Unfortunately, what we hoped to be a relaxing weekend getaway turned into a miserable evening cut short. We were excited to discover a hidden gem just a short drive from home, a place we could spend weekends as a family relaxing and having fun. Firstly, there was no mention when booking of a $40 a night hold on top of an $8 resort fee but not a huge deal. Secondly, the room was miserably hot! Dead middle of the summer in Florida and the AC was broken. Interestingly enough housekeeping had left the ceiling fans going full force which makes be think that they were aware of the AC being out but that's all speculation.
So, here we were after a long walk from the beach, we were ready to cool down and relax, we ordered dinner to be delivered and once we got to our room we were in misery from the heat. I called the front desk, they said they'd send maintenance, an hour went by and nothing, I called again, they said maintenance would be there shortly. Finally maintenance arrives, after about 30 minutes of tinkering still no AC, temperature continued to rise, my 5 yr old growing weary, then the very sweaty maintenance man says I'm going to need to go to the roof, I'll let you know the outcome, if I cannot fix it, we might be able to get you in another room. So here we wait, again, by now it's after 8pm, still hadn't eaten dinner, who can eat while sitting in a sauna! Ultimately we couldn't take it anymore and requested a refund and checked out. We were offered a new room but at this point it was too late to salvage the night I would suggest this type of situation be handled differently in the future, it was clear that other rooms were available, accommodations should have been made immediately instead of having guests sit, wait and deal with a maintenance man. It was almost unfathomable that we were paying good money for the situation. I wish our stay would have worked out, my daughter was very sad to leave as she was looking forward to swimming the next day but we are now nestled at home where the AC works.
