Loved this Motel! So close to Saugatuck, sitting out front in the chairs or around the fire pit or by the pool the beautiful landscaping and chatting with the owner were all amazing. The rooms were nicely updated too! I cannot wait to come back and wish I was there right now!

Such an amazing and quaint little get away. The proprietor Rob is amazing, seeing you get everything you could want or need. Great pool and loungers, tons of seating around the property, fire pit, hammocks, beautiful landscaping, phenomenal music piped outside. Rooms are comfy and very cute. Cannot say enough good things about this motel! Morning coffee poolside with lovely music was so relaxing.

My daughter and I had a fantastic and relaxing weekend here! The pool was wonderful, and the resort had a great atmosphere. Rob was so friendly and accommodating. We definitely recommend staying here!

Impromptu trip this weekend led us to the Saugatuck Retro Resort. Girls weekend with my mom. Loved the area, the motel is quiet, well furnished and cozy. Had a little incident with a deer on the way up, and the owner was very helpful in pointing us in the right direction to getting my vehicle fixed. Will be back for sure for a longer stay next time.

I try to come every summer and am so glad to have made it twice this year in spite of COVID. The owner has taken many precautions — he could be seen spraying down pool chairs and wore a mask at all times. With the motel style set up it is very easy to socially distance. The pool is what makes the stay! I daydream about floating in this pool all year long! So relaxing!

Fantastic place! Short two day stay but bed was super comfortable and room was very clean. Rob was great and gave some excellent recommendations to local eateries, wineries, etc. Beautiful grounds! Hope to be back for a loin weekend in the fall and considering for a week stay next Summer. ☀️

Had a great experience here. I felt like I stepped back in time to when Motels were a haven for travelers! There was great nostalgic music playing by the pool and the surrounding area was very lush with plants and flowers. Beautiful place to stay! The service and cleanliness were very good as well. The owner was very friendly and gave us some tips on local places to explore.

Magic! This place is my absolute favorite. We have been to many hotels, resorts etc. This one has the character and more importantly the heart from two of the sweetest owners. Super clean rooms, grounds and pool area. What a treasure, can’t wait to go back!

Rob is an excellent host and seeks to take care of all your needs while you’re staying at Saugatuck Motel. I would recommend the motel to anyone looking to escape the main drag of town. The grounds are impeccable and the amenities are plentiful. Stay at Saugatuck Retro Resort.

It was nice to find a really nice place to stay that was off the beaten path in Saugatuck. The location worked out especially well since we were in town for a wedding in Spring Lake which is 30 minutes north of Saugatuck. The rooms were clean and well appointed, minus the minimal cable package but we didn't spend much time watching TV. The setting is great and the pool has a nice vibe to it. Like others mention, Rob, the owner was accommodating and focused on customer service. Our only regret was that we only got to stay for one night. Word to the wise: expect to pay peak season rates during the summer months as demand is high across the board that time of year.

Clean! This was one of the cleanest places I have ever stayed. The owner is very friendly, he knew all of the guests names and made us feel very welcome. We enjoyed the pool and borrowed some yard games available in the lobby. We had a great night around the fire pit with other visitors. We will absolutely be back!

This past Wednesday was our second time staying at the Saugatuck. The first time last Labor Day was sheerly by accident due to Expedia losing our reservation at another nearby spot. The owner/mgr of that location put a call in to Rob and had us set to get a room. (Be warned, Labor Day weekend is TOUGH time to get a place in such a popular area). The other rooms were booked, and the remaining room was very small and cozy so technically having our son with us made for some logicist difficulties but we / he rolled with it and we made it work. From there it was magic. The property itself: the pool, the fire pit, the hammock, the landscaping, the quiet peaceful serene atmosphere was glorious. We ended up joining the occupants of another room at the fire pit and talking into the wee hours while sipping wine. Based on that first positive experience, we booked again for this past week after dropping our son off at music camp. Again, Rob had new suggestions for restaurants which were spot on, (and a mid week, post July 4th visit is absolutely PERFECT for an otherwise highly congested tourist spot. ) Douglas was like a ghost town. No waiting at restaurants. We'll keep coming back as long as we can.

Rob makes us feel like family. Always. The facilities are very clean and all people are friendly. Love the pool! Beautiful natural setting. We plan to return again and again!

We made a special trip to Saugatuck this weekend partially to enjoy the accommodations at the Retro Resort. We’ve always loved visiting downtown Saugatuck and Lake Michigan, but what we’ve come to really enjoy as well is our time at Retro. The beautiful gardens and tall trees, relaxing by the pool, a fire at night. The rooms are always spotless, the beds so comfortable. Rob is kind and the best host and makes sure you have everything you need for a relaxing stay. Retro is a quiet getaway after enjoying the busy downtown and it’s hands down our favorite place to stay!

In town for a wedding. Great scenery. Bonfire pit and pool as well. Rooms are a bit small for the price but were very clean. Only a few channels on TV that had reception, so bringing an HDMI cable with you for Netflix etc. Would be wise. Overall a nice establishment.

The owner Rob was fantastic. Great customer service. We had never been to Saugatuk MI. We really appreciated all of his help and suggestions. Very modern, clean and most important very quite and tranquil. Highly recommend this motel. Just wished we could of stayed longer than one night!

What a relaxing vacation spot. Feels like home away from home. Friendly, loved the music, rooms campfire.

My sister and I come here every year we absolutely love the place and Rob who runs it is wonderful such a peaceful wonderful setting and a very clean pool just can't say enough about it.

This is a great motel! The rooms are not large but they are clean and very comfortable. The motel offers chairs outside each room for sitting, a great pool area and a large shaded area with a fire pit and a hammock and enough seating for a large group. Rob the owner/operator is a great guy and works his tail off to make sure your stay is as good as it can be. Transportation to Saugatuck/Douglas is inexpensive and available until 4 A. M. We will be going back for sure!

It was my first stay there. Loved it being away from the downtown areas. Pool was lovely. Friendly people. Staff were helpful and pleasant. Would recommend it if you are looking for a relaxing place to just kick back.

Stayed for 1 night with the kids on our way to Chicago. Great little impeccably clean spot. Kids loved the pool and proximity to the waterfront was great. Thanks Robert for a great experience.

Absolutely loved our stay at The Saugatuck Resort Motel. The grounds are very clean, the rooms remodeled and cozy, the pool was nice and quiet with relaxing music and the fire pit at night sealed the deal. The owner is extremely friendly and has really great customer service. I definitely recommend checking this place out!

One of our favorite places to stay. We come to Saugatuck three or four times a year, and our most difficult choice is whether to stay at the Saugatuck or Rob and Steve's other perfectly renovated motor Lodge, the Pines. They've done a great job with both places, and are wonderful hosts. The Saugatuck has such a marvelous wooded area that creates a cozy sense of seclusion (without the inconvenience of ACTUAL being secluded). The rooms have a lake house charm and are always impeccable, and the fire pit makes for a perfect way to wind down the day…

A great stay here on July 16th. A bit costly, but the advantage is theirs. This area of MI is very popular on the weekends. Found the room very clean. The only smell was the water. A slight rotten egg smell, but that's living in the country. Good linens and furnishings are modern. Interior decorations are calming and warm. Outside there is a well made bonfire pit. Okay, maybe no bonfires, but it's a great way to keep the bugs away as you enjoy the great outdoors in the evening hours. Perhaps you strike up a conversation with another resident? The coffee was a great touch in the morning. The chairs outside the door were inviting us to stay another day. All together, a great place to stay.

My son and his wife stayed here over memorial weekend. I am from the area and had never heard of this amazing motel. The rooms have everything you need, exceptionally clean and comfortable. Then they have the property set up so nicely that you almost don't want to go into town. From the comfortable Adirondack chairs right outside the room, a beautiful swimming pool you can relax by, to a welcoming firepit surrounded by chairs for friends old and new to gather. Or if you just want to lay in a hammock, they have that too. I couldn't find anything missing here. I would recommend this to anyone that truly wants to relax and enjoy our beautiful Saugatuck.
