If you want to stay someplace where the front desk person belittles you, this is the place for you. I made a reservation here when my power went out, as I’ve done for the past 5 years of living in Freeport. I’ve never had a problem before last night. I went to check in, the front desk only had a sign on it to go to room 102. Ok, I go off to find room 102 to check in. The man was sitting in silence outside the room and as I approach I asked him if he was the front desk person. When I asked to check in he told me I should have known better, that if I didn’t have power they didn’t either. Again, for the past 5 years we’ve been at this hotel when our power was out, so ok dude sure. Then when I said hotels usually have power, he goes “ok ok I have a lot I could say to you but I won’t. ” At this point it’s a larger man, in the dark of night, who has access to my home address and personal information, saying that he could say something about me but wouldn’t like some sort of veiled threat. I was uncomfortable to say the least and left. I will never stay here again and I encourage anyone who values being respected to stay far far away from this hotel.

Older hotel, good price, quiet location.

TITLE: If you don’t like it, you can leave! This is my first time at this Inn and I travel to Maine quite often and stay at various hotels. Staying at this hotel has been a disaster. I’ve ignored the filthy walls that are stained because it’s only for one night. We came back to the room to watch television and we cannot change the channels so I called the front desk and ANN THE NIGHT AUDITOR told me that the remote controller may need new batteries or the TV may need to be reset. I asked her if someone could come to the room and help us reset the TV or bring us new batteries. She told me that she has NO BATTERIES and she was all by herself and I would have to go without the TV for the night. I told her that I would like to watch the TV because I paid for that in the room. She told me that if I didn’t like it, I could leave and she will reimburse me. Please keep in mind that it is past midnight and I have my daughter with me and a three hour ride home. I decided to try to check in at another hotel so I called the front desk to inform them and she told me that she WONT be able to reimburse me now because I went through a third-party company. Now I’m all packed and I can’t leave. She was complaining that she hasn’t been here for four days and clearly expressed to me that she was a disgruntled employee. I told her that was not my concern, I just wanted to watch my TV. She was extremely rude but most of all lazy and unhelpful.

Nice room stayed many times. Last time I stayed no coffee cups. No big deal. And no toilet paper. Office said they would bring it right up. 1 1/2 hours later walked to office to get it. Never had bad service till my last trip. Hope it was a 1 time thing.

What a pleasant surprise this hotel is. From the street and the pictures it does not look like much. Staff is crazy friendly and the rooms are really nice with outlets everywhere. Incredibly clean and let friendly.

Good place. Good location. In the service matter we had an issue. We went out the whole day to travel around Maine and when we got back at night the room wasn’t done! Everything was exactly how we left them. Dirty towels and everything. I talked to the front desk man. He apologized but I had to argue with him to get the 50% off of one of the nights. Then the lady that helped us was really kind, but I felt that at first they didn’t want to do something to make their mistake up. The garden and pool area was Full of mosquitoes that really bit us and my girl was very scared of them. Out of that it was a good experience.

This hotel is out of town in the country near a river and offers 2 sites one on each side of the river. Our room was recently renovatad and very comfortable. There is no restaurant in the hotel but there are two adjacent to the sites. They were very good. We went in the outside pool and that was very nice also.

Decent price for the location, conveniently between Freeport and Portland. They allow dogs for a small fee which is wonderful when travelling with your furbabies. The staff were super nice and helpful. We were in the building down the road, interior of rooms looks remodeled. The negatives: the AC unit appears outdated and makes the room feel muggy, the bathroom door doesn't close, the main door has no "catch" so it slams shut echoing throughout the entire building, the bed sheets smelled musty and dirty, and the mattress was lumpy and slanted downwards toward the head of the bed. Good for 1 night but not a long stay.

Solid relatively low cost hotel. Good breakfast at the attached restaurant. Comfy mattresses. Not sure what else you could ask for at this price point. I know they are working on repairing the pool which has garnered a couple of bad reviews, but I don't care about the pool, and maintenance issues happen.

Great room for the price. Nice renovations. The exterior is old but most if the inside has been changed.

Excellent prices and very clean rooms! They were very accommodating to our large wedding party. I would highly recommend you stay here in your travels!

Our room was very comfortable, the furnishings were not what we expected, they were very clean and modern. Having a choice of lots of channels through DirectTV was a plus. The beds were super comfy. We found the staff to be very friendly. A hidden gem!

No hot water No clock/alarm in the room. They allow dogs which kept me up most of the night barking and whining. No answer at the front desk… EVER! Not worth the money.

Relatively new construction. Should be vacuumed more often and bathroom shower fixture self adjusted water temp… pretty odd happening. Cafe is average and breakfast lobster Benedict is terrible. Overall average and so is the fee.

My husband and I loved this place! Stayed on the top floor, overlooking the marsh, beautiful sunset! The room is updated to the nicest modern theme with GORGEOUS lighting ☺… we also loved the country feel just entering Freeport. We ate supper at the Muddy Rudder just down the road from hotel. No free breakfast but they do have a restaurant on site that we will try before leaving. Very Friendly check in! Would definitely stay here again! Great price! Room.

The Cafe has such great food. Always consistent and very good. Quick, friendly service every time I've been there.

This is a nice Best Western for the price… I have stayed here before, better this time… no breakfast… Good location, off the road a bit… Will stay here again…

Excellent front desk service. Rooms are clean, coffee, iron, everything you need for a rest over from long day of travel. I booked through an outside service and desk guy worked with me and got me in for the night without delays, even helped me find my room number because I forgot my glasses.

Undergoing renovation at the time of my stay. Good price for the room, refrigerator was a welcome addition. Friendly front desk attendant. A/C unit pretty loud, would have liked a quieter model. But overall reasonably clean and comfortable.

Visited off season Oct 13th. Fast friendly check in. Really nice clean and quiet room with very comfortable bed. Great restaurant next door. I would recommend it to friends and stay again.

We were traveling and decided to stay at the best Western. The staff is very friendly. The rooms are comfortable and accommodating. The price was right as well.

Nicely remodeled rooms… very tastefully decorated. The restaurant was awesome. Great reasonably priced breakfast. Beautiful pond with benches. Quiet location but close to Yarmouth and Freeport. Lots of shopping outlets and good restaurants.

An extremely nice facility in a perfect location and at a reasonable price. Close to restaurants and shopping locally and very close to Portland for any extra night life you might want. A very nice pool. Although close to the highway, there was very little traffic noise. Very easy access. A place we would gladly stay again.

Floor felt wet; we had to dismount the TV and replug it into adifferent outlet on the surge protector ; pool was closed due to "algae". Not worth $150 "government rate". Will not stay again. Lots of towels and beds were comfy.

Very pretty setting with a large grassy and pool area. Rhododendrons were blooming while we were there! The staff was very accommodating about giving us an outside room with few steps. The room was large with a large sink area and overall comfortable area. My husband commented that the bed was like a bed is supposed to be… sheets, pillows and a blanket… he hates those heavy down type blankets/comforters! There is a popular little cafe next door that serves a great breakfast!

We chose this hotel based on price and pet allowances, and we were very pleased. The room was clean and comfortable, and their pet policy is very friendly. The staff that we interacted with were all very helpful and friendly. And it was very easy to find off the interstate. We did have a slight issue with water being warm and not hot in the morning, but it was warm enough for showers, so we did not report the problem. All in all, a great place to stay, especially if you have pets traveling with you, and not far from Portland.

We have been going there for over 25 years and love it! We will be there January 14th for four days can't wait to go.

Just off the highway and only a few minutes from LL Bean. Bed was comfy.

It's very close to the shopping, with lots of parking and very pleasant front desk staff. We had a new king room and it was very comfortable with modern decor and a comfy bed.
Accustomed to BW providing breakfast but this one does not. There is a filthy little cafe next door but would never go back.

Best part about this hotel is the location of their second property which is just behind a great restaurant — The Muddy Ruddy.

I reserved a room with a scenic view and king size bed on the ground floor (with walk out access to the porch). I was given a room with two full size beds on the second floor, stating they didn't have any more king size rooms, nor any on the first floor. I made the reservation 4 months in advance, they can make it, but not honor it apparently. The room also had a moldy odor. The full size beds were small and excruciatingly uncomfortable. When I complained, I was told many of the rooms had new mattresses, but ours wasn't one of them. And it's "personal preference" as they claim different guests actually like the feel of the mattress. The daily cleaning and restock of the towels was excellent, and the location was great, but I won't be staying here again.

Nice location little out of town, but not bad. Had breakfast, all turned out well, would have preferred home frys cooked more, was still good though.

Clean and quiet. Dog friendly. We will be back.

Very friendly! We were given a room with what they called a VIEW but all you could see were trees and a marsh. We called the front desk and they apologized and quickly moved us to a newly renovated room with a view towards the pool. Room has a Kureig coffee machine, microwave and a fridge. Wish it offered continental breakfast, but they dont. We definitely would stay here again.

Very good quiet hotel, recently refreshed with nice furniture and bed, the caffe restarurant is the weak point.

Stayed 2 nights! Updated, clean and friendly! Impressive for the rate of $66 a night!

I have been staying at this hotel for years and can only say that it has changed completely since my last stay. To begin with, I was prevented from using the handicapped entrance to the office (I am handicapped). I was forced to descend the ramp I had just walked up to another entrance which involved stairs, which was quite difficult for me because of arthritis. The phone in my room had no cord connecting it to the wall. The shower did not work, by which I mean that no water whatsoever came out of the shower head. Several surfaces in the room were sticky. The whole experience was extremely unpleasant. When TripAdvisor asked me to review my stay, I did so; shortly thereafter II received an email from the hotel's manager with a pathetic apology and a promise to refund the cost of my stay within 72 hours. That was three weeks ago. A week ago I emailed her to inform her that the refund had not materialized, and I have heard nothing since. This just adds insult to injury. I would sleep in a ditch before staying at this dump again.

The rooms are pretty nice. Clean, up to date, and well maintained. It is a pet friendly hotel with areas to walk the dogs, as well as pet waste bags. Linnens are replaced and beds made, although the cleaning service did not really clean up a lot, but we do have a dog in the room and it is not a really high end hotel, so that's cool. The beds are a bit hard and the linnens a bit scratchy, but I have certainly experienced much worse.

Bed and sheets and shower are nice. Lots of plugs. Overall much nicer than I would expect, and dog friendly. Stars knocked off because not all doors close well, and the fridge was left not running, causing mold.

It is great neat place and worth every penny. Nice little cafe by the side for great food. If you are looking for a 3 star hotel for less than $70 go for it.

Room was updated. Flat screen tv, modern furniture, they did a great job. Everything was new and not rundown or broken.

This inn is nicely located on main routes near to Freeport — the home of LL Bean and many outlet stores. Staff are friendly and the building looks clean and well kept.

Stayed here several times. Rooms are always clean and their beds are comfortable. The staff is always friendly and helpful. The Freeport Cafe, on the property, have breakfasts that are out of this world!

Wouldn't stay there again if you paid me, girl at the service desk was quite rude, charge too much and refused to give me CAA discount because it wasn't asked when booking two months prior… what a crock of shit… disappointing. Live and learn and I'll be going back to Hampton Inn or anywhere else actually.

This hotel is impossible to find. You book a room there so you can attend your grandmother's funeral, and when you enter the address of the hotel in Waze, it takes you to the parking lot of LL Bean. Not one person in town knows where Best Western is located, and it's certainly not located on the main road in town, which you drive up and down for one hour while calling the hotel number listed in your confirmation email. No one picks up the hotel phone, not for one full hour, so you book a hotel room instead at Hampton Inn, which by contrast is centrally located, because your two children are crying because they think you will have to sleep in the car. Later, when informed that the hotel phone rang off the hook for the one hour that you were trying to contact them for help, Best Western will charge you for the night anyway since you are technically a "no show" and not an underserved guest they have brushed off to make a buck.

We were sent to the part of the Best Western Freeport Inn in the back of the Muddy Rudder. The place is run down, not pleasant and is a distance away from the main hotel. Since we were a distance from the main building, we had no way to get extra towels. Also, the air conditioner had no settings. You turned it on and froze after some time. Or you turn it off and sweat. My daughter had to get up all night long to turn the air conditioner on/off. The door that opened to the outdoors had no screen! We could not even get fresh air because of the bugs coming in and it was unsafe for our dog! My family was extremely disappointed and we will NOT stay there again!

Worst ever. We though we were lucky to catch that last room available on the Casco bay, even if smoking one. BUT IT was not a smoking but a sticking one. The waiter was sorry "we are considering to renovate it". Still they charge us 225$. Even 65$ would have been too expensive for such a discusting room.

Own it! I checked in, went to a meeting, came back someone was in my room! My stuff was gone and they were blaming me! No apology, nothing! Rude customer service. Another lady had her stay disrupted when I was trying to get in her room — a few hours before it was my room. They said I was in the wrong room, I had the wrong key! What I had the room you gave me. Front desk folks said they then had no room for me, what? I had a room for two hours — before the next lady got it. Disorganized. Say sorry — we messed up, not get mad at me! Not worth the hassle — try elsewhere. M.

The gracious staff greeted us at the front desk near sunset after we had traveled all day. Our room was fresh and clean, and the decor was New England charm. We slept well on comfortable beds in a restful atmosphere we appreciated. Breakfast was continental and delicious, and we enjoyed eating on the patio on a sunny morning. I would recommend this privately owned motel and would stay there again.

I am staying here right now and I am not happy to say the least. There are way better places that deserve my $120/night, that serve breakfast to boot. There are water leaks and signs of water damage all over the place, in fact there is water leaking from the ceiling now in the entry way. Our room smelled stale and the only saving grace was the balcony door which opens; however, has no balcony to walk out on nor screen to keep bugs out. Slow Wi-Fi still since the 2008 complaint. The Wi-Fi remains to be an issue in this place three years on. Clearly Management does not care to address the issue, or is unwilling to pay to fix whatever it is which needs fixing. I would never stay here again if I am in the area. There are way too many other chains that take better care of their property and their customers. I hope that management reads this and makes changes for the sake of future customers.
