My 2nd time staying here, my fiances 3rd. Stayed for a weekend this time, a full week last. Rooms are always clean and comfortable and service is always great. Checking in is effortless and stress-free and Carl the Cat is the best groundskeeper
if you go for breakfast or anything make sure to take Quarters for the kitty treat vending machine! He's so sweet ❤

This place is cool! It is rustic and has a awesome feel to it. It feels more like you're staying with friends than at a hotel. The owners and staff were all very nice and I really enjoyed morning coffee and evening tea… visiting with them in front of the fire. If you are looking for something with a ton of charm and character this is your place! I would stay here again in a heartbeat!

After 16 years, my husband, Kab, and I were so excited to be able to finally take a vacation. We planned this vacation for months and months and really looked forward to it. Unfortunately, we made a seven-day reservation at The Spruce Lodge. Our first disappointment after reserving a king/queen combination room was being e-mailed just a few days before leaving for our trip that the room was no longer available. That just wasn't right, and we should have been able to get ou…t of our reservation at that point. Why bother making a reservation? When we walked into our room, it was quickly evident that the floor had not been vacuumed, the sink was dirty and the room was not comfortable at all. The small slatted table and chairs were uncomfortable to sit in and try to eat on. It belonged outside, not inside. The floor was never vacuumed while we were staying there nor was the sink ever cleaned. We had to practically beg for some toilet paper. The refrigerator froze all of the food that we had brought with us. When it was replaced, the microwave did not fit on top of it, and if you tried to use it, it would fall off of the side. The toilet leaks, and we were afraid that it would get worse while we were there. We reported it, but I don't believe anything was done; it was still dripping. The sink really smells bad; must have something stopped up.

Worst place we have been to in all our travels! False advertising, Nothing open including the hotel this morning which tells me they don’t care. Restaurant was closed, sink didn’t drain! Lady at the desk was less than friendly and interested that we needed the facility we thought we were getting. No microwave in our room even though it was advertised. Never will return!

We really enjoyed our stay! We arrived and the people in our cabin left too late so we were upgraded to a two bedroom with a mini kitchenette. The cabin had Direct TV and we were stoked about that. Most cabins we have stayed in previously didn’t. They even had a free continental breakfast! Right next door was a breakfast restaurant in the same building, I’ve heard it was the best food, but due to time restraints we werent able to eat there. Dee was always available on her cel…l! The hot tub was trashed by some previous clients and they had it drained, cleaned and up and running the very next evening. We ate at Two Rivers BBQ and it was awesome! The owner, I believe his name was Tyler, was super awesome! Very welcoming, even gave us some goodies to go home with! I was hesitant about staying in south fork because we have always stayed in pagosa, but it was well worth it. There are only 3 or 4 restaurants in the town, but you will get the best service and you won’t have to wait an hour like you do in pagosa. The only thing I would recommend would be a mattress topper on the bed. It was a little springy. Other than that I really enjoyed our stay. The owners of the spruce and surrounding restaurants were extremely nice! We will definitely be returning I would recommend this place if you are planning on staying in south fork for sure!

Dee went above and beyond to allow my Buster to stay. The breakfast was wonderful. Hotel location was cool rustic looking but updated. I absolutely loved it and the price was much better than expected for the area. Thank you Dee for saying the bbq next door would be good too. It was.
