Katie on the front desk is extremely rude… feels guests are annoying because asking for towels 4 times over 5 hours is terrible. Jacuzzi tub was filthy and full of scum in the jets. The jacuzzi tub was one reason we booked this suite as my daughter had back surgery and after a 6 hour drive needed a jacuzzi soak. Talked to Hilton, this hotel is not run by the Hilton-Hamilton but by Mackinaw City Chamber of Commerce. So no accountability. Was told by Katie there is no manager for the hotel but the Chamber. After the first night, our room was cleaned better and towels were present. However, I am bothered by the " I don't care attitude". I would not stay here again. Very, very disappointed. Thought a Hilton brand was a win place to stay.

Staff at check in were very rude. The rooms were motel level at a five star hotel price. Not worth the money at all. The ladies who clean the rooms were very nice. The pool was little and the chemicals were harsh on your skin. One bed was a foam mattress and the other was firm spring mattress. Very odd and either was comfortable. We expected a lot more for paying $265 a night. I would rather just pay to stay on the island side verses stay here again. Just pass on this one.

We were looking forward to checking into the Hamilton Inn after nearly 7 hours on the road. We arrived at 3 pm and were told the that since check in is at 4 to come back then, and your room would be ready for check in. We did not have a problem with that! We arrived at 4:27, we were told that the room was ready for check in. We arrived to our room to get settled. It was just in the process of getting cleaned. Unacceptable, we went Down to the front desk to ask for another room, or something to be done. Front desk lady wasn’t very friendly, and not helpful at all. I will definitely be calling the chamber, and discussing the issues with them. Here it is 5:00 and our room is still not cleaned. We are in the hallway waiting for our room to be done. Check out is at 11 and here it is 6 hours after…

We were looking forward to our long weekend away. This was the first time we visited the Mackinaw area. We do not usually look for a fancy place with special treatment, so usually have no complaints about our stay wherever we go. We have stayed at places ranging from Hyatt to Super 8, and never had issues. Some of those probably could have been updated or had repairs completed, but we mainly just want a place to relax while not sightseeing We arrived at 1PM of the day we were to check in. We realized we were early, but hoped to check in upon arrival. The room was not ready, which was not a big deal. We did not eat lunch, and we needed a few things from the store, so we passed the 2 hours until the room was ready. We got back to the hotel at 3:05PM. We checked in, and were ready to go relax a bit before walking around Mackinaw. We reserved a room with 2 double beds and a beachfront balcony. Once we got up to our room, the door was slightly open. We pushed the door open further, and realized our room had not been serviced by housekeeping. There was a lady who just finished cleaning the room beside our room. She had been sent to clean one room, and only one room. My husband went down to the front desk to make sure we were at the correct room. Once they told him that was our room, and they would have someone clean it, he requested the room next door to our assigned room. They told him someone was in that room.

Very clean! I drove up with three children from Detroit so by the time we got there they were running around the lobby and being a little Rowdy and the staff were literally so amazing while we were checking in. The room was perfect we had a balcony View of the beach, we swam in the pool & the hot tub (both clean and not too much chlorine thank God) and the room was spotless. Especially the bathroom. Everything was perfectly in its place, the towels actually felt soft, I didn't worry about stepping on the floor after getting out of my shower, etc. I am slightly OCD and my daughter is even worse and we both felt so comfortable and right at home in the room. I wouldn't stay anywhere else in Mackinac.

Nice hotel, rooms were clean, bed was comfortable. After reading some of reviews, I was a little worried, but we didn't have any problems. My only complaints are, there's only one elevator, if you're on an end room, you do a lot of walking to the elevator and to get ice (located next to the elevator) and no microwaves in the room (not good when you have leftover pizza and you have to walk a mile to where they serve breakfast to use the only microwave in the hotel) I might have given the hotel 5 stars if it wasn't for these issues.

Great view but our room was a little dark and dreary. We were supposed to get a king bed but got a queen. The room was pretty spacious but the screen door had some rips in it that bugs could get through so we couldn't leave the doorwall open for very long. Also, we got some snacks from the vending machine and they were 6 months expired. On a positive note, they had good customer service; the front desk was always very friendly and helpful. Overall it was a pretty mediocre experience.

Freindly staff. Our pre-booked room somehow got given to someone else. Not a big deal they upgraded us to a better room. Good location. Fair breakfast.

Bathroom lighting very dim. Shower water pressure poor. Gutter on outside by our balcony torn off and poured rain water onto one side of balcony prohibiting us from being able to sit outside. Asked for extra blanket — never got it. Staff was courteous and room was clean.

It's no 5 star resort, but it is a very nice hotel with beach front rooms. Great views. Within walking distance of downtown and the docks for the ferry. Would recommend.

Had a beautiful room overlooking the water. Bed was comfortable and room clean just a bit dated. Front desk staff was friendly and helpful. Even got an upgrade without asking. Food was average hotel buffet. It's the beautiful view and friendly staff that makes this a great place to stay. Would stay here again.

Not our original booking but the hotel corporation in Mackinaw actions were as follows : We did not stay at The Bridge Vista and were told 2 HOURS BEFORE check in that we would be relocated to a different hotel. I have never been treated so horribly by hotel staff, the worst customer service! Only a small upgrade to our room was given in compensation — our family made plans a month in advance to experience the water park at Bridge Vista. The Hamilton Inn (our alternate accommodation) was subpar in every aspect —the room, hotel service, breakfast, very dirty and outdated overall, and not to mention the pool it was dirty and so chlorinated that our swim suits are ruined and my family suffered terrible skin and eye irritation. This was our first family trip since our youngest was diagnosed with cancer 4 years ago. Such a disappointment for us all …

This is the Best Motel in Mackinaw City. We have been staying here every year for the last 36 years! Even before the Hamilton was built, we stayed at the motel Owned by another member of the owners family, and at That time it was the Queens Motel. Even back then, the Owner treated us like ROYALTY! Love the family, The service, the staff! The place is always clean and staff are always helpful, and Kind! We are now 70 years old, but will continue coming and staying here every year, for the rest of our lives… as long as we are able to travel!

Very disappointed. Breakfast is awful. There are no carts for luggage to be found anywhere. We stayed in the king/queen quite and the queen bedroom and bathroom were extremely hot and had no ventilation at all. Only the king bedroom had air which is the only one with a door to the outside. I would not recommend this hotel!

This was the hotel that I ultimately stayed at during my visit to Mackinaw City. I originally booked another location, The Beach House. The day before arriving to Mackinaw City I called and was advised my reservation for The Beach House was confirmed, however upon arriving there found a sign on the door indicating that it was "closed for the season" and to go to the hotel next door. Upon arriving to that hotel we also found it to be closed with yet another sign on the door directing us to yet another hotel. Upon arriving to the THIRD hotel, the Hamilton Inn, we were advised that we could stay there. Hotel staff were generally flippant and dismissive of our concerns. Will not be back to any of these hotels, nor will we be staying in Mackinaw City again in the future.

I only ate breakfast here. The breakfast was ok, but not as good as similar hotel breakfasts I've had. There was not a great variety of food. The quality of the food was mediocre, maybe best described as "institutional". On the other hand, the price was right as it was included with my stay at the hotel across the street.

Right on the beach. Very loud in the morning. Very competitive rates. Breakfast really good.

Didn't read the reviews for this hotel until I booked, and I was nervous with all the bad reviews but let me say I was absolutely amazed on how great my stay here was, my family checked in in another room the day before I did and we requested rooms near each other the gentleman at the desk was amazing our rooms were right next to each other, the bed was amazing and I had the best sleep until have had in months. Breakfast was ok and the coffee hot. Would definitely recommend this hotel.

Service was very friendly. There was some confusion with my registration, so they upgraded me for the hassle. Breakfast was good, and the pool is also very nice. Being the winter season, the place is relatively empty and so it is also very quiet and relaxing pretty much any place in the hotel.

Great room, and awesome view of the water. Not sure if the staff is into ultimate fighting or a victim of abuse though?

The staff was friendly. The rooms were clean. The pool was clean and a great temperature. It was a very nice hotel.

They've had a sign on the marquee for years that says "newest in town" lol. Nothing about this place looks new. The mattresses certainly aren't. I've slept on better in a cabin in the woods. The bathroom door wouldn't latch and therefore couldn't lock, which is super awesome when you have a 2yo with you. I've stayed in several MC hotels over the years and they all have the same issues. Considering one family owns 95% of the hotels in Mackinaw City, you would think they could afford new mattresses and basic maintenance. It's a joke. With only 2 hotels open for the winter, they have plenty of time and money to make improvements, but do nothing but roll on their money.

The place was clean, the view of lake was beautiful, and the room was nice and big. The people where all very nice. Gym was small and had old equipment but there was a tanning bed for a charge. Said there was a waterpark but the water park was in another hotel across street you just get free passes. Breakfast was big but not the best. Sausage had a weird flavor and gravy was soupy. Also thought the diearea sign at the pool was odd. Made me wonder about there breakfast. Either way the most important stuff was great and I would definitely come back.

We stayed here Dec. 26-27th. While the weather was bitter cold the rooms were pleasantly warm. You can tell the hotel has been around a while but everything was clean. When in the rooms I did not hear anyone around us or above us. I only heard someone from the next room when they were showering the next morning but that was only cause I heard the water running through the pipes. The breakfast is one of the better ones I have had at a hotel. Food all tasted and looked fresh. Overall a pleasant experience and we plan on visiting again in the summer.

Clean, spacious, and beautiful views at the beachfront and has a view from a distance of Island. Staff was friendly, breakfast bar was sufficient, but go early or it's slim pickings. The pool and hottub were very clean and not over crowded. The beach could be combed and cleaned up a bit. But a great time overall for a family of six!

Hotel check in was a nightmare. I originally booked 6 rooms through the website. The day of check in, the front desk called to "confirm" only 5 rooms, then tried to tell members of my party I came into the hotel to cancel one of the rooms. I did not arrive in Mackinaw until 10:30 pm. They did give my party a room at our group rate, which is the service you would expect at a hotel where the reservation was made 3 months prior. However, upon wanting to extend their stay an extra night, the hotel staff was verbally abusive to my group. They claimed they should have never gotten the room that they did, and that they weren't sure if there would be a room available to them. It's not our fault that the staff gave us a "honeymoon" suite for the rate they gave it to us. Our group made the move to a different room. Now, two weeks later, I am seeing two faulty charges on my credit card. One supposedly is a "pending" charge, which is not pending and should be taken off within 14-21 days. The staff has been extremely unhelpful in identifying what the other charge is. All members of my party have been charged the correct amount, so there should be no extra charge on my card. I've called multiple times trying to reasonably get the charge taken off, I've been understanding in that things happen. The staff is unapologetic, quite rude on the phone and even have hung up on me and my husband. The lack of respect from workers is the reason I would never stay at this establishment again.

This location was right on the beach just a few blocks away from the ferry lines. The room I stayed in was very spacious, private balcony, the bathroom was on the small side. It was very noisy at night but not really any noisy than other hotels. Room service seemed to take a long time to get to out room to clean it. I had to ask three times for a crib to be brought up. I asked for recommendations for restaurants for my family of young kids and recommended a bar and it was awful.

We have been here twice. For the most part everyone is nice. The rooms seem clean and mostly in good repair. There's a nice view on the water side. I would give this place close to four stars. There is a pretty decent breakfast. Sausage, biscuits, gravy, eggs, fruit salad, breads, bagels, cereal, powdered donuts etc. Pool is pretty nice and hot tub. I will come here again.

Loved it here, beautiful lakefront views steps away from your room patio, you can hear the waves from the lake as you sleep. Room is a great size, very nice, very clean, updated, and well decorated. Did not want to leave! Staff was very friendly and helpful. Definitely recommend!

The rooms are great. The breakfast buffet isn't all that awesome. It'd be nice if they would offer yogurt and other cold items. Vending machines are not stocked at all, and the ice machines are few and far between. Other than that, the location and quality of the rooms is great.

Needs some updating, but very clean & comfortable. Most staff were NOT very friendly or courteous. Same breakfasts every day — no variation; but the breakfasts were good.

This place is an absolute joke. The staff is undoubtedly the rudest that I've ever experienced. Wifi was completely useless. Pool had such high chemical levels that it bleached out a well worn pair of swim shorts. Breakfast was on par with prison food (and that could be an understatement). Trust the bad reviews, not the good. The owners and the Mackinaw City Chamber of Tourism should be embarrassed and ashamed. I'm embarrassed to say that this is how a hotel in my home state treats it's customers. If I could rate below 1 star, I would. Overall experience was bad enough for us to conclude that we'll probably never return.

Great perks at other hotels, including water parks. Great location and the beach front rooms have incredible views. The room was clean and comfortable. Breakfast was great!

Room was nice. Front desk staff was terrible. The desk attendants have no place in hospitality. They are better at finding a way to tell you "no" or express that they don't care, than they are at almost ANYTHING hospitality related. If this staff behavior existed in a competitive environment, where most hotels don't sell out all the time, the hotel would be out of business. Conversely, with the nice rooms and generally well kept property, a well trained staff could turn this place into a nice destination, and they could probably command rates 20-30% higher. Would not return.

My boyfriend and I stayed here 2 weeks ago over the weekend. Beautiful waterfront walkout room. Staff was friendly. Room was clean especially that bathroom and Jacuzzi. They were very accommodating to our late check out with out any hassle. We will definitely be going back!

My family and I arrived early. The women at the front desk greeted us in a rude manner, "check in is at 4, your room is not ready. " Came back at 4 got the key and found the room was filthy. The bed's sheets and comforter looked like they were slept in, the bed sheets, bed skirts & pillow cases had holes and stains on them. The bathroom was disgusting, it had dried up blood on the wall, urine and old hair on the toilet. My husband went to the front desk and asked to speak to the manager. He explained the situation. The man at the front desk said, he will leave a note for house cleaning. The next day we left for the island at 8:30 am, we came back to our room at 4:30. It wasn't cleaned, everything was the way it was when we arrived. My husband went down to the front desk and explained the situation. The man at the front desk said the room had been cleaned. I decided to go to the front desk with my husband and show them the pictures I had taken of the disgusting room. The front desk man became enraged, yelling at me and acting very aggressive. I was in tears. Another well mannered employee came over and said he would send the cleaning crew to our room. We were suppose to stay the week, we asked to check out the next morning. The helpful guy said no problem, the other confrontational man went off even more. He was yelling that we have to pay for the next day too. We asked to speak to the manager and we were told that they don't have one on site. They gave us his card.

So I booked a king size/lake front view for June 24-27. The day I was supposed to arrive at the Hamilton Inn (06/24/17) I was running late for check in so I called the hotel to tell them. The supervisor, Heather said said it was no problem that I was arriving late b/c the room is paid for and that they have 24/7 staff. I arrived at midnight after traveling for 6 hours from Bowling Green, Ohio. I checked in and the clerk gave us the room key. We go to get our things and open the door to the room to find it totally in a mess as if someone just literally left out our room. The bed's sheets and comforter was at a disarray; the jacuzzi was dirty, the mirrors were dirty; there were dirty wet towels and rags on the floor, in the sink, and in the shower; there were opened shampoo bottles; and the light and fan to the bathroom was on; it was an empty chocolate milk jug on the night stand; an empty grocery bag on the shelf. I immediately called the front desk thru the room's phone. The guy at the front desk said "What's up Brenda? " I was very confused because my name is not Brenda. I tell him this isn't Brenda but this is the lady that just checked in and that the room is filthy and that he should come and see. He comes down and says "oh my God". Let me see what I can do. Minutes later two men come into the room and said they were told to come clean the room. And they were maintenance men who were about to get off work.

Very nice hotel. Spacious rooms, balcony, whirlpool tub and separate shower. Decent breakfast included with room. We've only been here less than 24 hours but so far we love it!

The location itself is great! Near the beach side and port. Most interesting aspect is how much pokemon I caught there! The room is perfect, I sat by the balcony and Pokemon's just kept spawning there. I got myself a dratini! Seadra, and some common ones. Eevee's spawning everywhere to a point where I evolved one into jolteon with almost 500 cp! It was a great room and service.

We had a very good experience here this weekend. After reading reviews, after we booked a few months ago, we got mixed feelings about staying here. As far as hotels go, our room was clean, shower water pressure is low (but that's typical in most hotels), the beach and pool are nice, staff seemed nice, rates were good for what you get. Room worked well for my hubby and I and our 7mo baby. We did disliked that housekeeping didn't get to our room till after 3pm. Breakfast seemed chautic but it was good. Halls and neighbors were quiet at night. Wi-Fi was extremely slow and pretty much did not work but Sprint had ok coverage here. Love that there's a ferry next door and also "main street" with all the shops and restaurants is within walking distance. I'm sure it depends on the season you visit. But we had a great 2 night stay here at the end of June 2016.

The room is clean but smaller than I expected. The water pressure is really really low so don't expect a good shower. The pool is nice, but the hot tube is very over chlorinated. The breakfast bar isn't very good. They use powdered eggs for the scrabbled eggs, and the sausage gravy is very watery. The staff is ok, but some are from other countries and there accents are very thick. Don't expect your room to be fully clean when you return from going out for the day. It seems like they just make the beds. Over all I wouldn't stay at the Hamilton inn select again.

DO NOT WASTE YOUR MONEY! We were having a Bachlorette party on Mackinaw Island and then the bridal party was staying at this hotel. I called and reserved my room and even called that day to let them know I would not be checking in until about 9:00pm because we were going to be on the island all day. They said that was fine, they would make a note and reserve my room. I arrived to check in at 9:20 and they gave my room away and said they were booked. So I had to find another hotel (the Best Western which was 2 doors down and much nicer) but was separated from my Bridal party which was extremely upsetting. I was very happy at the Best Western which was a much nicer hotel. The Hamilton Inn was dirty and ruin down and the staff was rude and unhelpful.

Room service was decent. Room was great. Breakfast OK. Wi-Fi very poor.

The first time I went to Mackinaw City, I almost didn't book at the Hamilton because I read all kinds of terrible reviews about it. I am SO glad I didn't listen to them and booked anyway. The place is wonderful if your purpose is to focus on a nice vacation as opposed to finding something to complain about. I've stayed at this hotel 3 times, and I've never been disappointed in its cleanliness or hospitality. If you want a real treat, book a lakefront balcony room — — the view is breathtaking! I've stayed at most of the hotels in Mackinaw City, and this hotel is definitely one of the best — — if not the best. Another big plus is the elevator, which really comes in handy if stairs are not your thing. Be forewarned — — a lot of other hotels in Mackinaw City do NOT have an elevator. So that may be something to consider. The location is also excellent — — within walking distance of just about everything. Yes, one can always find something to gripe about. But if you're a normal, non-high-maintenance type person, you'll be very pleased.

My wife and I stay here on New Year's, we had also stayed here about 5 years ago, which then we enjoyed. However five years have really changed this hotel, we're very disappointed! my wife goes into the bathroom she steps on broken glass that was all over the bathroom floor, which clearly was not cleaned, the shower was full of black long hair!, which my wife is blonde. The bathtub / jacuzzi was beyond disgusting, I think the health department should take a look at that and seriously surprise them with an inspection. She turned on the Jets and black mold came out! too bad this used to be a nice place! and regarding some of the staff being rude not friendly and did absolutely nothing to solve the cleanliness of the room. It was clear to both of us that these employees are not from the area or even from the state. You can clearly see they had no vested interest in this hotel or the beautiful and historical city they worked in, it was just a job they were able to fine. To bad a little pride could go along way!, My wife had me drive to a Walmart about a half-hour way to buy cleaning products to clean the room before she would use that bathroom. That's pretty bad after paying over $200 for one night stay. The sad part about this I don't believe the hotel management really cares, they know they can fill these rooms, because of the area, so if you decide to stay here you may want to throw a little cleaner/bleach and rags in your car on your way to this beautiful part of Michigan.

We have stayed at this hotel several times and I have never had one issue with his hotel the staff or anything. We visit Mackinaw at least 4 to 5 times a year and we always stay in this hotel probably one of the best hotels that they have up there. It's one of the only hotels that are open during the winter and it still is packed every time we go up there I will continue to give this hotel by business as we have our wedding planned in Mackinaw City and we are all staying there.

The scam alert is real, people. As real as it gets. *** The method of luring us to the room I found deplorable. I booked the hotel with the indoor water park, the Bridge Vista Beach Hotel & Convention Center, the site took my reservation, and I left my home for Mackinaw City. An hour into my trip, I get a phone call that the hotel I booked was closed and they needed to switch my reservation to the Hamilton. Half of the purpose of the trip was to scout the indoor water park for my children, which did not happen. The person who called me spoke very broken English, so there was no way to communicate with any ease whatsoever — incredibly difficult, I believe on purpose. Do you just look at your wife and tell her, "Oh, by the way, the room I just booked for us online isn't really real. " Is that what you would do, or do you continue on with your wife to your vacation destination of the past 15 years for her and past 45 years for me? Sleazy, slimy, and less-than-desirable is how I would describe this marketing method. The room was fine. The girl at the front desk said we would have a "seven step" flight of steps up to our room from the third floor to the fourth floor, where the elevator stops. Not "seven. " Nineteen steps — and I'm 6-foot-4 — up the stairwell to the fourth floor, carrying the cooler along the way (why? there's no elevator to the top floor, that's why! ).

BEWARE OF THE MACKINAW CHAMBER OF TOURISM! It's nothing but a corporation which owns most of the hotels in the area. You think you are booking a room in one hotel, and then an hour before you check in they will call you and inform you you'll be staying at a different location, with different amenities. They will provide you with the same amenities you were promised, you just have to drive to different hotels to use them. Driving to another hotel for breakfast kinda sucks. And you'll get nothing but attitude when you complain about it. These people are just scam artists, who seem to be supported by the actual Mackinaw city chamber of commerce. It's all about the tourism money, and that's pure Michigan.

I don't understand all of the bad reviews! My boyfriend and I stayed here for a weekend in September of 2015, and everything was perfect. The staff at the front desk was very nice and polite, we were even offered an upgrade for only $15 more a night (we initially opted out of a jacuzzi tub to save money, but the upgrade we were offered had one, plus an extra bedroom, which we did not even use) and I'm so glad we did! The hotel is in such a convenient location, we were able to hang out at the bars at night and walk home in less than five minutes, then enjoy the night with a soak in the jaccuzi. Not to mention we also had a beachfront view. The room was very clean, and the tub was cleaned daily while we were out. I have nothing bad to say about this hotel, or the staff. We will definitely be staying here again on our next trip!

Service was great at first. Anything we have asked for we have had someone to help immediately. They are very accommodating. We got an amazing deal with a lake view room. The food at the continental breakfast is good but not amazing. And the pool area was great. My main issue is the cleanliness. It hasn't been anything major but we did find a half gallon of milk that was half drank in our room refrigerator. On top of that I've found quite a few obvious places that haven't seen a duster in quite some time. Our shower had some pretty serious issues. The faucet area was coming out of the wall. My best friend had taken a bath with her 5 month old and when she grabbed onto the handicap bar to get up it came out of the wall and she almost fell and could have seriously injured herself and the baby. When it came out of the wall so did a bunch of rust and other disgusting stuff. When we told the front desk at checkout they said "well accidents happen" and nothing else. She has called corporate and they will supposedly be calling her back after they speak with the manager (who was supposedly not available to speak to her when we reported the problem). The girl just didn't seem to care at all. They are so lucky nothing more serious happened. Overall it's not a terrible place but I can't imagine paying what I'm sure is am outrageous price during their busy season.

My husband and I are now (thankfully) leaving this horrible hotel from our honeymoon. We had a 2 night stay in which we received a gross amount of attitude from the front desk staff, a moldy smelling room, and a broken jacuzzi that never got fixed. The room smelled heavily of mold when walking in and upon further exploration we discovered it was the hot tub that smelled as though it hadn't been cleaned in months, complete with large black splotches on the grout. After trying the first night around 9pm to get the jacuzzi to work, we called the front desk to see when they could come fix it. The woman at the front desk was annoyed and said she would send maintenance out to fix it. When my husband asked how long that would take, she nearly yelled in the phone and said "Well I don't know, I have to call them first! " it was late so we said please send someone tomorrow instead and she all but hung up on him. Fast forward to check out this morning, my husband checked out and asked the front desk staff if there was some discount we could get for our jacuzzi not working as we'd paid in full in advance. The rude ladies told him that since we never gave them a chance to fix the jacuzzi (we asked them to send someone the next day and they never did), she wouldn't do anything for him. I really don't mind not getting something off of our room, but I do mind being lied to and being given an attitude.

A big thanks to Rick for all his kindness and help for finding us a room! And to the staff (Michelle & Jodi) for being so sweet and friendly I loved staying at this hotel, the rooms are clean and everyone was always helpful. Their beach is beautiful and has an amazing view. I highly recommend this hotel to everyone. Thanks again to Rick for leading us there since his property was full.

The hotel was clean was in a great location. The staff was friendly and informative. We will definitely stay here again. My wife and my kids loved the breakfast and it was nice to have discounts for ferry lines.

Place is horrible. Went up their for a nice family vacation with my family and my fiance' and I honestly think a rock could have done a better job. The staff was SO SO SO RUDE! For $256.00 a night, I thought they could treat people better. They also use a bait and switch method. We reserved a bay side room, got conformation and when we got there they didn't have any available. Was offered nothing except "I can call some hotels in the area to see if they have anything available". Stay away!

We stayed here for our honeymoon and had a great time. We wanted to stay on Mackinac Island, but it was too expensive. We found the Hamilton and stayed for a week. The rooms were large and clean, and the staff was wonderful. One of the staff even got us a free bottle of champagne for one of the nights. We had a room on the beach with a whirlpool!

I am currently staying here with my family and the hotel is OK. It's not bad but it's also not great either. Just in between. The room is fairly clean and so are the hallways. The staff is not friendly at all. They are all rather rude. Not so much the front desk concierge, but the breakfast people. The breakfast is not so great at all. The eggs we're spongey and had very weird taste. The Orange juice tasted awful and so did the apple juice. Only thing I would recommend is a bagel… can never go wrong with that! The balcony view is nice, but it's SO small and there are spiders everywhere. The concrete isn't even smooth so your feet hurt when you walk out. The water at the beach is VERY clean, but the sand? GROSS! The shower floor is dirty and in my opinion I believe it should be replaced. We have a two bedroom suite and the king bedroom has an air conditioner but the queen sized bedroom does not. The air flow is ridiculous and it was beyond hot in that room. Like I said, it's not bad but it's also not great so I'm not too sure if I would ever stay here again. I probably would try somewhere else.

Honeymooners beware! My wife and I stayed there this past week and it was beyond disgusting. We reserved the king suite with a Jacuzzi and a water view room. $250 First of all the comforter smelled like urine. The A/C unit when on smelled like mold. (Coils need to be cleaned). Then to top it off someone above us flooded there bathroom and it leaked into our bathroom. Maintenance came at 11pm to see what was going on. They couldn't do anything about it. So they cut a hole in the drywall and let it drain into the toilet all night. Winners! Needless to say we received no compensation for our troubles. We can honestly say that we will never be back there. Also the breakfast sucks!

We stayed there this past weekend, and it was great. Every person at the desk was very nice and so were the housekeepers. The rooms were immaculate and the beach and lake water were clean and refreshing. We have been here 3 years in a row, and will continue to come back.

BEWARE! This is the worst hotel encounter I have ever experienced, witnessed or heard of. The people that work here are incredibly rude and discriminated us based on our color (white). We made a reservation for a lake view room and received not only an order number but an email confirming our reservation. When we showed up with our in-laws, a hotel staff lady (Karen or Karin, African American, short curly hair and somewhat of a lazy eye) behind the front desk said they had no record of reservation… (Okay, fine. Tell me how to make it better. What can we do to fix this.

BEWARE! They treated my family so bad basically for early arrival and late check out. After being scolded for our early arrival, the next day they called early to get us out. Around 10:30am, I got called from a Jodi at the front desk asking was I going to stay another night. I informed her that we were checking out at 12. She instantly changed her tone and questioned who gave me permission. After, being informed that it was a man, she backed off. At about 11:50, Jodi came to the room causing a big scene stating that we needed to leave so they could clean the room for other guests. After leaving a little past 12, I got a call from Jodi stating that we had trashed and damaged the room before hanging up on me. She next rudely hung up on my wife when she tried to discuss the matter. I decided to go back across the bridge to figure the situation out. Next, I got a call next from a man that said he was the manager speaking to me so rudely and demanding "what are you going to do about the damage! " I responded that I will be back in 5 minutes. After I came in with my wife, he showed me a cabinet door that had popped loose from a hinge which was now at the front desk and a plastic tray for the ice bucket which he stated that we damaged. I informed him that it was not done intentionally and that it can happen with normal wear and tear. He stated that the item has been in the room for years with no problems and that we would have to pay.

Check in was short, sweet and easy after a long day of driving. The gentleman behind the desk, I believe his name was Rick, was very polite, professional and full of helpful information. The room we stayed in was beautiful, clean and had a fantastic view of Mackinac Island. I'd definitely stay here again and recommend it to anyone.

I stayed at this location last summer for a weekend and it was a great experience. Rick at the front desk was great and I will definitely be returning again this summer. :).

Just got home from a vacation here this past weekend. Upon arriving you are greeted to a nice looking hotel with a very spacious parking lot. Walking into the front lobby is no different as it is very nice and has a classic feeling. The front desk staff was very helpful in all of our needs, was polite from the time of check-in to check-out and came off as very friendly. When I had reserved the room, I reserved a single queen bed room not facing the water, but received a double queen bed room. No extra charge, so could've just been hotel error, however this wasn't an issue at all as its always nice to use the extra bed to put things on, etc. The room upon entering was very clean, smelled fresh (as did the whole hotel), and was very spacious for myself and girlfriend. Bathroom was just as clean as the room. The beds are firm, so if you are a fan of firmer mattresses, you will enjoy these beds. However I am not, but the bed was still comfortable enough to get a full nights sleep. We took advantage of the included breakfast just once, and it was good. The choices that morning were mixed fruit, scrambled eggs, sausage, assorted breakfast breads, waffles and juice. The extras of the hotel were nice, workout room was clean as well as the pool. The pool also offered plenty of room (we shared the pool with other hotel guests and didn't even seem to notice they were there) and was warm!

“I was so looking forward to our evening here prior to the 2014-15 New Year’s Eve celebration we had planned in the UP. Then I took ill, my 101 year old mother-in-law was taken to emergency the night before we were to stay and kept overnight. My wife then got sick from who know what she contracted in the hospital waiting room. Anyway, when I called over 24 hours in advance to cancel our reservation. I could tell by the way the phone was answered that this wasn't going to be a pleasant experience and it got worse. I proceeded to explain the fact that my 101 yr. Old mother-in-law was in the hospital and that of the two rooms I had reserved, I was only going to need to keep one for my sister who was still planning on staying. I was told by the person on the phone that it was past the 72 hrs. Required, but she would check with Mgr. When she returned to the phone and told me that we would be charged for the room whether we stayed there or not I was very disappointed. I thought that with it being the Christmas season and our unfortunate circumstances certainly they would waive their policy. Where is the spirit of Christmas? It's certainly not at the Hamilton Inn Beachfront in Mackinac City. I never had to stay there to have a bad experience. ” When I called back a few minutes later and spoke with the same person, she seemed “put out” that I had asked to have a receipt mailed to me. I still to this date have not received that receipt.

Me and my wife stayed at the Hamilton Inn Select and we really enjoyed our room. The room was new and had a whirl-pool. The staff said that this property was just renovated and we were given an off-season rate for the suite. Thank you front desk staff. I guess everything is more reasonable priced during the off-season. Across the road there is a restaurant called the lighthouse and we also enjoyed the food and the convenience. We also had a hot breakfast available each morning including waffles, juice, milk, cereal, eggs, sausages, and many other items. For a small fee, we were able to use the tanning booth which was available in the recreational room and fitness center. We needed to print off some important documents so the business center was extremely useful, and the desk even let us use the fax machine. Compliments to the owners and management, this property is well-maintained and equipped with the tools to help make a business traveler feel comfortable.

This Place is clean and very nice. My family really enjoyed our stay. The front desk staff was very helpful with things to do and see. They also recommended two great places to eat Nona Lisa's and the Dixie Saloon they were great. We will be back! Thanks Hamilton.

I was a bit worried after reading some of the reviews about this hotel but boy am I glad I still booked the room. The parking lot had plenty of room (Granted we went in the off season) We booked the King size room with the jacuzzi tub and lake view. The view itself was well worth the money, we looked right out onto the beach and the water and nothing obstructed the gorgeous sunrises. The bed was comfortable and we had no issues with our jacuzzi. The room was very clean and they honored our do not disturb sign for the 2 days and 2 nights we stayed. The front desk staff wasn't overly friendly but they were not rude to us either and answered all of our questions. The hotel is perfectly situated to be within walking distance of everything! All in all I have no complaints and we enjoyed our stay.

Booked our room online for a decent rate. Upgraded when we got to the hotel becuase the staff said tne room would be ready earlier. Surprise we didn't get into our room until after five. It was a jacuzzi suite with a beach front walk out. The walk out was more of a jump down as it was about 3 feet to the ground. But the view was great day and night. Non existent Wi-Fi except right next to the door. Front desk staff was more concerned with talking to each other than in talking with us answering questions or being helpful. Plenty of towels for showering but only if you liked a luke warm shower. No air in the front room. Dirty walls in the bathroom. The hallways smell like sweaty people. The towels in the pool area were not picked up during our stay. The same dirty towels left on the same tables. Pool was very large. Hot tub was warm and if you could get past the clupms of hair and dirt on the surface I suppose it would be fun. Called the front desk a couple of times about the issues and nothing was ever done about it.
