Our 3 night stay has been wonderful! The staff goes above and beyond in every aspect. The outside bar was excellent and has a nice view. We’re celebrating our anniversary and they surprised us with the most amazing tray of goodies. Helped make our visit extra special.

Amazing hotel with incredible rooftop atmosphere.

I stay at the Ren every week and it’s simply amazing. It feels like home and the staff is wonderful. However, lounge should be open on weekends as well.

Extremely courteous staff. The rooms are very nice and exceptionally priced in comparison to other lodging nearby. It’s my second time here. The first was a large upgraded river view. This was the 800 square foot suite. The views are amazing!

Awesomely fancy for a good price. Great views from quite large windows. Ours was looking over the river, across from Trump Tower. Although it was a pretty okay price there was a reason. Not much is included. Parking is outrageous, ended up paying a quarter of the price by parking down the street. There is a place in the hotel that serves breakfast, but it's not included, kind of pricey as well. Otherwise, the room was very nice. Shower was gorgeous, beds were comfy. All in all, good experience.

The lobby is beautiful but the room leaves a lot to be desired. The first room I got smelled of smoke, had a broken drawer, and the couch had visible crumbs and dirt on it. The front desk was prompt in giving me a new room. Outdated couch and carpet. I found blood stains on my pillow case as well as multiple towels. The shower was difficult to use and the faucet was barely attached to the wall. Ming, our house keeper, did a very good job in cleaning our room every day and was extremely friendly. Better off staying elsewhere in my opinion.

The hotel room was amazing. The bathroom was spacious and also very beautiful. The room came with a smart TV and free HBO. The shower was a bit of downgrade, but the view and the amenities were great so whatever. The staff was super accommodating. Shout out to Fabi Garcia for helping me find some good spots to eat around the area and great conversations.

Very upscale and modern Hotel. Great location to many Chicago sights. Great layout of space. Plenty of unique spots to relax and have a cocktail in the lobby. Beautiful rooms with a great view. Awesome outdoor cocktail area! Would most definitely come back again.

This is a great hotel, especially for Marriott Gold Elite, or higher, members. The breakfast was fantastic and had a huge selection. Not available on the weekends, but you are compensated with points. The hotel is clean and inviting with a great feel and flow. The room with 2 queens had more than enough space and we had a great view of the river from it. We walked or used trains the whole weekend and the central location made for unlimited options. I would highly recommend this hotel for a visit.

Great updated venue in a prime location. Staff is super attentive and very friendly. Food is very well done by the executive chef and the meeting space is conveniently laid out. Nightly rates are on par with most Chicago priorities, but as it is in the Marriott family they show love to their rewards members. Sign up!

Hotel did not do a good job during our dinner convention last july 7 2018. Some participants who paid did not receive food. They were even told there was no food anymore. I would not recommend this as a convention venue.

I just arrived and booked through hotels. Com as I have hundreds of times around the world. The hotel was promoted as being regularly over $1000 and on sale for approx $350 —
This is NOT a $1000 a night room. I would classify it as a entry level holiday inn. The rooms are in need of renovations, bathrooms old, and dated, cabinetry worn and basis amenities non existent.

Location is great. Staff are a hit and miss as far as the hospitality goes. Parking is $69 a day after what you pay for the rooms. Use the first floor bar as the staff are much better than third floor patio bar. Raised, is a waste of your time due to rudeness of the staff, not the waiters our waitresses, but the front doorman/manager or the bouncers. They are not there to create a memorable moments but to be insulting and absolutely rude! Their miserable life shouldn't transfer to you, but it does since they don't know why they are there and our presence is the reason they have a job. There are plenty more fun places to go to in the area instead of wasting your time and money there.

This is a very cool hotel. I reserved room 2524 for my wife's birthday in early May and wasn't disappointed. The staff is very accommodating. Everything was terrific from having a bouquet of flowers placed in the room, a fan for sleeping, and extra towels the way she likes them. The only issue I had the whole stay are with the towels. They are VERY course and need to be updated to a softer feeling material. Other than that… a great stay! Would definitely return.

We came for our honeymoon and were greeted before even going in with smiles from the doormen who took care of our luggage followed by a very respectful, helpful young woman at the desk who provided us with a map that showed the walking distance to such city attractions as Willis (Sears) Tower, Navy Pier, Grant Park, Buckingham Fountain, Millennium Park (The Bean), Field Museum, Shedd Aquarium, and Hancock Observatory. We had such a good time we even extended our stay! The whirlpool and indoor pool were awesome plus they provided delicious water with different fruits in it everyday. Overall it was a wonderful location with outstanding service!

The restrarant of the Renaissance hotel with it's circular room overlooks the Chicago River. The views were breathtaking. The atrium with the display of ornamental lights was gorgeous. The food was good. The cocktails even better. I really enjoyed my lunch at the Renaissance.

I was visiting Chicago in order to see Hamilton performed in the downtown Chicago theater district. This hotel was perfectly located, beautifully presented, and an extremely lovely place to stay. The downstairs Lobby seems hectic and loud at times because they had a bar there. But I really enjoyed all the funky furnishings and architecture.

Went for St Patty's day. Great location for access to the river. Lobby bar makes good drinks and has a decent menu. Raised (rooftop bar) has great city views from the patio. Will definitely return.

Very nicely remodeled hotel close to restaurants. Lobby is very chic and makes you want to hang out, even if new concept is a bit noisy. The executive suite was spacious and well appointed. River views are amazing. As is the vote from the pool. Nice skylights and good music at the pool, but no hot tub. The hot tub area had finally been tiled over… it used to just have boards over it. Now it offers a cute sitting area. Staff goes above and beyond. Our room want ready as early as we'd have liked, so we're took advantage of the locker rooms and went swimming. Nakia delivered the keys to the pool! Great time!

The Looking Glass room was a nice place to have a small gathering. The food served was delicious. There weren't any easy to notice signs pointing to the appropriate elevator, or indication that the room wasn't on the ground floor. However, the staff was friendly in helping to guide me to where I needed to go.

Stayed on the 23rd floor2320 corner room over looking the river. Great room. Love the light in the bathroom that lights the floor from under the cabinet this is brilliant. Bed was very comfy. Enjoyed the mini mall on lower level for Starbucks. Checked out the pool area and it was so pretty. We will be back.

I have never been so disappointed in a company. Booked a room with 2 queen beds for 3 adults. When we arrived it was very early in the morning and the front desk clerk told me they would call us as soon as our room was ready. We never got a call. We went back to the hotel at just after 4pm and they informed me we were getting a king bed and a cot. I explained and showed my room confirmation for 2 queen beds. They told me they would comp me the cot. I sat in my room for over 2hrs waiting for the cot that never came. I then requested a refund and I’d make the 3hr drive home but they refused that as well. They did NOTHING make things right and I do spend $300+ on a hotel room so I can sleep on a cot. I will never return to the renaissance and I would never suggest anyone else stay there either.

Great views and super nice rooms but their customer service leaves something to be desired. I stayed here for about a month for a work trip and twice they lost my dry cleaning and once it came back smelling like smoke. Not impressed.

This Marriott hotel is the best in the Chicago area. Walking distance to a lot of nightlife. High quality amenities. Professional and polite staff. My advice on parking overnight is to use SpotHero and save yourself a bundle. Although if you are staying here money may not be a concern.

Very nice and clean hotel on the north side of Chicago. Hotel has plenty of space covered in front of the main door so you don't feel the full force of the weather when waiting for a taxi. Rooms were very nice. I got upgraded to a Riverview. I was there during the winter and was watching chunks of ice float by. The only thing that was a little strange was the lack of a real desk. My room had 2 arm chairs in it, and a small side table that you can't quite position to use as a table. In the end I just ended up using my laptop on my lap (go figure). Chairs were really comfortable though. If you have access, the lounge downstairs is really nice for breakfast. Fruit, eggs, bacon and pastries, with bottled juices, sodas and waters. Would stay here again.

Beautiful hotel with great views. The Club Quarters is exceptional. The bar area is comfortable and elegant. They have a great array of food options. I will gladly stay there again.

Words can't describe how incredible this place is! It has everything from food, drinks, relaxation and swimming. Absolutely loved this hotel. Am definitely staying there again. Super clean rooms and extremely friendly staff. The roof top bar was also top notch.

Nice cozy hotel located in the heart of downtown. Its close to many attractions and is down the street from the House Of Blues. It has a fantastic bar in the lobby with a great drink selection. All in all a nice place to stay.

My husband and I have been there the past two years between Christmas and New Year's. Each time we were given a suite upgrade, and this time they outdid themselves in service as they did last year. They were such a friendly, helpful staff, and the rooms and views are just incredible. Would definitely recommend this hotel and its location for a wonderful winter or summer experience in Chicago!

All I have to say is WOW. Ambience was amazing, even with the lounge being closed, we were offered vouchers for breakfast. Service was amazing… other than housekeeping knocking at 8 in the morning. No complaints. Would stay again and would definitely recommend to friends and family!

Nice hotel. Good service. Not sure why they think packaging food in prettier paper and plastic makes room service feel less like your at camp but it doesn't. Kudos for the attempt but business travelers appreciate a plate real silverware and a nice room service experience.

Planned a special Birthday weekend in Chicago with my significant other. Arrived to a breathtaking remodeled lobby, superior front desk service and a gorgeous hotel room. The front desk took the time to carefully listen as to our visits purpose. About an hour after checking in and getting settled into our room, the hotel delivers a gourmet cheese and cured meats tray with two bottles of sparkling mineral water and beautiful macaroon cookies accompanied by a Happy Birthday note. This was unexpected and exceeded expectations. From the Valet, Bellman, Front Desk or Housekeeping, everyone was professional, kind and genuinely engaged to offer a memorable experience. Thank you and wonderful job to the Downtown Chicago Renaissance Team!

Spent the weekend here and had a great time. Staff is great. Front desk best I have experienced. First time there since a major renovation. Very well done and changes the feel of the hotel. Much more energy and upbeat feel on arrival. Room was great with a view of the river that is outstanding.

Great ambiance, decent beds and very good location for shopping and heading to Lincoln Park to tour around. The service was a bit under expectations. We requested extra pillow and a blanket via chat tool on the MARRIOTT AP the day prior and it wasn’t handled when we got to our room despite checking in the day before. Called front desk again when we got to the rooms and discovered the issue. We’re told it would be handled immediately… 90 min later, still no blanket. Went to front desk (this is now the 3rd Request) and they asked if we wanted a down feather blanket or non-down blanket. Asked for down, got back to room that night and it was not the correct blanket. Gave up!

The location is superb, the rooms are very good, breakfast very good and the staff charming.

I had drinks outside at raised and really enjoyed it. The music inside was right up my alley and outside was nice because there were heat lamps everywhere. Good location and view.

I stayed once before and I didn't have a great experience. However; I decided to stay again and was wowed by the service and staff. I was given an upgrade. First time ever as a Marriott Gold! Quite a room! Love the location because you can be in the Loop and navigate the rest of the city well. I got room service and food at the bar as well as the Lounge. The front desk was great and almost everyone emphasized their focus on service and guest well being.

If you are visiting their rooftop bar, check your bank account after couple days! Their server has changed the bill and charged me extra (seems like decided to give her more tip! ). I tried to reach out to their manager several times and left two messages so far; He is not responsive at all! If you have been to this place in past couple weeks, I strongly recommend you to check your bank account and ensure they have not charged you extra. If you've been charged extra, then good luck cause you cannot find the manager to resolve the issue.

I spent an afternoon noon at the Renaissance Hotel for a professional conference on the the 3rd floor. This was a lunch with coffee and dessert. The presentation of the food was great, Nice and classy. They had wait staff that was very attentive and courteous. I was able to sit through the conference without being uncomfortable or too tired. Overall the hotel feels updated, but the ambiance is a little dark and "clubby" which is not my style. The lobby is open and spacious, a little rough to know where to go as the front desk is tucked around a wall.

Overall nice hotel although check in was very difficult (which it never should be). I needed a separate credit card to check in than when I originally booked the room. I couldn't charge it to the original card for some reason. Aka confusion about what's actually getting charged? Parking they charge separate from the hotel room which was 70$ for each night. No continental breakfast. Staff didn't seem to care about actually helping the customer. Location was good but everything else wasn't. Wouldn't come back.

The location is great! Right across the street from the river walk and easy train access. The lobby is beautiful and modern, and the rooms are also beautiful as well as spacious. Would definitely stay here again.

The hotel is nice, the staff are super friendly and helpful. There is a limited dine in menu, but the Mushroom Bisque was divine. I only wish better soundproofing had been used when making the rooms. I'm up at 3am because of city sounds & my meeting doesn't start til 8. It's going to be a long day.

However, the iron in my room was broken and burned a whole right through my shirt. Housekeeping came Ann's glut the iron quickly then called back to assure that the iron was indeed broken. I was told a would be contacted by a manager and that never happened. Upon check out, I left my information with a the front desk and told my story again. It has been over a week and I still haven't heard from anyone. Wonderful location to be in the city and very clean. Customer service could be a little better.

As a Platinum Marriott Rewards member, I would not recommend this hotel. Management was extremely rude and disrespectful to myself and my guests. On this particular weekend, they enforced a policy that states that guests cannot bring more than 2 alcoholic beverages per adult into their room. I was stopped by the concierge while carrying two 15 packs of bud light through the lobby. The concierge then forced me to check my case of beer with the concierge until the following morning. The website does not list this policy and I was not given any advance notice before my stay. After spending 40, 000 points per night for 4 nights to stay at this hotel, I was extremely dissatisfied with my stay. If you intend to drink (or have any sort of fun) in your hotel room, don't stay at this one.

The staff was exceptional and kind. The rooms were perfectly clean and seen to by a detailed eye. The bed was incredibly comfortable and the central air responded rather quickly. I loved my stay and will come again.

Best location: everything interesting is within walking distance. Otherwise near several metro lines. Pillows and comforters are extremely comfortable. Weekend breakfast buffet has many options (look in the fridge! ) and tea selection is great. An enjoyable stay.

Beautiful wedding venue. The cocktail hour was up the elevators and then reception was in the ballroom. Huge room, plenty of space for even 300+ people. Food was good, appetizers were good. Plenty of bathrooms which were clean and nice bathrooms. Staff was nice as well. Overall I was impressed.

Absolutely loved the at atmosphere! The space is big for big crowds or good enough for a small crowd. The service was great; food came out fast. There was a live band called Lidia Cash Duo playing which was the highlight of my night. They played great songs that fit with the vibe of the restaurant/bar. I would defined recommend checking this place out!

Recently stayed here for our One Year Wedding anniversary. When calling ahead, I never had to wait on hold, someone was always there immediately to answer the phone. Upon arrival, I requested an early checkin which they granted without any issue. Our travel arrangements for the next day ran into a snag, and they were more than happy to accommodate a later check out as well. The staff is very friendly, welcoming, and helpful. They also delivered a bottle of champagne and chocolate covered strawberries in celebration of our anniversary! Very clean rooms with great views. Highly reccommended, will be staying here again!

Gorgeous contemporary cozy hotel. Cool visual dining and hipster arts. Best feature is the new rooftop called Raised. This 2016 hotspot has awesome view of Chicago skyline and river. This place is not crowded but cozy and fun social spot. Tasty food, seafood and vegetarian options plus a fun dessert like the pbj pushpop. A must to check out for this summer!

This hotel sucks. I got charged 40 dollars cause every time I picked up the stupid phone it was 5$. The pool was just plain old nasty, and the hot tub was smaller than the toilet. I got on the elevator and this one staff person was very creepy. Also I went on the elevator and it broke I was stuck for 2 hours. When I got to my room, the key didn't work, and when we went to get a new one they charged us 3 dollars. We didn't get a TV guide so we went down to get one but the staff employee didn't give us one, all he said was that we should look harder for one. The only mildly decent part of the trip was when we left the hotel to go bowling. So all in all don't come to this hotel, it sucks.

Very nice hotel with friendly staff. Restaurant and bar offered a great selection of food and drinks. Rooms were very clean and comfortable. Location is great for working downtown and there are plenty of great spots to grab food.

Great hotel. Would have preferred few Wi-Fi in the rooms. The only free Wi-Fi was in the lobby where it was loud and hard to work.

I am planning a large scale corporate event with Renaissance right now and met with Michelle in private events to view space there this week. She was so helpful and friendly and has been very willing to work with us on budget ans space. The newly renovated lobby is very nice, really modern and open. I was also able to view the brand new, still under construction rooftop bar which looks like it's going to be really nice. It has a great patio with cabanas as well as a really inviting and cozy indoor space with a modern meets rustic atmosphere. I can't wait to have some cocktails here when the rooftop opens in the spring and i'm very much looking forward to our event in Great Street, another beautiful room with great views of the Chicago river.

I came here for a Yelp Elite event. It was my first one, as I was invited by a friend and was still waiting to become Elite myself. This event was everything I heard they could be. The giant lobby was a great place to hold the event, and it wasn't too crowded. I mostly enjoyed margaritas and old fashioned drinks that were being hand made, but I also found my way around to the beer booths as well. I was able to try some beers I hadn't before, which was a nice discovery experience. The food was also great, my favorite being the pulled pork sliders. We ate at the standing tables and met some other Yelpers, who were very friendly. I was also able to grab a whole bunch of swag as well, including sunglasses, a hat, earbuds, a bottle opener, and more sunglasses. I even got a cute little beer glass! Unfortunately I felt like the event ended a little bit too early, but overall I can't complain too much. The event was a great success and it was nice meeting everyone who attended.

Probably my favorite Marriott property in Chicago. Staff is solid. Rooms clean and typically gorgeous views. The suites are immaculate. Renovations, although annoying, are on their way to adding some great value. Bar service could use some work; staff didn't seem to engaged.

Bed was comfortable and clean. Bathroom was clean. Strong Wi-Fi. Lounge area associated with the bar was very comfortable and welcoming. Staff was professional and courteous.

Great place, awesome amenities. You get to use the gym in the arena next door for free. Literally best gym I've ever been to. Good for runners, power lifters or cross fitters.

Centrally located on Wacker, valet staff very friendly. Front desk staff was efficient, but did not offer additional information and did not ask if I had any questions. Information about where to find places (pool, hotel restaurants, workout area) was not verbally provided. Hotel is clean. Noise is a factor as the elevated train runs adjacent to the hotel. Rooms adjacent to the train are loud.

Cool vibe. Great location steps from the river walk. Fun bar. Excellent staff. There was no DESK in my room — major bummer (and quite unexpected). Means doing work on the bed.

Awesome experience here. Booked two rooms for a "girls weekend" and they were able to put us on the same floor with a great view. Nice modern bar in the lobby, AMAZING breakfast. Beds were very comfortable. The hotel itself is located in the most perfect spot, walking distance to several subway stations/restaurants/bars/ etc. Highly recommend for anyone traveling from out of town to Chicago.

One of the best hotel experience my family has ever had. It's located right in center of city and within walking distance to lots of fun activities Chicago has to offer. We will definitely stay there again in the future.

Hate, Hate, Hate, Hate everything about the renovations completed in April 2015. This was an elegant, comfortable and luxurious hotel that has been our favorite Chicago destination for 15 years. The lobby is pathetic. It's like walking into a bar that has a unwelcoming, poorly lit desk in the far corner. You almost need to shout to hear over the din which never ceases. It is often quieter outside on the street than in the lobby. In the words of our teenager, "why would you take the looks of the outside of a building like trump tower and bring it inside. The elevator landings resemble subway platforms (seriously), the rooms have been stripped of desks or chairs and any wall decorations other than a single 2ft montage to bad modern art. The hot tub and sauna in the fitness area have been bricked over (gone), as are the free weights and half the machines in the fitness center. To top it off, the staff is hapless, poorly trained and completely unhelpful. A request for a different room style (any room with the last 2 numbers over 15) is met with dumb looks and reassignment to the wrong room by one staffer and an argument from another claiming ignorance of such a difference. A 10 minute wait for your car means you wait an hour, etc. As a Marriott lifetime platinum elite, I have never had such a disappointing stay. As a business traveller, I would never pay for my staff to stay here. As a regular consumer and tourist of Chicago, I strongly advise that you choose another hotel.

Please don't book this hotel if the outside temperature is less than 68F! Their cooling only turns on if the outside temp is above 68 even if it's 78F inside. I paid 350$ for this room and couldn't sleep all night and when I complained it was 80F in the room they told me to open the windows on 21st floor and sleep in the noise of the cars and EMS vans. Worst experience I hv had.

I stayed here in March while visiting Chicago for my 25th birthday! I loved staying at this hotel. I'd like to thank the staff but especially Matt from the front desk. Matt went above and beyond to make my birthday extra special.

During a valentines weekend trip with my wife to New York, bad weather left us stranded in Chicago for a day. Having no reservations, I called the the first Marriott I came across in a quick Google search. I had no high hopes regarding price since this was a last minute request but I was pleasantly surprised by the price for the room that was available immediately. After a 40 minute taxi ride (traffic) from O'Hare were were in the very well appointed lobby. The staff were extremely courteous and were were given a corner room with a king bed. We were very happy with the room, the bed was extremely comfortable and everything was clean and orderly. The windows in our room were very large and offered good views of the city. The hotel was very nicely situated, with numerous places to eat in and around the building. There is a Starbucks located downstairs which was very nice. It is also located right next to the metro (very convenient) and was pleasantly about a 3 minute walk from the Cloud Gate. Finally the hotel had a car service for transportation back to O'Hare which was much nicer than a taxi. This was my first chance to get out and explore Chicago and it was a wonderful experience. It is not often I am delighted to have had my flight canceled.

Very nice hotel in a great location Downtown. It's pretty central and located right next to the river. Not far from Millenium park, Navy Pier, or Michigan avenue. I stayed here when I came to interview in Chicago a few years ago and had a great experience. Ask for a room facing north so you can check out the great views of the river.

Front desk was very unprofessional and rude. NOTE TO REWARDS MEMBER: Make sure you double check that its your rewards no they have on file so you can get proper credit on the hotel you paid for. Based on our experience, we booked this hotel using our rewards no and prior to check out we noticed a different rewards no was put on file so we informed the front desk and have them changed it. WELL she DIDN'T change it and true enough, upon checked out, we got our bill through email and we noticed our friend's rewards member was still put on file! There is apparently no way for Marriott to secure your rewards no since it can just be changed by anyone! SO DISGUSTING.

Worst experience at a top rated hotel. Poor service awful staff. Over priced and lack of professionalism.

We've always liked this hotel — Great location surrounded by nice restaurants. Everything is superb as you'd expect of a Renaissance. And it is one of the few 4-star hotels in downtown Chicago with a swimming pool. At our last stay, we're upgraded to the concierge floor and we could not believe how big the room and the bathroom were. It's unfortunate that we had to go outside the hotel at all for sightseeing because I could have stayed in the room the whole day. One small, yet important details, they've increased the number of outlets in the room — for once our family of four did not have to fight or, worse, stood next to the bathroom counter to charge/use a laptop.

Can't wait to go back! First time in Chicago, city was beautiful but the cherry one top was our hotel. Prime location and superb service. Joseph at the front played "Hotel Room Jenga" as he jokingly called it and despite our red-eye check in, accommodated us with the perfect room. From that point on I knew that our stay would be flawless. Thanks.

A wonderful experience from start to finish. My husband and I stayed for a night away to celebrate our anniversary. The staff was very helpful and patient as we asked for directions to everything and which places took reservations. So close to amazing restaurants and bars and the view of the river from our room was great! We were able to walk everywhere and enjoy the sights. It was a perfect getaway. We will definitely be back.
