice machine is on the 14th floor. Strike two. Saturday morning I went downstairs to find out that breakfast would not be provided due to the construction. Strike three. I spent the rest of my Saturday at the beach, and I checked out at 7:45am on Sunday although I didn’t need to check out until 11am. I would not recommend this hotel to anyone else. Besides my experience, I watched as a couple attempted to check-in, and were told about last-minute charges. They declined the charges and asked to cancel their reservation, and the desk manager was very rude to them. I will definitely save some extra money so I can stay at a classier hotel next time I’m in AC.
