So friendly with doggies and kids. Great atmosphere.

Perfect hotel for dogs and plenty of areas to walk dogs. Quiet location and pool is big for families during the day and open till 10 PM for adults later. Pool was heated to what felt like 80 degrees during our stay. Fire pits where on near pool.

Very cute it looks just like the pics which we know doesn’t always happen. Staff is very friendly, the grounds are beautiful.

Recently visited the Goodland from east coast for a large family wedding. There were issues the whole time. Reservations were a mess but we were hopeful one we got here The WORST hotel in a beautiful place. Completely inhospitable and way over priced. Matt, the restaurant manager is so incredibly rude, self important and unaccommodating. The rooms are old and noisy. It’s a motel that they slapped some cute decor on and thinks that justified $300/night. Kimpton management needs to take a long hard look at the service here for their reputation. We will NEVER stay nor recommend this hotel to anyone. Save your self the trouble and stay ANYWHERE else.

Stayed for one night. Got a double bed room. The room was neat and I love their shower products. The staff are very welcoming and you can't beat the location as everything is available within walking distance.

Great remodeled motel. Rooms were nicely decorated and common areas were great. A/c was incredibly loud but we actually liked the white noise as you can hear people outside the rooms easily. They had a 26 dollar a day resort fee that it felt like they were trying to hide as they take it out of the damages deposit, don't mention it at check in, and everything that is listed on their website that the fee covers was included anyways. Other than those issues I'd definitely stay again.

I love coming here for happy hour, brunch, or dinner. The food and drinks are great and the ambiance is awesome. I had a little time before I met up with a friend so I was able to connect to their Wi-Fi and do some work while enjoying a cocktail.

Came for drinks by the pool. Many people don't realize but you can go in the pool even if you're not an overnight guest. The drinks are pricey but you're paying for the poolside service. The inside bar is pretty sweet in of itself. Free pool, live music in the evenings, and plenty of comfy seating. The 70s beach house ambience is perfect for SB. Highly recommend jumping in the pool during summer as the beaches here just don't get as hot as in So Cal.

This hotel is just stunning. Big and nicely decorated room makes me feel like home. All the amenities are state of the art. I loved the central garden and pools with all those exotic plants. The on site restaurant is also amazing and they deliver food to your room. Environment is also very quiet which I appreciate. Front desk guys are very attentive. Had a nice stay in here!

This was such a perfect spot! The hospitality staff was beyond amazing. The hotel is kid and pet friendly while still having a very hip and modern environment. We loved the room, private patio and vinyl player in every room with vinyls in the rooms. This is the place to stay!

The Goodland was an amazing hotel for a one night stay in Santa Barbara for a visit we made to see a concert at the Santa Barbara Bowl. Great atmosphere. Great pool. Great restaurant. Friendly staff. Comfy bed.

Hip and fun. I love that the rooms have sound machines and yoga mats so you can stretch out after a long sunny day, and who doesn't love Kimpton's wine hour? The pool was so relaxing. Good sushi like 1.4 miles away. Skip the breakfast, except for the coffee and the cold-pressed juices, which are expensive and delicious. Welcome to California!

Good, cute hotel. Good location. Probably not good enough to justify the high price, though (~$239 a night). The record store is tiiiiiiiiny. Rooms are pretty good, not particularly special in any way. Cafe is good.

Nice rooms, but the walls are pretty thin. And since parking is right outside your door, we got woken up a couple of times during the night by the car lights of people coming back and parking right outside a window… They have a nice guest happy hour from 5 to 6:00 p. M. That was a way to start of our evening before going out to eat…

Beware of the rooms with windows… on the parking. Straight down motel vibe, for this price, was kind of crazy. There was hairs in the bathtub and on a pillow, probably not properly changed. Thank god we only stayed one night. Rooms are nice otherwise, but you would never guess from the picture that you will basically be looking into the parking, people passing by and all. It was convenient to get things out of the cars, though ;)

Oh my goodness. Not only is the Goodland stunningly beautiful but the service is first rate. We checked out this morning and after a long drive to Monterey we have just discovered that we had left behind our carry on suitcase. With turning around not an option the lovely lady at check in has organised the case to be shipped to us at our accomodation in San Francisco in a few days. I am now at ease after a very stressful hour knowing our belongings will get back to us being that we are from Australia. I can't thank the Goodland enough for exceptional service not only during our stay but also after our stay! Would highly recommend to anyone looking at staying.

Super cute boutique surf hotel! All of the little details made the environment so unique. Record players and records were included in every room for free. Also super close to downtown shops and restaurants. Only downside was check-in and check-out speed. They lost our reservation and made us wait for 20 minutes before just giving us a room: (All in all, such a fun hotel, will definitely be returning if we are return to Santa Barbara and would definitely recommend.

Sleeping or whatever you want with a surf aesthetic, the Goodland (double room on €155) is the most trendy thing in the area. Bathe in your pool and savor some dish from your bistro.

It should be called the Greatland. My wife and I along with our dog Nilla loved the Goodland. We have stayed in over 25 different Kimpton hotels and none are like this. Yes, it is an old building but the renovation was great. The rooms are well appointed and very comfortable. Everyone that we met was great. Zico welcomed us at the front desk with a local beer at check in. He was very friendly and helpful. We had room 102, 104 which is a great suite. I was a little worried that it might be loud as it is right by the delicious restaurant Outpost and at the front of the building. It turns out there was no need to worry and it was very quiet and calm. We slept like babies. I love that you can park your own vehicle here and there is plenty of grass for our four legged family member. The wine hour in the living room was great and Japrese was awesome. Later in the evening after a delicious dinner and drinks at Outpost we relaxed by the fire pits. We though some s’mores might be nice as we sat by the fire. Just as I was about to head to the store I checked in with Japrese and she grabbed some s’mores kits for us. It’s little touches like this that make Kimpton so special. At checkout we saw Zico and Japrese again. They are both hardworking and great Kimpton employees. Thanks for a great stay, we will be back.

A dressed up motel in what appears to be an old Motel 6. Don't understand how this is a Kimpton. And why are we charged a resort fee? Where's the golf course, conference room, spa, etc… Go to the Best Western next door… ADDED AFTER RESPONSE FROM MANAGEMENT **The response I received from management has nothing to do with the actual issue, which is what I didn't want to publicly post about. Being a business owner in the special events industry, I appreciate great design and style and was very impressed with the lobby, bars and design of each room. This hotel is trendy and is branded extremely well. So the response I received was more insulting than anything, since management knows exactly what this situation was. They know it has nothing to do with the design of the place. The issue I had was the absolutely filthy dirty floor that, after I called to have cleaned on day 1, I began to clean myself, since they did nothing more than Swiffer. On day 2 I cleaned a few feet in front of the door with a towel and shower soap and was so disgusted by the fully brown towel. I called and they remedied the situation but it should NEVER have been grimy to begin with. No one should have to walk around the room in your shoes. Thanks for the refunded "resort fee". Just because this is a Kimpton doesn't automatically mean it's a resort. Bs. Friendly staff (hotel hospitality — would you expect anything else?

The hotel is essentially a motel. It has wafer thin walls so consequently is fairly noisy. There are no tea/coffee facilities in the room. The shower has a very old head, so the water rather dribbles out. The room is a good size and the bed fairly comfortable. The ok but low end budget accommodation.

Went for an office Holiday party. Had to order at the bar but food was delivered to me and was delicious. Some of us shared it was ALL good. The decor is mid century modern boho. Very fun and funky. The servers were nice and the choices not bad. Lots of local brews and wines. In all a nice casual place.

This hotel really has a cute vibe and is decorated very well. The food and drinks are great at both the Good Bar and Outpost. Employees are all very friendly here and are very willing to help. The walls here are a bit thin. So you can definitely hear what is going on next to you.

So torn about this place! Such a cool vibe, smores nights… record players… beautiful decor BUT our bathroom needed a serious update. As well as a couple other things like the doors to each room. It was a really fun place though and we able to take our dog everywhere.

Stands with the camper on the side of the road. Could stand there without any problems.

Rooms very light polite. In rooms with an intermediate door you can hear the neighbors.

Our room was probably quite old.

Hotel makes a good impression at first glance, unfortunately the price performance ratio is not right and there are a few things you simply have to mention. You pay here for everything extra, W-Lan costs 12$ plus the day, the free Jogakurz can only be taken with you if you buy the isomatte for 45$. Staff emptied the bin every night (9pm) around the hotel, making a hellish noise. The drain in the bath has stank for rotten eggs. And the "gym" consists of 2 treadmills, a cross trainer and about 5 dumbbells. The climate appliances in the rooms are so loud that you can hardly sleep. Food was good, but you don't get price.

First review I've ever left because of how negative my experience was. To start with the only positive comment, the vibe, sans the people who work the lobby, was really great and it was also off the track from downtown. Onto the negative: Front desk staff not friendly nor helpful and borderline rude. Room view is a parking lot. All this for 389 a night after summer is over. You can definitely do much better. Also, talked to the supervisor about my frustrations; not any more polite or accommodating. Please look elsewhere if you are on the fence because it's likely you'll regret staying here.

Wonderful hotel a little outside of Santa Barbara. Great for families and for people with dogs — as it's welcoming of pups. Fun bar and restaurant, plus a good pool. My only concern is that the rooms get a little loud during the day, as they all orbit the pool. But hopefully you'll be napping pool side, not indoors.

The menu is ambitious but doesn't deliver for the price. The best thing I have eaten there is a hamburger that's not on the regular menu. Drinks are tiny and exceedingly expensive with little punch, I had a margarita without any hint of tequila. More generous drinks, more crowd pleasers on the menu, and it could be really good. But as it stands there are better options with much better prices.

I would rarely ever stay in Goleta for any reason, but I was attending a festival just a few miles away, so why not? I'd heard about this hotel, and it sounded kind of retro funky. And it was! The pool was apparently 'the scene' with DJ music blaring until 5-6 pm (pool service was marginal, but acceptable). Which was so loud, it made it impossible to listen to the toy turntables they had in the rooms (but I did manage to borrow Pink Floyd's Animals, and the Carpenter's Close to You). You could tell that their target market was Millennials and they apparently nailed that market, as the place was crawling with them. But that made me wonder, are Millennials wealthy? In my experience, not so much. I had a great time at the hotel. The room was comfy, though a tad small, restaurant meals were delish and reasonably priced. The only time I balked, the whole weekend, was ordering wine on the last night. I would have loved to order a bottle of the Peachy Canyon Zinfindale but the price was $44. I buy this wine every day at Trader Joes for $9. That's a 450% markup over RETAIL! There is a Trader Joes just a mile up the road from the motel, so, I had a single glass for $12, but it still ruined the meal. To get a poolside room with a (very small) patio, I paid a premium of about $370 a night. Later, I thought, 'Really? You could have rented a Spa King Suite at the Sycamore Canyon Spa in Avila Beach with a private deck and mineral spring tub, for the same amount! ' What was I thinking?!

Excellent place to stay. Front desk will greet you with a cup of local beer after you checked in. Very friendly and knowledgable about places to do in the area. Our host Judi was excellent, and got us everything we needed for the night. Room are very contemporary and clean. High recommend those who are coming to Santa Barbara to check out and stay at this hotel.

Saturdays at the pool bar are so much fun. Good music, good drinks (try the "Day Drinker" — a tasty vodka watermelon concoction). Staff is super nice.

Nice place, but not upscale as advertised, the rooms they are relatively small and the bathrooms are not very user-friendly. Having said that if you're looking for a quick Road side trip it's a quaint space. They are dog friendly which is both a positive and a negative as people with not well trained dogs, can keep you up at night. Also the walls are relatively thin so I would recommend if you were staying here staying towards the corner of the hotel as to share minimum same wall space with other guests. However the place is very clean and the staff are very friendly it is also relatively easy to get around Santa Barbara while staying here has everything seems to be within 20 minutes.

Every room has a record player and you can borrow vinyls to play in your room! Really cool looking hotel, nice comfy beds and very friendly staff. They're dog friendly and have complimentary coffee in the morning, breakfast is not included though.

If I was rating this hotel on design and decor only it would exceed a 5 star… the attention to detail is inspiring and beautiful! It's a boho girls dream ✨ Unfortunately, they do not give the same attention to customer service. Our shower pressure had zero pressure… we called to get fixed or change rooms, but nobody did anything. I arrived at the pool at 1pm 7/17… there was one gentleman man working the pool service. He would take one persons order… the go get it… then that same chair would order something else… then he would go back… he wasn't taking a round each time he took orders. I was out there a hour and not even spoke to once… so I moved chairs… he still did not stop. I finally went to bar and asked for a menu. He finally admitted he forgot about me twice… it was a Monday and not packed to be waiting an hour and half for a drink and salad. He's aditude was poor and he acted like he hated his job and anyone who wanted to order something. And really $5 for a donut that's not even good. I think you can do better @thegoodlandsb.

What a cool place! The rooms are clean, comfortable and very cleverly themed. Even a functional turntable with vinyl albums in the room. Nice pool. Excellent bar with outside seating, fantastic appetizers and great service. Very retro/surfer appearance! We would definitely go again!

These people have the rudest staff. My organization had a banquet here and they charged us over 3, 000 for the space which was outdoor next to a swimming pool and the actual hotel rooms. During our event there were children swimming and the guests would watch us. This made it extremely uncomfortable and the space itself was extremely small. The catering had THE WORST food possible so much so the guests attending our banquet didn't want to eat and they charged an arm and a leg for drinks! The lights they charged 500 for were subpar and weren't even worth 50 let alone 500. The staff manager was rude as well and refused to greet us as an org and had an attitude the entire time. DO NOT RESERVE THIS PLACE FOR YOUR NEEDS and if you do and decide it's not for you they charge a 2500 cancellation fee.

The hotel is just a few minutes off of the freeway in sleepy Goleta. There are two bars and during the summer months there's a nice patio that opens up to one of the bars. They have an extensive list of spirits and the goodbar bartenders are very much above average.

Gotta be honest, the record player was the nicest touch. However this place has an amazing bar and drink menu. Entirely top rate. The feel of this place is like a set of bungalows, with relatively swanky rooms that match that theme at least. As mentioned they outfit each room with a record player and a consistently good set of vinyl records to play. It's really an entirely unique and memorable touch. The common areas are cool too with a beach house type game/billiards room and a cozy little restaurant off of the pool area. Would recommend for a weekend in Santa Barbara for sure.

I've been at the Goodland a few times, most recently a company holiday party. In general, the atmosphere is great. Solid food and a good drink selection. I loved the desserts I got. The party was also a great thing because they were very easy to work with and allowed us to get a lot of what we were hoping for!

The people were really friendly and helpful. I felt like they were always willing to help me out. The hotel was close to UCSB and the beach but little ways away from Santa Barbara proper. Still it was a short trip to get to SB from Goleta (where the hotel is). Rooms had a cool retro beach vibe. It was fun but no coffee maker. They did give free in the morning though. Overall a pretty solid hotel.

Decent place to stay. Room renovations are good. Needs free Wifi something like $12/day is stupid when you can go sit at a Starbucks for free. Very young vibe. Music is loud at night, which is cool and fun if on vacation. Not so great if you worked all day and wanna unwind.

Super hip place with a younger vibe. Lots of little touches like record players in the room mixed with obvious oversights like really bad carpets. Super friendly staff, full of character, worth a trip. Would be 5 starts if the Wi-Fi was free. Paid 235 for a King room for the night, which was a reasonable rate for a holiday weekend. Definitely coming back.

This place is gross. I would not recommend ever. I paid over $425 for this hotel and it was ridiculous. The carpets are so foul. Very stained and gross. And it's probably pee from the dogs that they allow at this hotel. The rate I paid was $359/night which is absurd. I was expecting this luxe place from the pictures and there was definitely some false advertising going on. There is a $28 "resort fee" that they charge your card after the fact. I heard that the 1st floor had new wood floors, but I was on the 2nd floor and it was gross. Stay at the Hampton Inn or what ever its called, they offer a free breakfast, cheaper rates, and nicer room. This was a costly mistake on my part. Goodluck.

Great place to relax or meet with friends for drinks and dinner. Multiple outdoor fire pits and sitting areas to relax with a great pool in the center. Whiskey drinks are top notch! Will be back soon.

Chic, Sexy and Fun. Had a blast on my first trip to the Goodland. Even if you don't love art, you have to appreciate the work Keegan Gibbs and Daniel Fuller throughout the property. From the surfboards in the lobby bar to design of my room, felt like a chic boutique 'endless summer' type vibe. + a no brainer and much needed for Santa Barbara. Finally, a cool and trendy hotel to sleep, eat and drink at! Excited to go back.

An old La Quinta-esque motel converted into a >$200/per night Kimpton. Same room layout, sink in the room, individual ACs humming, and the overall motel feel with wrap-around parking. The interior lobby is nice, but the setting is right next to the freeway, at the end of a suburban strip mall. Makes me wonder if anyone from Kimpton Corporate had actually seen the site and the building before it was purchased. Perhaps they will be profitable, given the crappy, overpriced lodging options in the Santa Barbara area and enough well-to-do UCSB parents, but it really hurts the Kimpton brand. Just stop by The Canary downtown, for a contrast. It just does not make sense.

This place was great. Clean, hip, fun, and newly renovated. Just hit the spot. People were super friendly too, going out of their way to please. Not sure why others' experiences varried, maybe renos weren't yet complete? It is more of an upscale motel, but thought that was great: a hub around the pool. A bit pricey, but quite reasonable for the area.

Avoid this place at all costs. Rude people at the front desk. Trailer. They have major construction going on and they don't care about the guests during this time frame. They are still charging full price per room ($200.00) per night. Good luck contacting the front desk from your hotel phone. It doesn't work. No breakfast. No coffee. They expect guests to accommodate their renovation. They should discount room rates so we can put up with it. I'm pissed. What a nightmare. Can't post this comment without giving it at least one star and they don't even deserve that. What a joke.
