You would think the real gem of this place would be the history and beautiful decor, but the true treasure is the staff here. AMAZING! Jim, Derrick, and Christine made us feel like family, they were gracious and accommodating to our every request. They were deeply knowledgeable and helpful with recommendations for food/entertainment. They were so great to converse with, we found ourselves going downstairs just to chat with them. We didn’t want to leave the hotel. In my opinion, this is the best place to stay in Savannah.

Beautiful and cozy atmosphere. The staff were amazing. Derek checked us in and he was super nice, friendly, and very helpful. He even gave us restaurant recommendations. Overall we had an amazing experience and will definitely be staying there again.

Aside from the fact that the Inn is stunningly beautiful and is in the perfect location in the middle of the historic district, the level of service and personal attention you get is amazing. Derek treats every guest like a celebrity, he goes out of his way to make your stay outstanding. I would not consider anyplace else for my next visit!

We were so pleased with everything. We were the on a Valentine's Vacation and they we able to furnish the rose petals, champagne, strawberries dipped in chocolate. Every evening we enjoyed tea time and every night a glass of sherry.

Beautiful Inn, great furnishings, tea and sandwiches at 4PM, sherry at 8 PM… my kind of place! Great location, lots of Resturant’s and pubs close by!

The Old South with all the Southern Charm of be located right in the middle of all Savannah has to offer. The decor is beautiful, the rooms spacious, and the working fireplace with gas adds a comfy atmosphere. The staff is welcoming as are the other guests. Jennifer Salandi, the owner. It's St. Patrick's Day Weekend, and we're ideally located a block from the parade route, and four block west of River Street. Everything is within walking distance. They also had parking passes. We're having a blast!

My husband and I stayed at the Ballastone for our 5 year anniversary. What a wonderful treat! The staff was attentive and took care of our every need. The house is one of the most beautiful places I've ever seen. Can't wait to sneak away for another romantic weekend at the Ballastone!

It was okay. Over all there services was not great. The breakfast situation was mediocre at best. The place was nice, the rooms were nice, but it is definitely not a 5 star place.

This little Inn will exceed all expectations. The rooms are beautiful. The staff is fabulous. The breakfasts are amazing. Wonderful location, within easy walking distance of river, squares and fabulous dining. We had no issues parking. We would highly recommend the Ballastone Inn.

Fantastic place! The staff is really wonderful, the rooms are beautiful and I especially loved the afternoon tea. Delicious little sandwiches and goodies — all home made!

We spent 4 nights here and the only drawback was street noise from late night and early morning traffic. Take a white noise generator or get a room on the back side of the inn. Staff was friendly and helpful. High tea every afternoon and evening snack along with sherry/port tastes. Only off street parking is with a handicap plate and we didn’t bring one with us. You can purchase a 24 hour dashboard pass for $15 or a 24 hour pass for $24. The pass is good anywhere in the historic district and is valuable. Without one you must pay $2/hr for a 12 hour per day period. Parking in Savannah is mediocre.

My wife and I celebrated our 1 year anniversary this weekend in Savannah and stayed here at the Ballastone with the Romance Package. Everything about this place was perfect! Friendly staff, gorgeous decor, great breakfast and snacks. The Port & Sherry is delicious. We very much enjoyed our stay and cannot wait to plan our next trip back! If you're planning a trip to Savannah, the Ballastone Inn should be at the top of your list of places to stay!

The absolute best staff of any where I've ever been and the Ballastone is more than 5 star. I would recommend the China Tade suite it's the bomb. I feel incredibly pampered made all reservations for me and transportation can't say enough good things about this place and the staff. Thanks for making it awesome as always.

Went to high tea with a friend. We were both hoping to have a bit of an intro to the history and ritual of tea, but they just seated us at a table with treats and let us be. Still, the place was beautiful. Some folks chatted with us and showed us their room, which was stunning.

Great place to stay! Warm friendly staff. Good breakfast with some extras. Full afternoon tea, evenings appetizers, late night port or Sherry wine all included. A chocolate each night on your pillow. Very quiet.

I visited Savannah October, 2017 and stayed at the Ballastone. I had a very disturbing, upsetting experience with the owner. When I first arrived, I enquired about a larger vacant room that was available. I asked if my friend and I could have the room since it was not occupied. I specifically asked if this would be a complimentary upgrade and was told YES by an employee. Upon checkout, we were charged for the upgrade which was a total shock! Essentially, we were called liars — that we were never told the upgrade would be complimentary. This was highly unprofessional and unethical. I have traveled the world over for decades and stayed in the most lavish hotels. I have never been treated like this before. It was disgraceful. Although the Inn is very pretty and historic, although dirty, I would not recommend this hotel to anyone. If you want to be treated with respect and dignity, DO NOT VISIT THE BALLASTONE!

My fiancé proposed at the Ballastone a couple weeks ago! It was such a surprise — the Ballastone is as beautiful on the outside as on the inside! I enjoyed every bit of my stay: tea time, complimentary port and sherry, and the breakfast was superb! The courtyard is also beautiful. The staff did a great job making sure the proposal and our stay was perfect! Shout-out to Samantha for taking pictures of the proposal and keeping it a secret all night! We cannot wait to go back.

One of the few places open to take in refugees from Irma. Our experience couldn't be better. We are treated as both royalty and family. The appointments are lovely in this fine historic house. Ruby does an extraordinary job in the kitchen with beautiful tasty creations for breakfast. A lovely experience.

My husband and I stayed for a long weekend and could not be happier! The location is great, close to everything. The Inn is beautiful inside and out. The staff is super friendly and helpful. Parking wasn't a problem as there is parking behind the Inn and street parking is free on weekends. We will definitely stay again!

Perfect Savannah B&B. You're greeted at the door in true Southern fashion. Staff was excellent and very knowledgeable. The breakfast was top of the line and the bar in the evening has great drinks. Highly recommend!

The Inn was beautifully decorated, our room (Mary Musgrove) was awesome. We can't say enough about the staff they were all phenomenal! Pampered us like a king and queen. I was always up before anyone in the house and they always had me fresh coffee made, breakfast was great. Everything was great! We will definitely be back!

My wife and I came here for a weekend getaway, we are from Kennesaw GA so just wanted a short weekend trip. Upon arrival we were shown to our room and at first we were impressed by how nice the look of the Ballastone was and how friendly the staff was. However the longer we stayed the more issues we noticed. First the good, friendly and attentive staff and beautiful aesthetic are what added a star to a 1 star. Now i'll explain the negatives. First I was told I could have a DVD player so at night my wife and I could watch some movies that I had brought, when we got there I was told they only had one and someone had reserved it. Secondly, the T. V. In the room was extremely small which made watching very difficult plus we had to prop the T. V. Up because the table it sat on was so low at the foot of the bed. Thirdly, the bed was as hard as a rock as well as the blankets and pillows, so even though we were exhausted it was difficult to fall asleep. Fourthly to add to the sleeping difficulty the walls were paper thin and we could hear every footstep and sound from above us. Lastly I have to mention their tea times, finger foods and breakfast. They were all mediocre. The eggs were very runny for the one mornings breakfast but the other morning we had pecan waffles that were actually pretty good. All in all I would not recommend the Ballastone Inn for the price we were charged.

We enjoyed our stay in the China Trade room. The breakfasts and high teas were very tasty and relaxing in a beautiful atmosphere. The bed was especially comfortable and my husband would like to know where we can buy some sheets like the luxurious ones on which we slept so well. Our location could not have been better being right next to the Juliet Lowe House with parks just around the corner and restaurants all around. I liked the fact that this is a town for walking and that is what many people did. The staff at the inn was very gracious and helpful in every way which made us feel right at home.

Best stay we have had anywhere. Great staff. Fabulous breakfast. Nightly gatherings if you want. Beautiful hotel. In a convenient location to the Savannah squares or the river. Will stay again if in Savanah! This hotel and all of Savannah were the most polite people we have ever encountered!

Great service, everyone was friendly answerded every questiong with a smile… Also walking distance from all the local stores and nightlife.

My husband and I stayed at the Ballastone Inn during Halloween weekend. The location couldn't be better! We could walk to dinner, to the different squares, and to go shopping. The staff was more than accommodating, and very friendly! They will go above and beyond to meet your expectations. The room we had was very pretty, and the bed super comfy. Breakfast was great in the garden, but unfortunately we weren't around for tea time or their hors d'oeuvres. I definitely recommend the Ballastone Inn. We will be back!

What a fabulous Bed & Breakfast! From the moment you walk in, the staff is very welcoming and helpful. This is definitely "old Savannah charm". They helped us find a great place to eat and listen to live music our 1st night in. And 2nd day, they helped get us into a busy restaurant by making reservations for us. Oh — and complimentary breakfast was wonderful both days! I've never had such fluffy scrambled eggs! So good — great way to start the day! Thank you to the wonderful staff for making our stay feel like we were at home — only better — I didn't have to make the bed!

Just came back from a wonderful three day in beautiful Savannah, staying at the gorgeous Ballastone Inn. From the moment we arrived at 1am as we drove from Atlanta, we were met with smiling, happy faces which continued our entire stay. We stayed in Scarlett's retreat which is cosy, quaint and romantic. You can just imagine the history that took place in the house. The fixtures, the furniture is all reminiscent of a time long ago. The breakfast and afternoon tea are a must. You cannot get a better location in Savannah, perfect to walk everywhere, we did not touch our car the entire stay. We shall be returning one day to The Ballastone Inn, thanks to all the staff there! Such a wonderful place. Beautiful building and rooms, amazing service, great food, great drinks. Very relaxing stay. The staff could not have been nicer. Melissa, Libby, Kirsten, Nathan, and of course Jennifer were all wonderful. Room was perfect, bathroom was large and very comfortable, great bed. Slept peacefully. The room was quiet at night. Such a great place. We will returning again soon. This trip was perfect, great recommendations from the staff on things to do, places to eat, history of the area. So much fun. Breakfast was great every morning. High Tea, Happy Hour. We kept looking forward to getting back to the Inn. Amazing trip, Savannah is wonderful.

This place was great the wife and I had a great time. Super nice and helpful staff (shout-out to Kara, even if she didn't think I could get in). Breakfast was great, rooms where CLEAAAN, only knock was the port wine and sherry (port wine and sherry are gross, they just are that's not their fault per se but why serve it? ) High Tea was a favorite for my wife. Having never been to Savannah before the local knowledge of the staff was crucial. All that to say if you're gonna drop this kinda money on a room and not stay at the Ballastone you're blowing it. ….

My girlfriend and I just returned from a superb stay at the Ballastone Inn. What away to celebrate my 50th birthday! All B&B staff members were awesome! They were very gracious and attended to our every need. We also salute the chefs. All of the food was delicious and presented nicely. The inn was beautifully decorated including the (Mulberry Tulips suite). The room was spacious and the bed itself was worth every penny! Thank you for making our stay very memorable and fabulous! A fantastic place! The hotel is just superb with very accommodating and attentive staff, definitely an excellent example of 5 stars. The uniqueness of the hotel along with period furnishings adds a nice touch, and add to that a lot of little included extras such as tea, hors d'oeuvres and port/sherry at different points in the evening really elevate the whole experience. Likewise, breakfast was very nice. The proximity being walking-distance to everything, made sure that we'll be back.

I recently stayed at the ballastone inn for labor day weekend. It was such a great stay! the staff was very friendly and accommodating and the room was well appointed and comfortable (sorgum cane). The decor throughout the whole establishment was well done and really added to the "southern" feel. My friend and I really enjoyed tea time and breakfast was always prompt and yummy. Excellent location and walking distance from all the good restaurants and tourist attractions. I would definitely stay here again and recommend the ballastone to anyone.

We are “locals” of sort, living just across the Savannah River in Bluffton, SC. We love Savannah and often spend the day walking the squares and treating ourselves to ice cream at Leopold’s. We decided to treat ourselves to a stay at this lovely and welcoming inn for our anniversary. Even though my husband isn't a fan of bed and breakfasts, it was his idea to stay here. He felt very at home here because it is very relaxing and not “stuffy”; you eat in the common areas at tables that are set for two; and the delicious food, although very nice and beautifully presented (blackberries and raspberries included with the fresh fruit, for example), was not so highly spiced and the type of “fru, fru” food that only a woman would enjoy. Even though the inn had many occupied rooms, we often were able to enjoy the parlor, bar area, and adjacent garden by ourselves. Be sure to take time in the evening to enjoy the Johnny Mercer music in the parlor, sipping the complimentary port – we both really enjoyed that. Afternoon tea and before dinner hors d’oeuvres just really added to the charm. The staff: Melissa is wonderful!, Sidney, Kirsten, and all the others go out of their way to make your stay memorable. Located on Oglethorpe St. The inn is perfectly located for walking the squares all the way up to Forsythe Park, as well as down to River Street. I think it is also very near one of the trolley stops (tourist trolleys).

Beautiful B&B with great hospitality. Even though our requested room was not available due to a mechanical problem with the chandelier, we were immediately upgraded to a suite and provided with a gift certificate for a future stay in our requested room. Afternoon tea and breakfast were both wonderful.
