For what I paid I was very disappointed! The room was unclean (had a spider roommate — named him John), when asked if I'd like to change rooms they couldnt guarentee that it was clean either so I stayed in mine. The only good was a comfy bed and the location was good for sightseeing and food.

I visited the Tremont the other weekend for the first time with a friend, and was extremely disappointed in the level of customer service I received. I booked my reservation the day of and requested a late check-out time, considering we would be getting in late. The person indicated they would see what they could do, but they can't guarantee that. That's fine. However, the person confirmed they would be able to oblige and I even received a CONFIRMATION email of my late checkout time. I learned the day of checkout, that my checkout time was never updated in the system, and that I would have to pay an additional half-days rate for the employees' mistake. I called several times to speak with the manager, but could never get through to them. This is unacceptable. As a person that travels a lot for business, I have never received such poor customer service in my life. I don't recommend anyone to stay at this establishment, as hospitality is clearly not of importance.

I loved staying here. The room was a decent size and clean. Great location for walking to just about everywhere in down town Chicago. Staff is friendly and helpful. I will definitely be back. That was part of the view from my window.

The attention to detail is pretty poor. The Accommodation is sub standard. Saying that, the bed was comfortable. We had to ask twice to have the door looked at, because it was so stiff, I couldn't get in or out without a huge effort, and making the loudest noise. The room was dusty on arrival and some of the furniture really needed replacing. No free Wi-Fi in the room and the continental type breakfast, that generally comes included with the price of the room, was $13.00. The coffee was free, but unfortunately I don't do dairy, and by day 3, there was still no alternative offered. Such a shame.

What can you not like about the Magnificent Mile? It's Chicago at its best so many hotels to check out and see, so much money to spend, so many cabs to hail, and so many tips to pass out! Bring your money and patience and be prepared for my wonderful time… we switched hotels up and I'm much more prefer the Ritz.

PERFECT LOCATION! Cons: Wasn’t told they would put an extra $100 on hold if damaged room. Being a student I didn’t come with much money to begin with, so that threw my weekend off. They could of just kept a card on file and charged it if anything happens. Honestly room is clean, no complaints there. Tub doesn’t drain, and the water doesn’t get hot.

1) I booked through a site that my company uses for corporate travel. I received a confirmation and receipt for the booking. Upon arriving at the hotel I was informed that they CANCELLED my reservation without notifying me, and that the hotel was fully booked. It was only after an hour of waiting and struggling trying to find an alternative that another guest cancelled and I got the last room they had. 2) After my first night, the hotel accidentally processed an additional charge of over $1000 on my card. When I asked the representative at the front desk she denied that this was the case, despite my bank record with 3 different transactions from the hotel. After speaking to her manager, they were magically able to reverse the charge (that never happened in the first place). 3) The room was decent — very standard. This hotel has gone through a change of ownership and they are scrambling to make it work. Communication seems to be the primary issue. Other guests also struggled: there was always a group of people lined up at the front desk with issues.

We were pleasantly surprised by The Tremont and very satisfied. Every encounter with a staff member was positive and made us feel special. The room was quiet, luxurious and a great refuge from the city.

Didn't have much of a view, just a view into the alley. This was their cheapest room choice to be fair. The bed was comfortable. No mini fridge or microwave. Water got hot really fast so that was nice. Bathroom was clean. Service was friendly and accomadating. Pretty much everything I could ask for besides a mini fridge to keep my leftovers in.

Wonderful service. We had such a nice time. The room was small but nice and clean. They were so helpful on suggesting where to eat and parking even. I will be back!

Depending what room you stay at determines the star rating. Best case I would say a three star worst case down to a one star. The pictures online show the update deluxe king rooms. Let me tell you originally I didn't get no updated room. The toilet I'm sure was from the 70's. Once I complained and was upgraded it wasn't too bad and met a higher standard. Location is fantastic and unless in the lobby the internet is slower than molasses. Overall not my favorite hotel but the location can't be beat.

Always a great place to stay… close to everything including red line to get to other neighborhoods. Only issue is it is May and they have switched to AC so room does not have heat and today is in the 40's outside and my room is 63 degrees… not comfortable. Room 1406 on 5/20/18.

The staff is kind and available to help you. The rooms are quite clean, and the daily breakfast is good enough for the price. The hotel has a lot of character!

Older classic hotel very well located 1/2 block or so fro the Hancock building. Attached to Ditka's restaurant. What could be better?

Nice hotel, pleasant staff and clean. Need minor repairs, maintenance painting is killing the appearance in some areas. Decorated it's a Great place to stay.

Very cool hotel and a great location. Bathroom needed updating in a huge way. Bed was comfortable and staff was excellent.

They upgraded me to the penthouse suite and it was a lovely room with a gorgeous view. I enjoyed the jetted tub and comfy spaces to lounge in. Wish I stayed more than one night!

The rooms were good but the service did not USTA me.

We loved our stay at the Tremont. Deja was at the front desk and seemed to know everything there was too know about Chicago, even to the smallest details. The bed was comfortable. The bath faucet had a thermometer so you could accurately draw a bath. A fine establishment.

The Tremont was nice surprise despite the not so great reviews. The hotel is older and the bathrooms suggest this. The rooms themselves are simple but clean and updated. Also, Ditkas restaurant is onsite so if you want to eat you're covered. Location. Location is where this hotel excels. If you want to be close Magnificent Mile/ Michigan Ave then this will suffice. If you want to be close to shopping and many restaurants and bars/ nightlife the Tremont is a safe bet for a reasonable price. Literally a half block off Michigan Ave and Water Tower Place.

Never again! Made reservation, received my confirmation and when it came time to celebrate the New Year, I was told that they overbooked and I no longer had a room. Obviously confirmations don't mean a thing to this hotel or customer service. I was trying to email and speak with someone at the hotel to see if they could resolve this situation. All they were able to do was give me an apology and nothing more. The apology came from their revenue department. Then it made perfect sense, corporate greed They gave my room to someone who probably paid a little bit more. Thanks Tremont for ruining my corporate celebration. Spent New Year watching pictures of the party on social media.

Excellent location and comfortable rooms.

Once this hotel had gobs of charm (think back to its heyday ending on the 80s) but it is dearly lacking today. Not even sure why Starwood keeps this hotel under its umbrella of inventory. Room was spacious and the bed was quite comfy. Location is tremendously good. Ceiling fans in the rooms are always a treat. Bathroom left gobs to be desired… Leaking sink drain, moldy wallpaper, total disrepair for annupscale hotel. Pro Tip: If this location is $100 less than everyone else, go for it. But if it is equal to other brands, you're just as well at the Hampton Inn or other generic hotel.

Romantic experience SPG class. We celebrate our wedding anniversary at this cozy hotel located in the Chicago gold coast. Our host was very kind, giving us a room with great view. The room was completely renovated with brand new furniture. Thank you, my wife had a great time and I felt like a champ.

The location was great for close by shopping or to eat out. Just walk outside and everything's right there. We got to stay on the 14th floor, and had a nice view of Michigan Ave from one of our windows. Upon check-in the desk staff was very nice and we didn't have any issues. We stayed in a queen single bed and it was just a small room, no frills. Everything was clean and kept up. The bed was pretty comfortable and both of us slept pretty well. We woke up and had the continental breakfast which was okay. I think the only thing they were really lacking was some type of breakfast meat. We would definitely consider staying here again the next time we're in Chicago.

We upgraded to a king size bed in our room. There were doors slamming all night. The alarm at he front door went off for 2 days straight. It needs a remodel. Staff was accommodating and helpful. It is centrally locates so it was easy to get to most places by walking. It’s just a little cheaper than the other hotels in the area. We will most likely not stay there again.

Cute and cozy hotel for those budget friendly travellers. The staff are very nice and friendly. The location is also is the magnificent mile so it competes with the bigger hotels but with a much friendly price.

Com Booked a room on there and they had the best rates around… Perfect location right in the middle of the downtown! You can just walk to most of the tourist locations. Lots of restaurants and shopping outlets in the vicinity. Hotel staff is extremely amicable and polite. They got us a microwave in less than 5 mins on request. They even provided us complementary breakfast for a day as they missed to clean our room. I'm highly satisfied and would love to visit them again!

This hotels in an amazing location easily walkable to many of Chicago's downtown destinations. The rooms are okay meeting base expectations. The lighting in the room could be dramatically improved. While the hotel recently renovated its rooms, the bathroom and shower remain in need of attention. Finally while the hotel has a lack of amenities, it's location makes up for that as you can get almost anything you need within walking distance.

Breakfast was good — scrambled eggs and hash browns, yogurt, bagels, and some kind sweet rolls — but I was surprised by the lack of proteins (ham, bacon, sausage etc). Service was professional and good, but a bit impersonal.

Service was prompt and friendly. Check-in was easy. The room was nice if a little small, but the location can't be best for it's convenience to transit and the city.

Do not stay here! We were given keys to the wrong room, and when we realized this, the staff originally tried to lie about the mix up. We talked to the manager and was told nothing could be done for compensation, but that if we chose to stay here in the future it would be a better stay. We felt unsafe, the staff was rude, and overall, even at a good price, it isn't worth the risk.

The Tremont hotel at Magnificent mile is located next to a number of great shopping and restaurants, a great home base to explore the wonderful city of Chicago. It has a nice sitting area on the first floor, connected to a fabulous steakhouse, and has a tiny gym on the third floor. The hotel staff are very friendly and nice, making the overall stay very hospitable. The rooms are decently sized, but you can tell the bathrooms are very dated. Not a big fan of the bath amenities either, and you can hear conversations in the hallway and fire trucks outside. However, besides that, the rooms have everything else that's needed (as well as a bed very suited to sit up in and work).

Room was a bit small. Definitely had the feel of a 3-star hotel despite its name. There's no in-room dining or gym. Location is great though. I actually found some bugs in my room, which I reported. The hotel manager was very apologetic and upgraded me for the next night. I was told that they would take care of the issue and that it would never happen again. Overall, decent hotel.

Comfortable, but old. The heater was extremely noisy. I asked them to fix it but nothing changed. The location is good with many restaurants and bars nearby. The bed and pillows were amazing.

An old but still clean hotel. Rooms are small but comfortable, but it needs better breakfast options as it only offers a continental. This is offset by the many breakfast restaurants in the area, but that means you have to leave your hotel to eat in the morning if you want something beyond bagels and cereal.

Great location, old building with character, room did not have a fridge or free Wi-Fi, rooms felt dated, but service was good, and again, you can't beat the location. Wi-Fi and included breakfast would make this my permanent Chicago hotel.

The location is fantastic and the price per night is reasonable. However, I was underwhelmed by the size of the room and the lack of hotel amenities, like a gym or swimming pool. The main elevator is quite slow. Overall, I would probably stay here again because of the location-to-price factor.

Great location right downtown within walking distance to lots of cool places. I had a show at the Laugh Factory and was a $8 Uber ride away at night. Important to note that there were two different elevators that ran on different buttons, so sometimes you had to check to see which one was closest to your floor before hitting the button. I stayed on the 14th floor, and everything was quiet. I got a great night sleep in the comfy bed and the hotel staff at the front was very nice. Some places you check in and the zombie employees show no emotion or care. Even as I walked out the front door staring at my phone trying to figure out which way to walk, the valet noticed and offered help. His job was to park cars, but it was a nice representation of the hotel. Usually you have to wave someone down. The iphone 5 compatible stereo next to the bed was a nice treat. I didn't even have to break out my phone charger and was able to play some tunes in the room from my phone. The bed was comfy as always at SPG hotels. Charming hotel. The A/C wall unit was easy to use and kept the room nice and cool during the summer. Would stay here again if I come back to town.

I just had a great stay at the Tremont. Can't beat the neighborhood with most of classic Chicago in walking distance. My room on the Starwood Preferred Guest level was very nice and had a great view of the Fourth Presbyterian Church across the street. Nice details like the charging station next to the bed. And the bed itself was super comfy. All in all a great hotel.

The Tremont Chicago Hotel at Magnificent Mile is ideally located along the infamous Miracle Mile in Chicago. Lot's of cool entertainment, retail, and retail venues to chose from. The management and staff are very friendly and offer up a modern clean hotel ideally situated for business travelers and vacationers alike. I will refer friends, family members, and business associates to The Tremont for many years to come.

I recently stayed at the Tremont for a business stay and had such a fantastic experience I had to share it here. I stayed on the Starwood Preferred Guest Level (if you aren't a Starwood member, correct that immediately), and was completely impressed. The customer service and friendliness of everyone was top-notch, from valet, to front desk, to the attendant at breakfast. Of course, you're in the middle of a big city so space is at a premium, but I had no problem navigating the halls and elevator. When I opened the door to my room, I expected more of the same but was blown away by how large the room is. Full size bathroom, plenty of closet space, large sleeping area and a more than adequate work area were all at my disposal. You want that extra touch? There was a personalized welcome card on the desk, explaining the amenities and pointing out that there were complimentary drinks in the mini-fridge and snacks in the room. Free Wi-Fi was a surprise, as high-end hotels usually want a few bucks for it, and the breakfast in the morning was excellent. Little things like the iphone charger/docking station on the nightstand were a neat little plus and the bed was like sleeping on a cloud. I would have guessed double the price for a night's stay in this hotel after totaling everything up. Oh, and did I mention that Ditka's Steakhouse was on the second floor? I give this property my highest rating, and can't wait to go back.

My colleagues and I stayed at the Tremont Hotel during the ProMat trade show this Spring. The rooms were a nice size, King Suite, and the overall hotel itself was very clean. Though the hotel is historic, it had some great updates that gave it a modern feel. With Starbucks being directly across the street, made it a plus for us. The staff was very friendly, extremely knowledgeable and helpful. I would have given it 5 stars, but the continental breakfast was a little disappointing. I would have liked eggs and sausage — something warm and hearty — rather than just yogurt, fruit, coffee and oatmeal. Besides the breakfast, our overall stay was fantastic. Thank you for the great customer service and the comfy, oversized beds.

I stay at hotels ~130 nights/year, so I was worried with the reviews about this hotel. There must have been recent improvements, because I thought the hotel was great. The lobby is nice place to hang out, no wait for elevators, beds are extremely comfortable, desks are functional, decor is updated, TV has tons of channels, and the staff was very courteous. A few things to note for frequent travelers — there's no club floor, no restaurant/bar in the hotel (lots around the hotel), and no business center. Not sure if there's a fitness room — didn't see one. If you're coming to Chicago and planning to spend your time in the city — this is a great hotel.

A home away from home. Cozy chic hotel with a throwback feel to the 20s Chicago era. No nonsense hotel for no-nonsense people.

Given the hotel's age I can excuse some of the maintenance issues (flaking paint, musty odors), but there are some basic amenities that are just flat out lacking. I fridge in the room would have been nice, but that too I can overlook. However, NO ICE?!? If you're not going to give me a fridge, at least give me ice! That said, the location is pretty unbeatable. Now I know why it was so inexpensive to stay here. However, that will not happen again. The extra money spent on the Westin or Hilton will be well worth it.

It seems like there may have been some teething problems in the transition to Starwood. I stayed there last night and loved it. Management has clearly listened and turned things around. This was one of my top Starwood experiences. I arrived around noon (early I know). The woman at the front desk was very gracious, offered to let me wait in the lobby and even turned down the volume on the music as I had a conference call. When she let me know my room was ready, she had upgraded me to a suite (great to be Platinum). The room was on the top floor and stunning. I felt more like I was in a nice apartment than in a hotel. Although it was a short stay, everyone I interacted with was truly gracious. The hotel was spotless, the location is fantastic.

My wife and I spent a couple of nights here over Thankgiving. I had read some reviews and was a little concerned by the content of some of them, so I reached out to the GM, Christine Wechter, prior to booking the reservation. She graciously answered my questions and provided information as to what renovations were ongoing and about others that are planned. When we arrived, we had been upgraded to a suite, a bottle of wine and a fruit basket was waiting for us, along with handwritten notes from both Christine and the staff. The location was perfect, we had our holiday meal at Ditka's, the bed was extremely comfortable, we never waited for an elevator, all staff were gracious and helpful — — a very relaxing and rejuvenating couple of days. If you like modernism and sizzle, stay at the W. If you prefer character, history, and a place in which to be comfortable away from all of the noise and bustle of everyday life, give the Tremont a try. It is a great old hotel — — and I have a feeling that this place is going to be spectacular once the renovations are complete. You simply won't find a better value in this part of the city.

This is a delayed response to our stay at The Tremont Chicago, but we did enjoy our stay while there. My daughter and I were visiting for a conference and did stay in the room much except for sleep, but atmosphere was comfortable, the Ditka Restaurant ajoining the hotel, and wonderful front counter, maids, and valet were always timely and pleasant. It was much fun and of course Chicago was the typical great city to visit. Oh, what a time it was. Thank You.

The staff went out of their way to make us feel welcomed. From the warm greetings from the entire front desk (who always asked us about our day in the city), to the competent valets and the personal email from the GM regarding a request. The Tremont is a hidden gem in the usually overpriced Magnificent Mile. A special thanks to Alex the bell hop, if you go by titles alone. If you need anything or have a question he is the man. If my business was in Chicago he would definitely be an employee of mine. Again thanks to all Tremont staff for another great time in the Windy city. PS the staff sang happy b-day to me upon check-in and left a signed card from several members of the staff. A little embarrassing at first, but an unbelievable high touch.
