First ever Chicago trip and we love Claridge House. What a great location, nestled in a beautiful neighborhood. Our check in process was super easy, with very professional and kind staff! The only downside was the lack of housekeeping, but they are short staffed so we understood. To accommodate they took the $20 per night fee off of our stay. So glad we found this little gem!

We arrived a bit tired and broken after making the mistake of bringing our car with us. After looking for parking for hours, we arrived and told the front desk our troubles and they gave us a $15 breakfast each day for free. For each of us, so $30. But then it got bad…. Some of my issues are knit picky but for the price we paid…. Very Dirty windows in our room. The Door stop on the bathroom door was so close to the toilet it stubbed your toe every time you tried to get out of the bathroom. There were No towel hooks/rods for hand towels or bath towels. More major issues… We returned to our room after a trip to the aquarium to a horrific Smoke smell in our room. I asked the front desk if they allowed smoking and they do not. We woke up quite late the first morning, but saw that “breakfast” was available until noon. When we arrived to Juniper we were told that breakfast was the available pastries. We just assumed we were to late for the breakfast options shown online. (Remember we have $30 to spend) The next morning I sent my husband down to get us some real breakfast food. (9am) He returned to the room empty handed and said the employee working said they “didn’t feel like making breakfast that morning. ” Ok so what is the point of my $30? I’ll just get 5 lattes? When I told the front desk about these issues they said they would take a daily fee of $23 off my room total. Ummm a fee? For what? Still have no idea.

Just checked in and I’m not sure I’ve had better customer service… hope the rest of the stay is this amazing!

Cozy spot in Old Town near tons of nightlife, food and the beach all within walking distance. Friendly service, beautiful lobby and bar, comfy rooms, nice city views. Would stay again!

Clean the rooms are kind of tight and the fridge is tiny but the staff was friendly and helpful. There's plenty to do and catching the subway or bus is close by. Food and stores within walking distance.

We booked the room for 3 people but I got only 2 towels. Then I call to reception and she said I need to go down and get it at reception counter only.
At night there are insects flying in the room and I inform reception and she offer me to move to the new room but new room is located on lower level. 4 star hotel but no manager on duty and no any service assistant at night.

Good hotel, close to everything. The parking garage next door isn't part of the hotel and they kind of suck but the hotel was excellent.

The staff was always supper helpful. One in particular was our favorite was Hassam; one morning he working alone but his attitude was amazing and warm. Love it❤❤❤❤❤

Loved this place. Walking distance to a lot of places. Great Bar. Great Breakfast. King room was plenty large enough for 2 of us. Very clean. Would definitely go back!

Friendly staff, clean rooms& bathroom.

Stayed two nights here, I would recommend it for location only. No way is this a 4 star hotel. The rooms are terribly small, you can hear everything in the hall and rooms next to you. In addition to that, my window didn’t shut and the AC unit is SO loud. Honestly, I wouldn’t recommend this place and I was very disappointed with the price we paid for what we received.

Beautiful tucked away addition to the Gold Coast community. 165 spacious rooms; and the suites are huge. Great for bridal party, girls weekend, or family weekend (attached double queen next door). They will soon be a dog friendly property. They do have meeting space as well. Right around the corner from the Clark/Divison Red Line Stop. A couple of blocks away from Mag Mile shopping, eating, and nightlife.

I definitely would recommend Claridge House Chicago. Beautiful rooms with a great view. Very helpful staff. Would definitely stay again.

Absolutely loved my room here. My husband and I stayed here for the Fourth of July weekend and had a great time. The bar and restaurant in the hotel was fantastic, and every single employee we met was super friendly and accommodating. The room was very clean and quiet, and I can’t recommend this place enough. Also, Terrance and Shanice are so kind and provided awesome bar service to us. Thank you guys!

It was an okay experience I did not like getting charged a 20$ fee a night for terrible Wi-Fi and cheap water bottles & parking should have been included with stay as well as breakfast everything is over priced on the menu for the hotels restaurant and nasty. Guest service was quick coming but when called and asked for some we needed other then that my experience was fine.

We stayed two nights and loved it! The bartender Bradford was so nice he gave us suggestions on places to eat and places to visit while in Chicago.

Located in a great area with lots of fun bars and restaurants. The hotel itself is very nice and has been updated well given its age. The price was decent as well. We would definitely stay here again!

Recently changed hands. Not as swank as it used to be. Not a bad stay and I would recommend, it's just that it lost its "fun" vibe and took on a bit more… reserved appearance. They really need to get rid of the integrated menu driven TV plan they have. It's a pain to just get to local programming. We all have smartphones these days, I'd be shocked if anyone actually used any of the pay-for-viewing services they offer. Otherwise, room was nice, a bit small, Keurig coffee in room and a very friendly staff. Place seems to integrate well with the neighborhood and the Gold Coast area holds many days of exploration, if that's your thing. Go Saturdays for the farmers market on division street.

Walking by on a very hot (90°+) day, my friend and I remarked at the accordion windows of this hotel—bringing the outside in made us pause, especially when we saw the bar/lounge area. The bar was perpendicular to the window which made it an ideal spot for a drink to cool off. The bartender noticed us and lured us in with his promise to concoct a cocktail worth our while. We settled up at the bar on some comfy stools right next to the window. The bar has some beautiful, large Art Deco lights hanging just above that I marveled at. After looking at the menu, I was trying to think of a slightly sweet but refreshing drink to complement the hot day we were having. The Bees Knees is what you want, suggested the bartender… and it was! Gin, lemon and a few other ingredients (I forgot what they were) made up this perfectly timed drink—and it did help to cool us off. What made this visit especially nice was looking out the window at people walking, and just getting a nice neighborhood-y feel. We only had the one drink, but I plan on going back for the same experience on a future trip to Chicago. BTW—this used to be a Hotel Indigo is now called Claridge House.

I completely enjoyed my two night stay. I was concerned about the renovation going on but after messaging, I was assured the work was complete. Had a small request and I was pleasantly surprised to find it fulfilled upon check in. I was able to have drinks in the lobby bar both nights. The workers were very polite and helpful. I highly recommend the lobster roll. I work in the hotel design industry and consider myself to be a slight hotel snob with high expectations. I have zero complaints and only praise for this newly refreshed property. I hope to visit for fun and not work next time.

WONDERFUL! I can't say enough good things about this hotel. The front desk staff was friendly and helpful. They have been going through a renovation, but it is almost complete and looks amazing, very modern. The rooms are beautiful with plenty of space. It's located on a very quite residential street so you really don't hear any street noise. Great location if you want to be very close to downtown without paying the price. We will definitely stay here the next time we visit Chicago.

Don't stay here! Bought this hotel on Groupon. Hotel is being renovated. Does not look anything like pictures. Outlet, phone, lamp, and key card did not work in room. Room is just white and basic. Plaster everywhere. Amenities are out of order, non existent gym… We checked out this morning and told the front desk we were very disappointed and he just said sorry to hear. Guess that's what we get for using Groupon.

Staff was super nice, however there was no warning that there was some pretty major construction going on. No bar/restaurant/lounge — nor an actual front desk (folding table). We understand establishments needing updates but it would have been nice to have a bit of a warning…

Hotel was under construction, and looks to be changing to a new hotel in the near future. That said the room was nice. Bed and pillows could have been more comfortable. The location is farther from magnificent mile/river north than I'd prefer.

Well you have a bed and the room was quite large. However, everything very old and the bathroom is very renovierungabedürftig. My room had a "beautiful" outlook AIF the fire ladder. I. E. The window was directed directly at a WAMD, so that no daylight could fall into the room. The lobby is under renovation, so the entrance area is very nice and e8gentlich only from a makeshift table in front of the entrance area. Also the hallways were very dirty. In itself the hotel is not really nice…

Good view and a nice large room. Unfortunately the hotel was rebuilding and therefore you could not use everything and the reception looked somewhat provisional but the staff was very friendly and helpful. The room was very cold at night as the very outdated windows were leaking but on request we got more blankets.
Do not use the underground parking right next to it as the $50 per night are very expensive! You will find nearby prices up to $35/24h or on the street if you get up early enough to not have a ticket ($50 = ticket).

It's ok. Close to a ton of bars and perfectly located stores. The rooms well they are… okay. Small yes but clean. But the biggest issue I had was the loud hallways and dirty everything else but the room. I appreciate out for the location and will go again for that reason but that reason alone.

Location was great — close to the red line. Stayed in a single room, not very spacious but it was clean. Building is old and sketchy. Wish the staff was friendlier. If they were, experience would have been better.

Stayed here over the weekend on a deal from Hotwire. Comfy beds, spacious room and accessible to everything I need. My only issue was the bathroom being way to small. You can barely get to anything without the door being in the way. Overall good experience. The gym was under renovation but I’ll be back as soon as that’s done!

I'm giving 5 stars because it has what you need and it's CLEAN! The price is right. It's small but your downtown and be honest your not there for the room. The staff is friendly and helpful.

Front desk Night Auditor was absolutely amazing amazing and even upgraded us to one of their newly upgraded rooms! The room he gave us is absolutely beautiful with a huge 65 inch TV fireplace beautiful setting right in downtown Chicago! And this is all coming from an executive chef in the hospitality industry! Superb value for your money! Nice rooms. Clean and comfortable. VERY affordable for downtown Chicago. Walkable to good bars and restaurants. Parking is pricey, but if you're staying just here you shouldn't need to rent a car. CTA is around the corner.

For the price the hotel is great. Easy walking distance to restaurants and shopping the Navy Pier and the Gold Coast. Overall the room was fine there were some areas that could use a little maintenance but no real issues. They do take a large security deposit so make sure your credit card has the available limit. There is no free parking you must pay $16 a day to park your car in the garage next to the hotel. Overall I would recommend this hotel for anyone staying downtown Chicago looking for a less expensive room with most of the amenities you would expect.

The hotel in general is very acceptable. Rooms clean, bathrooms also. Bed comfortable and pretty well located. Subway stop less than 5 minutes walk. I recommend it for anyone who needs to be in chicago for a few days. It is true, that the windows aren't well insulated and gets quite cold. So it is necessary to set the heating with the consequent expenditure of energy.

Hotel Indigo is my favorite place to stay downtown. Aside from the great location to many Chicago attractions, it is also many comforts and amenities that make a several day trip away from home very comfortable. The rooms are very clean, comfortable, and decorated in a way that sets it apart from many other hotels. The hotel staff is very courteous and helpful each time we stay. My only complaint would be that the parking at the hotel is quite expensive and it takes the valet drivers a long time to get your car to you. We definitely add 15 min to our planned schedule every time we choose to park here. The hotel itself is always exceptional.

Excellent hotel in a great Gold Coast location! Not lavish but not overpriced, either. Staff is nice, great little bar in lobby, and the restaurant for breakfast is good. Rooms are quirky, colorful and quiet — — not the same-old same-old. Only down side was the bathroom. Teeny tiny — — no place to put your stuff and weird shower set-up. Otherwise, thumbs up!

I've stayed at this hotel twice within 12 months, and I would go back there any time! The staff at the front desk are very courteous, the rooms are very "colorful" and clean. I've got only good memories with this hotel. If you're an early bird, Lake Michigan is only a couple of blocks away to take a walk for a beautiful sunrise, but also North Michigan Avenue is in perfect walking distance. If you don't have breakfast included, go out, take a left and on your left side (same building / block) there's a place called "3rd Coast Cafe" an awesome place for breakfast!

Good experience overall. Weirdness with the parking. Plus parking is a little on the high side at 49 per night (We are from DC and used to that, and NYC levels are cheaper). The rooms can use a refresh on the paint. But overall a great experience. The staff are nice and attentive. Would come back.

Absolute Gem! This location is so adorable! We booked a room at this very affordable and perfectly situated hotel for a birthday/holiday road trip and were delighted upon our arrival. The manager personally escorted us to our room for a tour before checking in. Parking is somewhat pricey but competitive for that neighborhood. The location was safe, clean and fun even at night. It must be a popular spot as we even spotted a professional ball player on the elevator. The front desk staff was very helpful and fun. There is a bar and breakfast nook conveniently located on the first floor. We were able to walk to the Navy Pier from our room and were very close to shopping and great food. We really enjoyed our stay and plan to return.

I loved the neighborhood and the style of this place. I love colorful, whimsical décor. They ought to be more aware of the noises from other rooms… I was waiting for the elevator and could hear the lovers in the next room. Not too embarrassing. Perhaps put the active couples at the far end of the hallways. It would have been nice if the windows were easier to open as it was a beautiful day. Nice restaurants in the area. Some employees were more cheerful and helpful than others. I don't understand when someone is in the hospitality industry and they act put off that you're a paying guest.

First impression — it's very cute. Standard room is very cute as well. Lots of hooks to hang things on. Room for King but just dbl with a long black hair in it. Shower nozzle was hanging by last threads but I noticed it in the morning. Not enough pressure. I checked out and service was replacing it before I could get my suitcase out the door. Wish people would report broken items so they can be fixed for the next guest. Bed was too firm; I got no sleep. It was just softer than sleeping on a table. The view was fab. There is room for a bench at the bottom of the bed. That would provide a lovely place to sit and double as a luggage rack. I hate putting my case on the bed. The downstairs lobby provides cute little places to sit and chat and all are quite cosy. If you love a firm bed this place is for you.

Not bad by any stretch. I did however think the front desk wasn't helpful they didn't give my breakfast coupons and didn't take my my rollaway bed when I asked them too — instead just forgot. The amenities aren't bad but nothing special. Breakfast was good and the little bar in front was nice to have a drink — Maryann was great.

Very beachy feel, room was a little small. Clean hotel and great breakfast. Was able to find Street parking otherwise parking is around $50 for overnight stay. Great location.

Customer service was friendly and efficient. I stayed the evening before valentines day. When I called to see if I could have roses waiting for my wife customer service said no problem and no extra charge. Beds were comfortable room was kept nicely.

This place was terrible! I would never stay here again. The manager of the hotel was very rude to me personally, and at one point threatened to call the police on me and my guest over a disagreement about a line on the bill. This manager hung up on me while we were discussing it, his name was Michael and he was extremely rude and hostile. The parking is expensive and their operations are ineffectual. The hotel is overpriced for what it is. I highly suggest not going to the Hotel Indigo, it could be very unpleasant.

This place it becoming pretty discount. I have stayed at the Hotel Indigo for many years. This last say has been disappointing. The shower drain in the room I stayed in was very slow, and had to keep showers to about 60 seconds, for fear that the water would pour all over the floor. I ask the desk to look at it, but it didn't seem to be addressed. Really the over all maintenance needs an over-all clean up. It's a great location for this city. I just wish they would update the rooms and address some basic needs. The cafe is still really nice, the food there is great.

The hotel is a great deal for Chicago; however, don't expect a luxury hotel. The room was small but stylish. The employees were all very friendly and helpful. The valet parking was pricey, but that is Chicago for you. The location was within walking distance of Second City and a ton of restaurants. I would be happy to stay here again for a night or two.

I ordered a simple sundae. Instead of telling me they were out of the ingredients, they made something up. Then when I asked for my money back they said they couldn't do it for 4 days. When I finally asked them to just give me something of equal value and call it square they messed that up too! Price was good though. Rooms are small.

Great service, adequately sized rooms, amd close to lots of bars, clubs, retail, and good dining options. The rooms was very bright, peculiarly blue. For the price and location, it was a good place to spend the evening.

The hotel was nice and clean, and the it had a really fast internet. One small problem was that the corridora were super narrow and the rooms were tiny, but clean and looked nice. Only other thing is that the breakfast is made to seem complimentary in the information, but it is not.

The room was too small! They charged an OBSCENE pet deposit! And I ended up with a massive headache, my clothes and stuff smell like marijuana because a guest on the 4th floor (I was on 14) was smoking! And I was not refunded ANYTHING! Took them 3 days to find who it was and do something about it! I should have gotten my money back! It's not worth staying here! Waste of money! Too much for TOO little!

Fun, colorful decor, reminiscent of a college dorm room. Smaller rooms — just enough to fit a bed and a desk Cleaning is not good — — All 3 bath towels and at least 1 face towel — had smears of something on them when we arrived. — The first room we received was partially cleaned — they had left the door opened, and didn't have soaps yet, and there was a used towel on a table; the desk person helped us get a new room though. — Oftentimes, the lobby smelled like sewage or garbage — not sure if the room is nearby, or I just didn't like the smell of their cleaning solution.

My recent stay at this hotel was one of the worse experiences I have ever had. Thank goodness it was only one night. While I was there, I couldn't help but wish I booked somewhere else and I couldn't wait to check out. I can tolerate the fact the hotel is older and worn, but some things I experienced in this place was totally unacceptable such as: tons of hair in the shower even before I even used it, slow drain in the shower, an unbelievably LOUD air conditioner that kicks in about every 30 minutes making it so very difficult to sleep, thin walls (our neighbors were so loud and obnoxious! ), and counters were dirty. I had very little time to seek out staff to complain and ask for fixes. A good hotel would not require you to take time from your busy schedule do this as they would have already anticipated and prepared in advance a decent stay for their customers. I feel that this stay was a terrible waste of my money.

I would stay here again in a heartbeat. The room was so cute and decorated nicely. Shower was great, good water pressure. Very clean. It was located north of everything, which made parking cheaper. We Uber taxis everywhere we went. The staff AMAZING. Definitely recommended.

Very unprofessional service. They desperately need new Concierges. Do not stay here if you are interested in great service or are afraid of theft. Despite walking on two legs and speaking English, the staff seems to be inhuman. They stole my nice pyrex tupperware off the front counter stating that food left over night can cause illness so they threw it away. Maybe that would be reasonable but 1) the concierge asked me to leave it on the counter as I moved my car. He repeatedly insisted. They could have easily have called me and reminded me I left it there. 2) after asking for it three times, they mysteriously found it. Where was it? In the kitchen… with the food still inside. If airborne illness are an issue, why leave it in the the kitchen of all places? Gross! 3) The first time I asked for it they blew me off. The second time I asked for it they gave me one peice of the cheaper plastic tupperware, and kept the nicer one. The third time they suddenly found it… very clear to me somone was willing to risk thier job over this tupperware. I fear they would steal something more important. Avoid this place if this paints an uncomfortable scene for you.

Terrible experience. Room was dirty, tile coming up off floor, paint knocked off corners and A/C unit short cycled the entire time of our stay. Would not recommend this hotel to anyone.

Enjoyed my short stay there. Close to CTA-Red Line. Easy to go to Wrigley Field and the Loop. Room was modern, cozy, and clean. Staff was friendly. I will stay there the next time I go to Chicago.

I ordered one queen bed room from Priceline. The room was for two people. But I didn't expect the room to be so small. After I paid extra money, they allowed me change to a two bed room.

Cute space painted in vibrant colors (orange, pink, yellow, green, white). Doesn't look crazy, but fun. Free Wifi and freshly baked cookies included. Lots of little nooks to sit around informally in small groups between 2 and 8 in the lobby. Everyone on the staff is wonderful, and the service speed is unreal. We called to ask for a baby crib and had one within minutes. We also needed a repairman for our sink — — same thing; he showed up and had the issue fixed in a couple of minutes. The floor in our room is a bit run down, especially the baseboards in corners and the bathroom floor boards. Altogether, however, it's clean, neat, and comfortable.

My parents came to visit me a couple of months ago. Stayed in this hotel for more than 1 week. One of the days, my father, who is an older man sick of the heart, you got locked in the elevator of the hotel indigo (Gold Coast), for more than 20 minutes. The reaction of the staff who at the time was in reception was PITIFUL. When they got out of the elevator, so they only gave him a glass of water. NO one, we offered not even an apology. The next day they left the hotel AND THEY CHARGED two bottles of water were consumed… Very Very shameful.
