1) Coffee pot and tray it was sitting on was filthy and fill of dust.
2) Don't take off your shoes. Gross carpet
3). Poor Wi-Fi signal
4) Bathroom shade missing corner pieces.

Some nice pictures on the Ashland Motel’s Facebook page; I’ve added the reality pictures below. The only way to fix the mess that is the Ashland Motel is for new ownership to step in. The place is a dump, which is too bad because it has a great location and view of the lake.

Avoid this motel unless there are no other choices. The rooms have a musty smell to them, non-smoking room had been smoked in, the pillows smelled musty and smokey, the bathroom was barely clean, parking lot full of pot holes, step up into rooms definitely not to code: way over priced for a dump like this.

Great deal, stayed here for about 10 days while I dealt with car troubles traveling through town. Very good amenities for the price, fine enough for anyone who isn't a spoiled princess.

It was the cheapest place we could find in a traveling pinch. The bed seemed clean but the rest of the room was pretty gross. It did have a good view of the lake.

At first, this motel appears 'humble'. However, after looking at the room, it was very clean in spite of it being an older building. The bedding, bathroom, carpet, walls were very clean. The bed was very comfortable. There was a microwave and refrigerator in there as well. Hot water, the works. Make sure to BOOK ONLINE to get the best deal.

Considering the cheap price, I was half expecting mice and bed bugs, but it was a nice little motel. Could use some fresh, updated paint (call me! ) But this will definitely be my motel of choice when I'm there. Quiet too. Little fridge and microwave. Nice!

I hope you know exactly what you are getting into if you book here. The rooms will be dated, you will wonder how clean everything is, you will ponder if you will get woken up in the middle of the night by your neighbors being loud. Not saying that this is a bad motel, but while writing this review, the average room price here is $60 a night. Granted it is *off* season right now for the area. I have stayed here multiple times, never with an incident. It just isn't a nice place to stay.

Very clean and inexpensive; bed was extremely comfortable and the heater and air conditioner worked nicely. I will definitely be staying here again next time I visit Ashland!

Decided to give this hotel a chance regardless of the claims. Got there and hotel front desk person was stand-offish and rude. Got to our room and it had a very strong smell that wasn't pleasant. Wi-Fi did not work at all. Didn't notice any bed bugs or anything else out of the ordinary and thought I'd probably still stay here again if it were a last resort. Until. I got home and found bed bugs in our bags and on our blankets! WILL NOT BE STAYING HERE AGAIN. This place should be inspected and shut down. Seriously stay at your own risk… if I could give zero stars I would.

Great place. The rooms had a mini fridge, a microwave and coffee service. We loved it.

Bed bugs beware! I wish there is an option to give no stars. My friend and I had a terrible experience. When we complained about the bed bugs to the owner, he demanded us to show the presence of bugs instead of allotting a new room. Well, the evidence of rashes weren't enough. Thankfully we did find a few later in the night to show the proof of bugs. There are better hotels around and I would advice not to stay in this place.

It's a little expensive for what you get. Wi fi is sketchy, but is right next to a really good Mexican restaurant.

Good service, rooms are dated. Patches on walls easily noticable. Other small thing wrong to but for a company last minute room I can't complain to much.

Good view of the lake! The room smelled a bit musty and there were not amenities aside from a small bar of soap. Not the worst… not great.

Don't Book Online This little motel was clean, but not sure it was worth the money. Went to check in at the front desk upon arrival, owner stated he did not have our reservation. Funny thing is we booked online and gave him the reservation #. Owner came back from his computer stating we had an incorrect #… frustrating. After more discussion and spelling out our last names… he finally found the reservation… Thank the Lord! Another reason you would not want to book online is the room rates when calling the motel were $20 cheaper than booking online… not amused. Rooms were well kept, new carpeting and paint… beds were firm and comfortable. Bring your own soap and shampoo.

Had a reservation for July 12th. WISCONSIN had flooding on jULY 11TH during the night that washed out parts of Hwy 12 in Ashland county. We could not get to the motel on any roads as all of northern Wisconsin lost roads in eight counties. The hotel is charging us because we did not cancel our reservation two days before. I didn't know that nature was going to prevent us to travel.

Room was clean and comfortable owner didn't like the fact that we booked online seem to come up with extra fee.

This was an okay place to spend one night, but the room was very dated and smelt like stale cigarette smoke, so I was glad to leave in the morning.

Musty smell. Bed was comfortable and clean, didn't use the shower. Okay for price. Wouldn't stay more than one night.

Gross there was Mold every where. The rooms where dirty. (Both of them)

I just called to make a reservation and the first thing I got was somebody yelling at me because he didn't understand what I was saying… Excuse me? I won't mind paying $20 more to stay wherever they treat clients kindly…

Got quoted for $81.95 and when we got there to check in it came to $129.00, the guy who ran it was very rude and didn't explain anything on why the rate was higher when we asked, I highly recommend you fin an alternative place to stay. Air conditioner didn't work and the place smelled terrible.

Our family had a bad experience. This is not a very nice place to stay and not a nice person to deal with. We visited in winter, the room would only heat up to 60 degrees. Talked to the man in the office regarding the room being cold, he started yelling at us and blaming us-that we "opened the door 4-5 times, that it was cold outside, that the room was big and this wasn't an expensive motel". He tried a space heater, but it didn't help. Then he said he would give us a full refund-when my husband went to do this he would not give a refund or even a discount. We tried to talk and reason with him, he was a very difficult person to deal with. We just wanted the problem fixed, not to be harassed. We didn't want to change motels, but had no choice.

It's a bed. Nothing fancy. At all, we ended up paying the weekend rate. But like I mentioned, it's a bed; nothing fancy. Free Wi-Fi, fridge, and micowave.

It's not a nice place, but it's a bed, and seemed clean enough, although there was a hair on the sheets, but it was on there in a way that doesn't necessarily mean the sheets weren't washed. There was a strong, bad smell in the room, but we got used to it after ten minutes or so. It was at least comfortably warm. It's about 40 minutes from the apostle islands area, and five minutes from food in Ashland, so can be a good base. Nice we could drive right up to our room. The only amenities were towels and tiny bars of soap, so byo shower stuff. No pets or smoking, in our room at least. Front desk guy wasn't friendly, but wasn't rude. Overall, it was fine, and the price was right between a few people.

Yeah. So I read the reviews before I booked, and though maybe it will be ok, And it was OK. But when I got there the front desk told me I reserved a room for Tomorrow. I Said yes, I called you yesterday and said TOMORROW. He argued with me for a bit in front of another customer behind me, I finally said do you have a room for me tonight or not, and he said yes it is available, never apologizing for their mistake. The room smelled like my basement, so I felt right at home, other than I have never slept in my basement. It was dirty and the carpet was sticky, but I got what I paid for! They put the ASH smell in Ashland.

After staying at the place, I decided I need to write about this motel, since the reviews here were so unfair. The owners were very friendly and even offered dinner and tea. Rooms were good and well kept. Hot Water is available. Each room even has a small refrigerator and oven. I booked the room because there was no vacancy any where. But I am gng back dis week to the same place. If not for anything else, at least you should try out this place for a wonderful view of the lake.

It is a good motel for the price. The owners were very nice and offered me hot tea during my last stay as it was below 0. Owners will work with any issues and will help you resolve, at least thats what my experience was. You can't complain for the price you pay. I stay there usually for my business trips. Overall a good deal.
