Beautiful hotel, the bathroom was amazing! lovely bath products and robes! Hotel roof top bar adjacent to interior bar was outstanding. Perfect location walk to Joes Seafood, eateries, and shopping out the walk through to Nordstroms and others! Collect your Marriot points!

Large comfortable rooms. Expensive but it was luxury worth doing at least once. It cost about $50 for 2 Gwen burgers and fries.

Gwen Upstairs is so cuute. Great Customer service. Good food and drinks. I met a really good stranger that has become a friend.

Love Jacob! He’s the best server! The roof top is to die for, very comfortable. Give this place 5 stars.

We loved our stay at the Gwen. (Late August) My ONLY complaint, is there is no place to put my foot to shave my legs in the shower. The location is wonderful. So many great things nearby (shopping, eating, drinking), an easy walk to millennium Park. The lobby is beautiful. It is a great mix of bright and sharp design. You want to have a reason to sit and hang out there. The bar is nice and well stocked, and the bar tender we had were very capable. Definitely a few steps up from your usual hotel bar. I didn't get to spend any time on the patio, but it looked spacious and very nice. It was always full in the early evening. The beds and pillows were Very comfortable! The bathrooms were spacious. The staff was incredible. They were the best I've dealt with in years. Its hard to describe, but they just had that extra touch of hospitality. We were even offered a welcome smoothy when we checked in. Say yes, it's better than you expect it to be!

Really loved our stay here. Great location, a nod to Chicago’s architecturally significant history, gorgeous mid-century modern accents/details, spacious, and fantastic people. Molton Brown and Illy products are appreciated. Thank you for excellent customer service, something that is quite rare these days to get a discerning experience. We’re loyal to Starwood properties, but the Gwen is a memorable stay out of most. Happy to return when back to the Chi!

This is a OK hotel. It's nothing special and definitely not what I would call luxurious. I've stayed at many other hotels labeled as "Luxury Collection" and would say that this one is a little off brand. It's a very busy place with loud music in the lobby, more like a W hotel. The facilities are basic, there's not even a coffee machine in the room, you can pick your own coffee in the morning from a big vat in the lobby. When I checked in at 4:30pm my room wasn't ready. Eventually I was given an accessible room instead of a standard room, which is fine but at least ASK if that's OK as the room layout and facilities are different from a standard room. Got a room facing Michigan avenue that was quite noisy due to the traffic. The SPG Platinum breakfast is pitiful and didn't get any sort of upgrade — which, again is fine, but wouldn't hurt to mention that you couldn't give an upgrade due to the hotel being fully booked instead of not saying a word about it.

Front Desk and Valet were very speedy and edficient. Probably my fastest check-in ever. The meeting and conference rooms are very up to date, technology wise. This is a must stay if here for work.

Went for a wedding and it wasn't not very easy to figure out how to actually get into the hotel. A visiting guest had to tell us as there didn't seem to be anyone at the door. Overall though the hotel was very nice and a great patio for drinks. Suites were beautiful and staff was friendly.

Room size and bathroom size were both great! Plenty of room to get ready and tons of counter space in the bathroom. Location is also great, walking distance to a wide variety of places to shop, eat, and get some drinks. The entrance/elevators to the rooms are a little inconvenient, the parking is overpriced compared to other hotels so we used spot hero, and the room is nothing to write home about. The rooms were clean and modern, but you could hear a lot of hallway noise. We would definitely stay again though as we don't spend a lot of time in the room anyway when we visit.

Large rooms and well maintained. Bathroom counter space is pretty good. Carpet is a little plush. Elevators are a little slow.

Fantastic hotel in the heart of Chicago. It’s connected literally to the Nordstrom so you can enter the shops through a bridge. There is a rooftop bar that looks very cool (I didn’t go in due to the cold weather). Room is very modern, clean and the bathroom is big and nice. The entry way is actually in the other side of Michigan Avenue so Uber driver often gets lost when they come to pick you up… highly recommend and will come back if I am in town.

The staff was fabulous! Abby at the front desk was terrific and had a wonderful personality. Sadly I did not get the night crews name. I was hungry at about 3 am, and a gentleman with a tattoo on his right arm was sincere in helping me. I will be back… This is why I'm a Gold Member! Thank you!

This is a really beautiful hotel. Our room was not small, like some downtown hotel rooms are, and the bathroom was also spacious and had a big tub and separate glass door shower. The decor is very chic, but I deducted a star because the walls seem very thin. We could hear our neighbors' conversations, hair dryer, and opening & closing of their door. I recommend earplugs if you stay here. Otherwise, the hotel was in a great location and the staff was friendly.

A luxury hotel with amazing Art Deco futures. A true 5*! Staff is highly trained and service is outstanding across all department. The bar serves Tailored cocktails and breakfast food is fresh and high quality. I stayed at the hotel for 4 nights over a long week end, as an industry experienced, an SPG member and world traveler I was highly impressed about service consistency, value for money and the hotel futures. I would not hesitate to recommend the hotel to corporate business or leisure travellers.

Hotel was very nice. Service was excellent. Even late night room service food was great. Better service at this hotel than many 5-star resorts in Vegas. Will definitely return.

The Gwen hotel has a good taste of art. It expelled in all services. I will definitely consider it as option 1 for any upcoming visit to Chicago.

Great location near lots of good restaurants and easy access to the CTA Red Line. The staff were excellent and the rooms were very nice with a large soaking tub in the bathroom. Highly recommended!

Beautiful large rooms, updated tastefully. The curtains are absolutely beautiful as is the art work and bathrooms. Staff is genuinely friendly and the lobby is modern and beautiful. Truly enjoy staying here and love the location. Connected to a mall, that can be accessed through an elevator, what more can you ask for.

Checked in late on Christmas for an impromptu 2-night stay. The room was spacious and our room overlooked Michigan Ave. Breakfast was an option for our welcome gift (as Starwood Preferred Guest) — breakfast potatoes were my favorite even though they were on the salty side. The hotel is attached to a shopping mall so you don't have to go outside (it was in the negatives! ). Concierge assisted with recommendations for seafood and making reservations for my seating preference in the restaurant — received a complimentary appetizer. I've stayed at other luxury collections and The Gwen fit the bill. I would stay here again for a holiday or a girls weekend.

Hard to find entrance. Multiple elevator from street entrance to room after walking through a maze from one elevator to another. Rooms are very clean and modern. Internet was fast and free. Big 65"-70" TV's. View is not the best but you could get lucky. Location on Mag Mile is awesome. Graet local food located near by.

Rocky start. Waiting an hour and a half to check in even after the 3:00 check in time. Staff at the front desk wasn’t overly friendly. Finally got to our room and the room is very nice and clean. In a great area.

I stayed here for a night with my wife and in-laws, who were visiting from out of town. The hotel is inspired by sculptor Gwen Lux and decor in the lobby and rooms reflects it beautifully. The location was brilliant: adjacent to the Magnificent Mile with ample parking nearby. And it is connected by the lower level to a shopping mall that will deposit you right on Michigan Ave. The room was clean and large with a decent view of the city. Hotel staff were courteous and check in and check out both went quickly.

Good place to stay. Staff is always very friendly and willing to help you in any way they can. Rooms and amenities are very nice. Convenient location with access to Michigan Avenue through the adjoining shops.

The hotel is very clean and elegant. The room was very spacious and the staff were friendly. The outdoor balcony on the bar was also a nice to have although it got busy. The air conditioning in the dining room was a bit cold so bring down a jumper for breakfast.

The hotel is gorgeous and the location is great, but the staff put this experience over the top! I travel a ton for work and have worked in the hospitality industry, so I'm just *slightly* critical :)! My experience at The Gwen far exceeded my expectations! Before I arrived, I spoke with one of the concierge team members, Ramon. He worked out an awesome surprise for my nephew who was turning 12 over the weekend. I cannot say enough about how smooth it all went and how amazing Ramon and Sara were — literally pulled off a phenomenal in-room surprise in less than a few hours' notice! Then there was Patrick! Patrick was the first to greet us at the hotel and kept making a lasting impression! Attentive and service-oriented, he made me and my nephew feel special! My nephew literally left dinner and said, "I want to give Patrick a big hug! He's made my trip so special! " And Nolan — manager/coach/team player extraordinaire — you rock! The rooftop bar/restaurant area is amazing! And, as one would suspect, super busy! Nolan jumped in and made sure we were taken care of at all times! Thank you all for making our time there so special. I'll post some pictures soon!

We stayed one night, it was a corporate event. Their front desk personnel needs better training on what policies to enforce when checking customers in. Seems they can't seem to be consistent on what to charge our credit cards, vs not. One minute it's the full price of the room, PLUS $150 on top of that? Or is it just the $150? Because my card was charged twice for the $150, when indeed a corporate card was on file and paid for. It is what It Is, but certainly frustrating to say the least. Would I stay here again? Eh… I would certainly consider other hotels around here. Joe R.

Booked this hotel through hotel tonight app. And it was a great decision. I want to give it 4.5 stars because it definitely deserves more than 4. This hotel is in a prime location with easy access to all downtown has to offer. The lobby and roof patio area are welcoming and would definitely be a great place if you're traveling with a group of family/friends. The room itself was spacious and the bathroom was luxurious. I definitely recommend for anyone looking for a nice and friendly place to stay where you feel pampered and by everything you could want to do downtown Chicago.

Since my flight got in at dawn, I figured I would try my luck and see if I was able to check in a bit earlier. Their staff was extremely polite and accommodating since the hotel wasn't at capacity. The rooms were beautiful, and very comfortable. The hotel is centrally located near Magnificent Mile, and a short walk from multiple public transportation. If you're up for it, it's about a 5 mile walk to Wrigley Stadium, 1 mile to Navy Pier, and 2.5 miles to Field Museum. I would recommend this hotel as I truly believe it to be a 5 Star hotel.

We are currently there for a weekend and I'm currently there today. After their recent renovation of the lobby, it is now a even more beautiful hotel I confused my booking dates and screwed up the dates. The front staff especially Brett and Cary were exceptional and in fact upgraded my reservation to a gorgeous suite on 17 th floor overlooking city and lake when they realized it was a special weekend for me. What a very special place with very amazing staff… I promise I will be back.

I'm a Starwood platinum member and have been traveling the entire USA on the same bank card for 5 weeks now. This hotel's system was having trouble processing my card despite the fact that no other hotel has had any issues my entire trip, and I made several purchases on the card today alone. Rather than working with me to resolve the issue or working with me to accept a cash deposit until the AM when my bank would be open to resolve the issue, the manager was completely inflexible and put me out on the street at 11pm with no where to go. I've never been treated so outrageously when staying with a hotel that belongs to a company to whom I've shown so much loyalty in my life! Every other Starwood property has managed to work with me whenever I've had unexpected card issues — apparently this hotel's policy is to put you out on the street if your cards are not working regardless of status with the hotel's program. My bank account balance has 10x the required amount to check into the hotel and I've had no other problems, but apparently the manager said this is a "common" problem with this hotel where other travelers who've had no problems with their cards suddenly have problems when trying to check into this hotel. Their POLICY is to put you out on the street if this happens. Beware this hotel and it's shoddy card system and uncaring managers. Took me two hours to find a new hotel to check into from 10pm-midnight after a long day of travel.

Omg! you have to stay here! not super expensive for chicago, even during st. Pattys parade. Great value! I go to chicago every year for st party's celebration and this is my prefers place! there shampoos are made exclusively for this place and are so great even my fiance was all about it! there breakfast was not too shabby. Not huge but got us going for out several mile walks we take here a few times a yearly. Soo quiet too! never heard the party down the hall! and don't get me started on the beds! oooooo wooooowowowowo! mall attached. Very very friendly service. Even smelled good. Can't wait to go back!

When we stayed at the Gwen, we had a small issue that the Gwen management resolved, more than to our satisfaction. We brought something with us that the hotel thought was theirs; the staff took it from the room and wasn't able to locate it for us again. The compensated us for the loss and took steps to enhance our stay while there. The hotel wasn't so quick to offer to resolve it, but in the end, their response exceeded our expectations. We'd be happy to stay there again. I liked — their chef is REALLY FANTASTIC; you'd expect to find that quality and presentation at a 4 or 5 star restaurant — friendly, helpful staff — being offered water, help with dinner reservations and entertainment at check in — luxurious pillows — great view, huge room — location — of course, clean and tidy and new looking The room had a couple of maintenance issues, and might cater more to single business travelers than couples, but it wasn't much of a problem.

The room was lovely. The service was mostly very helpful and accommodating. Decorated nicely. Great proximity to fun in the city :-)

Accommodations at The Gwen were sufficient. The level of service offered by concierge, reception and guest services staff were what set it above others. Concierge Meg Stewart went above and beyond in helping us plan our trip to the city, including suggestions for tours and dining. Her assistance was essential. Additionally, guest services was incredibly responsive and helpful during our stay. Thank you!

Luxury Collection, really Starwood? I know renovations have just begun (beware! ), but in the meantime, listing this as a Luxury Collection hotel seems very generous. Excellent location though — — right on the magnificent mile, on top of a Nordstrom.

Was upgraded to a Junior King Suite. The room was mediocre and did not feel upscale at all. Although the hotel was recently updated and renamed the Gwen, the rooms still feel like they're 10 years old. However, the bed was comfortable, and the concierge service was quick and courteous. The free continental breakfast was fantastic, but is a little pricey if you're paying out of pocket. I'll probably try another SPG hotel on my next visit.

Many reviews I read were negative, as the hotel apparently struggled with the Hilton to Starwood transition. They have obviously put much effort to correct the issues. The staff was great upon check-in and we're attentive to the one issue I had. The rooms themselves are very large, and the bathroom itself was almost as big as the room. Location wise the hotel is perfect. Right on Michigan Avenue, a block or two to three L, and has access to an indoor mall. All in all, great stay.

The place was really nice our problems were with the checkout process and subseqeuent lack of customer service. We stopped at the desk on the way out to get an erronous charge fixed on the bill and were asssured that was taken care of. Then I see it come through my charge statement with the extra charge included so I called to talk to someone again. The woman I talked to about the issue was clueless and took my info and phone number. I get no call just an email later with the credit amount (SANS THE TAX) and of course no explanation! So I called and left a message for the manager to tell her what happened but she did not call me back either. So much for that as our hotel of choice when staying in Chicago!

Excellent spacious room. We had the king bed room and it was so comfortable. We stayed there for a wedding we had in the area and the hotel is close to so much. The bar was a great place to have a nice cocktail to end the evening.

Just a note… I don't think its fair for anyone to write any sort of negative review until the property has transformed into its future self under the Gwen Starwood name… unless it involves poor treatment from the staff or bad service. The entire property is undergoing a major transformation the winter of 2015/16, so rooms and lobby still reflect the old Conrad hotel (under Hilton). Hotel manager was very professional with me and explained that they were spending $50k per room, so I'm sure the decor will live up to the Starwood reputation… just not yet!

Great location, clean and well-maintained rooms (if a tad dated — — still nice, though), and attentive staff. One odd practice — — their mini fridges aren't stocked and are turned off by default. Ours didn't work at all and they brought up another one.

I wouldn't stay anywhere else in the city. The location, staff, and amenities are everything you need!

We upgraded to a suite because they had incredibly affordable availability upon check in. It provided us with one of the most luxurious big city experiences we've ever had at a hotel. The beautiful architecture on our outside patio was enough to keep us captivated for days. I am also sure our room 1401 captivated the cute girls across the way that could look directly into our bedroom, unabashedly. Pardon the show. But the hotel itself is perfectly located, and the 5th floor reception and lounge area is delightful. Some of the best room service I have ever had in a hotel, where the breakfast arrived piping hot and delicious, without the tell tale signs of sitting for too long or bland flavor. The bar was frequented, and the bartender was delightful. I can't remember his name but he was witty, charming, and a laugh riot. All the service was exceptional, and I found the hotel as relaxing and comfortable as I have experienced on a business trip. It's location and value aside, this is a property I would seek out to stay in for any type of event. Very hip without trying too hard, professional, and sophisticated.

OMG the bathroom is reason enough — separate commode, tub, and shower and plenty of space. Room is normal size but the bed was wonderful. Lots of pillows! Great staff.

Disappointed service. Expected much better accommodation and service from Conrad especially we stayed at king executive room. The phone system not working after 10pm Friday night. Can't reach reception, room service, restaurant. Called Conrad Chicago directly from my cell, got rude receptionist. She doesn even apologetic after I told her the phone is not even working. Not going to stay here. There are much better hotels around here at Chicago and around the world thas has better accommodation and service than this hotel.

Nice location for visitors who are shopping at Nordstrom but very poorly attentive staff. It took 20 minutes to get a glass of wine. The pictures on the website are not what your going to get. Very disappointed with the way we were treated. We had four guests and expected two double beds, unfortunately when we got there they gave us a king size be for four people? That was unacceptable. One guest had to sleep on the chair. The front desk said that the hotel was fully booked. I wouldn't recommend this place to anyone visiting Chicago if they are on a budget. Breakfast toast and butter is $10? For a piece of toast? Definitely disappointed with a five star hotel and staff that is supposed to be highly recommended.

The hotel was great, clean, friendly staff and over all experience was great.

When I first stepped into the Conrad, I wasn't very impressed. The lobby, spacious and bright as it may be, was lacking the new hotel feel I preferred; and the rooms were, well, ordinary. But I was soon won over by the friendly, helpful and knowledgeable staff at both receptions, and the amazing sleep vehicle I have ever laid in. The best sleep I ever had in my life! I'd recommend The Conrad Chicago to any traveler, especially coming off a long haul flight.

This is an amazing hotel. Probably one of the best hotels I've stayed at downtown. They have an amazing bathtub that has enough room around it to just sit. Their service is so friendly and efficient and I recommend anyone visiting Chicago to stay here. It's attached to north bridge shopping mall and right next to Michigan avenue. Great location for a great price.

1. Location, Location, Location: The Conrad Chicago is located in one of the best sections of town. Seconds away from shopping and excellent dinning locations. Easy valet or self-parking. 2. Retro luxury. Staying at the Conrad reminds me of luxury past. Complementary slippers, robes and water await you stay. Also, customize your mini bar as you see fit or order a drink and staff will mix it in front of you in your room. 3. Cost. Your stay here will be a significantly lower capital expenditure than similar accommodations in the same area.

Stayed here over 4th of july, some construction going on in the lobby. Otherwise the hotel itself was fine. Service was good, room was nice. My one complaint, breakfast sucked. Their normal restaurant was getting a new floor in so they moved it to a ball room but I think it was the same food, or was supposed to be. We wandered in, no one to great us, sat down, and ate. Honestly I wasn't sure if it was complimentary or it cost us (later I found out it cost us) because no one told us and there was no signage. Let me compare this to another hilton property. Lake Buena Vista Hilton, a lower tier hotel than conrad, has a breakfast buffet that was exponentially better. More options, better selection, and better food. Plus, Disney characters will come and entertain your children. We didn't have kids with us in Chicago but I know Minnie Mouse doesn't come free. The cost? About the same, $18 or so per person I think. The difference is, based on the food quality, at the Lake Buena Vista hilton I felt as though I got my money's worth, at the Conrad I felt ripped off. I'd put it at hospital cafeteria quality food. For $18 I could have ordered the eggs benedict from room service and would have (hopefully) gotten something better.

The rooms are very good and comfortable. You can choose the type of Pillow you want. The location is perfect, close to the metro (red line) and close Michigan Av.
In the mornings and at the end of the evening, given coffee and you free. The gym is quite modern and in perfect condition.
