Great historic hotel & dining. You need reservations as they fill quickly for Saturday evening, but if you stay at the hotel, you can have room service. The hotel is very charming and clean!

This was the perfect setting for the wedding of my dreams. The staff was an absolute joy to work with. They did a fabulous job setting up everything exactly the way I wanted. They made my fairytale wedding dream come true.

We were very disappointed in our meal yesterday. I got the $40 filet and I ordered it medium rare. I got well done, so I sent it back, and I got well done again. I was so disappointed about paying $40 for a steak and I didn’t get the temp I wanted. The same was with my fathers steak both times. My husband got cold shrimp and grits. By the time we got our food again we were so hungry that we just ate it. We were there for almost 2 hrs. We will not be going back.

We came as a group of 9 for my parents 40th anniversary and to say we were disappointed is an understatement. Service was extremely slow, only parts of the food we ordered came out and those parts were cold and inedible. The manager on duty gave us every excuse in the book as to why as if we were supposed to be understanding. I would never recommend this restaurant. You all should be ashamed of the service you provided and even more so how you handled it.

I stayed there this past weekend and have nothing but wonderful things to say about my experience! The staff was amazing, the property is beautiful, the bed was the most comfortable I’ve ever slept in truly, our room was very spacious, the amenities are on point, and the restaurant is fabulous. If you’re considering it definitely choose to stay! You won’t regret it. I can’t wait to return!

The Place was nice. Old, but well maintained. Charming. We reserved a two bedroom option but what we got was a normal bed and a rollaway bed. A bit misleading, guys…

I went with two family members for dinner at the restaurant. Our reservation was at 6 pm. After a bit of confusion, we were seated. Our server was Eric and he was friendly and efficient. We enjoyed a pre dinner Martini and the cocktails were delicious. The bartender mixed our drinks perfectly. Next was a serving of spoonbread, which is the long time specialty of the restaurant. It was also fantastic and better than I remember! Dinner was wonderful. Striped bass for two of us and a hot brown for the third person. The server didn't batt an eye at a requested menu change for one of the members of our party. After a second helping of spoon bread, we were too full for dessert. But the entire experience was a total success and we will look forward to our next visit to Boone Tavern!

My husband and I visited the Inn for lunch last week followed by a trip to the log house. We have been going there for over 40 years but due to illness haven’t been in about 5 years. As for lunch it was not up to the standards we have had in the past. I ordered the fried catfish but the breading and the hush puppies was very hard. My husband had the hot brown which had so much cheese sauce and little else. We did not even half of our meal. Thinking this was just a bad day we went shopping looking for a leather purse. When asked the clerk where they were she told us that they did not sell leather due to harming animals and it did not fit with the Beliefs of the school. If that was the case what kind of fish and meat were we eating? We left and will think twice before going again. So sorry but we do have good memories of what it was.

Very beautiful, elegant and historic restaurant. The food was delicious and the atmosphere was delightful. My wife had homemade pimento cheese and I had a wonderful moist piece of catfish. The fluffy spoon bread was a hightlight. However the food took a ridiculous amount of time to bring. Being "on the road" to meet others, we were eating so fast we couldn't enjoy the meal. I asked the waiter to bring the check when we got our entree… I was still waiting after I was finished eating. My wife had a half of a sandwich but we couldn't wait the time to get a box… and we skipped desert (ughh). I could understand if they were slammed, but only about 1/2 full on a Thurs lunch. Because the food was good and the atmosphere, we will try again on the way home to see if this aberrant. If not, 4 stars should drop to 3.

My husband and I were married there Sunday June 3. Everything exceeded our high expectations! The staff was wonderful — very helpful and polite from set up to take down! Sara Couch — was exemplary! Anything I asked was met by her cheerful “ We can certainly do that! ”response!
Our guests mentioned time and time again how much they enjoyed the delicious food. When our prebooked hotel at another location turned out to be unsatisfactory — we returned to Boone Tavern to start our honeymoon. Again, Sara made it memorable!
I wouldn’t hesitate to use BT again for any large function. They give 5 star service at a very reasonable price. We could have gone anywhere to have our ceremony and reception, but we are so very happy to have chosen Boone Tavern!

The new chef at Historic Boone Tavern Hotel & Restaurant of Berea College is AMAZING! He is really changing the Sunday buffet. I was so pleased there was a wide variety of naturally gluten free options today. He offered a wide variety of new options including gluten free corn pudding and a delicious homemade lemon basil sorbet. I am finally excited about Sunday brunch at Boone Tavern! If you haven’t been before or you felt it was always the same old buffet I encourage you to give it a try!

Lovely hotel with an interesting dining room. The town of Berea has lots to offer. This is not only a great place for out of state visitors but it's wonderful for a quick weekend getaway. If you can't come stay at the hotel then definitely come to dine.

My husband and grandson and I just left the dining room at the hotel. My husband had the steak special… a strip steak. He didn't say anything until after we left and then he said it was the toughest steak he has ever tried to eat. The waiter failed to bring a steak knife which I am sure made it more difficult. At $28 for the steak, he had expected much better. Our granddog should enjoy the leftovers. It took about 45 minutes to get our food and none of it was very warm when it arrived. During our wait I drank all of my water and resorted to drinking my grandson's as well. More water was eventually offered but it was way too late. My fried green tomatoes salad was a nice change of pace and very tasty. My grandson ordered the kid's cheeseburger with mayonnaise. The waiter disappeared to get the mayonnaise and after several minutes of waiting I found the kitchen to ask for some mayonnaise from anyone I saw. The waiter returned with it, saying they couldn't find any… really? If this establishment is for training… as I had heard it is… I wanted to share our less than enjoyable dining experience so that improvements can be made. The dining room was not crowded at all so I don't know what the problems were. I hope this helps you correct them for future guests.

Beautiful historic building in walking distance to shops and historic grounds. Great porch and grounds for pictures, lounging, conversation. Located just off campus from berea college. Rooms available for overnight stays. Great conference rooms with delicious dinner options. Coffee shop inside hotel. Restaurant with wonderful food. Also offer mystery show dinners. Staff are friendly and knowledgeable of the town.

Historic setting, but it's staffed by folks that really don't have a passion for the restaurant. Some great food, particularly the shareables. No explanations of the menu, specials, bourbon or wine list from our server. They let us reserve a table for 16, but didn't mention that the kitchen closed 30 minutes after our reservation time. Result was no dessert or after-dinner coffee available for out of town business guests.

It's located in a great town. Lots of art work. College town. Service was great.

Five friends and I attended the Easter buffet, for which we had 1:30 reservations, and I must say it was the most chaotic, disorganized dining experience I have had in many years. Even though we arrived early, we were not seated until about 2:15, and since there was inadequate seating for the large crowd of other people also waiting to be seated, we stood for the entire 45 minutes. No one offered us hors d'oeuvres, or drinks, or apologizes. It took a direct complaint to th…e manager before we were finally seated. Sadly, standing around for 45 minutes even though we were on time for our reservation was not the worst part of our experience. The buffet was set up in the main lobby, and as mentioned before, there was a huge crown milling around waiting to be seated. Those who had already been shown to their tables were shuffling back and forth through a sea of legs and elbows while carrying plates laden with food. There were elderly people with canes, and at least two handicapped individuals with walkers and another in a wheel chair, and it was just an awful situation for them. I suspect if the Fire Marshal had picked that time to stop by, he would have shut the whole thing down. Yes, the food was reasonably good, but it was in no way worth what it took to get some. I will never go back to any event like this at Boone Tavern again. We were all extremely disappointed with our experience.

Very neat little town and a nice Hotel. The Hotel has been well kept and is a "green" hotel. I was hoping to see a ghost but no such luck :) Our room was small but that's as to be expected. I felt safe to walk on the carpet with out shocks, hence the carpet was very clean. The hall ways had fresh lilies which was a very nice touch, as the hallway smelled wonderful.

Super place to lodge and eat! Mr. Fred is the real deal. The food is five-star. Service was great in the dining room. Room was very cozy, clean and comfortable.

The lunch at the restaurant was very good. I had the pulled pork sliders. It was very interesting to read about the tavern hotel, the college that runs it, and its mission. Our servers, who are students at the college, were very nice and attentive. After our lunch, we took some time to walk around the area and see what else the college offers. Overall it was an unexpected and enjoyable experience as we were traveling through Kentucky.

The public areas are nice for a historic hotel. Food was good but in the higher cost side for what you get. The room left a lot to be desired. There must be other rooms that are nicer. Our room was small and the floor was so uneven that the head of the bed was lower that the foot of the bed. No desk or work space in the room. So don't plan to use your laptop.

A very impressive historic hotel. The rooms were quaint, lovely, clean, and well maintained. The front desk and restaurant staff were friendly and welcoming. I only had breakfast at the restaurant, but I had breakfast two mornings of my two night stay because the restaurant was that good.

An unexpected find on a drive through Kentucky. The Tavern is beautiful, filled with history, warm polished wood and authentic pieces of art. The food was amazing. Huge portions, great flavors and stellar service. We'll absolutely be back!

Attended a wedding at the Boone Tavern recently and couldn't understand why anyone would want to hold a wedding at such a facility. It must be a cheap venue. The decor is absolutely horrible, outdated, dirty, and doesn't match any modern wedding trends. The spaces are too small. The hotel room accommodations are uncomfortable (you'd be better off at Motel 6). It's an ugly building. Point blank. It needs to be updated from top to bottom. The bridal party spent 10, 000 dollars on florals, centerpieces, and other decor (and alone they were gorgeous) but it barely helped this disgusting venue. If you aren't spending a lot of money on decor, expect your wedding to be even more AWFUL. Fire your photographer because you won't want photos The food was subpar as well. Most guests didn't finish their meal. Luckily, the bridal party had a dessert bar (from outside pastry chef) to tide us over. I'm sure whatever swill the kitchen would have concocted would have made us vomit. The bride seemed very disappointed with the entire night. What a waste of money.

This is my halfway point to MI. The staff is always friendly and very accommodating. The rooms are, always very clean. I love the fact you have real glasses and coffee cups in your room. I never hear any other guest nice, peaceful, a joy to stay here.

Wonderful dining experience in a truly distinguished setting, harkening back to a bygone era. The food was outstanding, competitive with cuisine we’ve enjoyed in much more cosmopolitan surroundings. Nothing was disappointing with this experience. I encourage anyone considering this as a possible stop on their journey to read the history of Boone Tavern and Berea in order to understand the uniqueness of this dining experience. The service is as fine as the food.

Friendly staff, nice rooms, very comfy place. Had breakfast at the restaurant with the vouchers and it was well worth it! I like that it is a green/efficient hotel while still being nicer than most. Only things I didn't like are the fridge has no adjustment to be turned down so it doesn't freeze things, as well as the lack of clothes iron and board. I was hoping it would have one. Overall, still a very pleasant stay while visiting Berea.

We had our wedding here. The staff was great. The venue is beautiful. The food is amazing. We couldn't have asked for a better experience.

We were a large group of 50. Dinner was fine, service was a little slow and out of order. Loved dessert but got coffee after I was done. And creamer didn't come til 10 minutes after coffee.

As the name tells you, an historic hotel. It has all of the amenities, though. The room I got is small by today's standards, but was perfect for my needs. The staff is friendly and the decor tasteful. The restaurant in the hotel is excellent. Again, tastefully done with an excellent staff and superb menu.

Unique and historic location with great food. The deep fried deviled eggs appetizer is so good it is sinful. Pork chops are the best I have had, highly recommend.

What a wonderful place to stay! The staff was very accommodating and friendly. The room was very nice with very comfortable bed. The best I've ever slept on in a hotel. I sent them an email asking the brand of bed and they gave me a fast reply! I love that it is LEED certified and the body wash and shampoo was wonderful! This was one of the cleanest hotels I've ever stayed at! I will stay there again! Great value for an exceptional hotel with lots of character!

Wonderful! The service was wonderful, the room was lovely, the hotel was beautiful and comfortable, and the restaurant was out of this world. Fantastic service and food, I strongly recommend the poached egg of Autumn. We are already planning a return visit.

Stopped in just to take a look at the hotel lobby and shop. Very nice paintings of Lincoln and Daniel Boone. Interesting to see the history of the building.

We took a group of 100 5th grade studentw to an etiquette lunch. The staff was very nice working our large crowd. I plan to take another group there every year.

My girlfriend and I stopped in for dinner in celebration of her birthday. Our server managed to get my order wrong, and I was brought an entrée that, quite frankly, was one of the least appealing items on the menu to me. Still yet, I ate it and it turned out to be much better than I anticipated. I realized that it was likely an honest mistake, and chose not to complain about the mix-up.

It always felt a little too bougey for my tastes, but I can't deny that it's a nice facility with nice food! Also has one of the best water fountains in downtown — — gotta check it out!

We won a contest from the radio. We were still treated as paying customers. We has room 216. Although the décor was slightly outdated. It was very comfortable and nice. We had dinner and breakfast. Also excellent. I think the prices could be readjusted a tad lower but overall it was a wonderful experience that we otherwise couldn't have afforded.

The Boon Tavern has terrific classy interior decoration, friendly staff. I would definitely recommend it to anyone.

Beautiful hotel, very quant. Clean and nice room. If I were staying for more than one day I would like a small cooler in the room… but that's me. Helpful staff. The restaurant was very pricey for what you got. The 30 dollar steak would have been overpriced at 15. It was'nt terrible but I've had much better for much less. I would suggest eating elsewhere.

Anytime in Kentucky, visiting and staying at Boon Tavern in Berea has been a pleasure to look forward to for the last 30+ years. Now with kids and grandchildren in Atlanta and Berea half way, we do make sure to make time to taste the best Kentucky has to offer. Another round trip coming soon for the New Year 2013 celebration.

We loved the motel and the staff were wonderful. We did have issues however. The breakfast was terrible. We went to the rest. Around 9am and found the food cold, not prepared well and unbelievably if you want toast with a basic breakfast you have to order it separate! My omelet was the worst I have ever had. Too bad, I loved the dining room. I was scared to try any other meal there.
