I stayed here back in April. It’s not in the greatest neighborhood but the artwork on the buildings surrounding it are awesome. Very basic and a little overpriced for what was on offer. There was cigarette burns on the bathroom sink. Staff weren’t exactly helpful when asked for directions. There’s a homeless shelter next door and also the cops showed up for someone sleeping in their car in the back car park. Would I stay again, possibly not.

While we booked this hotel very last minute and know it is a 2 star hotel and did not expect much from the room and there were little things that happened that make me give it lower than I normally would. The staff was good even when there was a homeless person yelling at them at the front office but I do think they could have pulled them outside and talked to them personally which would have been better. Also, it said that check out was at 12. We decided to sleep in and get as much time in our room before we decided to leave around 11:30. We not only had 1 but 2 cleaning staff pound on our door (even though we had the do not disturb sign on it) asking if we are staying or leaving or when we are leaving. They should be in constant communication with the front staff to know who is leaving each day and not have them on us for checking out at the time we are supposed to. Also the television nor the Wi-Fi worked (it kept coming in and out).

Unsafe! you have been warned! I just had the pleasure of talking to the person "in charge" after some semi-valuable items and documents were stolen from my nephew in the room. The person went to great lengths to get rid of me and ultimately just hung up on me. He claimed there was no manager on duty and there wouldn't be for a month. He blamed the theft on leaving the door open (really! ) and the high crime rate in the area. They have some level of security cameras but do not know how to use the system. If you stay here, expect your things to be rifled through and stolen if they are worth anything and the staff to be of no help. Your only recourse will be to file a police report and hope your own insurance covers. I only wish I could give "0" stars!

Hotel with modest prices. Better to book online to get cheaper room prices. But overall not to bad for a night or two.

Had a corner room in the back, so had the wonderful smell of urine upon entering the room. Floor turned my socks black. Found a fake eyelash on the night stand. Hole in ceiling was duct taped. Interesting part of the night was when I opened the door and found a woman in the doorway with her ear to our door — said she was looking for her friend. I felt sorry for my wife who stayed up all night scared from the random yelling and screaming all night. I really shudder thinking I actually put my family though a night at this place.

The room had very poor Wi-Fi coverage that would spontaneously disconnect every few seconds. There was a dead cockroach in the bathroom. Amenities such as a coffee maker were not present. The Street the hotel is on is pretty sketchy too with tons of homeless people walking around. The hotels warning of the safety of your car parked outside and the stuff inside your room is not guaranteed was pretty ominous. The blankets had holes in them. It can be quite loud in the morning when the garbage pickup occurs. On the positive side, the beds and blankets were comfy, and there was grainy but working basic cable TV.

The location is awesome but the neighborhood is really bad — homeless and drug dealers. They charged $250 for two nights during a week. The rooms are decent but the staff could try harder — there were no bath towels in the bathroom, only a couple of hand towels, and the shower handle was broken. The receptionist was very nice and helpful.

It's within walking distance of Union Square and restaurants which is great. The staff were very nice. The rooms are not for the faint of heart so bring your flip flops! I wish they had tile in the rooms instead of questionable carpeting… But you're getting what you pay for. It's ok for a short stay.

Booked a room here a few weeks in advance. We were only going to be in town for one day and night and just wanted a bed for a few hours sleep. First thing I noticed was there's no parking. Or next to none. Second thing was the car that was "parked" where it shouldn't be that had the tires slashed. To sum up our experience: "Nope. "

The rooms were clean and in good condition.

It is EXACTLY what you think it will be: The cheapest motel in San Francisco. It was exactly what I expected. There are homeless wandering around at all hours of the night. Garbage trucks spending hours processing waste, construction starting at 7:30am, there's even a "sharps collector" for used needles (or to pick up a few extra needles if you run out). The doors are sticky, I recommend shoes or flip flows, as the carpet will stain your socks black. Bring your own pillows for sure, and probably your own blankets and sheets. I fixed the toilet as well as the lamp, so that's good to go now. Everything is sticky, the light switches, the doors, the handles. NO BEDBUGS! and their cleaning agents are powerful. Not sure what they clean, but it will make your eyes burn. 32" flat screen TV! Oh, and bring your own smoke alarm, ours was just gone (but the wiring is there if you need to hook it up) Enjoy!

The cheapest place to stay in SF except couchsurfing. You get what you pay for. Surely this is a rough area with lots of poor people. But if you keep your head up and just sleep here for the first night, it is absolutely okay. But do not expect any comfort here and bring ear plugs, since it is rather loud here. ☝

The motel itself was shabby and filthy, at best. The front desk staff weren't rude, but certainly were not helpful, not on the property or on the phone (if they answer at all). The housekeepers did their jobs, but didn't have much to work with. The barely functional a/c unit was plugged in with an electrical taped plug. When you plug in things, everything in the room flashed. Only 1 light in the room worked (the others were literally broken). The toilet barely flushed. The cable barely worked and was hanging out of the wall. The Wi-Fi didn't have enough signal to even stay connected. The linens were old and extremely rough. One stairwell reeked of urine. There are people walking around the rooms trying to sell 'things' and the back alley, where half the parking is is full of angry homeless people and drug dealers who yell and steal things. My vehicle was broken into and the local police told us that there are multiple break ins every week in the area.

The hotel is well located to visit all the main SAN Francisco attractions via bus, however the room was far from desired. Basically two twin small doubles (I paid for twin kings), a basic functional bathroom, cable TV had horrendous reception and the Wi-Fi was intermittent. But my major problem was the smell — it smelt like stale smoke and the smell was embedded in the soft furnishings. The towels provided like the beds were rather shrunken to the extent that I could not wrap it around myself (I wear size 8/28inch waist). Combined with the early wake up call from the banging from a warehouse across the road I wish I’d spent another $50 a night on a better place to stay.

Rarely had such a disgusting smell in the room, smells only of mold and chlorine … you can hardly breathe, had hair in bed and dirty blankets. I complained about the room and the 2nd room was not improved, only that the lamps did not go here… Cancellation was denied although included free of charge in the contract… Thanks to the reservation company I got the money again, which denied me this ****hole.

It's a seedy sad place fit for short sexual encounters and little else. Being extra towels and a surge protector. Apparently electrical outlets are way too expensive to install in a guest room over and above what lights and appliances are in the room when you arrive. Oh you may want to bring a couple of chairs. There were none to be found in our room. I think that there was a bar or soap provided. So welcome to San Francisco folks. $75.00 will get you a bed a towel a TV and a bar of soap to enjoy until check out time the following day… Then you gotta give it all up and deal with the real world!

Pretty nice little hotel. Clean and cozy. Within short walking distance of the Bill Graham.

First of all, let's talk about the general condition of the facilities overall: poor. — The furnishings are dated, and in a bad state of disrepair. — The bath towels are really small; they cannot be wrapped around your waist unless you're a hobbit. (And a thin one at that. ) — The bathroom sink, if left running for more than a couple of seconds, fills up quickly; and when shut off it recedes slowly, leaving behind all sorts of weird things like hair, food, and paper scraps. — Arguments and fights can be heard, loud and clear all night, from the front parking lot, from the side street, from the back alley, and from adjacent AND non-adjacent rooms. Their saving grace (at least for me) was the friendliness of the front desk staff. Whether I was accommodated (Wi-Fi code) or denied (larger towels), any time I went to them for something, I was generally treated politely and courteously… but you could tell they're used to dealing with shadier charecters, and were on their guard. In closing, if they could get their act together with the facilities/maintenance issues, they could very well attract a more… 'upstanding' clientele and perhaps turn around their current (poor) image.

Shabby hotel. The word is strong but very descriptible. The thickness of the walls made us feel like we were 10 in the same room provided for 2. Cleanliness was forgotten (stains on shower towels and dust and dirty everywhere). When we realized that this neighborhood is not recommended to anyone, being known as the neighborhood to avoid San Francisco absolutely all traders report it to you when he hears the name of this neighborhood. We understood that this hotel was a very bad choice. Being 2 young students on holiday we preferred to change hotels and do not recommend it to any tourists.

DO NOT STAY IN THIS PLACE! im not a really hard to please individual! But this is the WORST place you probably gping to find! Rooms are horrible! Lots of drugs and homeless people! I would literally rater stay in a rest area in the car! No words!

Booked this room last minute online when we were flying out of San Francisco. I would not recommend these rooms. Our room was not very clean. We faced an alley where homeless people where partying and sleeping on the streets. Parking is free but they have very limited parking. The lady at the desk told us we could park on the curb outside the office which ended up costing us over $100 because it was street sweeping day and of course we were unaware of this until we left and found a parking ticket on our window. We only had a few hours to sleep before our plane left or we would have definitely found a different room.

Very bad place nothing advisable very dirty, a lot of insecurity and drug sale has nothing to recommend.

Good ol faithful you could say. Always when in doubt you can practically always depend on a good night sleep having a warm and quaint room at cci.

One night down there. For the shameful price. Woke up in the middle of the night by mice in the room. Dirty sheet. Old room. Neighborhood at night to flee. The street in front of the vehicles is full of homeless completely soul and drug. We went to eat in the evening, returning the guys this drug, … in front of the hotel.

This is the worst hotel I have ever stayed at. If you want to pay for a room that may have been used by squatters or "dates" previously in the night, then this is the place for you. They didn't even bother checking our room before taking our money. Once we realized there were people in the room already and that they weren't leaving. We finally had to move and all of our stuff to a different room but they couldn't assure us that no one had been there prior to us, and could not even provide clean sheets! This has by far been the worst experience ever. And that was just while checking in.

First let me start off by saying I'm so disappointed with Expedia for promoting false advertisements… A big company as such Should do their research carefully before advertising hotels, motels, inn ECT, Before taking people's hard working money. In this case I'm talking about the Civic Center Inn located in San Francisco. I can't understand how this place is even still open for business it's a DUMP! … Homeless people and crackheads resides on the premises, Every step leading up to the room reeks with urine, the carpets are filty, I didn't make it under the covers but just by the looks off the pillow case I can only imagine, the pillow cases had black stains all over them, oh and when I tried using the bathroom the toilet handle broke off in my hand… Note that, all of this Happened in less than 10 minutes after entering the Room. I immediately returned to the front decks to try and get a refund but of course the receptionists wasn't helpful at all, Be minded I'm a single lady traveling by myself and this was at 10:30/ 11 o'clock at night. I was only trying to find a clean place to sleep to catch a flight from the San Francisco Airport the following morning… So I called Expedia being that they were the ones that I booked the hotel through and a very helpful representative give me a $50 discount towards another hotel, so that was good.

Rooms are old and sparse, but clean enough for a couple nights stay, as long as you're not spending much time the other than sleeping. Location is great, within a15 minute walk of Civic Center BART, Union Square, and Polk St restaurants and bars.

A bit too expensive for especially sound comfort, but hey it's San Francisco!

Saved at the wrong end! Very bad area, no hot water. Dirty bed linen, filthy bathtub. Many homeless, fixers and prostitutes. At the price the area is almost to be expected, only clean could be the motel. Staff rather disinterested. Prefer to read some more numbers and reviews!

Staff is friendly and this hotel is well located. Other than that everything's bad. Half of the electric plugs don't work, Wi-Fi barely works and room is pretty basic. BUT the worst part is outside, this hotel is surrounded by a lot of homless people and drug addicts. It's dirty and it smels urine everywhere, this is not what we were expecting at all. And windows are very thin so we can hear basically everything outside. We've been waken up at 04:00am by a homeless woman singing for 1 hour long and at 07:30 by works in the street. Don't book here or you will regret it.

This was the absolute WORST experience ever! There were countless homeless people in the front who took up the entire sidewalk out front. The place reeked of urine and foul poop. Crazy people constantly yelling and screaming for no reason. There was a dead cockroach in our room. Our room did not have A/C and it felt like a sauna. The staff was not nice. The place was cheap but I guess you get what you pay for, if you don't mind all of these things. I asked for a refund and they refused. So believe it or not, I packed up and just left the place after 5 minutes and took ghe loss. I DO NOT recommend this place at all. I'd rather sleep in my car than go back to this hell hole. I was going to put ZERO stars but it wouldn't let me so I had to put one star.

Trash can of a place. Hookers all around the block and crack heads breaking in to cars. Bed bugs and everything. Have fun boys.

We decided to stay the night here and wake up early to go to the zoo. We are not high class people, not that picky but the stay here was sorry. During the day it seems ok but at night there was literally people screaming outside our door, u can here people walking above us, people hitting the walls, the pillows were like flat, Ciggaret holes and stains in one of the sheets and a pillow. The parking in the back has homeless people by it and it says park at your own risk. We had our kids with us and the only reason I wrote this is just in case someone else has kids I wouldn't recommend they stay there. Spend a little more to stay in a Better place. This is the first review I've ever has to write. God bless.

Me And My Best Friend Booked This Hotel, As Soon As I Walked Into The Check In Room The Lady At The Front Desk Had A Bad Attitude. We Ignored It Because We Didn't See The Point In Making A Big Deal Out Of It. We Walked Into Our Room A Little After Check In Time And We Had Two Pillows In Our Bed That Were Dirty As Heck With Some What Like Looking Pee Spots All Over Both. They Put No Towels In Our Room And We Had To Go Ask For Towels And Semi New Pillows With No Covers On Them. This Place Had No Free Ice Machine Either. This Place Is Full With Junkies And Homeless People Inside. The Hall Ways And Stairs Smell Like Urine. Overall I Would Never Stay Here Again!

Best thing here is the price, like 2 days out the week though. For the regular price of around 120-140 dollars I've stayed in way more respectable and stress free hotel's. Great location for the aspiring entrepreneurs of the city. Pretty flexible with long term residency as well. I'd go back but I know the ride already. Forewarned to the traveler on first stay… get ear plugs maybe and lock doors… common sense. You'll be fine, otherwise u won't, … but that's anywhere in the city really.

Horrible place where any and everybody can robb you. even the office, everyone is a crook and you are the mark. Even the desk clerk gets in on it. I was going to stay a week and I paid cash 700$ and the whole place is a crack house come nitetime. I stayed one hour and they wouldn't give me my money back. Crooks, One hour $700. No nononono go any where else even the streets are better than that place Even If u make it the nite what u take home with u will cause u to go crazy there bed bugs. Have fun.

The room was nice, Wi-Fi not working, great location but busy night bad people.

I was in room 115 visiting my friend & the room was gross as fcuk! The one chair in the entire room was way off in the corner and had nasty stains all over it. They're carpet had gross stains all over it too. So much that I was scared to even set anything down on it. The whole building with super sketchy and when I left I stopped near the office to tie my shoes and this creepy innkeeper just stood there like staring at me and had this weird, psycho grin on his face. It was not comfortable! So, yeah, if the price is right, take it. But, otherwise, I would advise: skip this hotel! You might leave with more than you bargained for in the form of stow away critters or microbes or stalker innkeeper or something!

DO NOT STAY HERE A group of us from out of town decided to stay in this hotel for a night, but it's filled with gun-toting drug dealers and crack heads. 3 people from our group had to drive away and sleep in the van overnight because they had their lives threatened in the back of the hotel when they were trying to park. Guns, hookers, and crack heads everywhere. Probably one of the worst places you could stay. The hotel itself was also awful — super cold, uncomfortable, and awful. Cigarette burn holes in the blankets on each bed and there were nails sticking out of the cement floor in the closet from when they ripped the carpet out at some point. awful, terrible place where my friends almost died.

It was a different experience than staying at a hotel, but it wasn't too bad. Considering how much we paid for this place, we had a decent time. The location is pretty good. We we're able to walk to Japan town, which means no parking fee! I wish their light did not turn off automatically though. We had to push the button often to turn the light on, so it was a little inconvenient.

Dirty, bed smells including cigarettes, parking lot not safe at all, lots of homeless ppl, not a safe area in general. Run away… don't worth for a lil difference of price.

High speed internet?!?! Try NO internet! When I called the front desk instead of being accomadating in any fashion they just stated repeatedly, "it should work. " Coachroaches in my room. Unsanitary conditions throughout. Don't dare leave your hotel room at night. The parking lot is a cess pool of drug dealers, prostitutes, and homeless. Let's not forget the addicts coming in and out of the room next to me all night. Apparently allowing obvious drug dealings and parties all night to disturb respectful customers is the standard.

This place has gotten way better, I stayed a few days and it was good for the location and the price. I'm mean its downtown so it was very convenient to everywhere… I mean if your the uppy type then pay more and stay at a five star. But if your a normal person looking for a cheap nice hotel, then this is your spot. Staff is great and the new owner is making great changes to the place.

Checked in and the guy up front was friendly. Parking lot was packed but don't be fooled because there's more in the back. Our room was reasonable for what we paid. The room is quite comfortable. The bathroom was very clean… I could smell the clorox. I'd come back here again. So far my stay is good.

Don't be fooled by the free parking, it's a dump! Homeless people and drug deals happening all night long. Dirty rooms and bathrooms and no air conditioning. Check your room before paying, looks better online than in person. Horrible experience!

AC was broken, so the gave us a box fan for the night. The bathroom had no wash cloth, just ONE bath and hand towel. No plugs for charging phones. Really is a dump. At 139.00 plus tax should have passed. They really should not be able to get this much for this room. It is just a bed.

Its ok if you want to save money its a good place to stay.

I called tonight in-fact, just now. I wanted to book a room and the woman who answered said the computer is down and for me to call back in several hours. I think she should have taken my number and called me back when the computer is back up and running but some businesses don't really care about customer service anymore. Is it my fault their computer is down and can not provide service? Absolutely not. It isn't a big deal but since I have not stayed here ye, but I feel it is an indication of what type of service to expect from this place.

If you like mice in your room and bed, stay here! If you like being approached by vagrants — even knocking at your door — about buying drugs or other items (likely stolen), and at all hours of the night, stay here. If you like not sleeping because of the vagrants fighting and arguing all night right outside your room, stay here. If you like worrying about your car being broken into, stay here. However, if you value even a modicum of cleanliness, safety, comfort, security, and/or quiet, spend more and stay somewhere else. I wouldn't stay here again even if the rooms were free.

I was here 2 weeks ago and Yes it is cheap! but remember people, is not a 5 stars hotel, so please dont expect Hilton service. Small room, clean, small bathroom very clean. If you are paying cheap then remember that you get what you pay for ;) Bring you own towels, shampoo and sandals for the shower. Staff are OK, area is OK, easy transportation! PS I didnt have any issue with Wi-Fi :P.

Free parking and A/C did what we needed and walk to union square every morning with no problems.

Some of the front desk staff are very friendly and helpful, and the area isn't soooo awful. The room was nice enough, beds very comfy, but the bloody shower only came in scalding hot. Wifi worked for the most part.

I went to S. F for 3 days, I admit that the hotel needs some updates, and my only good thing to say about my stay was Cristina Cestoni the receptionist, she was awesome and very courteous.

It's cheap, but not that cheap. Which basically means I expected a TV that turned on, Wi-Fi that worked decent enough to download or upload something, a shower we could figure out how to work, a room that didn't smell slightly moldy and full-sized bath towels (glad my girlfriend and I aren't large people). Pretty bare bones accommodations, but I am sure there is worse out there, especially in The Loin. Good things are: there are cameras all over the place (there is a gritty alley in the back) and free parking (first come, first serve) and a super suspicious overnight dude in the office making sure nothing nefarious is going down. Hot water is a plenty as well.

We read other reviews and were shocked. In need of a cheap motel we decided to look at it ourselves and were positively surprised. Yes, there were some homeless people, but they left us alone (it's San Francisco. You'll see a lot of honelessness). But room was clean, bathroom too, TV was in there working without any problems. Beds we're big and comfortable. If you are looking for a cheap place to sleep in San Francisco — this is the place to go.

The worst thing I've seen in my 30 years in hotels! Dirty, rats and totally dirty! Phooey.

Say a hostel surrounded by people sleeping on the sidewalk, an unpleasant receptionist and noise of shouting and cars with music at full blast as well as very expensive for the service you give. No comment.
