It’s an awesome old home loaded with antiques and many stories surrounding them.
Stayed in the oak room. The jetted tub and working fire place was lovely and relaxing. The bathroom for this room is adjacent to it and has another large garden tub and stand up shower.
Being a very old home the floors are creaky, the beds are on the springy side and could use to be replaced but they were fine for a two night stay.
The sheets and bedding are like the rest of the place eclectic and homey, after tossing through the pillows I found two with the texture and the fluffiness to my liking. The blankets are not the crisp white bleached sheets you typically see in hotels. I actually liked the fact that there were multiple layers of textured blankets on the bed and it felt comfortable, and more personal. There was a thermostat in the room which was nice, as I like it on the colder side at night.
Evan is sweet as pie and his breakfasts were good! It was nice to wake up to the smell of breakfast first thing in the mornings (that I wasn’t cooking)
If you do not like dogs this is not the place for you, the owner has one (who was friendly) guest are also allowed to bring theirs. The house was actually very clean regardless of a dog living there and didn’t smell (that I noticed).
Maximalist is definitely applied to the homes decor style.
There are antiques everywhere as well as large beautiful house plants.

My wife and I found this gem about 10 years ago before we were married. Our last visit was during the summer when we were able to enjoy the spectacular gardens. We waited too long to return. This time we came with our little fur baby who was welcomed with open arms. Originally built in 1833 this home is filled with the warmth and charm you would expect from a national landmarked mansion. Yes, the dining room, parlor and kitchen areas are filled with collections from around the world making this a very unique B&B. Amazing gourmet breakfasts prepared by your gracious host Evan. We stayed in the spacious Veranda which is the same room we stayed in 10 years ago. Each guest room has its own assigned parking space. You’ll also be greeted by the resident Dixie who is Evans fur baby. Dixie is warm and gentle. We hope to return this summer to enjoy the beautiful gardens and swimming pool.

If you are looking for a quiet friendly historic B&B this is the place. Situated very close to all attractions and restaurants in Mystic this place provides the peace and relaxation you’re looking for. Evan the host and his faithful dog Mr. Dixie are welcoming and friendly. Evan shows you around and then the place is yours. Ice, water, seltzer, coffee and treats are available thru out the day and Evan serves a spectacular and tasty breakfast in the A. M.
The rooms are spacious and comfy. We stayed in the Cupola room which had stairs up to the Cupola sitting room with 360 views. The rooms are pet friendly so next time we will be bringing our pup.

Had enjoyable overnight stay in this beautiful, historic mansion decorated with numerous period antiques, many of which were original to the House. The proprietor was exceptionally welcoming, though we arrived late in evening, he offered us use of the dining area with set table for our take-out meal from a local restaurant since we were traveling with our dog. Our room was large and lovely — with good-sized bathroom, a working fireplace, comfortable bed and even night-time sherry in our room. Breakfast the next morning was home-made and scrumptious! Hope to return to area and to this charming home & host.

My husband & I stayed 2 nights at this lovely bed & breakfast! The biggest plus was, we could bring our golden doodle with us! House of 1833 has a lot to offer in terms of furnishings (mostly antique) Christmas decorations & very festive breakfast room! The highlight of the stay was Evans hospitality. He is an amazing chef & prepares very good breakfast. The blueberry muffins with fresh whipped cream was a topper. Evans Dog Dixie is a sweetheart & v. Mellow. Mystic downtown is less than a 10 min ride in the car. All in all, it felt like home away from home & from the verandah room, I had access to the kitchen & microwave, and the drawer with all kinds of exotic tea bags. We will definitely love to go there in summer & enjoy the pool area & gardens.

If you like old quality construction, history and antiques you will appreciate the house. The gardens are a bit overgrown (it's because they too are old) and the house is a bit musty. If you don't like dogs don't come here. We like and appreciate all of the above. We really enjoyed our stay. The owners are extra accommodating and pleasant. We will be back.

Sent our parents here for anniversary get away. We read reviews and viewed pictures online sound like a great B&B. They arrived and were shocked. Grass beyond over grown. Screen door was broken, dogs in entrance. They were greeted by friendly older gentleman and were told to come back bc they hadn’t cleaned there room. They left and didn’t return. They understand it was old antique b&b but that doesn’t mean dirty and creepy. I spoke to a rude staff member who wouldn’t let me even explain let all speak nor did he try to rectify any issues. I tried calling back and got voicemail which went unanswered. Horrible experience.

Really fun place to stay. Rooms are cozy, beautiful pool on property with a grill to BBQ. Incredible breakfast made by owners. If you get the chance check in for a night or two. Perfect hideaway.

A lovely B&B in a historic old bank. Robert never fails to give a story about a piece of furniture. Today's lesson was on a dresser passed down from his family from the Revolutionary War.

The hosts were warm and welcoming. The breakfasts we're delicious. The mansion was eclectically charming. I would stay again.

I was married here. The staff was incredibly kind, sweet, and went out of their way to help make our day special. It felt comfortable, homey, and relaxing. Our room was immaculate. Mattress, (and I do check underneath) was spotless. Dead quiet night. Enjoyed every moment. Could spend days looking at all of your knick knacks. The cake you made us so more than we could have hoped for. You were part of our family for a day and we'll never forget you. Thank you so much.

The house was a historial treasure with each room boasting pieces from multiple eras. The room itself was an excellent blend of modern features and colonial decore. The hosts Even and robert make your stay feel like you are right at home. I highly recommend staying at this B&B to anyone visiting southeast Connecticut.

Very nice, plenty of antiques to see, next time I hope to stay and use the pool.
