Food is not cooked fresh. Had to send back my sandwich only to get another cold sandwich. On top of that, we had the worst service I have ever had at a restaurant.

I have enjoyed a few good meals here before seeing a performance at Lyric Opera. The menu features mostly standard steak-and-seafood fare with unique (but not weird) presentations. I had an excellent salmon, and my wife's sea bass had a nice peppery crust to it. Prices are about what you'd expect for an upscale place in the Loop. Staff are friendly and professional.

Beautiful location — attended a wedding reception there. Bar staff a bit curt, but overall a nice evening.

Very good! Nice view and had simple roast chicken w roasted vegetables that was perfect.

This place never disappoints, staff is always friendly and is one of my favorite places to have dinner. (my father and uncles used to work here back in the day — up to this day our recommended place to have dinner is here)

The kitchen did not read the note about my gluten allergy. After I saw my plate had a questionable item on it I asked the waitress to confirm it was in fact gluten free. She came back and LIED saying it was. I now have to suffer the consequences of this restaurants negligence.

They would absolutely get 5 stars — IF they could get special orders correct. They don't even read the notes on an online order, so don't bother. Their food is really good, but I'm sick of asking for something every single time I order and they NEVER do it.

Friendly staff, good service, decent beers and snacks. Discounted snacks before 6pm bit expensive but very handy location.

A little hidden in the middle of a building's lobby, this is a great pre-theater option for the Opera. My martini took two tries, but at least the second one came back with a little extra in the shaker, which I'll admit made it a little hard to stay awake during the first act. But my steak was fantastic, so well cooked and seasoned, I've been thinking about virtually every night since we were at Rivers. The server was friendly and very aware of our theater engagement and made sure we got thru our meal with plenty of time to grab a drink at the Lyric!

Very good food I go to Rivers express for lunch. They have great sandwiches and a delicious corn soup. Today I had the Bacon burger and a cup of the corn soup.

Nice restaurant and party venue with great views of the river. Went for a wedding on the terrace and then there was dancing inside the restaurant. Dinner for the wedding was just average.

Delicious food. Amazing interiors and furniture. This place is great for fine dining. The waiters were attentive and nice.

The food in this very large restaurant, one side of which faces the Chicago River, is pretty good. Service at lunchtime is fast. Prices are on the high side, at least for lunch. The interior is rather drab and utilitarian. Perhaps when the weather allows outdoor access the space could be more interesting.

I have come here before the Opera for years. This place gets my 4 stars and repeat business primarily for the convenience and for the outstanding service. The food is good, but not the best. Some of the items are pricey relative to the quality/quantity, particularly some of the steak and fish options, but it is entirely possible to dine for under $100 for two. There is $16 parking in the Mercantile Exchange and it is right across from the Civic Opera House. The hostesses and waiters are friendly, professional, courteous and accommodating. Bottom line is that if you plan to go to Lyric Opera, Rivers is the best option in terms of convenience.

Nicely priced, excellent location close to downtown attractions. Directly across from Riverwalk. Just awesome. Very clean and tastefully decorated. The views from front hotel rooms are beautiful. Only downside is only one working elevator for higher floors, and they seem to have a scheme going to upsell rooms upon arrival instead of assigning based on Internet price… typical big city money grab. I would stay again or recommend.

Best hotel deal in Chicago! Less expensive than any other hotel in the area, amazing location 2 minute walk from the L train less than 10 minute walk to the shore. Free Wi-Fi throughout the hotel. Great views from the rooms and excellent customer service! One out of the four elevators was out of order during my stay and they gave us a 20$ voucher to the hotel Restaurant. Smaller rooms and no tubs in the bathroom however when I visit the city I never plan to spend much time in the room or taking baths, would rather have a smaller room to save the extra $$ for activities in the city. Would have given 5/5 except the room service was not that great.

The room is clean & walk in shower and restroom were up to date for an older hotel. The only issue I had was the location of the room did not allow you to control the thermostat and no one informed us of this. So it was quiet warm despite the 40 degree weather outside. One thing that's an absolute disappointment are the mattresses. The mattress was hard, you could feel the springs, and just down right uncomfortable. I asked for a room change and they were accommodating but mattresses are the same in any of the rooms. Word of advice… Spend the extra cash if you have difficulty sleeping. I'll never stay here again.

This and Club Quarters is where we stay about once a year when we visit Chi-town. They have such great customer service, clean rooms, and wonderful views (not bad pricing either). Right on the river and close to all the downtown fun. The loop, Magnificent Mile, Navy Pier, and many great stores all within walking distance.

If you have a group of 4, this is the perfect place to stay. The suites are so spacious compared to a normal hotel room and the prices are so reasonable. Not to mention the staff was super friendly and had great recommendations. We will definitely be going back!

Great price, but rooms too small, not enough help at the front desk, front desk is too small, only two elevators to go up to the floors, room temperature cannot be adjusted, Brrr 19 outside, 60 max inside. Great location.

I stayed here on August 30th while in Chicago for a concert. I booked the room in May. I was given the "best available rate" of $209 for 1 room with 4 people. The room we were given was not up to par! There were dead smashed bugs on the ceiling and lamp shades, the fridge was sticky, the bathroom sink was full of hair that looked like someone had just shaved in it, and finally there was not enough room for 4 people to sleep in the room. There was a queen size bed and a small size pull out couch. Thankfully we were able to move to a new room which had enough room for all of us and was clean. They said it was a smaller room, but the way it was laid out it felt and looked bigger, which was nice. We checked out on the morning of August 31st. I was told that the total for the room was $459 and was booked for only 3 people. I told them that was not correct, that I booked the room for $209 and for 4 people. The lady working the desk, Devin was very rude, She called reservations and asked them to send a copy of the confirmation and when it came through she slapped it down on the desk and said "It is $459". I asked to speak to a manger but no manager was ever called. I was forced to pay the $459 even after my husband sent a copy of my confirmation e-mail stating the room was booked for $209. The front desk refused to work with me on getting the issue solved.

First of all, the hotel doesn't have an appropriate size sign in front of the building so it took about 20 minutes driving all over before we called the hotel to get directions. (And by the way, it shares an entrance with Club Quarters. ) Got the standard room with a queen size bed, and it was such a tiny room! The bed was right next to the bathroom which had a sliding door so if you were sharing the room with someone and they were sitting on the bed you would literally be 5 feet away from the person while on the toilet. The "television" was about a 19 or 21 inch computer monitor that was stuck on the wall so you could barely see anything on it from the bed without squinting! The bathroom only had a stand-up shower and the water took about 10 minutes to get hot. The mattress was so firm that my back aches from spending 3 nights on it and I usually sleep on a medium soft mattress. Other complaints were that there was only one ice machine in the entire hotel which was on the 9th floor. The window we got faced an alley and the window was about 2 feet wide so it was quite overwhelming and disorienting walking outside from a tiny room with barely a window to the outside of the hotel in the middle of busy traffic and tall buildings.

My husband and I really enjoyed staying here earlier in December. We were walking distance from everything we wanted to see and a bunch of amazing restaurants. It's cheap, considering the location. It was clean and my husband absolutely loved the coffee on the second floor. The only problem we had was that I couldn't find the self-parking for the life of me. I ended up having to give up and paying for valet parking, but I'll take some responsibility for that — a nice map or directions would've been nice. The main reason for the 4 stars is that we couldn't control the room temperature. It wasn't awful, just a couple degrees colder than comfortable, but nothing horrible.

Location is great but staff seemed to go out of their way to be unhelpful and as if they are doing you a big favour. We had a few encounters where it would not have taken them any extra effort to be a bit nice. They definitely do not understand customer satisfaction and care even less about customer loyalty. Maybe they feel their location guarantees them customers. You get decent service only if you ask and insist. Will never stay there again.
