We came to get food at their outdoor restaurant. The food was good and we enjoyed the environment. Our family often goes there when we are in town. I stay away from their flat bread dishes as they have tasted bland, but all other menu items I have enjoyed. If you like conversation and a convenient place to eat on the lake then this is a great place as service is good and the place is clean, but try somewhere different if you want more interesting food.

Wonderful place for reunions, work related retreats, weddings, etc. I attended a 3 day work training event here. The views are amazing, hotel rooms are elegant and wonderfully decorated, staff is very friendly, and food was really good. I would love to come back again!

Loved my stay. SO nice! Friendly people. Do have to drive if you want to eat other than the limited hours on site. No one tells you about your free breakfast… so ask!

Awesome place, great staff, all friendly and helpful. Beautiful grounds to walk. Rooms with great views of the lake. We had a queen room 1 St floor with lake view. Great on site restaurant and bar. Full service salon and gift shop. Will come back again.

Oakwood resort is a very nice place. Lovely setting. Nice rooms. Big beds nice bathrooms with big shower tubs. The have soap, body wash, and conditioner in pump bottles. Beach is small. Lots to do In area and on Lake Wasasee. A relaxing place to stay.

Great place with great views of the water. Good food at restaurant/bar. Very accommodating hotel with great staff. I would rate housekeeping at a two or three star. We were in the presidential suite and the toilet/shower combo was a little odd. Need more outside seating to accommodate guests (so if you want to sit outside bring your own chair).

Jay and I had an opportunity to visit and stay at the Oakwood Resort as part of our pre-conference trip with the Outdoor Writers Association of America. The management and staff could not have been nicer and the historic Inn was beautiful. Thank you for a wonderful evening.

The last time I stayed here was in 2007 before it closed for five years. The hotel today is vibrant and bright and really quite lovely. Made me think of an East Coast beach resort on a lake in Indiana. Be sure to take the complimentary boat ride in the evening.

Lovely resort right on the water. The scenery is lovely. The beds are soft. Would have liked a desk in my room but I doubt many people are doing work here.

Beautiful lake view, very nice staff. The dining room and band were decent. Very nice fire place in front of the lake and I enjoyed the walk around the hotel.

The resort is very nice. Rooms were wonderful. The lake was crystal clear. A lot of pubs & grubs and fish restaurants nearby. We will return in the future.

It was a nice resort, our room was clean and well maintained. The resort itself is a little off the beaten path but there are signs to get there. We had a nice view of Lake Wawasee, as the resort is right on the shore. It definitely would have been better if we went in the summer as they have swimming as well as kayak rental and a tour boat that takes you on a tour of the lake. There is a chapel and an event center nearby but we didn't really frequent those. Dogs are allowed for an extra $25. There is a small library in the lobby, and a game room with some decent games but most of them were broken and out of order. The restaurant on site was good, both my fiancée and I had BBQ burgers that were excellent albeit a bit messy, however the service was a little lacking despite the amount of servers on deck that night. Overall we had a nice little getaway there, it's definitely good for a few nights away from everything.

Beautiful place to stay. Wonderful staff. Super comfortable beds. Only down side is you can here everything taking place in the rooms beside you. Will definitely be a place we will return too in the future.

Really enjoyed my stay here! We stayed to visit my girlfriend at the time. Our room had a really nice view and everything was clean and the beds were comfortable. Would definitely recommend and I’d definitely stay here again!

Attended for a corporate event in the Conference Center. Facility was perfect and the staff were attentive and courteous. Overall, a great experience and a perfect choice of venue for our event.

Husband and I had a wonderful stay last weekend. The winter landscape was beautiful. Very clean and comfortable. Good food also.

Rooms are great. Restaurant had super low cost specials that were amazing. Was there in the winter, so it was slow.

Love going here! Nice decor and very clean. Friendly staff. Their restaurant is wonderful — terrific food and staff. A unique menu selections. Had a few issues this time (not with food) but the manager was very apologetic and more than made things right for us. Very thankful. Always look forward to going back!

Got to the resort on Sunday afternoon ready to watch playoff football and have an adult beverage only to be told the restaurant and bar closed at 4 o'clock. When I got up the next morning to take a shower I discovered I had no hot water in my shower. I called the front desk and was promised they would have someone look at it. So I had a sponge bath that morning. The same the next morning with no change. I went to the front desk and complained about the lack of repairs. They upgraded me to a suite. Moved to the new room only to find out the heat just barely works. I put the thermostat at 72 degrees around 5 o'clock in the afternoon. When I got up the next morning, the temperature was only up to 69 degrees. When I first got to the new room, it was a chilly 65 in the room. Also the Jacuzzi hot tub doesn't work. For the price of this resort, I was very disappointed. The setting is beautiful, Just don't expect much. The people at the front desk acted like they could care less about my situation. I won't be coming back.

We went two days after Christmas. It was cold, but with all of the snow, Oakwood was gorgeous! A plus… we all but had the place to ourselves. The service was fast, it was impeccably clean, decorated beautifully for Christmas and was very inviting. Our room was beautiful and clean. Breakfast, while not a huge variety, was plentiful and good. For us, this was a five star stay. We would absolutely return.

Attended company Christmas party at the Resort. Staff was attentive and very professional. The food served was amazing. Everything was clean and decorations were beautiful.

Very nice resort on a beautiful lake. Rooms were a little pricey, but we enjoyed our stay. Just beware of the cell reception, because there's basically none.

We sat outside overlooking the lake on a perfect afternoon. The waiter who tended our table was helpful and attentive. The menu had plenty of options that all sounded excellent. One of us ordered a burger, another the seared tuna tacos, and a third and myself ordered the jumbalaya. It was a generous portion and absolutely delicious (and nicely on the spicy side). We didn't order any drinks as it was a work lunch, but the atmosphere, service, and food could accommodate about any occasion. Highly recommended.

Upon arrival, we were taken aback by how beautiful this place was. Check in was such a pleasant experience because the staff was beyond friendly. Once we got to our room, we were amazed at how tastefully done and clean it was. I have to mention the bed as well… SOOO comfy! The fire pits (wood provided) were such a nice touch, the views were spectacular and the food at the restaurant was beyond amazing! We were sad to leave and seriously considered just moving in.

My husband and I went to Oakwood for a wedding, reception, and then took spend the night. The wedding and reception were beautiful. The room was brightly painted, with four poster beds that were comfortable. We went to the restaurant for lunch when we got there and breakfast the following morning. The food was quite good, especially the breakfast buffet with an omelet, crepe, and pancake station. The only problem we had was the maids woke my husband up early by making a lot of noise in the hall.

We just got married here July 8, 2017. Our experience was amazing! Our room was great (we had a suite). Julia our event planner was amazing. The staff throughout the entire resort is on top of things. All of our guests commented on how great the staff, food and how beautiful it was. The staff at the breakfast buffet was amazing as well. (Buffet is fantastic too). Thank you Oakwood for a Great experience to remember always. We will be back.

Lovely accomadations. Room was up to date, nicely decorated and comfortable. We had a lake view room which had a gorgeous view. My only complaint was that breakfast was lacking and not served on week ends. P. S. The staff was pleasant and helpful.

We stayed here 2 seperate times last year. Staff was awesome. The rooms were very nice. The food at the Pier & Back Porch restaurant was very very good. Overall I would rate it 5 stars. We also rented a boat from "Dane" at Main Channel Marina and received an excellent deal there both trips.

The food was fairly good but the service was not. They were missing a dinner we ordered and they kept bring me different beer from what I ordered until I went to the bar myself to get the correct one. Then they were missing a dessert when they came out. The service we did get wasn't very fast.

Nice facility. Food was good The waiter didn't meet my expectations. I try not to expect too much. But the offering of a cold glass with a beer is very nice, if he would have done that. Being familiar with the menu would be wonderful also. Letting us know what the daily specials were is important to both me and the restaurant facility. Checking back during the course of the meal to see if we need anything like extra water or additional condiments or maybe even silverware would have been nice. Speaking so that a person could understand him versus mumbling to himself is quite important when you're waiting tables. I don't necessarily blame him as much as I blame the training staff for putting someone out there to wait tables, in such a nice place, with such inept abilities and totally untrained. There were three other members of the wait staff working tables who seemrd to be very well trained. They were quality waiters and waitresses. It's just called the luck of the draw. Sometimes you win and sometimes you lose.

Stayed in one of the King Suites — spectacular sunset. Sunrise views over the lake from the room, very generously spaced, beautiful modern fixtures and decor. Giant bathroom with 2 sinks. Free Wi-Fi required sign-in, but worked well. Continental breakfast was a bit disappointing, but everything else more than compensated.

My family stayed at the Oakwood Resort in August. The hotel staff was very friendly and the service was excellent. Our room was surprisingly large and very clean. We plan to stay here again on our next trip.

The staff were amazing, very helpful, friendly, extremely courteous. Especially Jordan. He goes out of his way to accommodate every request. He made us feel at home. The hotel is just gorgeous, a hidden gem. The lake view is beautiful.

My experience would have been a five star, but Oakwood Resort fell short on several important areas that every business should be excellent in. To begin, It took me four attempts to contact anybody at the front desk to make a reservation. I left a message three times, and no one called back. On the fourth try, finally was able to make a reservation. I did mention my problem in getting a hold of them, but got a oh sorry. My reservation was meant to be special, a romantic package with wine, fruit, truffles waiting for us when we arrived at our room. Plus a dinner certificate to be used that evening. We did not have anything waiting for us. Had to ask the front desk about it, they seemed clueless, they went to get the manager, and he had to gather all the elements and bring them to our room while we waited. Awkward, and the feeling of a "special romantic night" bit the dust! But the best part of our stay was the food! Their Chef is simply Awesome! Our room was nice, a lot of white in the decor though. We would like to go back, but hope we have a better beginning.

I have visited the Oakwood Resort on multiple occasions during 2014 and 2015 with all positive experiences. The Pier and Back Porch is a great restaurant with beautiful views and good food. The Hilltop Banquet Hall is a perfect venue for conferences and weddings. Staff were always helpful and friendly.

Jeremiah Heierman has been so helpful getting us timely information on having our organizations weekday retreat at Oakwood Resort. We are just so impressed with how much Jeremiah cares about us and our organizations event. If your company needs a venue for a company or non-profit event call and ask for Jeremiah Heierman by name.

Very impressed! Went on Valentine's Day for the weekend special! dinner was extraordinary, ambiance perfect, and room comfortable! We enjoyed a massage that was very well done and the lake view (though icy and cold) was stunning! We'll be back when it warms up.

We had the pleasure of staying at The Oakwood Resort and I truly must say that I was extremely impressed with the courteousness of the staff and the cleanliness of the room and resort. We also had lunch in the restaurant and if the lunch was anything like dinner is going to be I have just checked into heaven. I would highly recommend that if you haven't been to the Oakwood, please do go and treat yourself and your loved ones to a weekend unrivaled. By hotels I have stayed at here and abroad.

We recently had our company Christmas party at Oakwood Resort. The staff was extremely helpful in coordinating with us for our event. The facility is immaculate. You can tell they take pride in maintaining their resort. Our event was executed perfectly by the Oakwood team. Every team member we came in contact was extremely courteous and made us feel like they were delighted we were their guests. Their hospitality can't be beat. We will definitely return for our future events.

My team and I recently had a retreat at the Oakwood and we LOVED our experience. The facility was elegant with a subtle country charm. The staff was very accommodating, the room was beautiful and the view amazing as it looked out over Lake Wawasee. I HIGHLY recommend the Oakwood.

I'm a little miffed at the staff. Like many others I also had a Groupon but having a situation I was doubtful I could utilize the night I had requested. Not arguing their policy of 48hrs cancellation notice. But I called and asked if I should notify them whether or not I needed to cancel or will they cancel the room without my check-in. Their response: was that I NEEDED to let them know 3PM at the latest. In order for them to re-utilize the room. And while that was a little rude, I never got an answer for a late check-in. I was told 3PM was some sort of cut off. And hey, maybe their staff is just misinformed but now I'm a little pissed and don't even want the room.

We had a Groupon deal that we booked for are 20th wedding anniversary we arrived and checked in and were give directions to are room, shortly after getting situated in the room the front deck person knock on the door with a hand written card and a box of turtles which was very nice, the room was very nice with a view of the park like setting the bed was comfortable with loads of feather pillows and over stuffed pillows, the duel sinks one in the bathroom and one out was a nice touch also. Great lighting nice TV and the kerig coffee machine topped it off. We ate at the restaurant The Pier are first night there were only a handful of guest eating there we had reservations for 7pm and were seated promptly a nice window table with a great view of the lake Service was poor as it took 10 to 15 minute to get are water glasses filled and then discover that it tasted and smelled like stale beer when we finally got are waitress attention and told her she smelled it and apologized repeatedly she replaced are glasses and refilled them with water that was fine (she was not the one who filled them the first time) we ordered drinks that were a little slow getting to us but my wife loved the apple cider drink she ordered are appetizer was the chicken bacon BBQ flat bread that was pretty tasteless other than the BBQ sauce.

My husband and I booked a weekend for our anniversary. I have to say I couldn't be more pleased with the hotel. Housekeeping was great, Front desk was helpful, and the Spa massages were fantastic. However, our experiences dining at The Back Porch and Pier were very lacking. First night our reservation was lost, which they were extremely apologetic about, and got us a table anyway. Second night our service was horrid, unbelievably so. When we drop $75+ for dinner and drinks (for two ppl) I expect to be treated with friendly and attentive service. Not even close! After he brought our meals our waiter never wanted to check on us. I literally had to say "Hey dude" to get his attention, after he passed by us several times without acknowledging us. It was like we had to beg him to bring us drinks. Oh, and then there was a dead gnat in my glass of wine, so that was great, but good luck finding him again after that. We waited an hour from ordering our last drink until he brought us the check. So I'm going to say — — great stay at the hotel, great place, lots of fun. We will be back — — but I will definitely be spending my money for dining and drinking elsewhere.
