Nice hotel, remodeled inside. Outside needs some work. Would stay again.

Under construction and very grumpy staff! Front desk person was busy texting someone and no Holiday smiles at this property. I have stayed at hundreds of Holiday Inn nights and 95 percent of my reviews are positive but this place was one of the worst I've stayed at. Even the breakfast was missing items and stale. Breakfast person was not the usual Happy good morning person… very disappointed! The room air conditioner leaked water all over the floor and the whole room smelled like mold.

So the hotel is in the middle of a large-scale renovation. And despite what they tell you, it is absolutely in your way the entire time. This means an awkward transition with luggage from front desk to elevator. This means no pool or fitness facilities. All well within the scope of the expected. What I am less forgiving about is a) the final product of this renovation is going to be rooms that are not suited to business travellers, and b) the front desk staff seems genuinely confused about what their role is and how they should convey an air of professionalism. I don't want some guy eating potato chips while he's attending to me. Likewise, upon checking out, I don't expect the staff to fall at my feet, but I would like the courtesy of being asked how my stay was. I don't know. This may all be ironed out in the future, but I think that if I had to stay in the area again I would most likely try for something in Paducah.

It's currently undergoing major renovations, but they are doing a pretty good job at keeping everything nice and clean. Rooms and beds are comfortable. Breakfast is decent, and there are plenty of options around for lunch or dinner. The pool is currently closed, though.

Great location. Going through a remodel but very accommodating to their guest. Staff was excellent. Rooms were VERY nice and updated. Breakfast was great and attendant very enthusiastic about her service to you.

When we went last year they were remodeling so we let it go when the bathroom door wouldn’t latch. That year we went with our grandkids and they enjoyed the pancake maker and the pool so, when booking for the Superman Celebration we booked two adjoining rooms. What a severe disappointment. We got there, 5 kids having driven for over 5 hours, to be treated with the news that one of the rooms had a TV that wasn’t working reliably and they had no idea why since both had already been renovated. He offered us two other rooms, not adjoining and not on the same floor! We were so tired and there was no where else to go that had adjoining rooms near so we went ahead and paid for the room. The lobby hall leading to the elevator was a construction zone, with workman sawzawing the workout room wall with the window. Glass shards were flying and they didn’t stop when we went by. A largish glass shard almost hit our daughter. We got upstairs and the rug leading to the rooms had bare spots where the carpet was so worn out we could see the weave underneath. We got to room 302 and 304 only to discover they couldn’t have been renovated because of the shape of the walls, the threaded carpet and the poorly fitting door jams. They had already dinged our card for the room fees and we had no more “extra money” so we had to just “deal with it”. We also found out that one TV didn’t work at all in our room (302) and the other was the one that worked occassionaly.

They were doing construction. So we didn't stay there. The guy was very upfront about it.

Such nice staff! Comfortable beds, amazing pillows and my kids were so thrilled with breakfast! My new go-to hotel for traveling with the whole family!

Wow! Awesome pitstop on our travels. The most spacious hotel rooms we've ever stayed at. Huge free breakfast assortment and very friendly staff. Would definitely revisit. (Recommend taking the 2 mile detour for Superman too! )

Gotta tell you. I found myself stranded in Metropolis for a day. My wife is handicapped and with me, as well as my dog. These folks went out of their way to accommodate us and make our stay safe and trauma free. I will never forget that. You gotta stop here!

Clean, inexpensive hotel just off interstate. Exceptionally friendly staff and a good complementary breakfast selection. Kryptonite not included.

It's a well run hotel. Everything was as expected, and the staff were hospitable and on top of things.

This is a very nice HIE and is very well kept. They are pet friendly, which is a life saver for our family. (Note, daily construction and remodeling planned beginning Feb 15, 2018, so don't plan an afternoon nap :-) The office staff was very friendly and helpful. The breakfast lady was sweet and accommodating in every way possible. I would definitely recommend this hotel to others.

Friendly, welcoming staff. The place is under renovations, but it didn't interfere with our stay.

Currently under construction. Breakfast facilities seemed unfresh except for the instant pancakes. Good sleep and TV though.

Quick Friendly service, great water pressure for shower, overall clean and comfy room. The downside was that even with blackout curtains, the extremely bright lights outside still illuminated the room. The air conditioner was extremely slow in cooling the room from the set temp of 75 to 68.

The pool was great and the room was clean, quiet and comfortable. The only downside was the a/c didnt work very well.

Pet friendly hotel. They gave us a room right next to an exterior for so we could take the dog out easily. The room was very nice, clean and spacious.

Our stay was recently, during their renovation. We asked to look at our assigned room to decide if we wanted to stay. The polite young gentleman, Alinson, took us up and showed us our room and assured us we would be completely satisfied. He was very correct and our stay was Great. First impressions are very important, and he was very professional and kind to us. Alinson is a top notch employee and a dedicated representative who made us feel comfortable staying there!

Renovation in progress. Hot and dusty, but that's to be expected. Otherwise it's a typically good HI Express. Great breakfast! Minor room charge issue, but it was not a local problem.

We've stayed here three times in the past two years. They've recently updated the lobby and rooms. Excellent free breakfast choices and the staff are personable and helpful. And — it's Superman's hometown. Fun place to visit.

Place is under construction, but still VERY clean and quiet. It is an Express breakfast in the morning… they do have eggs and such but it's more like quick microwaved ones… u can make your own pancakes but that is about the only "homemade" item. There isn't many close restaurants to order take out from… your best bet would be to cross the bridge into Paducah and get some good eats there… but other than that very friendly and helpful staff and also very clean considering they are remodeling!

For Paying $119. For one night you should be getting a decent hotel room. There was problems in the bathroom. Our room phone didn't work. Needs better maintenance and some updates.

Stopped in very late, and still they were all very helpful and attentive. Spotless rooms and bedding. I want one of those pillows! Breakfast was excellent, especially the pancake machine.

The hotel staff was very professional the room was nice neat and clean and the morning breakfast was a plus.

Decent. Clean enough, but showing a little wear and tear. Get a top floor room, as you can hear the floor creaking above. Breakfast was good.

Not much to say, bed, shower, TV, Kuerig, breakfast after 11 hours of driving what else does one need?

The pull out couch was really uncomfortable. Otherwise, it was fine.

Terrible experience. We reserved 4 months in advance. When we arrived after a full day of driving with a child the manager informed us with a smug smile that since we booked using hotwire and saved money, the tradeoff is that we get the smoking room. He knew before even starting to talk to me that he was putting me in the least desirable room in the hotel, and in the same breath suggested I take it up with hotwire. Thankfully they refunded my money but I was left to make a reservation elsewhere on arrival night. Disgusting behavior, very calculated (the hotel looked empty, there was no way other rooms weren't available). Treating guests badly because they booked via a service instead of directly, and letting them know this? I'm amazed hotwire is willing to work with this hotel, and frankly, it will be a long time before I'm willing to use hotwire again because of this experience. But the manager of this hotel takes the cake for calculated customer anti-care behavior.

Great place to stay if you want to get away for some peace of mind. Staff is very friendly and helpful. Rooms are nice and clean. Fantastic hot breakfast included too.

Terrible. The workout room and pool are a joke. They are surrounded by large windows shared with the lobby, so absolutely no privacy. They workout room has a treadmill, elliptical, and stair machine in a confined area. The worst part of this hotel is the internet. If you plan on using internet, get ready to spend an hour on load times. It's like using dial up. Just awful. The 3g on my phone is 10 times faster. The crappy internet alone is enough to make me never stay here again.

When you have enough money on your card to pay for the room and the holiday inn express has to put a 15 percent UP Charge on your card to make sure you don't take anything and your card doesn't go through that to me is just not right.
